IC INFORMATION
Characters Name: Ren Mihashi
Age: 15
Canon: Ookiku Furikabutte
Canon Point: After the summer tournament
Species: human
Gender: male
Orientation: (not over 18)

History: link
Appearance: Mihashi is a short, skinny fifteen-year-old with unruly orange hair. link
Personality: Mihashi is a timid, highly anxious high school boy with low self-esteem and little confidence in himself. Though he was never particularly loud or confident as a child, he did have a few friends – at least until he entered Mihoshi Academy, where he joined the baseball team and became the pitcher due to his grandfather’s connections with the school. Unfortunately, due to a combination of personality conflicts and being unable to throw hard enough pitches to satisfy his teammates, Mihashi quickly became the most hated member of the team. Though his teammates relentlessly tried to bully him off the pitcher’s mound, Mihashi refused to give up the position. As a result, by the time Mihashi entered his new high school, Nishiura, he was essentially a nervous wreck, convinced that he had no pitching ability and completely unaccustomed to reading hand signs for individual pitches, as his catcher at Mihoshi had never bothered to work with him to develop any.

Mihashi, however, retained his love of baseball and a desperate drive to improve his skills at any cost. Luckily for him, Abe, Nishiura’s new catcher, immediately caught on to what his former teammates had never seen any use for: Mihashi’s unparalleled pitch accuracy, unusual fastball pitch, and willingness to follow any orders from his catcher so long as it meant that he could keep pitching. Eager at the prospect of working with such a pitcher, Abe immediately set to work establishing a highly-effective battery with Mihashi, in which Abe would call the shots and Mihashi would deliver them without fail.

As the success of their partnership (and the revelation that Mihashi was a bullying victim at his previous school) became apparent, Mihashi’s teammates at Nishiura quickly congealed around him, eager to give him the kind of support that he never experienced at Mihoshi. In response, Mihashi began to come out of his shell, though he remains skittish and fearful, especially in the face of loud, forceful personalities. In his daily interactions, Mihashi is excitable, highly expressive, easily intimidated, and eager to please.

Abilities: Mihashi is a baseball pitcher with excellent control over his pitches. None of them are particularly fast, though his fastballs tend to have an unusual backspin that makes them seem to rise up as they reach the plate.

Species: Heroic Spirit ; Technically, they exist as spiritual entities between ghosts and gods, and will set off magical alarm bells for that, but Rider lived his life as a mortal human.
Gender: Male
Orientation: Bisexual. He's an ancient Greek, which should be enough, but this is also canon within TYPE-MOON, as evidenced by this short interview:
Higashide: If Kayneth were Rider's master it wouldn't have worked out. But there wouldn't be any cheating*. (*as in Sola-Ui with Lancer)
Urobuchi: Not exactly cheating but I think [Rider] would basically go at it as if to fuck both of them.
Higashide: Oh yeah, he's bisexual.
Haganeya: Bisexuality was relatively normal for people of ancient times.
That said, he's not a very sexual person, so it doesn't really matter to him. He can be in a household with either a husband or a wife and will just sort of kanyeshrug at it. History: His mortal life and the Fate/ one
Appearance: he's a big boy

IC INFORMATION
Characters Name: Rahzel Anadis (formerly Rahzensia Rose)
Age: 14
Canon: Dazzle
Canon Point: Right off the boat in chapter 38
Species: Human
Gender: Female and Femme
Orientation: (She's 14 atm but-) Rahzel is definitely straight. The first thing she does when she sees her future partner Alzeid is hit on him. A ‘first love’ has been mentioned and its safe to assume that person was a male, furthermore if a charming good looking man approaches her within good spirits (that is, not threatening her or acting like a jerk) she will flirt, if she feels like it. Her interactions with females have always been very platonic. When she comes of age a husband or wife would be fine with her, since she's so easy going she'd make the best of it.

History: Once upon a time there was a little girl named Rahzenshia Rose. She lived with her mommy who could see the future and her daddy who was pretty ordinary in a little town named Vellnene where all the people shared the same features (blue eyes and black hair). Until the age of nine her family was happy, doting on her as parents do on their precious baby girls, teaching her things a sharp five year old like her picked up on the spot, whathaveyou. But her mother’s powers of foresight made her sick and drove her stark raving mad and her daddy, buckling under the pressure, spent more and more time away from home. Without her husband to channel her madness on, Rahzenshia’s mother turned her sight on her, often abusing her. On the evening of Rahzenshia’s 9th birthday, her mother made a feast and they waited all night for her daddy to return. He never did and her mother snapped, this time with all intent and purpose to kill herself and her child. Rahzenshia defended herself and as a result killed her mother with a burst of her magical power.

Her daddy, further buckling under the pressure like a good ol’ responsible family man, terrified that his daughter would become more and more like her mother as her abilities grew, took Rahzenshia out into the forest, drew a circle on the ground and told her they were going to play a game: wait in the circle until daddy says so. Rahzenshia, knowing instantly that her daddy was abandoning her assured him she would stay put. He never came back and she awaited a slow, painful and lonely death. But a strange man came along, sprouting all kinds of silky smooth words, telling Rahzenshia to give herself to him and, of all things, wished her a happy birthday. He was the only one to do so that year.

She soon fell unconscious (we learn later he put her to sleep, most likely hypnotized her into that state with his words of suggestion) and eventually awoke in a new place with a difference man named Serateed (the older brother of the man, Kiara, who rescued her) asking her to stay and be his child. Serateed asked for her name and she made something up on the spot: Rahzel. This is how she remakes herself. Fast forward to the year Rahzel is fourteen. Her father says in so many words: you said you wanted to travel the world and learn and grow through adversity right? Well I’m such a wonderful father, I’m going to throw you out of the house with some belongs and make sure you do that! He does just so: packs her bags, throws her out, locks the door and expects her to travel on her way. And she does, but she gets by with a little help from some new friends.

Appearance: Rahzel is a petite (4'9!!), fair skinned young girl with deep blue eyes and long black hair down to her behind which she keeps styled in various updos, curls, ect in just about every scene change. Rahzel is very much an expert on fashion and DOES give a lot of care towards her appearance: for every occasion she has a cute outfit and heels to match. Lace, patterns with equally cute designs, thigh highs, arm warmers, hats, and hair pieces are a few things to name. She's fashionable and conscious of her appearance and she knows it, so it's easy to pinpoint her, just look for the cute girl with the cool duds.

witchplz: (im gonna hold your hand)

[personal profile] witchplz 2013-07-02 07:58 am (UTC)(link)
Personality:
The first thing to know about Rahzel is she’s her own person. When she was young she renamed herself, thus claiming owner of herself back, giving a little girl who had lost so much and been betrayed by the people who were supposed to protect her a new and secure self. Her name and the act of naming someone or something are incredibly important to her: it’s the act of claiming ownership rights of something. She gave power back to herself in naming herself. Thus her ginormous ego is born.

The second key thing to know about her is how stubborn she is. Rahzel named herself, is her own unchangeable person, and while as the manga progresses she does get better at taking in other people’s opinions and listening to them, the peanut gallery doesn’t always weigh in when it comes to final decisions she makes. She is very much an independent young woman who has been taught and groomed to stand on her own feet and form her own opinion without anyone elses influence and when she puts her mind to something she NEVER backs out of it.

Aside from the times she’s started to change and listen to the peanut gallery’s wisdom (her friends Alzied and Baroqueheart) the only other time she’s changed her mind is when her father, the man who took her in after her parents abandoned her and gave her everything she could ever need to mold herself into this new person, told her to come home, no matter what, no questions asked. She relented to him because he is her father, he’s given her so much so she figured the least she could do is listen to him, especially since he sounded so concerned for her safety. Within this bullheaded stubbornness comes a determination and will that is absolutely unshakable. Sure, it’s had a few minor trembles but she does not give up no matter what.

Now that that’s out of the way: Rahzel is extremely eccentric, spunky, perky and optimistic; shes a people person. She has no qualms about approaching strangers and chatting them up, gets excited about the little things like the circus or hanging out with her friends or hell, food, and she has a real soft spot for children. She’s incredibly forgiving and non-judgmental when it comes to other people’s pasts and plights (the ghost of a doctor who had killed his wife during surgery by accident and had intended to drug her, a child murderer), and though she won’t forgive someone hurting someone else in front of her, she tries to understand it.
She's chock full of humorous, spunky and haughty references, and how some of the culture references of hers work when her world doesn't seem to have television is a mystery only she can pull off. Rahzel is very affectionate, from hand holding to well, punching, she’s comfortable and gentle when it comes to the people around her, even strangers, and that’s why she makes it easy to trust her and be around her, that attitude of gentle understanding, wanting to be around people. (Y'know when she isn't in their face) Underneath all that youthful enthusiasm and nosiness in other people’s business, Rahzel has real wisdom within her.

At one point when what can only be considered a mashup of human body parts, a zombie, is molded to be a deranged woman’s son brought back to life, Rahzel adamantly fights to keep her friends from putting the creature down, because to her it wasn’t a zombie: it was just a crying little boy. And as such, how do they have the right to put down something that was already given life without consent? The real deep questions like that disturb her and vault her into action and distress. That’s one of the only times she’s been so unsure, she repeats it over and over again that she doesn’t know what to do but the only thing she knew was that he was also a little boy once. Well, lots of little boys.

A key theme in the series is revenge; her companion Alzeid is in search of his father’s killer and time and time again Rahzel puts it plainly that she doesn’t support his revenge because she thinks it’s stupid, an unending cycle of pain and acknowledges that Alzeid wasted his youth getting stronger just for this goal. When a situation involving a little boy’s revenge for his murdered father pops up, she tells the boy plainly that it’s a cycle that never, ever ends. He would have killed his father’s killer, then the men who worked for the father’s killer would kill Rahzel’s friends, and then Rahzel would have had to kill all those men and eventually, someone would come to kill her. To her revenge is a waste of time and life, she even goes as far as to call it "stupid".

One more key theme which leads up to the point after this one is strength: A prostitute the trio met had the habit of taking this drug called Angel Text, however she was pregnant, but dependent on this drug. Rahzel took the drugs from her because she was worried about the baby the woman was carrying, but felt very conflicted about it. People take medicine for real medical reasons and grow dependent on these drugs to help strengthen them, she acknowledges this and goes on to proclaim that she hates them but at the same time knows the woman is dependent on them, she wants her to be healthy and it's her body so it's her right to do with it what she wishes. Then she questions what strength is, what qualifies as strength, unsure of the answer and ultimately conflicted about the issue. From a little girl who didn't have the strength to make her father stay with them on her birthday and prevent her mother's death and the destruction of her family, strength is incredibly imperative to Rahzel, and she's always trying to find new ways to strengthen herself and protect herself. Inside and out. But not just herself, other people too, everyone.

Another of the many important things about Rahzel is how much she cares, her boundless compassion. About you, about that random person on the street that’s struggling to make ends-meat and begging, about a prostitute that’s trying to change her ways for the new life growing inside her, about some random boy that’s being harassed by a group of men. She’s claimed that other people’s suffering doesn’t make her lose any sleep at night, but in canon she spends days hounding the streets for answers on the horrific death of a prostitute, and goes back to rescue a little boy who she’d only spent a few days with. When someone suffers in front of her Rahzel can’t help but get involved, and that’s why she’s considered nosy.
One of the first things she says that really starts the tip of the iceberg of her Limitless Caring is "To form the word 'person' obviously the line on the left is relying on the line on the right!" To clarify, she means the Chinese character for 'person.' She proclaims that because people can't support each other unless they're on the same level, she strives to get as strong as she can and climb as high as she can, getting stronger to support all those that need it. On the other hand, she is incredibly stubborn when it comes to asking for help. She’s gotten better at it, no longer refuses to speak up that she’s sick until she passes out, for example, but Rahzel still puts top priority in the safety of others rather than herself.

As the series progresses, Rahzel has been called out time and time again about making attachments and being honest and sharing secrets. She’s naturally friendly to people (when she’s in a good mood) but she isn’t overly trusting. Matter of fact in volume two right off the bat she tells her future companion Baroqueheat at his debut that she doesn’t trust him. She can be wary about people and calculating when it comes to their intentions, she’s no fool. At the point in canon she’s taken from and beyond she is completely and utterly attached to her companions Baroqueheat and Alzeid. They are her precious, special friends and her family. She has said time and time again that she would die with them (and makes them promise that they’ll either save each other or sink with her when it was revealed that she can’t swim, l o l) and will do anything to save them, even surpass revenge at this point.

When it comes to her origins and the story of her rebirth, sharing those sorts of secrets, she’s...pretty tight lipped. As in she goes by her terms and only her terms and is pretty decent at changing the subject or glossing over the facts (but if you know her well enough, like Alzeid and Baroqueheat eventually did, one can tell there's a pause there and her expression is too cheery, too fake). In one case she told the story to a child that was suffering because of her own horrible origins and Baroqueheat overheard this story. Alzeid found out only because Baroqueheat told him in order to spare Rahzel retelling the story again and growing upset. She’s mysterious in this way, sidestepping the answers of her origins and instead prattling on about her adoptive father’s daughter complex to people she doesn’t know. She speaks a lot about being open and honest but she’s good at dodging questions and will do so until she grows close with someone. And on the other hand she does grow a bit frustrated when Alzeid and Baroqueheat aren’t open with her at the beginning, but then accepts discovering things about them little by little (by observing and the like) and answering when they ask and only if they ask. On her terms. As Baroqueheat callously mentioned once, she does want people to accept her for the things she tells them, and though she’s made some peace with her past, it’s still a very raw wound and she doesn’t want rejection either, thus, it’s complicated. She makes a big show of moving on from her past but it’s a burden that isn’t likely to leave her any time soon, only get easier, and harder with time.

While Rahzel has no qualms about roughing it and getting her hands dirty, she’s a total girly girl. She’s always dressed fashionably and cutely and is very conscious of her appearance and what looks good. Not to mention material things, these she loves. Not to the point where she’s overly greedy, but when it comes to food or shoes, she’ll gladly take it off someone’s hands.

On the flip side, along with that sugar and everything nice is a lot of spice. Rahzel has a definite trigger temper when she or someone else has some injustice does to them, and while grudges aren’t usually her forte, when her precious friends are involved she can have a real mean streak when it comes to protecting them.
As most teenage girls are, her moods can be a bit turbulent, going from chipper to being downright irritated (general rudeness is often a great factor to get her irritated) but on the other hand she has huge reserves of sarcasm and rudeness herself (usually in the face of something sleazy, rude, injustice!!! Or even one time when the patrol squad knocked her down and made her drop her ice cream. Yeah. She treats rudeness with a healthy dose of her own rudeness). She’s beautifully expressive and ridiculous when angered, not to mention arrogant, buyer beware.

Rahzel is zero percent afraid of mercilessly trouncing her opponents, and has the habit of jumping into situations in need of a little TLC from her fists head first (or just, in most situations…) She can be increeeedibly arrogant and haughty, a defender of the underdog, but she has no trouble telling someone like it is or how much of a higher status she has over them. Her speech is littered with cultural references among her (…mostly) ladylike manner of speech. However she, again, isn’t afraid to curse or speak her mind or tell someone they are dirt between her toes. And she revels in doing that. So much. Perverts and smokers beware, this girl will trounce you silly and hang you up by your underwear. Seriously, she’s done it multiple times. For all her confidence and bluster, this isn’t to say Rahzel is completely without shame or shyness (usually around her own companions). Though a lot of the time it’s an act for show.

She takes challenges very personally (any kind of challenge, whether it be getting someone to crack a smile or crack some heads) and pushes herself to the limit time and time again to the point of passing out in order to show she’s not weak or useless to her much bigger and trained partners. She also can actually show some restraint! When Alzeid challenges her to not use her magic, instead of taking the three days he gave her, she increased it to a week because it “wouldn’t be a real challenge”. Along with her stubbornness comes her pride: it took a major hit even within the second chapter when she and Alzeid first became partners. They had an argument and she wasn't willing to give up her pride to make up with him, however, she saw the other side of things and learned pride wasn't important when it came to possibly losing a relationship (no matter how small and fragile as it was at the beginning). Thus, now she knows how to swallow her pride and be the first to apologize and be a bit more humble. But pride in herself and her skills and her stubbornness make up for the lost unlocked achievement.

History: Wikia link
Appearance:

Personality: As the main character, Sena has the most development in the whole manga regarding his personality while remaining true to his basis. Shy and soft-spoken, Sena used to be bullied ever since kindergarten due his weak personality which caused him to grow dependent of his friend Mamori as she was the one that protected him and didn't bully or ignore him. Ironically this dependence only made him appear as weaker and cause him more problems as he grew up to the point that everyone, Mamori included, ended assuming that he was the weakest and most useless guy in the world, someone who was completely unable to do things on his own. For years Sena lived a weak and easy life, always being bullied, always depending on Mamori for everything, always doubting himself and his own capacities. Out of every character in the manga, Sena is probably the one who has the worst opinion on himself, even near the end of the manga, he still lacks to show proper confidence, tending to end any confident statement with a string of hesitant comments despite the open respect and awe other players show to him. A good proof of how bad Sena's opinion of himself is regarding strength and capacities, is the fact that despite being taught how to run by Riku so he wasn't bullied, Sena used that skill to run errands for the bullies and avoid being hit as he was sure that even with that running technique he would still be caught and hit. Another example lays in the scene when Kurita tells Sena about American Football and shows him a game, despite his speed Sena doesn't think even for a moment that he could outrun anyone and avoid most of the harm. Instead he sets his sights and goals in the piper dream of becoming the team's manager, someone able to help the team, but with little relevance and expectations for himself (this goal is probably influenced by his own father, a good man with no ambition other than to do a good job).

Of course, by near the end of the manga and the canon point he's being picked up from, Sena's not entirely like that anymore. While he still shows a lack of confidence or a confidence that is shattered at the minimum external stimulus (just being tackled by Panther once was enough to send him into a spiral of "it's impossible"s and "I can't do it"s for a good part of the game), he's not as weak willed and coward as he initially was. Neither is he as "lost in life" as he was at the start when he had no idea of what he wanted to do in the immediate future, with no real interests other than to not been hurt much and with no friends besides Mamori on his cellphone book.

Right after meeting Kurita, Sena already began to snap out of that cocoon that formed around him during years. When he heard Juumonji and his friends planning to ruin the American Football club by using Sena, for probably the first time in his life, Sena actually refused to obey and cooperate with them, raising his voice and closing his fists in anger. And when they took his cellphone and talked about sending a message to Mamori, Sena fought to get it back... Granted, it was not much of a fight, but he tackled Juumonji and bit his hand to get the cellphone back before he ran away, finally using the running technique that Riku taught him for the purposes it was meant to. This event marked the turning point for Sena, not only it served for Hiruma to discover his talent and thus the start of his career as an American Football player, but it also settled the fact that, no matter how weak Sena may be and how badly beaten he may end, for his friends he will fight back and do what he can to protect them.

At many times during the manga, it's Sena's determination to help Hiruma's and Kurita's dream of reaching the Christmas Bowl what drives him to fight and play even against opponents that scare him shitless. If it was just for himself, he would have probably given up soon after the start, assuming he even got started in. But since it was the last chance Hiruma and Kurita had to reach their dream, Sena fought and his fighting spirit and anger often got feed on people belittling their dream or saying (ignorantly most of the time as Deimon's rule of not allowing third years extracurricular activities isn't well known) that they could have more chances the following year. While it's true that Sena makes many turning point decisions alongside the manga (refusing Mamori's help after his first match because he wanted to stay in the team, starting to train alone even under a heavy rain after his first defeat against Shin, deciding to stay and train in the Death March in America) and that those decisions come in part from his own wishes and goals, ultimately Sena was mostly driven by his wish of helping Kurita and Hiruma.

By the time the dream of reaching and winning the Christmas Bowl becomes a reality, Sena has grown and matured far beyond that. It's during a visit to the temple on New Year (less than a full year since the start of the manga) that Sena makes what would be the last turning point decision regarding American Football and this time, unlike the others, it's a decision no one actually asks him to do. There's no Mamori telling him to leave the team, no Hiruma suddenly revealing that there was another tournament and thus another chance, no Dobukuro asking him if he was willing to go to hell in order to improve. Sena makes a decision simply because of a chance meeting with Takami and Ootawara from the Oujou's Knights, and that decision is simply to keep playing American Football even after he graduates and becomes an adult and finds a job. Not because of someone else's dream, or because of a special dream of his own, just because he wants to keep playing and hopes to have more matches against previous opponents in the future. By the end of the manga this decision morphs into Sena's dream of becoming a professional player in the NFL despite all the odds against him being able to do so, though by that point that transformation isn't of big relevance as he was already settled on playing forever no matter how scary the game is at times (and even at the end of the manga he still shows fear about it even when he's diving head first into it).

As the manga goes on, Sena grows both as a player and a person making his bond with American Football a strong one as it starts by being the thing that gives him a chance to be "someone different" from how he is (or rather from how he perceives himself to be) but ends just being a thing he loves the most because it gave him the chance to grow up and become stronger. It's worth to note, though, that Sena's growth, while heavily influenced by American Football isn't just some magic work caused by the game or by the Eyeshield 21 persona he's forced to adopt during the games at the start of the story. It can be argued that Sena is someone easily influenced by others, and it's true, within a reason. Sena is never influenced into doing something he absolutely rejects, he even considered (very briefly, until Kurita actually showed him how the games were) the idea of playing American Football before Hiruma forced him to. And even after he was forced to, the next time, Sena considers running away but ends changing back into his player clothes even before Hiruma sends Cerberus to capture him. Deep down, Sena has always had the potential to be the way he ends being, someone confident (even if prone to self-doubt), determined (even if still easily scared) and strong who runs towards his future head first even when part of him wants to run away, certainly it's not a usual type of strength but several characters come to acknowledge that trait of Sena as a sign of strength. At one point of the series, Hiruma states that Sena is the type of person that says that he definitively can't do something right before he actually does it or finds a way around it that allows him to win.

However, no matter how much Sena grows as a person, he's still Sena. On first meetings, it's unlikely anyone will see in him anything beyond a very polite and formal boy, somewhat timid and with self-doubt issues, a boy unable to say "no" when people ask him to do something. And that's true, in part, specially out of the field. But both on the field and outside it, Sena's more than what meets the eye. Strong enough to get the attention, awe and respect from players whom he considers much more talented and who have been playing for much longer than he has, who train harder than him, who are naturally more gifted than him. But no matter how many awesome players actually respect him and consider him a worthy rival, Sena still considers them better, respects them in the way an amateur newbie respects a pro, and never assumes he's going to be able to win against them even if he has won once before.

Sena is also quite naive, even when asked to gather an All-Stars team for the World Youth Competition, he still is saddened at how not everyone can join the team and go to play even when he knows that they just don't have enough level for it. He's easily fooled and dragged into dangerous situations and he tries to get along with everyone, even when he's terrified of them and knows that they just aren't the type to be friendly (like when he tries to do a high-five with Agon). He worries easily and even now he still tries to be helpful to everyone and anyone, even when he's not being bullied to do it anymore.

GAU MEGURO / NABARI NO OU / RESERVED

[personal profile] temperm 2013-07-02 09:45 pm (UTC)(link)
IC INFORMATION
Characters Name: Gau Meguro
Age: 16, birthday on February 28th
Canon: Nabari No Ou
Canon Point: Chapter 50 of the manga, shortly before Yoite is erased by the Shinrabanshou.
Species: Human
Gender: Male
History:

The wiki is lol terrible incomplete, so I'm sorry but A VERY LONG AND TWISTY HISTORY AHEAD.

Gau’s introduction to the world of Nabari began some time (either a 6-9 months or over a year, it's unclear) previous to the beginning of the main story. After his mother, his last living relative, was murdered in a random act of violence by a criminally insane man three years previously, Gau sought out revenge and attacked him, becoming quite injured in the process. Fortunately, Raikou happened to be passing by and in a reversal of his pledge not to get involved with the affairs outside the world of Nabari, kills Gau’s attacker and takes the boy under his wing. From there, joins the Kairoushuu, a group dedicated to using the Shinrabanshou (a power contained in a boy named Miharu Rokujo) to create a perfect world and the organization that Raikou works under.

When Gau is introduced to the main story, he and Raikou have been completing assigned assassinations of criminals for the Kairoushuu. After each kill, Raikou leaves behind a spider lily as a signature. This catches the attention of his sister Raimei, who has sworn revenge against him for his slaughter of their family clan. She realizes that he’s in the area, and plans to confront him.

As Yoite, user of the forbidden art Kira, has joined the Kairoushuu, Raikou and Gau meet him during a meeting with the leader of the Gray Wolves, Hattori. After scolding him for his failure on his previous mission, Gau gives Hattori a report on their most recent mission while giving information on possible traitors in the area. After chastising Yukimi on his performance as well, Gau gives an impassioned speech on how he believes that they Kairoushuu represent justice, and how his work in the Wakachi is an extension of it. He is then told by Yoite that he’s lying, which angers him.

When Raikou confronts his sister for the first time, Gau is left behind to work on Wakachi paperwork. While he’s working, he gets into conversation with Hattori on how Raikou joined the Kairoushuu: After leaving his home clan, Raikou slaughtered allies of his former clan and presented their blood as proof as his loyalty. Questioning why Raikou would have had so much faith in the Shinrabanshou being reborn to grant his wish and being told that he had no reason for joining. He is then told of an incident 10 years ago, wherein the Shinrabanshou appeared and yet no one remembers it. Gau concludes that the missing memories are due to the Shinrabanshou itself. In their confrontation, Raimei is felled by Raikou and he returns to Gau only to find that Yoite has disappeared.

Later, after discussing their next mission, Raikou departs suddenly and Gau finds himself troubled on how to confront him about his past seeing that the samurai is clearing suffering from it. Seeing that Gau is worried about him, Yukimi advises him to ask Raikou about his troubles directly. Gau wonders if he can be the strength that Raikou can rely on while they take on another mission. However, during a routine assassination, Raikou begins to have visions of his family’s past that distract him from the fight. Gau rushes into the fight to disarm the target, only to get beaten up. Raikou snaps into a fit of rage and mauls the man, leading Gau to realize that the memories of the past are haunting Raikou to the point of harm. He then decides to resolve the situation between the siblings himself.

Gau travels to the hospital where Raimei is being treated for her wounds and quickly (as noisily) finds her group. Introducing himself as Raikou’s assistant and part of the Kairoushuu, he states that he’s there on his own wishes and therefore the group should not be blamed. He then says that he knows the truth of the Shimizu’s family history. When questioned whether or not he has proof or not, he offers his own life as the proof, and Miharu agrees to let him tell his story. The truth, Gau explains, is that Raikou’s uncle killed his mother and father in a coup to take over the Shimizu clan, and Raikou slaughtered him and his cohorts in an act of revenge. Raimei saw his killing of her uncle and said uncle’s cries for help, and to protect her innocence and love of her family, he took the blame for himself and posed himself as if he was the betrayer. He leaves, telling Raimei that he’s going to join the Kairoushuu and ends Gau’s story.

Raimei runs out of the hospital and Gau attempts to follow her but is stopped. Gau recalls when Raikou first told the story to him and his emotional reaction, followed by Raikou’s firm stance on keeping it a secret from his sister- even at the cost of their relationship. He warned Gau to never tell at the cost of him raising his sword against Gau. After remembering this, Gau runs after Raimei.

The Shimizu siblings fight and Raimei attempts to reconcile with Raikou. Feeling that he’s too far gone to rejoin her he slashes at her to kill, but Gau has stepped in front of her just in time to “receive his punishment” for telling the secret he was supposed to keep. As he lays there bleeding, he tells his wish for the siblings to put the past behind them and to become a family again. He slips into unconsciousness and remains in a coma for quite some time.

Much later, after Miharu and Yoite have joined the Kairoushuu and have gotten the forbidden art Daya, Gau is shown to be perfectly healthy and completely recovered, but still will not wake from his coma. Raikou makes frequent visits to his hospital bedside, expressing deep worry that Gau will hate him for rendering him unconscious. At the same time, Miharu’s teacher and mentor Thobari has gone missing. The group goes to fetch Raikou at his surface world job, only to find that he refuses the order to go with them. Yukimi asks if it’s about Gau, and realizes that Raikou has no idea what to do about him. In a spar with Yukimi, Raikou reveals that he feels guilty for bringing Gau’s “noble and pure” heart into the bloody world of Nabari, and that he blames himself entirely for Gau not waking up. Yoite becomes frustrated at this and says that he will end this himself. Knocking Raikou out, he goes to the hospital and forcibly wakes up Gau with Kira.

When Raikou wakes up, he runs to the hospital only to find that Gau has already woken up. Gau says that in his unconsciousness, he felt that he was going to where his mom was but felt something pulling him back. He heard Yoite’s voice and felt him pulling him to the surface, and realizes that it was something that he wanted the entire time. He then reaffirms that he wanted to see Raikou and to stay by his side with a smile.

Gau leaves the hospital and comes home to Yukimi’s filthy apartment. Miharu and Yoite arrive, and Gau figures it’s appropriate to celebrate the former’s birthday as well as his own recovery with cake. Giving Yoite a piece of cake, Gau thanks him for saving his life. The group then launches into investigation about Tobari’s whereabouts and they decide on using Miharu as a way to draw him out. Due to having a significant amount of work in the surface world, Yukimi assigns the task to Raikou and Gau. Walking with Raikou, Gau tells him that he wants to help Yoite and asks Raikou if he can help as well.

Later, Gau meets up with Yukimi outside of his highschool to give him a comprehensive report on Hattori as part of a private investigation. As he leaves, he tells Gau to take care of Yoite as they work together to find Tobari. Gau then calls Raikou, who is with Yoite and arranges to meet. Unfortunately, Yoite leaves to find Miharu. When Yoite does find him, they come in conflict with Hattori and promptly flee. Hattori orders for the capture of Miharu and the death of Yoite.

Raikou and Gau are told of their betrayal by Hattori and Gau is shocked to hear it. They are also told that Kasa, the national intelligence agency, is being sent to track them down. While Hattori tells the two that their primary mission is to find Tobari, it would be beneficial if they discovered anything about Yoite as well. Yukimi calls them, expecting Yoite to be with them, and Raikou lies, saying that he is. Raikou then tells Gau to go back to their apartment. Hattori then asks Raikou to run a background check on Yukimi and to target him if he betrays them.

While performing the background check, Raikou and Gau break into Yukimi’s car to see if there’s any hidden information. Yukimi asks where Yoite is, and Raikou tells him the truth of his betrayal. Gau questions Yukimi’s motives concerning Yoite and in a roundabout way says that he wants to protect him. Raikou offers Yukimi a chance to join them in a different path- one that can both remain loyal to the Kairoushuu and help Yoite. Yukimi expresses his reservations, Raikou states that he won’t let him go, and to escape Yukimi points a gun at Gau’s head. This angers Raikou to the point of him saying that he will destroy Yukimi at any cost.

Yukimi and Raikou battle while Yukimi tells him his past. Yukimi identifies with Yoite and wants to protect him, and Raikou realizes that perhaps it’s wrong to fight him when his wishes align with Gau’s. When Yukimi corners Raikou, Gau steps in between them, begging them to stop their fight. Raikou realizes his error and resolves to do the right thing, even if it’s against Hattori’s wishes. Yukimi tells him the location of Miharu and Yoite before he leaves.

Turning back to Gau, Raikou realizes that he paid no attention to the boy’s feelings. When asked, Gau says that he wants to help Yoite, even if it goes against the leader’s wishes as well. He also states that he doesn’t want to leave Raikou or the Kairoushuu either. Raikou tells him to stay by his side and that there must be a way to help Miharu and Yoite while remaining in the group. Gau happily complies.

Gau and Raikou travel to Hattori to ask him to call off the execution of Yoite. Hattori refuses to listen to their concerns and reminds Raikou that he’s easily replaceable. Gau, who is listening in from outside, hears that Yoite has appeared and he rushes to find Miharu. He warns him of what’s happening and learns that they plan to “store” the Shinrabanshou somewhere else. He gets in a confrontation with the messenger and Raikou appears to knock him out, revealing that he plans to follow his own path even if it means abandoning the Kairoushuu. Gau follows Raikou in his battle against the Kairoushuu’ backup ninjas, and just before Miharu uses the power of the Shinrabanshou to erase Yoite from existence, Gau is sent to Holly Heights.

INFORMATION

Characters Name: Luc
Age: 12
Canon: Suikoden
Canon Point: Shortly before invading Soniere Prison
Species: Human (clone)
Gender: Male

History: Wiki
Appearance: Picture!
Personality: Luc is a reserved, self-contained person, having spent a majority of his life in near-isolation. This isolation in his early years meant that instances of outside influence were few and far between; after being taken in by the seer Leknaat, the only people he ever saw can be assumed to have been mostly officials of the Scarlet Moon Empire, on visits to receive her yearly predictions. His snobbish and arrogant manner was, therefore, acquired from the snobbish and arrogant officials he was occasionally able to meet. The lack of variety or frequency to these visits, though, left him largely lacking in social skills, and as such he is thought of as irritatingly rude by most people who have spoken to him. The boy does have manners, as is evidenced by the way he treats his teacher, but this politeness is rarely exhibited towards anyone that isn't her; when it is, it's likely to be in a sarcastic or begrudging manner.

When at home with Leknaat, Luc was actually quite talkative, saying what he wanted whenever he felt like it. This talkativeness dwindled away over the course of the war, as he was overwhelmed by the strange new environment, the large number of people he was now surrounded by, and the seriousness of the overall situation. So, after having been so cheerfuly rude and wordy when the hero McDohl first met him, he became a withdrawn and quiet person, keeping to himself and speaking up more rarely. His only lines after joining the army are short one-liners like "What do you want?" or "This is my fate."

Despite the cold demeanor he tries to put up, Luc really does care about what goes on around him. In Suikoden 2, he jokes about Nanami's fear of ghosts, he willingly helps Riou run away, he tones down the rudeness after Nanami dies. Years later, after the Dunan war, he takes it upon himself to save a young girl from Harmonia; having himself been mistreated by that country as a child, he empathized with her. During their final moments in the manga, they reminisce over various instances of his having comforted her or taken the blame for her mistakes. This doesn't mean that he wasn't still a little cold, though - when he sees Harmonian troops (led by his brother) in the Dunan war, he single-handedly wipes them all out before immediately leaving the battlefield, a statement of scorn more than an offer to help his own team.

Luc is, finally, a very determined person. One might even say stubborn. When he's given an important task, no matter how much he complains he won't give up until it's finished. This can have its good and bad points, as evidenced by his later plot to destroy his rune (and himself in the process) 'for the sake of humanity.' This plan ultimately falls through, and in fact starts falling apart a good time before the end, but he refuses to give up until he is finally forced to admit defeat through death. Admittedly at the age of 12 none of that plotting has happened yet, but the determination is still there. It's a combination of stubbornness and loyalty, really; not wanting to disappoint Leknaat, trained to follow things like destiny and fate, and maybe also because he grew to care just a little about the other people in the army, he stayed, through thick and thin, until the very end of the war.
Abilities: Luc is the bearer of the True Wind Rune, which contains the most powerful wind magic in the Suikoden world. According to mythology, all other wind-related runes are descended from it. Spells include:

- The Shredding: Damages all enemies
- Funeral Wind: Stronger damage to one enemy, chance of instant death
- Shining Wind: Even stronger damage to all enemies. heals allies a good amount
- Eternal Wind: Extreme damage to all enemies

In-game he's always equipped with an average wind rune though, so I'm assuming True Wind is capable of all levels. He prefers to stick to the weaker spells associated with an average wind rune, which are Wind of Sleep (self-explanatory), Healing Wind (completely heals/cures one ally), The Shredding (a little stronger than the True Wind Rune's Funeral Wind), and Storm Warning (single-use 100% effective magic repel). Less power overall, but a lot more useful.

Aside from that he's pretty fast, though this might also be partly wind rune-related. He's also good at housework.

First Person: ...Hello? [Luc frowns at the camera shortly after saying this, then looks around--in case someone caught him talking to an inanimate object, ugh that'd be embarrassing. He doesn't seem to see anyone, though he does look kind of worried. Maybe because he's lost?

After a moment of nervous silence, he turns back to the phone and attempts poking at the buttons some more.]

futch.is an idiot

[....Maybe that wasn't the best thing to write. But how to delete.... What follows is some symbols and blank spaces aaand he frustratedly pockets the thing. You might still be able to catch him muttering to himself though - he didn't turn it off.]

Who needs whatever that stupid thing is anyway, I bet it's not even useful.

Third Person: Luc was used to being in places he didn't want to be. Like that stupid fortress in the middle of the lake, or...or Harmonia, he supposed. Usually he knew how he'd gotten there though, and the pile of papers he'd woken up with wasn't much helping in that regard. He'd read it all very thoroughly - it was a better option than entering a strange house or wandering off aimlessly, he'd thought. Especially when he couldn't sense True Wind, for some reason...he felt strangely empty, in that way people do when something they're used to feeling has disappeared suddenly and without warning. Like something was missing. Which it was. And that feeling made him feel helpless in turn, he'd had it since before he could remember and now it was missing and--

He threw the papers in a sudden fit of frustration, watching as they danced wildly in the air for those scant few second of flight, before getting up and brushing himself off. Okay. Fine. So what if he was in some strange unknown place and his rune was missing and he was being told he lived here? That didn't mean anything. He'd just walk right out of this town, maybe find a map somewhere, and when he got back to Lady Leknaat everything would be right again. Maybe he could even skip out on the rest of the war--no, she'd probably send him back again, with or without True Wind, it was part of his fate.

....Either way, it'd be better than wherever this was. With that thought, and an incredibly put-upon sigh, Luc began his grand adventure, walking down the streets of Holly Heights.

[personal profile] hamon 2013-07-03 03:50 am (UTC)(link)
Personality:
Jonathan Joestar strives to be an ideal gentleman. Kind yet passionate, he protects his beloved ones with great determination. The said determination not only helped him learn one of the most difficult martial arts in the world in half a day but also earned the respect and adoration of his comrades and enemies alike. He has shown to be trusting of others, sometimes naively so, as he is the type of person who will not deny someone a second chance. Additionally, he does not like unnecessary violence and would rather not fight if there is an alternative. I could list Jonathan's other likable traits - dedicated, diligent, optimistic, earnest - but simply put, he is an all around nice guy.

As forgiving and kind he is though, even Jonathan has limits. When he gets extremely angry, he can be quite destructive. His adaptive brother Dio dubbed it "explosive power." Although it rarely surfaces when he is the target, he takes on another level of willpower if others are involved. For example, when he was twelve, Dio forcibly kissed Jonathan's sweetheart and few days later found himself being pummeled by enraged Jonathan. This is significant because Jonathan always lost when he faced against Dio prior to this confrontation. His desire to redeem Erina's honor pushed him forward despite the brutal beating he received before. Unchanged or perhaps stronger than before, this power allows him to face series of bizarre events and foes.

That said, Jonathan has had bizarre human relationships as well. His family for example. His mother died in a carriage accident protecting infant Jonathan. Naturally, he has no recollection of her, but he does have a soft spot for mothers who protect their child. After losing his wife, his father George Joestar raised him strictly, especially after Dio's arrival, and drilled him in manners and the ways of a gentleman. Despite this, both George and Jonathan loved and respected each other; Jonathan went to the infamously dangerous Ogre Street in hopes of finding an antidote for his poisoned father, and George blocked a fatal attack aimed for Jonathan with his body. When George died in his arms, Jonathan was stricken with grief and vowed to end Dio's ambition. Speaking of which, we cannot talk about Jonathan without explaining his relationship with Dio.

Dio, as mentioned before, is his adapted brother who George took in when he was twelve. Dio thought Jonathan as a hindrance to his way to the Joestar fortune and did everything he can to make him miserable. Although Jonathan didn't have many friends even before Dio's arrival (due to his rich boy status), Dio made sure that Jonathan had no one to console. Unable to understand why the other boy would be so hostile against him, twelve year old Jonathan always felt uneasy around Dio. Not to mention that he was frustrated by how Dio seemed to be taking away his place. After the kiss incident however, the two maintained a friendly front for seven long years, mostly because Dio changed his tactic from breaking him to mainuplating him. Jonathan never quite believed Dio's amiable facade (rightfully so!) but chided himself that he should trust in his friend more. Even after he discovered that Dio had been poisoning their father and apprehending him with the police, Jonathan felt sadness with the turn of events. That sadness turned into anger when Dio turned himself into a vampire with an artifact called Stone Mask, killing George in process, and started feeding on innocent humans. Fueled by mix of revenge and obligation, Jonathan risked his life to stop him many times With all the things said and done however, both of them envied one another and as fragile as it was, shared a friendship. Jonathan cried for Dio when he thought he had finally killed him, and Dio acknowledged Jonathan's strong spirit and his respect for the man.

Abilities:
Oh boy, where do we begin? Let's see ... Jonathan is athletically very gifted. He was one of the two star players of his college rugby team and he boxed when he was twelve. Even before he got his supernatural powers, he could apprehend three armed thugs with his bare hands. He survives from series of painful injuries too - such as falling down from several stories, serious burns, and broken bones (in one night). As you can imagine, he has a pretty sturdy body.

After his adaptive brother turned into a psycho vampire, Jonathan learns the ways of the Ripple from his mentor, Zeppeli. Ripple is a type pf martial art that uses sun's energy via breathing and it allows its user to do such things as: walk on water, set things on fire, heal faster, and kill vampires and zombies. Ripple can also be used to enhance objects; these objects can range from swords to liquids to fallen leaves. Speaking of leaves, Jonathan has shown to be capable of restoring life to plants through his Ripple. The downside is that this ability has not been explored and Jonathan has never intentionally used this ability.

More details here.

Other: 1) His twelve year old self loved chocolate. 2) He had a dog named Danny. It rescued him when he almost drowned. Dio burns the dog to death after being beaten. DIOOOOOOOOO!!

Nanako Dojima | Persona 4 | Not Reserved {2/3}

[personal profile] youngersister 2013-07-04 01:22 am (UTC)(link)

History: It can be found here.

Due to her mother's death, Nanako is responsible for her and her father's chores, who both live in the rural town of Inaba. Despite her young age, she juggles the household tasks with no trouble while her father sparsely comes home from work. When the protagonist stays with the two for a year, he helps her face her loneliness and abandonment her father caused her and joins them together as a family again.

Later on in the story, Taro Namatame throws her into the TV world, which causes her to fall into a coma. She then dies on December 3rd, but miraculously recovers a day later. The following spring, she sees the protagonist off when he leaves Inaba to return home, remarking that she will someday marry him.
Appearance: Here!
Personality: Nanako is very mature for her age and has never complained about the work that gets dumped onto her. She is independent and can cook, clean, and do laundry at the young age of six in her late mother's place.

However, her timidness towards strangers is noticeable. She seems to be instantly flustered when others mention how young or cute she is, further proving her shy nature. This, along with her innocent behavior (singing along to the Junes commercial, telling Dojima (her father) not to fight with Souji, calling Souji "big brother," ect.) and being easily pleased/impressed, an example being when her father bought her a t-shirt with a platypus on it from Junes shows that there is a childish side to the grown-up Nanako.

She does not seem to have any friends from school or anywhere else until the protagonist begins to get closer with her. Her father is always caught up with work, and never goes through with his promises to her. This includes a vacation he said he would bring her on, yet she ended up spending it with Souji at the Junes shopping district because he never came home from work that day.

As such, she is lonely and feels unwanted by her father, which is revealed when she asks him if he is going to forget about her, just like he "forgot" about her mother once she died.

❝There aren't any pictures of her [Nanako's mom] at home. He [Nanako's dad] probably threw them all away... Is he going to throw me away too...?❞

The television is her prime source of entertainment and is also how she spends her leisure time; she is often absorbed in simple quiz shows and the Junes commercial.

She has always wanted to go to Samegawa River, a place her and her family went every year before her mother passed away, but her father was always too caught up with work to take her.

When all of this bottled up rejection inside of Nanako from her father finally hits her, she runs away from home to Samegawa River, where Souji comforts her and helps her realize that Dojima does love her.

IC INFORMATION
Character's Name: Lovino Vargas/Italy Romano
Age: Roughly 21 in human years.
Canon: Axis Powers Hetalia
Canon Point: Modern day (mid-2013).
Species: Nation.
Gender: Male.
Orientation: Pansexual or demisexual would be the best assumption. It's generally considered that nations have different concepts of sexuality than a human would, and Romano doesn't seem to show much interest in getting together with someone. It'd take a while for him to trust anyone enough, in my opinion, because of all his abandonment issues.

History: Romano's page on the Hetalia wiki

Wikipedia's page on the history of Southern Italy

Appearance:
Romano has dark brown hair, parted to his right, with one large curl sticking out. His skin is an olive complexion that's average for Southern Italians-- not the darkest European skin color, but certainly tanner than his brother's. He's around 5'6” in height; fairly average, though maybe a bit on the short side. His build is fairly slim, and he's lacking on the muscles side of things, except for the lean muscles in his legs from running and playing soccer. The scowl on his face is virtually always present, and he's quick to blush.

Personality: Romano fits pretty snugly into the 'tsundere' archetype-- most of the time, he acts irritable, angry, and hostile, even if he doesn't truly feel that way. He regularly denies how he feels, or lies about things he did, even when it's obvious he's not telling the truth. The only exception to this is when he's with women-- he's friendly and polite with most of them. Romano has both abandonment issues and an inferiority complex, stemming primarily from when his grandfather took his brother and left to travel without him. After becoming Spain's charge, Romano became convinced the only reason that Spain wanted him was for his grandfather's inheritance. That, along with Spain's attempts to trade him for his brother, and the constant praise of Italy and insisting he was cuter than Romano, added to his insecurities. Nowadays, he's quick to be belligerent and push away anyone who might want to get close to him, as an act of self-preservation. He doesn't want to become dependent on anyone and have them leave him.

The relationship between Romano and Veneziano is complicated at best. They were separated for much of their childhood, and the cultural differences between North and South Italy are numerous. They seem to bicker a lot, and neither of them are completely innocent when it comes to provoking each other. However, they are brothers, and two halves of the same country. They rely on each other a lot and are pretty close, judging by all the time they spend together. Family tends to be very important to Italians.

Romano is very insecure, and (unless provoked) will shy away from doing things if he fears he'll fail. When he was a child, he had chorea, a disorder resulting in involuntary muscle spasms. When cleaning, it'd cause him to knock things over, and in general attributed to his clumsiness. As a result, Romano would refuse to clean, instead making Spain do it for him. Nowadays, he's proven he can be a hard worker-- Germany sums it up pretty well with the line “He's a guy who can do what he puts his mind to,” but the same assumption could be made from references to his farming culture.

Just like his brother, Romano is cowardly and easily scared, though unlike his brother often puts on a tough front. He's notably scared of Russia, France, and England when he captures Romano. When he was younger, he thought Prussia was scary, but not enough to keep from mouthing off to him (from a safe distance). He's shown to be bullied around by the mafia, and when he resists them (another example of his determination), they're surprised, and certainly didn't expect it from Romano. He's as quick to run away from a fight as his brother is.

Abilities: For the most part, just immortality. A nation's health and strength is also affected by their economy; it's not exactly an ability, but still something that will disappear when he becomes human.

Other: There's a lot of headcanoning from small bits of canon to round out his character.

First Person:

A short thread of these dumbasses.
More dumbasses.
Third Person:
Lovino is largely a creature of habit, so when he wakes up in the morning and rolls out of bed to make coffee, he's hardly awake. What wakes him up quickly enough, though, is the sight of the cord of his electric moka pot chewed apart. “Gino!” he hollers, but of course the damned cat is nowhere to be found.

There's no way he'll make it through the day without some sort of caffeine, so Lovino growls angrily and snatches up his car keys as he stomps outside. It's a five minute drive (at least, when Lovino drives) to the nearest coffee shop that looks somewhat tolerable, and even that short distance is eating away at his nerves.

By the time he actually arrives at the cafe, he's in a full-blown pissy mood, storming through the doors and stomping up to the register. The scowl on his face is a pretty clear broadcast of how exactly he's feeling. Taking barely a moment to peruse the menu, he directs his attention to the person behind the counter.

“Give me a cappuccino chiaro with two shots of espresso.” He didn't check if they actually had it for sale, but any self-respecting cafe would.

Lotta Hart ▣ Ace Attorney ▣ Not reserved ▣ 2/3

[personal profile] reckoncourse 2013-07-05 06:54 am (UTC)(link)
History: Here!
Appearance: Just don't call her Lotta Hair...
Personality:
The first thing that can be said about “Lotta Hart” is that she definitely has a “lotta” energy. She has an aggressive Type A personality; she’s a go-getter, and she throws herself headfirst into anything that catches her interest, even if it tends to cause problems for other people down the road. For example, she was a college student...but she decided to become a paranormal photographer after catching a UFO on film (or so she believed); the career change was instant and she was already looking through the tabloids and looking into how to advance her career. She’s always on the run, never staying in one place for long, and she’s the kind of person who’s quick to make friends and regale a story or two. She likes to think she has a sense of humor and jokes often, but she isn’t exactly a comedian (but don’t worry—if you didn’t get her joke, she’ll gladly repeat it for you until it’s clear!).

Unfortunately for herself and others, her endless zeal and enthusiasm tends to create problems and get herself into trouble. The clearest examples of these are in her testimonies—in Ace Attorney, she appears as a witness twice. In the first case, she catches a few very small details by accident and blows it out of proportion until she admits to having seen the entire thing (she hadn’t). In the second game, despite having just rushed into a room where a murder has just occured, she has the audacity to start snapping pictures that implicate her friend Maya Fey. Once again, on the witness stand she tells details that never really occurred. Even outside of these, though, she tends to jump to conclusions and throw accusations about. She gets into arguments, as seen in her interactions with Franziska von Karma, and accuses her friend Phoenix Wright for stealing her camera despite any evidence to the contrary.

Still, at her “Hart”, Lotta is a good person—she’s following her dreams of journalism, and she’s generally pretty helpful...as long as you’re helpful right back at her. There’s no inherent malice in many of her actions, and her questionable photographs stalled the courtroom and offered enough doubt to save the lives of both Miles Edgeworth and Maya Fey. When she’s called out for being wrong, she’ll readily admit and apologize for her actions. When it comes down to it, she does consider the people she’s grown close to in the Ace Attorney games friends—she’s all to eager to snap a group photo of everyone after Miles Edgeworth’s name is cleared, and her worry over Maya Fay in Reunion, And Turnabout is very apparent. She doesn’t want to believe she’s the murderer, but is upset because she can’t think of anyone else she could be (until Lotta decides to blame Ini Miney, making this the first and only time that Lotta’s been right about who’s murdered who).

Lotta also has a strange tendency to be a bit down on herself. After her photos seem to make things worse in Reunion, And Turnabout, she spends a good portion of her time running away from Phoenix Wright and calling herself trash. She even goes so far as to hide herself in a clothes basket. She’s quick to admit in conversation that she’s not dumb because she’s from the south, but that she’s dumb for a lot of other reasons...and other similar comments. Lotta always bounces back quickly, though...almost as quickly as she changes careers.

Despite her strange enthusiasm for everything, she’s still a human deep down...and she’s sometimes really brave. When she hears gunshots go off in Kurain Village, she rushes in there with Phoenix Wright to try and save Maya from whatever’s going on. She has fears—she hates bloody stuff and the occult (which is a shame for her, because that’s all she EVER gets herself involved in). Clearly, she doesn’t even think about this when she jumps from career to career...but it’d be too far of a stretch to say she’s not much of a planner. Lotta is very patient. She’s a bit of a stake-out pro. She camps all alone in the woods on Christmas with top-end gear trained to catch anything that moves or picks up a loud noise. That takes dedication, and when it comes to working hard, Lotta’s certainly got that in spades...even if it always causes problems for everyone.

And of course, you can’t talk about Lotta without talking about where she came from. Being from the heart of the heartland, Lotta is a southern girl at heart. It shows in the way she talks. She pronounces acronyms instead of saying them letter by letter (yoofoh instead of U-F-O), and she tends to make up strange vocabulary (Reckon course means “Ya reckon? Of course I did!,” though she later uses it just as “of course!”, and reckongiven means “Ya reckon? That’s a given!”). She uses “Y’all” and “Pa” and other common southern terms when talking to others, which tends to make people look down on her. She’s quick to remind people, however, that she’s not dumb and that’s she’s a sensitive lady so it’s not okay to be a jerk at her for it! Besides, she can “talk Yank” if she really wants to...but she might tell you a story about something she wrassled growing up or about how her pa raised her before she does!

All in all, Lotta’s a colorful character. She’s hard to deal with, but she’s incredibly well-meaning beneath all of her demands for questions. Her zeal might create a lot of problems and she takes everything and runs five miles with it, but at the end of the day she’s a surprisingly hard-working gal, if a bit fickle when it comes to actually choosing a career. People might be quick to speak badly of her for her accent, treating her like she’s from a different country, but the laugh’s on them. This girl has a lotta hair, and a lotta smiles—it’ll take more than a few harsh words and a few botched testimonies to keep her from getting back up!
Abilities: Lotta is good at stake-outs and at accidentally taking really weird pictures, but she's a normal human being!
Other: Nothing~

[personal profile] arcticartist 2013-07-06 01:31 am (UTC)(link)
History: Satoshi's history begins with his family from centuries ago. His ancestor, a great artist, became so obsessed with his artwork that his creations seemed to come alive with magical properties. A phantom thief adored these works and started stealing them for himself. The artist started one last painting, Black Wings, but just before he could finish, the phantom thief arrived to steal it. The painting's magic went haywire and split between the artist and the thief, giving each a curse inside their bodies to be carried down by the male line of their direct families. These curses were actually entirely new people sharing their bodies with the ability to overtake when certain conditions are met. The thief got Dark, a flirtatious thief with black wings, and the artist got Krad, the ruthless alter-ego to Dark with white wings. From then on, the artist's Hikari family and the thief's Niwa family were destined to fight until their bloodlines died out. The Hikari continued to create magical and terrifying artworks, and the thieving Niwa continued to steal those works century after century. Whoever hosted Dark in his body would transform into Dark for stealing, and whoever hosted Krad would also transform to fight back. As years passed, these curses became more and more opposite - Dark grew closer and kinder to his hosts (also known as tamers), while Krad pushed his hosts' bodies beyond their limits, leaving the Hikari family short-lived.

In modern times, Satoshi is the last heir to the Hikari family, living in Azumano, Japan. Intelligent and gifted in both knowledge and art, he finished all his general schooling by age eight, then finished university by age thirteen. Little is known about Satoshi's parents and upbringing - his mother died young and his biological father is an unknown figure. Satoshi was soon adopted by Kei Hiwatari, Commissioner of the Azumano Police Department, and took his surname to further separate himself from his ancestry. Regardless, he knew he had to continue his family's mission of capturing Dark and keeping Hikari artwork safe. Before Dark re-emerged from the current Niwa heir, Satoshi entered the police force as Commander of all tasks related to Dark, using his wits to develop clever capture plans for the future.

Satoshi re-entered middle school to observe the Niwa heir and current host for Dark, Daisuke Niwa. Not knowing about the ancient rivalry between their families, Daisuke treated Satoshi as any normal person who simply needed a friend to keep him company. Satoshi initially tried to avoid Daisuke's friendship, dropping a range of warnings or over-friendly suggestions, but nothing kept Daisuke away. With someone who genuinely cared for him now deeply attached in his life, it made the task of capturing Dark from his body a little more difficult. Satoshi knew that Daisuke and Dark were close, and nothing he did would lessen the pain of taking something away from Daisuke, even when Daisuke's family was already stealing from him in the first place.

In addition to that complication, the beast inside Satoshi, known as Krad, was a bloodthirsty menace in the back of his head. By distancing himself from others and showing little emotion, Satoshi hoped that Krad wouldn't awaken inside his body, but his attachment to Daisuke triggered the push and allowed Krad to rise. Krad wanted nothing more than to kill Daisuke, disliking how much attention Satoshi was giving to their supposed family enemy. Fearing that Krad would overtake his body and take the chance to murder his only friend, Satoshi left school and hid away for a short while.

During his absence, Satoshi reflected on what it meant to be a Hikari, and how he was supposed to use his family title. Sections of his life that he once thought he had control over began to crumble, particularly with his adoptive father. Hiwatari grew more obsessed with Hikari artwork and began using them in his own ways, either by releasing them to wreck havoc or allowing them to be destroyed without Satoshi's consent. Frustrated, unable to prove Hiwatari was responsible, and unable to talk to anyone about it, Satoshi decided to create his own destiny and repent for his family's artistic insanities. Stopping Dark from stealing was still important, but Satoshi knew there was only so much time he could spare to chase a thief.

As with his ancestors in the past, Satoshi is physically weak and likely to die very young due to the strain Krad puts on his body. Fearing that he only had a few years left, Satoshi went against the old family rivalry by offering to help Daisuke stop a living artwork named Argentine, who had kidnapped one of their classmates. Satoshi revealed the history of their family feud to Daisuke, but also admitted that Daisuke's bright outlook on life had given him hope for the first time in his life. After stopping Argentine, Satoshi took his first step into how he wanted to live, fixing Argentine and then permitting him to live with Daisuke's family. He then returned to school to continue observing Daisuke, but he now had a place to talk to a friend.

Appearance: Satoshi has short, light blue hair and blue eyes. He wears glasses, but they're clear; he wears them as an extra barrier between himself and other people. He is very thin due to his abysmal eating habits (bread and noodles, mostly) and from hosting a sadistic monster who puts his human body to the limit. Humans are not meant to use magic, though Krad uses it freely despite how weak it makes Satoshi's body afterwards. There are two long grooves along his shoulder-blades, scarred from where Krad's wings would come out. His looks make him the local heartthrob at school and he regularly receives love letters from female students, though he always rejects accepting them.

Personality: Cold, aloof, and usually uninterested in anything that doesn't have to do with Dark, Satoshi is not the easiest person to chat to. He prefers to immediately talk business and get it over with, though people who are more insistent and prod him into conversation can eventually warm him up a bit. The distance isn't something he necessarily asked for, but as a result of carrying Krad in his body - Krad is obsessed with Satoshi to the point of wanting to ruin anyone who gets close to him, so the distance is more out of fear and protection to others than disinterest. Satoshi doesn't want to hurt anyone and can get emotional if his actions cause someone suffering. Even if that should happen, he recomposes himself quickly and gets back to business again - mainly to solve the consequences of his actions as efficiently as possible. Satoshi gets a little more harsh when someone wants to discuss more personal matters, such as his family or himself. Even when injured or after passing out from fatigue, Satoshi will insist he's perfectly fine and will try to leave the area to recover alone. Satoshi is now slightly less afraid of getting close to people, as Daisuke has sworn that their family rivalry won't destroy everything they hold dear. Satoshi is unlikely to strike a conversation and keeps everything quick and to the point. Still, he's not mean, and those who are stubborn into kindling a friendship (Daisuke) will eventually win him over. He simply never had a chance to grow up as most kids would.

Abilities: Satoshi is possibly one of the most talented artists to ever live, though he avoids making art in fear of potentially creating more monsters as his ancestors did. If he's seen a picture once, he can copy it perfectly and in a matter of minutes. He is also able to repair broken artwork and save Hikari creations that have living and human forms. Although his artistic abilities may seem magical to others, Satoshi is still human, and he would never create or grant one of his own artworks its own life. Having already graduated from university, he is extremely intelligent, particularly in art history, math, and law. With Krad as a part of him, he can change into Krad's body if he's able to maintain control, and can even use Krad's own white wings when in a pinch. Using those wings require magic, though, and the effect of calling them out is horrendously painful and exhausting. Most of the time, Krad takes full control of Satoshi's body, and it's extremely difficult for Satoshi to retake control. (Note: Satoshi would not have Krad, any of Krad's abilities, or wings in Holly Heights as they would be separated. He could, however, still change into Krad's appearance, as tamers who no longer host Dark or Krad can still change into their looks. Daisuke's grandfather, for example, can change into Dark's appearance, having been the former host for Dark.)

Other: He knows CPR, has low blood pressure, and can crossdress very convincingly, though he's only done it once for police matters. It tricked Dark, so whatever works, right?

IC INFORMATION
Characters Name: Allison Argent
Age: 17
Canon: Teen Wolf
Canon Point: Season 3, Episode 5
Species: Human
Gender: Female
Orientation: ( not 18 yet, but close! ) Heterosexual. In canon, Allison has a very obvious liking towards a male character (she has sex with him COUGH), without showing any interest with another woman. Thus, she'd be most comfortable with a man as a partner. Of course, she doesn't see anything wrong with being with a woman, so in that sense she'd probably be easy going with "marrying" a woman, but in an actual, physical marriage, she'd be solely available to men.

History: here for season summaries.

Allison was, unbeknownst to her, raised by a long family line of werewolf hunters. Since she had no inclination of her family's past prior to what's in canon, it's free to assume she lived a fairly normal life - though, jumping from place to place as her family moved around a lot. It is said that as a child she was both an accomplished gymnast and archer, so you can tell she wasn't exactly... normal from the get-go, being trained for her future without her knowing. Apart from that, very little is known about Allison's childhood - other than her mother was a very stern, authoritative, yet loving leader - always pushing Allison to the point of almost-cruelty. Let's say that Allison has always been a daddy's girl, but there's no doubt that she absolutely loves her mother as well.

Appearance:

( proof that she does more than make out with scott all the time )

Essentially, Allison is your average height 17-year-old, with big brown eyes, and wavy brown hair. She usually wears very simple make-up, not at all heavy on it - and dresses sort of in her own style, a bit of a mix between hippie and girly. She skinny, but slightly curvy, with an average bust line. As far as notable features go, Allison has big dimples on either of her cheeks when she smiles and not, and that's about it!

IC INFORMATION
Characters Name: Adell
Age: 17
Canon: Disgaea 2
Canon Point: Post-Good End
Species: Human
Gender: Male
Orientation: Straight. While Adell does initially express some discomfort towards girls, the only romantic relationship Adell engages in is with Rozalin. He doesn't display romantic interest towards anyone else in the game, so while I wouldn't rule out the possibility of him being into guys, he is very definitely into girls, and I'd like to leave it as such for now.

History: Adell at the Disgaea Wiki
Appearance: Here
Personality: The first word to describe Adell, above all others, is brave. It's pretty much the defining characteristic of him; the beginning of the game starts with him stating he's going to find and destroy Overlord Zenon for what he's done to Adell's family - even with the failed summoning of Zenon, he's still just decided that it doesn't matter, he will go find and defeat him. That's just the way things are going to be. Adell has no idea where he's looking, and all he knows of Overlord Zenon is from his accidentially-summoned daughter, Rozalin, and the legends that say that Zenon is the "God of all Overlords" who struck down 99 other Overlords. Guess what? Adell does not give a fuck; Zenon cursed his family and so the solution is to kick Zenon's ass, and Adell very rarely expresses doubt that he'll be able to do it.

As an extension of his bravery, Adell's honorable as well. He absolutely hates dirty tricks and lies and unfair fights, and repeatedly states that he wants to beat Zenon in "a fair fight". The entire time he has Rozalin with him, he refuses to use her as a hostage; he thinks that's not fair and reprehensible, and it just isn't how he wants to do things even if it would give him an advantage in dealing with an Overlord of Zenon's apparent power. He also hates lying, and tries to stick to promises whenever possible, even at great personal risk; he nearly gets himself killed trying to protect Rozalin from Etna, and in the good ending, refuses to swing at Rozalin-as-Zenon because he promised to protect Rozalin no matter what, even when she's attacking him and trying to kill him.

There's reasons he has these issues with lies, though. It stems from his parents leaving him as a child. He'd gotten a letter from them stating that they would return when they were able, and in the meantime he was left in the care of his current family - his parents (who are never given names), Taro, and Hanako. His parents, of course, never return, having been controlled by Zenon into a pair of demons that the party eventually fights, but the fact that they'd promised to come back and he'd spent so much time waiting on them, believing in that promise, only for it to never be true... well, it's the reason he goes ridiculously out of his way to keep promises, even if it will literally end his life.

That need to find out what happened with his family also leads us to question Adell's decision-making at times. His solution to find out what happened to his family was to contact a succubus; while we're never given the details on what exactly transpired between him and Elenor, it seems that there was combat involved, and that Adell had considered giving up his soul to find out what happened, and it appears to be the basis for his disliking girls - though it doesn't seem to be a chauvinistic "GIRLS SUCK" sort of thing and mostly that he doesn't want to get too attached/close to girls. It's not exactly the most mature outlook, but Adell *is* only seventeen!

Adell is also an extremely caring young man. Even with all of the crap that his family gives him about not beating Zenon fast enough (mostly from his mother), he's still completely determined to fight them; the way they treat him from time to time never gives him any doubt (he does say things about how sometimes he wonders about the people he's fighting about, but it's clearly not serious). The same is true of his other friends, even ones he doesn't know too terribly well. While he bickers with Rozalin ... a lot ... ultimately he's on her side, he empathizes with her in many situations, and he won't let anything happen to. Nor will he let Yukimaru kill herself after failing to succeed in her mission, pointing out that that won't accomplish anything even if she's "supposed" to do it because she failed.

This is not to say that Adell is entirely a good person. He's compassionate and honorable - things most demons lack - but he is still a demon who loves to fight. Adell's primary solution to problems is to punch them until they stop being problem; there are few problems that he feels can't be solved by beating on them. He's so eager to rush into combat that Rozalin refers to him as a "Battle Maniac", and it's not untrue. He loves fighting, he loves combat, and part of the reason it seems like he wants to deal with Overlord Zenon is that he thinks it'll be a challenging fight. He loves to throw himself headlong into fights without necessarily considering the consequences, either; see the fights against Etna and Laharl, both of which are by design unwinnable fights -- but he still fights them anyway, and even when he gets his shit stomped in by Etna, is still ready to fight.

However, Adell isn't stupid just because he wants to solve problems with his fists. He gives off the impression that he doesn't know how to solve problems other than with combat, that he's honorable and kind and whatnot but a bit ... slow, perhaps; but that's not true. In the Coliseum we see the entire party bemoaning a puzzle that the group comes across, worried that Adell won't be able to deal with this because it's a problem that he can't punch. He proceeds to surprise everyone, especially Rozalin and Tink, by solving it almost immediately, then explaining that just because he'd rather run into things doesn't mean he CAN'T stop and think. He's capable of considering the situation and sizing it up if it really calls for it (though his judgment is questionable sometimes; again, see him trying to throw down with Etna despite being clearly outmatched), but he's not an idiot at all; he's actually quite intelligent.

Adell is basically best described as a young man who tries to do what's right. He's loyal to a fault, and once he's a friend, he will stick up for you, especially if he promises to. He might be a little prone to solving problems with violence and a little too willing to fight, and a little bit inflexible; promises are kept even if they present a real threat to his life, but he's generally a good person who quite breaks the mold of what a typical demon is, even in the Disgaea universe where demons vary quite a bit.
Abilities: Adell's passive in-game abilities is that he does 25% extra damage to anything higher level than him. In addition, he has a few special techniques and techniques gained just from being a master of unarmed combat:
• Crimson Flame: Adell charges down the enemy, smashing people in front of him with a fist. On fire. And then ends up behind them.
• Soaring Fire: A dramatic as all hell move where he's all like "SUP" and leaps into the air, then kicks into some unfortunate fool so hard that it lights him (and everyone around him) on fire, with an explosion. Then he leaps back like weren't no thang.
• Vulcan Blaze: It involves hitting some fool. A lot. With fists and feet that are on fire, like out of Fist of the North Star or something, except at the end he clutches his fist dramatically and there's a Bond movie-style explosion.
• Triple Strike: Literally what it sounds like except it also pushes them back somehow.
• Tiger Strike: A dramatic charge punching thing! ... that pushes them back somehow.
• Lion's Roar: Adell leaps up into the air and fires a freakin' laser at the ground below him. I have no idea what this has to do with fist skills.
• King of Beasts: AKA "the least practical skill ever", which involves backflipping to an enemy, kicking them up in the air, smacking them around DBZ style, throwing them down, and then spiking them into the ground. I don't even know.
• Rising Dragon: When I said King of Beasts was the least practical skill, I lied. Adell uppercuts an enemy. Into space. AND THEN PUNCHES THEM BACK INTO THE GROUND AFTERWARDS. YEAH.

SAMPLES
First Person: Here is a first person sample linked from Exsilium!

Third Person: It had been unusual, settling down in Holly Heights. At first, Adell had sorta liked it; he'd spent all his life fighting for something like this, a place where he (and his family... though they were absent - something that weighed on his mind quite a bit) could settle down and maybe not spend all of his time punching things until they stopped moving. Having new 'parents' was a little bit strange (okay, a lot strange), but at least with them they probably weren't going to sacrifice the life force of the other kids in an effort to summon the Overlord. (Yes, Adell knew why that had to be done, but... well. Generally not a thing you expect from parents.)

The novelty of being settled down, though, started to wear off. Adell was used to fighting, to solving problems with fists, to ... heroing and demon hunting, for lack of a better way to put it. Rozalin had called him a Battle Maniac before, and maybe there was some truth to that, because he was getting antsy. It's not like Adell was the type of person to just pick fights for the sake of picking fights - then again, when you were hunting demons, there wasn't really a need to pick fights. Fights just sort of happened when demon hunters went after demons.

And so out of frustration, Adell had started looking for things to do. Unfortunately, it being summer meant that school wasn't in session, which meant that there were no sports teams for him to join. He wasn't about to start trying to antagonize other people though; preying on the weak just wasn't his style. He fought for other people, not for his own sake. And, in the absence of other things to do, he'd gone running. Miles at a time, and of course he wouldn't put on something because that wouldn't be his style either, stupid tie flapping in the wind.

He'd just come back from that. And now he was staring at the fridge and all of the food in it like it was some sort of mana from heaven (or the underworld, in the case of Adell; heaven was a whole different can of worms for him, even if he wasn't entirely aware of it.) It's at this moment when a pang of sadness hits him; at home, this wouldn't be something he'd have to worry about, because Hanako would have already made something, and it would have been delicious. For someone her age, she was a really amazing cook. But here, there wasn't anyone else there to do it, who really wanted to, and so he'd have to do it himself.

He'd get used to it eventually.

IC INFORMATION
Characters Name: Isaac Lahey
Age: 17
Canon: Teen Wolf
Canon Point: 3x05.
Species: Werewolf
Gender: Male
Orientation: Heterosexual. Even though Isaac has never had a girlfriend in canon, he tells Stiles that he asked Lydia out at one point. He's comfortable enough with his sexuality to use it to his advantage during a mission (when he grinds on both Erica and Jackson), but he isn't seen showing any sort of interest in another boy otherwise.

History: here.
Appearance:
one two three four

Isaac is around 6'1" with a nice build, thanks to working out and being a lacrosse player. He has short dirty blond hair and blue eyes. His eyebrows are a little thicker than most and he has a straight set of white teeth. He dresses in plain clothes, jeans, white or black t-shirts, and has taken a liking to sweaters, leather jackets, converse or boots.
Personality:
We first see him as a normal-looking boy with a bruised eye working in the graveyard, and later talking to Sheriff Stilinski about what he may have seen happen when a grave was robbed. The Sheriff then asks what happened to his eye and Isaac lies that it's because of lacrosse because he knows he could be punished for admitting the truth later. That being said, Isaac would rather work at the graveyard than come home for a family dinner. Family meaning himself and his father. Isaac tells Derek that his father never used to be abusive towards him, though it isn't stated when the beatings started but it progressively became worse. When he and his father have dinner and Isaac is nervously explaining his grades, it's first implied that his father is understanding when he finally gets Isaac to admit his chemistry grade (by threatening to take the conversation downstairs). When he finds out his son is failing, he reassures Isaac and his hopes go up when his father tells him he can do the dishes and clean the kitchen. Isaac is hesitant, but relieved until his father throws a glass at him and it cuts his cheek.

This is where we first see some kind of defiance coming from Isaac, when he pulls the glass shard from his cheek he is angry, telling his father, "you could have blinded me!" When his cut starts healing, however, his father doesn't know what's going on and Isaac runs away from him. Later, he runs to Derek, somewhat frantic, and tells him that his father is dead but he wasn't the one that killed him. Despite being abused by his father constantly, his father was the last remaining connection to family that he had after his brother died in combat. He still cared for him and felt the need to tell Derek that something had gone wrong.

Isaac has a lot of trust issues when it comes to making friends or relying on other people. People knew him as the quiet boy who didn't stand out until he accepted the Bite from Derek. He didn't make much of a mark in the lacrosse team until he got his werewolf powers. As the series goes on Isaac works within Derek's pack fairly well, sometimes questioning his authority. For example, in the third season, Isaac says that he doesn't want to work with Peter repeatedly until Derek convinces him that they have to.

During the second full moon, Derek is chaining Boyd, Erica and Isaac to an abandoned train car. He's explaining that they need to find an anchor, something that keeps them from transforming and to latch onto it to make sure their instincts don't take over. Isaac asks what Derek's is, and replies with "anger, but it doesn't have to be like that for everyone." Isaac is left thinking about it when Derek leaves the train car, but when they start to shift and become uncontrollable, Derek tries to hold them all off from escaping. Isaac ends up finding his own anchor and helps Derek hold down Erica and Boyd, explaining that his anchor is his father because he never used to be abusive towards him.

It takes a long time for Isaac to really warm up to someone no matter how much that person has done for them. He may trust Derek up to a point, but it's clear that he trusts Scott more because Scott made more of an effort to make sure Isaac knew he wanted him to be careful with missions and to stay safe (shown when they are taking down the kanima/Jackson in the rave. Scott pulls him over and tells him to be careful because he doesn't want Isaac to get hurt). He and Derek were doing fairly well until Derek tells him he has to move out of his loft, where Isaac assumes he did something wrong. Derek tells him no, but he has to leave (even though it's pouring rain out) and throws a glass at him. Isaac dodges it, but there is definitely a break in his trust towards the alpha in that moment. Derek knows what Isaac's father did to him, yet he still does something potentially triggering. Isaac doesn't have much conversation between himself and Derek after that. Scott is the person that Isaac goes to when he needs a place to stay, suggesting that Isaac trusts him over anyone else by this point.

Isaac hasn't once made an attempt to become alpha because he's comfortable being lead by someone else. When Isaac's father dies, he's labeled as a suspect and locked in the police station the night of the full moon. When Derek and Stiles come to rescue him, he attacks a man posing to be an officer and attempts to attack Stiles until Derek roars (yes, roars) at him to assert himself as the alpha and to stop Isaac from attacking Stiles. It works, and because Isaac is used to being abused, he literally cowers in fear from what Derek may do and shifts back to normal. He is seen shaking from how scared he is.

After gaining more control over his powers (sort of) he works under Derek without questioning him because he believes it's what he has to do. He's fine with trying to defeat Scott under Derek's orders, along with kidnapping Lydia without knowing the full story (besides what Derek told him). He is too clouded by the alpha's influence along with his new-found confidence in order to see the entire picture that Scott has been trying to show him. When trying to stop Jackson inside the rave, it's shown that he has no problems using his sexuality in order to trick someone. Erica is in between Jackson and Isaac until he decides to try and get closer to Jackson in order to keep him distracted and inject the Ketamine into his blood stream.

When Erica and Boyd can't take the reality of their life anymore, they decide to tell Derek that they are leaving while claiming they heard an entire pack of werewolves. Isaac is tempted to go with them and asks Scott if he's leaving, too, but when Scott says there are too many people in Beacon Hill that need him, Isaac tells him that he has nothing in Beacon Hills and says goodbye. At first, it seems like he is just going because his pack is going, but later he comes back to help Scott take down the kanima. He broke off from Erica and Boyd, showing that he can and will think for himself, along with the fact that deep down, he probably knew that Scott would need his help.

What made Isaac essentially take the bite? Derek does things for himself, and only himself in the beginning, preying on vulnerable teenagers who would do anything to change their lives. He promised Isaac that whatever was going on in his life would become better if he took the bite. Derek even (probably) used Isaac's abusive home life as a way to convince him to take it. Harder, better, faster, stronger, right? Well, that's how Isaac feels when his powers begin to come through. He ends up explaining to Scott that he feels great, despite being a fugitive. All that vulnerability that he felt before when he was defenseless had been blown away by the wind.

Isaac used to be the kid that didn't stick out. Now, he likes to shake things up. He definitely has a 'darker' side to him, enjoying making people uncomfortable (Stiles, Scott) and has a mischievousness to him that is shown quickly after the bite. He and Erica are seen walking down a school hallway together and Isaac purposefully shows his claws and scrapes them across a set of lockers as they walk, as if filing them down. He's very curious, and when he first steps foot into Dr. Deaton's office he wants to touch everything. When he reaches out to touch a glass bottle, Derek grabs his wrist and tells him to watch what he touches.

When things get personal, he gets angry. This develops more in the third season than the second, but Isaac definitely has an on/off switch when it comes to his animalistic nature. When he feels threatened or targeted (or he wants to protect someone), it's hard to keep him completely docile. He'll shift, or go after someone without thinking of the consequences. Sometimes, it's something that he can't even control which dips into his triggers. When he was locked in a closet with Allison, he felt as if he was being locked inside the old freezer again (a common tactic used by his father to punish him) and had a panic attack which turned into him shifting and attacking Allison until Scott moved the drink machine out of the way of the door and pulled Isaac off her. Another example is when he was chasing after the alpha twins after Scott told him not to, and accepting Derek's bite.

He is also described as a "ticking time bomb" by Stiles. In s3e05, after being told what is happening to Scott, he blows a fuse and starts attacking Ethan (one of the alphas) nonstop, even when being pulled away by the coach, he shoves him off and jumps right back in to punching Ethan repeatedly in the face. He can only stop when Scott yells his name at him.

Scott yelling at him proves to be a great source of 'pack leadership' and Isaac respects Scott enough to accept him as a leader, which is why Isaac obeys him. This also happens when he is locked in a closet with Allison and he is triggered by his claustrophobia. When he loses it and shifts, Scott is the only one that can bring him down by yelling Isaac's name.

Isaac doesn't talk about himself, or how he feels much, if at all. In that way, he is very introverted. Most of his emotions are processed in his own thoughts. He feels that he can take care of himself and keep everything inside, which is probably one of the reasons he acts out on a regular basis. He has only opened up to Scott (to an extent) and even then, there isn't a lot that he wants to talk about when it comes to his own emotions. When he comes to visit Scott before the big game in 2x11, he asks why the dog on the table smells funny and learns that his powers can be used for the good of others, too. Dr. Deaton places Isaac's hand on the dying dog and Isaac absorbs a bit of the dog's pain, crying when he realizes what he had just done. This is the only time we see Isaac cry. Though, even if he isn't interested in talking about himself, he is very expressive with his features and hands, though it mostly adds up to his lips, eyes, and eyebrows.

Isaac can be an asshole. It especially shows in the second season, when his ego skyrocketed after taking the Bite. He comes off as aloof, intense and cunning. When Scott and Stiles are talking in the locker room trying to figure out how to get tickets to the secret rave, Isaac asks them how they survive and tells them to wait where they are (being rather rough with Stiles, having been gripping his shirt and patting him on the chest) as he pushes past them after they witness another lacrosse player selling tickets. He beats up the boy the seller had given the ticket to and the seller (things are being smashed, Stiles and Scott are wincing) before coming back with two tickets and shoving them both into his teammates' hands.

Beneath his aloof exterior, Isaac can and does care for his friends, even if it may come off as beating someone up in order to prove a point. He is a genuine person and wants to help save people alongside Scott and Derek, even if he is still clouded by his opinions of the alpha pack. He still blames them for the deaths that are happening in Beacon Hills and claims that he will kill the twins if given the chance.

[personal profile] nedly 2013-07-07 03:49 pm (UTC)(link)
History: Page on the "Pushing Daisies" wikia.
Appearance: Look at this guy, 6'3" and nearly permanently nervous.
Personality:
Despite (or maybe because of) all that contact with dead people, the deaths of strangers is one of the few subjects Ned is comfortable with. After his father abandons him at the tender age of nine years, directly after his mother's death, Ned has difficulty facing problems head-on. He feels that, like his father, he'll end up hurting people some way or another.

Ned the Piemaker has the manner of an overgrown teenager, not quite comfortable in his own skin. Despite being over 6' tall, he's uncertain, stumbling over his own feet, stuttering constantly and rambling out of nervousness. In the Pie Hole, Olive is the one who handles customers almost all of the time. Ned sticks around in the back, reviving fruit and making his pies. Not only is he awkward, he's also an awful liar. Not only does his eye twitch, the rest of his face and body language betray him as well. Besides, guilt usually keeps him from keeping up any level of deceit.

Key word being usually. When Ned finds it necessary, he can keep secrets exceedingly well. The stand-out example is Ned's relationship with his girlfriend, Chuck. While he loves her dearly, he avoids telling her for most of the first season that he (accidentally) killed her father when he was ten. Which is kind of a big deal. Chuck accuses him of being too obsessed with secrets and that he wants to have "half-secret, half-human babies", even before she knows that he's been keeping the secret about her father's death. Ned keeps secrets, not only because he doesn't want Chuck to know that he inadvertently killed her dad, but also because he doesn't like trouble. Ned, in fact, hates trouble. Everything he does is meant to prevent himself from getting noticed, which is difficult when he's tall and can, well, raise the dead.

It's that second trait that has led to most of Ned's neuroses and physical tics. After accidentally killing not only his mother but also his best friend's father, Ned is terrified of hurting anyone else he's close to. This manifests in being unwilling to touch people — he keeps his hands behind his back as much as he can, and tries to make himself look small. It doesn't really work. He's highly-strung, too, jumping when startled and usually most comfortable on his own. Ned isn't a brave man, and certainly no hero by most standards. He describes himself as living a simple life, and his main desire is to have a normal, happy life baking pies with his few friends.

While he likes being on his own, Ned's few relationships are extremely important to him. His partner in the business of solving homicides, Emerson, is one of the few people who know his secret ability. While Emerson finds it out accidentally, Ned trusts him with the secret and works with Emerson on his cases. Olive, the main waitress at his diner, is another one of the constants in Ned's life. And finally, Chuck, his girlfriend, is the sole object of Ned's romantic affections. These people are so important to him that Ned goes through several morally questionable actions to keep them safe, including breaking and entering, minor felonies, and bringing people back from the dead.

Abilities:
WAKING.
With one touch, Ned can revive anything dead. This includes people, animals, and plants. However, this ability has severe limitations. If he touches the subject of his ability again, they will return to death, this time permanently. Additionally, if the subject stays 'alive-again' for 60 seconds or more, a life of 'equal' worth is ended, usually based on proximity. For example, after reviving his childhood sweetheart in a funeral home, the funeral director nearby drops dead once 60 seconds have passed.

BAKING.
And cooking, too, but "waking and baking" sounds better than "waking and baking and cooking". Ned attended some kind of culinary school after leaving boarding school and received professional training as a cook. His diner, the Pie Hole, serves pie exclusively, but Ned also displays an extensive knowledge of other foods, including gourmet truffles. His pies are known to be the best in town, and sell well, aided by their forever-fresh fruit filling.

Other: Nothing.

SAMPLES
First Person:
Musebox thread.
Third Person:
This is nice. Warm sun, a pleasant breeze, and soft grass under his feet. At least, he assumes that it's grass. He hasn't opened his eyes yet. Ned's toes curl inside his shoes as he stretches his arms to either side and then above his head, eyes squeezed shut as he takes a large, bracing breath of fresh air. He feels out of it, which isn't so great, but he'll just wash up and brush his teeth before he goes down to the Pie Hole and he should wake right up.

...wait. Grass. Breeze. Sun. Something is terribly Wrong, capital-W Wrong. Maybe even capital-T Terribly, too, he amends as he opens his eyes and gets unsteadily to his feet. Where on earth is he? He's not in his apartment, and as he looks around frantically, he realizes that Chuck isn't here either.

Ned swallows. He takes a deep breath.

"Chuck?" His voice cracks, and he winces, turning in place. He's on someone's lawn. Oh god, what if he fell asleep on someone's lawn? He'll have to apologize and make excuses about events he doesn't even remember. This is definitely Terrible.

"Chuck? Emerson?" Neither are anywhere to be seen. Ned whimpers, shuffling around in the same place, and calls out again. "Olive?" If Olive isn't here, then he's in big trouble. So much trouble, the time he accidentally touched the guy in the taffy vat will look like nothing. He has no idea where he is. Panicking, he starts for the gate at a loping half-run, still looking over his shoulder at the house he woke up in front of. At the very least, he can reduce his trespassing time, right? That has to count for something.

[personal profile] badbreak 2013-07-07 06:50 pm (UTC)(link)
IC INFORMATION
Characters Name: Badou Nails
Age: 14 (younger than current canon, flashback age)
Canon: DOGS/DOGS; Bullets & Carnage
Canon Point: Pre-series, immediately after Dave's murder/disappearance and the loss of his eye.
Species: Human
Gender: Male
Orientation: FOURTEEN

History: DOGS/DOGS; B&C focus on the stories of 4 main protagonists, unkillable zombie Heine, PI Badou, swordswoman Naoto, and old gun Mihai, coming together against a backdrop of genetic modification and rampant family fuckery. Since this younger version of Badou has not yet grown up into the 21-year old suicide junkie, nor met Heine, Naoto, or Mihai, to go on and have further wacky adventures, I’m not going to focus too much on the plot of main story, since it doesn’t have much to do with what I would actually be playing, which centers around the flashbacks/the one-shot/Dave/Badou’s growth of character in response to Dave, and the main themes of family, violence, and life in the Underground.

The DOGS world is a rough place to live. Set in some arbitrarily European dystopian future, Badou lives underground in what can be compared to Gotham City on genetic modification. Violence, prostitution, crime, corruption in the government, and fucking around with your DNA is common. While Badou is one of the main characters in the series, out of the main four protagonists we have the least information about his pre-series past. These tidbits about his past tend to come in the form of Badou’s own, subjective comments, or private flashbacks that (usually) involve Dave and the one-shot Miwa did of Badou having a bad day and reminiscing. Badou is generally not very forthcoming about his past largely because of Dave – while he eventually claims to Heine and Naoto he once had a brother, it’s only after a policeman has already mentioned him. Likewise, in the flashbacks, the focus is always on Dave’s dialogue, Dave’s dreams, and Dave’s influence on Badou. It’s through this that we come to understand how Badou’s character and Dave’s character both directly correlate and starkly contrast one another, Dave’s influence (or non-influence) having constant cause-and-effect changes on a young Badou.

Pre-series, it is shown that Badou and Dave lived together in one of the city’s many squalid flats. No parents or other siblings are ever mentioned in the Nails family, and one way or another, it is left up to Dave to raise his younger brother, Badou. The panels which show their living together tend to have only the bare essentials – a couch to sleep on, a table to eat on, etc etc. In the one-shot flashback, Dave is bitching about money, making their below-average income state even more apparent (the cost of cigarettes is too high, much less the cost of living). And it’s no wonder – the brothers live off the erratic paychecks of Dave, a self-proclaimed private investigator and freelance journalist. Dave worked digging up dirt and causing riots and scandals in the news, doing jobs at irregular hours and making enemies in low places. Badou makes offhand mentions in the series that he’d tagged along and actively helped on some of his brother’s jobs; giving him both a taste for digging up info and the adrenaline-high style of that “hardboiled life.” Dave’s last job – that of investigating the genetic modification going on in the Below, it’s ties to those High Up – is what eventually draws Badou’s story into the main series’ web of characters. Dave’s murder is a catalyst for Badou, more negative from the start, to jump into the “bullets and carnage” that is Heine and Naoto’s path downwards.

Appearance:
Like his brother, Badou has a messy head of shocking orange-red hair, perpetually scruffy. Badou’s hair is longer than Dave’s, grown out to just above his shoulders, and his remaining eye is the same shade of green as his brother’s. Living underground, Dave and Badou aren’t exactly tan – they are extremely pale, with the odd smattering of dusty freckles.

As for build, from the start, Badou is a lanky motherfucker – where Dave is broader and stockier, Badou is all angles and bones, thin and tall for his age, already clocking in at 5’4. Badou’s final canon height is suspected be around 6’1, and this junkyard bone awkwardness would be at its fucking peak at the tender age of 14 and shitty. Where Dave’s body strength is centered more in his chest and core, Badou’s is outsourced into wiry arms and legs.

Neither male is exactly healthy looking, as they subsist on (Badou’s homemade) diet of whatever the fuck was around/whatever the fuck they could afford. Nevertheless, there’s a certain brittle quality about Badou that speaks to a cockroach, survivalist disposition. Badou is probably often bruised, bandaged, and bleeding, kicking around like the punkass he is in shitty jeans and t-shirt.

IC INFORMATION
Characters Name: Shion Uzuki
Age: 23
Canon: Xenosaga
Canon Point: Start of the third game
Species: Human
Gender: Female
Orientation: Straight. She's pretty hung up on her dead fiance, who was male. And in the end, she gets shacked up with the dude who pined over her for three games, so it's pretty safe to say she's into guys. THOUGH, there are some pretty heavy f/f undertones in her relationship with her android, KOS-MOS, so... I'm okay with either sex for a spouse tbh!

History: One of the most involved histories ever, sorry!
Appearance: worst shoes
Personality: When we first meet Shion, she is a stubborn and headstrong girl. She's endured a lot of pain and loss in her past, but she hides her sorrow with an enduringly cheerful attitude. She's very polite to people she first meets, and she is very energetic and outgoing. She tends to keep most people at arm's length (such as coworkers or people she meets under normal circumstances), so they don't really see anything past the bright and happy scientist. In reality though, Shion's cheerful disposition is a front, a mask she uses to hide her pain and loneliness.

Shion has a difficult time truly connecting with others. She has faced the loss of many loved ones in her past, and it has seriously damaged her ability to get close to others. Also because of these losses, Shion's life was overwhelmed with the fear of death at one point. After the death of her fiance, Kevin, her outlook was bleak, and it seemed that life was just an uncertain waiting period before death. The only thing that managed to distract Shion from this state was her work.

After Kevin's death, work became the most important thing in Shion's life. It was the one thing she could completely throw herself into without the fear of being abandoned. She also felt that the KOS-MOS project, which is WHAT she was working on, connected her to Kevin, as he had created it. Shion is often delighted by KOS-MOS's progress, and seems to care more about the project than she does about her own safety. She feels the project is the only thing left that ties her to Kevin, since he created it. So it's the most valuable thing in the world to her. Since she has uncovered some of the crimes that may have been committed by those who have created the technology that has made their way of life possible, Shion has found a new sense of purpose. Investigating the UMN and Vector industries, which she has thrown herself into just as fully as she had with the KOS-MOS project.

Shion can be considered something of a technology genius. Shion was asked to join Vector because of a paper she had written, before she had completed much (or any, maybe) college education. And though KOS-MOS's initial designs were completed when she joined the project, Shion had a huge part in developing KOS-MOS's OS, and upkeeping the android. She also has some background in Realian (synthetic humans) psychology and had hoped to be a therapist, helping Realians adjust to life among normal humans. Despite her scientific knowledge, she can be terribly naive at times, and can even seem to totally lack common sense. Her actions are often driven by her emotions. When she becomes distraught or angry, her stubbornness is almost impossible to abate, and she often makes decisions or takes actions without any regard to her personal safety or as to what the outcome might be.

She can also be extremely oblivious to her surroundings at times. This is best illustrated with her relationship with Allen Ridgeley. Allen has been Shion's coworker for years, and he has always harbored a pretty intense crush on her. His advances are sometimes the victim of circumstance (his declarations of love being down out by the sound of cargo doors opening, etc.), but at times, his affection is displayed right in front of Shion, and she doesn't acknowledge it at all. It's never completely clear whether she is intentionally ignoring it, or if she is really so naive that she doesn't understand that he has feelings for her. Most of the time, it seems to be a strange combination of both. She is STILL mourning Kevin, years after his death, and she doesn't have romance on her mind because of that. It seems like the idea that someone might fall for her is completely foreign to her now. Shion only sees Allen as someone else to bitch at a coworker and friend anyway.

There's also the aspect of Shion's strained family life. As a child, Shion admired her brother greatly. She especially looked up to him when he entered the military. But when her parents were in danger, she really thought Jin would rescue them. He did manage to rescue Shion, but not their parents. Because he didn't get there in time for her mom and dad, her feelings toward him kind of changed. She still remembers that respect she held for him as a child, but in a way she blames him for the deaths of their parents. While she blocked out her memories of that incident, she still holds a lingering resentment and fear of abandonment. That is why one of Shion's greatest fears is that her loved ones will die or leave her.

Abilities: Shion's weapon, the MWS (multi-weapons system), amplifies Shion's strength and speed. Whenever she fights using her weapon, she can hit much harder than normal. It also has a few other functions, like it can electrocute others or produce a blade made of energy. She has a few special attacks relating directly to using her weapon:

Break Bash - Single: heavy break (break being a gauge that, when filled, renders the enemy unable to attack for a few turns and lowers their defense greatly) attack + higher critical to human enemies.
Lunar Blade I - Single (short range): medium physical attack.
Lock Shot - All: medium beam ether attack + seal boost.

Otherwise, like many Xenosaga characters, Shion can use Ethers which are Xenosaga's equivalent or typical RPG magic spells. These are actually the product of nanomachines inside the person's body. Shion's ethers are as follows:

Analyze - Analyze an enemy's data.
Medica S - Recover small amount of HP.
Medica S All - Recover small amount of HP for all allies.
Fire Bolt I - Small fire attack.
Beam Bolt I - Small beam attack.
Ice Bolt I - Small ice attack.
Satellite I - Small beam attack to all enemies.

Things that probably wouldn't be affected by the humanizing of arriving at Holly Heights:

Cooking: Shion really enjoys cooking, especially curry, which she always makes sweet. She's rather good at it, as she worked as a waitress and cook at a cafe while attending high school.
Martial arts: Shion was trained, from a young age, in martial arts by her grandfather, and later by her brother. She's proficient with swords, and hand to hand combat. Her kicks are supposed to be amazingly strong.
Science and Engineering!: Her lack of common sense might seem to indicate otherwise, but Shion is actually very intelligent. She has a pretty intimate knowledge of KOS-MOS's inner workings, outside of her black boxes, of course. She's considered very skilled by many in her fields.
Being durable: Shion has survived countless gnosis attacks that would have killed an average person, an FAE (fuel-air explosion) that killed everyone around her who wasn't inside a mecha unit, and many other things. She's pretty hard to kill!

Other: SO, back in Shion's universe, there's sort of a god that lives in a higher layer of reality, and the god is called U-DO. Being a descendant of the immigrant fleet, the first people to flee earth back in the day, Shion has the ability to connect and communicate with U-DO. She usually passes out when she communicates with it, and it's a huge strain on her health.

U-DO is also... a battery of sorts for their universe? Things like their ESes (giant mechs) and KOS-MOS draw their energy FROM U-DO. SO if a character like KOS-MOS (or Abel, since he is U-DO's physical lower domain form) ever applied at Holly Heights, either U-DO would have to exist there, in the number domain of Holly Heights OR KOS-MOS would never be able to regain her android form, OR there would have to be an alternate means of powering them.

lmao SORRY XENOSAGA IS THE MOST COMPLICATED UNIVERSE EVER but I guess what I am asking is would it be possible for U-DO to exist there?? Honestly, if he DID exist there, it wouldn't change much? U-DO is simply a being which observes and powers the lower domain. It doesn't get involved past asking inane questions when Shion connects with it. SO YEAH. :'D

SAMPLES
First Person: here!

Third Person:

"I don't get it."

Shion sat at her kitchen table, looking a little frustrated. In front of her, the cellphone she had received on the first day was in pieces. It had been meticulously disassembled, and each piece was laid out, carefully organized on a towel. She picked up the small motherboard again and turned it over in her hands, frowning at the simple circuitry.

"It's primitive technology... The technology used to gather people from so many different universes had to have been more advanced than this. Unless, of course, we were just given the bare minimum to keep ourselves occupied with. Either way, there's not much I can do with this."

There was a note of disappointment in her voice. She wasn't even sure what she had expected or hoped to find inside the cellphone. Answers? Something she could use to try to find the UMN? There were so many puzzling things about Holly Heights but the lack of the UMN was what plagued her the most. The network was supposed to reach everywhere! Into every corner of the entire universe. So how could they be outside of its range? Where were they?

She began to put her phone back together quietly. The process was a lot faster than she thought it would be, and once again, she was left with little to distract her from all of her perpetually unanswered questions.

IC INFORMATION
Characters Name: Maximum Ride
Age: 16
Canon: Maximum Ride
Canon Point: Nevermore Epilogue; post-series
Species: Human (Avian-American)
Gender: Female
Orientation: Heterosexual. Both of her canon interests were male. And while one of her love interests was based mostly on feelings and history, her brief interest in Dylan was less emotion-based, and had physical-related aspects. Max shows a physical attraction to males, where she only ever shows (jealous) admiration of pretty girls.

History: Max has been through a lot, with a story that spans seven books; with a lot of it having to do with saving the world and all. Why? Because Max and her flock are special. Always have been. They are Avian-Americans, as they like to call themselves. What it means is that she and her flock are products of science – humans spliced with avian DNA. All of them have full-sized wings that allow them to soar effortlessly through the air like birds. The whole flock has them, give or take a few other special traits and powers they developed due to their days in the scientific institute known as the School.

Unlike the rest of the flock, Max knows who her parents are – Jeb Batchelder and Valencia Martinez; although that proves to be as painful as it is wonderful for her at times. She also has a half-sister Ella Martinez and a half-brother named Ari. Jeb Batchelder was a white coat (a scientist) who had been involved in their tests at the school. He was also the one who said he took pity on them and helped them escape. For a time he had even taken care of all of them like a father. But he disappeared two years before the start of the series and they had thought him dead until proven very wrong.

Jeb played a part in a lot of their adventures; sometimes helpful but usually anything but. His final stance in trying to kill Fang labeled him as an enemy and earned himself a square kick in the ribs and a loss of trust. Valencia Martinez was also a part of many of the flock’s later adventures, although she played a far more positive part. She had her secrets, but her actions had always been taken with the flock’s best interests in mind.

But the people that Max really knows as her ‘family’ is her flock. Good or bad, she can do without adults. It would hurt to lose her mom or her half-sister, but losing a member of the flock would be an entirely different pain; nearly unbearable. Through almost every horror, they have stuck together – they’ve been together since the beginning, and have a bond that really can’t be broken. As much as they fight, they come together again because they love each other.

And in their family, Max has always been the mom. After Jeb left, she became leader and mom all in one. Angel especially, she calls he baby, but she often says how much they’re like a family – how they’re all like her brothers and sisters.

Except. You know. Fang. That changes over the course of the series from like-brother to crush to the love of her life. It isn’t an easy transition though. Their relationship is complicated and has plenty of bumps including your average beginning relationship drama, Dylan, Fang leaving the flock at one point, jealousy, and Fang’s return and all the emotional fighting that came with that. But in the end Max chooses Fang. She chooses him over Dylan who was ‘made’ to be her perfect other half, and their ending is a happy one.

But what they go through to get there as a group is no walk in the park. What began as a life of solitude – living the fight or flight lifestyle; just trying to stay away from the whitecoats turns into an adventure to save the kidnapped Angel, which turns into a convoluted adventure to save the world. Unfortunately for them, that includes fighting the School’s other experiments. It didn’t end with them. No. There are many generations and alterations – with so many failures, but also plenty of “successes”, most of which were used against Max and her flock at one point or another.

They have their successes and their failures, but despite their sacrifices, in the end they are fairly powerless. They all survive, protected by the safe haven made for them. But they’re powerless to stop the threat against humanity. And while they didn’t see what happened outside of their haven, Max and Fang had chosen to try, and got caught up in some of the dangers.

Appearance: link

Personality: Of the flock, Max is the oldest. As such, she always pushes herself the hardest. She tries to act the part of mother, sister, friend, and leader, all kind of rolled up into one. And it’s hard on her, trying to be more than one at one time. Because as leader, she often has to make decisions that the flock may not like in their best interest. Max sees herself as needing to be the strong, invincible one – in control and powerful; the one who always has a plan. Which is why it frustrates her when she has to make those decisions; and why she hates losing control of situations. Most of her life, she was the one in control of her life; she isn’t used to taking orders from others. It’s hard for her just taking suggestions, although she’s gotten a lot better about taking a moment and thinking it through – and even taking suggestions when she has to admit (hesitantly) that it would be the right thing to do.

While Max tries to be the most responsible of the group, she fails in a few areas – namely cooking. Her cooking is atrocious, and not even close to looking edible. People like to tease her about it, although she can deal. She can be loud and head-strong, but she does enjoy dishing out the sarcasm and teasing the others right back whenever someone else throws such comments at her.

She trusts kids her age over adults. In fact, it’s really difficult for her to trust adults. They’ve been betrayed so many times that her default is to distrust. And while she isn’t impossible to win her over, it’s not easy, or fast. Though Max has chilled out a lot since the beginning of the series, and would even call herself happy, she still has a lot of her old instincts. In closed spaces, her first instinct will always be to map out routes of escape.

Max’s first instinct for those younger than her is to protect them. Her first instinct for scientists is to panic. Regular adults are difficult to trust but scientists are near impossible. The scent of chemicals or the visual of white lab jackets or cages freaks her out. And in a dangerous situation, her first though is ‘fight or flight’. In the first few seconds she thinks about the situation, about the options she has and what the best choice is.

Her social skills need some work. The idea of ‘normalcy’ still gets on her nerves a little, considering her inability to fit in or ever be normal. As much as she tries to act like she doesn’t want it, she does wish she could be normal – that they didn’t have to always fight for their lives, watch their backs and generally distrust anyone. She wished she had someone she could rely on and trust; that she didn’t have to be strong all the time, but because she’s ruled that out as an impossibility for so long, the idea, and talk of it, irritates her. Around other kids, she can get along with them, but she’s not a big socializer. She’s not popular, but she’s not the type people pick on either. She used to keep to herself a lot in school, not being very feminine or interested in the other things girls liked talking about. Max tended to get along better with boys in school.

She isn’t very picky about her appearance. She started at least trying to keep her hair brushed, but after years of being on the run and fighting and trying to save the world – her appearance is one of the last things on her mind. That’s why she’s lucky that her soul mate Fang likes her just the way she is.

Max is also known to have a strong sense of justice. With those younger or weaker than her, she likes to protect them. If she sees someone in trouble, she’s going to interfere and do whatever she can to help them out, even if it’s a bit risky on her part.

Abilities: Max can appear perfectly normal, though she’s abnormally developed for her age due to her recombinant DNA. There’s an indentation between her shoulder blades that can hide her wings neatly. But with her wings extended, she’s perfectly capable of flying, and flying much faster than the other flock members; her flying speeds can reach 240-260 MPH. It’s one of her unique abilities.

Like the rest, she also has great raptor vision, far surpassing that of humans. Max is also the only one who is capable of hearing the Voice that speaks inside her head, though it may or may not be considered an ability. The Voice often gives her direction, though she is hesitant to listen to it, as none of them know exactly who or what it is. Max can also breathe underwater. Her natural fighting skills surpass those of humans. Her bones are physically built to sustain a higher level of force, despite being light-weight and hollow. Max is used to fighting, and is rather good at it. She has sharp reflexes and can fight with the best of them.

However, her abilities are mostly human, other than the ability to fly, they’re just kicked up a notch to be slightly stronger than humans. However, she also comes to realize that she has the ability to go into a state of suspended animation, which means she can make her body function as if it’s dead and quite literally play dead. As each of the flock began to uncover their own abilities, they came to the conclusion that they were all mutating independently; each gaining their own unique skills and abilities.

Other: I want to app her with the memories of her previous time spent in Holly Heights in tact.

SAMPLES
First Person: ( Max addresses the network casually, not nearly as bothered as the first timers. )

Hey. Here we are again.

If you don’t know me, then - I’m Max. I was here before… a while ago. It’s been quite a while hasn’t it?

( She seems to look over her shoulder at the calendar at the thought. )

I’m familiar with the routine. What I want to know, I guess, is who’s still around. ( …in short she’s both trying to reach out to new people and in a casual way… checking in on the people she remembers from before who are still here )

Things are a little different than I remember them. What happened while I was gone?

Third Person: She wakes up; no trees and no elaborate tree house in sight. Instead, her eyes gaze up at the open sky. Now, location is pretty important to Max. After all, when you’ve spent most of your life laying low, where you are at any point in time is pretty important. Especially when you don’t remember… leaving your house. But this is where Max senses a feeling of déjà vu. Blinking, she looks around at the residential gated community - and after a moment, a wry smile crosses her face.

“…Holly Heights, huh? Feels like I never really left, and yet… I definitely did.”

She picks at the keys in her hand and her expression becomes terse. Max gropes in her pocket for the phone she knows will be there.

“Wonder if ‘dad’ is still here.” Then, upon consideration she shakes her head. “He’s probably not going to be dad this time around.” She does her best to ignore the fact that there is a bit of disappointment in that realization. “Guess I’d better go meet the ‘rents.” That’s still not an idea she’s overly fond of. Adults are still hard to trust - so maybe they can be cool from hard to time, but when it comes down to it… the main person she needs to rely on is herself.

“…oh. Better see if he’s still here.”

That’s the other thing. Fang. Did she leave him here by himself for a while? Was he still here? She didn’t know. Easiest way to do it to flip through the contacts as she walks up towards the house - and she does, smiling when she stops at the front door and sees his name’s still there.

“Guess I’m going to have some explaining to do.”

IC INFORMATION
Characters Name: Serah Farron
Age: 21
Canon: Final Fantasy XIII-2
Canon Point: During the final battle with Caius
Species: Human
Gender: Female
Orientation: Heterosexual. She has a male fiance in the game and is very close to Noel.

History: http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Serah_Farron
Appearance: http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20111229124343/finalfantasy/images/f/fc/Serah_Farron_Alt_Render.png
http://vacanerd.com.br/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/ffxiii-2_keyart_02_small.jpg
Personality: Serah is a kind hearted young woman who is mature beyond her years. This is partially due to the fact that her parents died at such a young age and she and her sister were left to fend for themselves for much of it. With her sister Lightning, who is only three years older than her, acting as a guardian, she wasn't afforded the ability to be completely immature like other kids. Serah has proven her maturity time and time again, making her more than capable of making her own decisions. Serah had planned to enroll into the university in Eden just before she was chosen to be a l'Cie, having taken a liking to history. Planning out and preparing to enroll in college on her own had to take a measure of level headedness and maturity to accomplish. If that wasn't enough, Serah fell in love with Snow and decided to marry him. Instead of not caring about anyone's approval, Serah wanted to take things slow and try to gain her sister's blessing before getting married, even if it was unlikely. The trials that she faced afterwards only seemed to make her grow even more into a mature woman. After the events that happened after she was released from her crystal prison, Serah decided to go on a journey with a man she didn't know much about simply because her sister had asked her to. Another good example of her maturity is when she found out that she would have to die once the journey with Noel came to an end and the timeline was corrected. Serah chose to go through with correcting the timeline anyway, even though she knew what would happen. It was for the good of all of the people in the world, including those that she knew and loved. No matter how you look at it, Serah is about as mature as a twenty one year old lady can be.

Though, just because she is very mature for her age doesn't mean she doesn't know how to have fun and joke around. Serah likes to laugh and joke around with her friends, but when it's appropriate. She is seem laughing and teasing Noel many times during their journey to try and correct the timeline and find Lightning. There have been many times during her travels that Serah and Noel laugh together. She often offers him words of encouragement and advice when they have the chance to talk, trying her best to stay positive. When a person has to experience things that are trying, it's important to take pleasure in the small things.

Serah is an incredibly kind girl. She is willing to go above and beyond the norm in order to help someone. With very little information at all, Serah agreed to set out on a journey to find her sister. While it originally started because of her own desire to see her sister, it turned into something more than that. Serah wanted to save the people she cared for. She wanted to help make a better future for all of the people in the world, especially after hearing how the future would turn out for Noel. Because of her desire to right the wrongs that had been committed, her sacrifices were great. Not only did she put herself in constant danger while having to fight battles and gave up her normal life in New Bodhum, but in the end, she freely gave her own life for everyone's happiness. She cares deeply for her friends and loved ones, especially her sister Lightning. Serah seems to take Lightning's word very seriously, as she sought out her approval to marry Snow and set out immediately after hearing that her sister had asked her to. Serah also has a close relationship with Noel, the man she met one day during an attack on New Bodhum. During the journey, the two had saved one another's lives multiple times and Serah is very grateful to Noel for it. It's Serah's kind nature that makes her popular among the people in New Bodhum, as well. She has many friends and often shows kindness towards even strangers, making her well loved by many people.

Even so, Serah does have a more stern side when it comes to other people and children. Serah has earned herself the nickname of "Meanie Miss Farron" to the children that she teaches because of her strict policies on tardiness and behavior. She isn't afraid to put her foot down when it comes to her beliefs and has even been described as being mean. Though it's usually pretty rare, it has been said by her students that she has a short temper and won't hesitate to scold people that she sees doing wrong. This is largely thanks to her being raised so closely to Lightning, who has a similar issue with her temper. Noel made mention of the fact that she resembled Lightning so closely when she gets angry in the game during one of the cutscenes. Serah, however, doesn't really think that she is terribly mean or strict with kids and openly denies it.

Serah is a definitely a worrier. She doesn't make it overly apparent, for fear of becoming a burden on other people. However, she does worry often about every little thing. One of her main concerns is her sister. During the beginning of the first game, she worried about her sister's opinion and getting her approval of her engagement to Snow. After Lightning's disappearance, most of the game is spent worrying about whether her sister is okay or not. She also worries about if she will be able to see her again and if she's doing well wherever she is. It's because of the close bond that she worries so much about her. Serah also worries quite a bit about Noel due to periods of melancholy and sadness on his part, largely caused by Yeul and his future. The only person she really doesn't worry too much about is her fiance, Snow. She seems pretty confident that he knows how to take care of himself and that he is fine without her. She also worries about how changing the timeline will affect the people living in the world, especially her friends. It all comes back to Serah having a pretty big heart and being caring towards most people.

Serah, as a person, has gone through some changes from the end of the first game to the second. The loss of her sister, Lightning, was one of the hardest things for her to come to terms with. Serah had always depended on her sister for so much and was thrilled that she was reunited with her, but it was short lived. Lightning was taken away from her and no one seemed to remember the events that had happened the way she did. Serah was completely devastated by this and she even questioned her own sanity. After all, she was the only person who had remembered things the way they actually happened. It left Serah feeling isolated from her friends in her home. The only person who believed her was her fiance, Snow, who left immediately after talking to her about Lightning to go and find her again. While it was a noble gesture on his part, it only furthered her feelings of isolation. Serah was left in New Bodhum, simply living life day to day, doing nothing on her own to follow after Snow or find her sister. Witnessing the death of Yeul throughout the times also had a profound effect on Serah. While it seemed that Yeul was working against them at first along with Caius, Serah eventually learned what Yeul was and what her wish was. Yule was forced to see everything and be reborn until the end of time. Her wish was to see a better future, where people were smiling. Her wish touched Serah's heart and she wanted to stop Yeul from dying over and over again. It wasn't only for her sake, but for Noel's too, who had seemed to have been close to the Yeul in his own time. As things progressed and Serah learned that she was a seeress, too, she felt a sort of kinship with Yeul. She felt that it was her duty then to fulfill Yeul's wish, no matter what the cost was to herself. After all, it was her own wish, too.

Serah's fateful meeting with Noel completely turned her life around. He had come to her from another world with word from her sister. Not only did it allow her to reassure herself that she wasn't crazy, but it gave her hope. Lightning was still out there somewhere and she was waiting for Serah to come to her. While not completely trusting of Noel at first, she did come around after he proved some things that he had said to be true. Serah quickly became good friends with Noel and felt a sense of camaraderie with him. They learned to become a support system for one another. When Noel had his doubts and felt troubled about things, Serah was there to help him and reassure him that they would fix things. The same was true for Noel. Whenever Serah was in danger or was feeling conflicted about things, Noel was there to help her. While the journey started out primarily as a mission to find Lightning for Serah, it began to evolve into something more than that as she got to know Noel. She wanted to make a better future for the people of the world and especially Noel, who she had found that had come from such a horrible future where he was the only person left. Without Noel, Serah never would have been able to complete the journey in the first place. More than that, without Noel, Serah would never have been urged to take action.

Gaining the ability to fight made a huge change to who Serah was. Before receiving the bow as a present from Lightning, Serah was completely defenseless. She relied heavily upon others to protect her and generally had an attitude that she was helpless to do anything about things that were happening around her. Serah hadn't been able to save Lightning and couldn't do anything to help Snow in his search. If anything, she felt that she would only slow him down, so she did as she was told and stayed in New Bodhum. However, when she was given Mog and the ability to fight, Serah's attitude began to turn around. Having a way to defend herself and others opened up a whole new world to her. Serah was now able to travel wherever she wanted and could take an active role in trying to find her sister and save everyone. Also, as time passed, being able to fight gave Serah a sense of confidence in herself and her own abilities. Instead of being passive as she had been in the past, she had changed into a strong young lady who took a proactive approach to problems.

Serah had always been a mature girl, but her scope of the world was pretty limited at the beginning of the game. While she had been through things that normal people didn't have to go through, she could only see the here and now and didn't really have real concerns for the future. Also, after Lightning's disappearance and Snow's departure, Serah was very inward focused. She was worried about the things close to her and just living life on the island. However, once the journey began, she slowly began to see that the problems that she faced were so much bigger than just herself. Getting to know Noel and traveling through time was really an eye opener for Serah. She was given a first hand view of how the future was going to turn out and the tragedies that would be brought down upon people if nothing was done to fix it. Seeing the ruin that each jump through time had and the paradoxes that had been created made Serah realize that she couldn't just stand by and do nothing. Besides, fixing the timelines accomplished two important things at once: they were helping make a better future for everyone, especially Noel, and it brought them closer to Lightning. The journey matured Serah even further when she realized that her life would come to an end if they continued to fix the twisted timeline. However, Serah realized that it was more important to set things right and save her loved ones. She decided to give her life for this purpose and not put a burden on the people around her.
Abilities: Serah is one of the seeresses, so she has the ability to see the future and see the changes in the timeline. However, she can't control the ability and the visions come to her randomly. She has the ability to do magic, as most Final Fantasy characters do, but other than that, most of her ability comes from the special bow she carries. The bow is actually a Mog that changes into a bowsword, a gift from her sister. Serah seemed to pick it up effortlessly when it first arrives with Noel.

IC INFORMATION
Characters Name: Alita Tiala
Age: 21
Canon: Ace Attorney (specifically, Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney)
Canon Point: Post-game
Species: Human
Gender: Female
Orientation: Heterosexual, for all intents and purposes; Alita expresses no interest in women and was canonically engaged to a man -- albeit for the sake of his money rather than his character.

History:
Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney
Alita’s background + role
Appearance: Here!
Personality:

At first blush, Alita is the ideal young woman. She’s demure, polite, soft-spoken and certainly beautiful. Anybody would have envied Wocky Kitaki for having so fantastic a fiancée. Loyal. Trustworthy, if secretive. Sweet. True to her appearance, she’s a little angel.

Alita is the one who first approaches Apollo about defending Wocky against murder charges and is deferential, if timid, while doing so. She submits to Apollo a humble, seemingly earnest plea later in the case, begging him to protect her husband-to-be.

❝I’m sorry, I don’t know much about the case. I...I feel so helpless. You’re my only hope. Please, help my Wocky-Pocky…❞

It is only natural, then, to arrive at the conclusion that Alita is an upstanding, devoted woman, girlfriend, and daughter-in-law.

This is all but a carefully constructed façade that comes crumbling down as the trial reaches its fever pitch.

The true Alita Tiala is a selfish, opportunistic manipulator with little regard for anyone other than herself. As a nurse in the Meraktis Clinic, she quickly saw the opportunity for easy money and a life of comfort and luxury when she treated the nigh fatally injured Wocky. She purposely withheld the information that the bullet near his heart would inevitably kill him in the near future for two reasons, both self-serving in nature: if the Kitaki crime family discovered that Alita and Meraktis were incapable of providing life-saving treatment to their son, they would have been as good as dead. Secondly, as previously mentioned, she intended on worming her way into Wocky’s (figurative) heart and marry him for his wealth and name. Her plan would obviously not go so smoothly if he had been equipped with the knowledge of his forthcoming demise.

❝Oh, I’m a bad girl. Sure. I got close to that brat because I wanted the money.❞

This all illustrates the sheer depth of Alita’s obsession with her own needs; she is willing to indirectly kill someone for the sake of material wealth.

However, Alita is also careless and sloppy in her dirty work and leaves several pieces of evidence behind in her scramble for self-preservation after murdering Meraktis. It seems that she places a greater emphasis on arrogance over logic; indeed, she possesses a sense of assuredness that everything will go as planned and that she is invincible to any kind of downfall -- at least, in the beginning of the trial.

To further corroborate the notion that she is more an emotional opportunist than a calculated killer, Alita cracks very easily under pressure from both Apollo and Klavier. It takes very little pressing for them to wring information and confessions from her compared to other guilty parties in the Ace Attorney series.

In essence, Alita is capable of constructing a charming façade, but at her core, she is a timeserver who is willing to do whatever she must in order to obtain what she wants -- and, in her instance, what she wants is often gratifyingly superficial luxury. She is certainly not an empathetic woman; she harbors little to no respect or concern for those around her unless they are of some use to her. Even then, the respect that she shows is but an act. Although prison may change her, her self-centered ways are so ingrained in her that it’s certainly doubtful.

IC INFORMATION
Characters Name: IF
Age: No official age but it's stated she's a teen / young adult. (let's just go with 18)
Canon: Hyperdimension Neptunia
Canon Point: Chp 1 of HDN V
Species: Human
Gender: Female
Orientation: In MK2 she kisses Nepgear to kickstart her powers because lily system and ~friendship~, and in the third game her kid self kinda said two girls saying they love each other was kinda hot. So for the most part she's bi/homosexual.

History: IF @ the HDN wiki
Appearance: Am I really scary-looking in the morning or something?
Personality:
In a world full of rpg mechanics and 4th walling you can consider IF to be the only sane man, or well women in this case. IF might seem cold on the outside but it’s because she spent a lot of her adventuring alone, until she party’d up with Neptune and Compa. At first she only thought of herself when it came down to fighting along with other matters such as money and even just leadership. Over time she opened up to her party members and started trusting them compared to just doing things herself. Even if it takes time her ice cold shell will melt and reveal a tomboy-ish adventurer.

Though she doesn’t like to admit it because of her tsundere-ish nature, if anything happened to her friends due to her lack of power then it’d be heartbreaking and painful. It shows a lot when Neptune and the other CPUs get captured in the graveyard and both her and Compa are not enough alone to save them. IF blames herself for it and only ends up beating herself up until Nepgear and Nisa join the party.

Besides being tsuntsun around her friends IF for the most part is really the only one with any sort of brains. She’s the one who ends up gathering information from the guild and making sure the party goes on quests. Sort of like the team mom but not really, it’s more of the annoying voice in the back of your head telling you to get off your lazy ass and work, though if you end up pissing her off she’ll end up breaking the 4th wall. But underneath all of that IF is somewhat nice, or at least she’s nice to Compa since she’s her childhood friend. She also respects the other party members even if she thinks everyone is a bit over the top sometimes.

IF also tends to well make comments about everything, she’s not one to hold back when something makes her angry or she gets annoyed. Mainly with Neptune’s lazy ways and over eating while they’re out questing. Even if what she says is slightly sarcastic it’s one of the few ways she shows that she cares about someone. Besides making comments IF is also a very good information seeker and tends to be well connected. Her cell phones are not just for show, she can use them to get info on almost anything. Though if you happen to take them away she ends up becoming a cry baby that has lost their safety item, so it’s a good idea not to touch them or break them or well it spells bad news for everyone. Overall she’s the solid character you don’t want to die or leave the party or else it spells bad news all around.

Abilities:
IF has a set of Qatars and guns allowing her to use both close range and long ranges attack combos. Along with this her speed and dodge stats are the best out of the main group.

She also has a power called "Treasure search" which allows the party to find chests in dungeons that would otherwise be hidden.

IF also has 9 cell phones in total, though they can only be used on the Guild's phone network for information searching and talking to other guild members.

Other: Since HDN has a very messed up timeline I'm taking her from the MK2/V universe. Since all the first game canon was retcon'd due to Compile heart's terrible gameplay.

To any guild members that are here as well, I am looking for information about the layout of this town along with any towns folk that are worth talking to. Places to sleep and get food would be helpful as well.

Information will be rewarded; I do not mind paying if need be. Or taking care of monsters if that is a preferred payment for some.

Neptune if you end up reading this I can still look up your account, don’t think I’m not keeping track of how much you’re spending on food. Also Compa don’t spoil her, if she keeps this up we’ll get in trouble with Gear and the others.

Third Person:
Monsters and questing were one thing IF could handle, having to take care of a “family” she knew nothing about was something she couldn’t deal with. Sure taking care of Neptune and Compa back home was sort of the same deal but those were her good friends, people she had known for most of her life. If only it could be npcs instead of player characters, that would have things so much easier conversation wise.

“Do I just leave out money or something… normally the others take care of the food stuff”

IF just kept mumbling to herself as she tapped on the counter top hoping no one saw her in this pitiful state of “what do I do now”. It would be slightly embarrassing for her and well she didn’t have her weapons so threatening someone to be quiet about it was out of the question.

“No use worrying about it, people can fend for themselves. It’ll teach them the first rule of survival of the fittest that’s for sure. “

As cruel as it sounded it was really the only way to go in this case or at least the only way IF knew how to handle it without doing much work on her part.

Character's Name: Phoenix Wright
Age: 25
Canon: Ace Attorney
Canon Point: Right after the third installment in the series.
Species: Human
Gender: Male
Orientation: Bisexual with a slight leaning toward women.  In canon, he has potential, arguable feelings for several people in his life--at the least, he is very platonically devoted to them (including both Maya and Edgeworth), without regard to gender.  I chose the marginal preference for women based on his college relationship with Dahlia Hawthorne.

History: Here!
Appearance: Here!
Personality:
Phoenix is many things, but first and foremost, he is a lawyer. Determined and resilient, he doesn't let much get in the way of doing his job the way he sees fit. He stands strong by the claim that he wins his cases because he knows his clients are innocent; he knows they're innocent, in turn, by believing what they say. In this way, then, Phoenix's faith in human nature is a strong point of his character--though it's also a bit of a downfall, as he tends to trust first and ask questions later. Still, he likes to think he can tell whether or not a person is truly good by just talking with said person a little while.

Although he thinks of himself as a good lawyer and a loyal friend, Phoenix realizes that he isn't invincible in any sense of the word. He knows when he's been beaten (or thinks he has), and when he gets desperate, he gets very desperate. He can crash and burn into a fit of despair quickly, but he always seems to bounce back to his usual, somewhat goofy self with the help of his friends.

Where those friends are concerned, Phoenix has a tendency to be incredibly reckless. He's been known to pull such crazy stunts as running across a burning bridge in an attempt to help a friend (in that particular situation, Maya Fey). In the same vein, however, he's also blessed with a sort of weird luck that keeps him from being hurt or even killed in the face of potentially life-threatening ordeals. Running across the burning bridge, for instance, resulted in his plummeting forty feet into a rushing river, only to come out with nothing more than a cold and a high fever for a day after the fact. In other instances, he's been attacked with a taser, swallowed a necklace, been clocked over the head with a fire extinguisher, and has managed to come out relatively unscathed from each of these events.

Although Phoenix tends to keep company with spirit mediums and other highly quirky people, he is still easily fazed by fairly everyday occurrences. He tends to be over-emotional at times, and panics equally when things get difficult in his job and when he's asked to front the payment for a dinner out at a restaurant, too. Sometimes he wonders if he lets people push him around too much--talking him out of his money and even convincing him to represent them pro bono in court--but he supposes it's worth it in the end to the see smiling, happy faces of his friends and acquaintances. So he plays the role of the slightly downtrodden underdog with as much grace as he can muster, and he cleans toilets and fumbles through tight situations, rides his bike in the rain and then somehow manages to pull together all the loose strings of his life and his vague evidence, and saves the day in court on a regular basis. Despite all of this, though, none of it seems to go to his head, and he thinks rather meekly of himself most of the time.

Abilities: Phoenix is very capable in court, and can talk his way out of messy situations with a sort of bumbling luck that comes across as finesse.
Other: I did apply (and got accepted) as Phoenix here some months ago. Unfortunately real life got crazy around that same time, and I never played actively. Things in my life are much more under control now, and I have every intention of being super active this time around!

Third Person:
It was the Fourth of July, and Phoenix was in his element.

Standing a safe distance from the surrounding building and any trees, he had positioned various fireworks--Roman candles, "flower bouquets," sparklers, smoke bombs and the like--safely in the ground before lighting them and ducking for cover. After each one, he laughed merrily and hurried off to set fire to another, and another, lighting up the early evening sky with brilliant color all the while. Fireworks were deeply important to him--some sort of callback to childhood and precious memories he did not want to ever lose--and he was enjoying every moment of this year's self-created display.

When an audience began to gather (probably spurred into watching by the man with ridiculous hair, giggling like a child as he set things on fire), it only further encouraged his half-crazy behavior.

"Happy Fourth of July!" he called to the crowd of mostly strangers, waving both arms high over his head. "Wanna help me celebrate?"

Whether or not they agreed, he was already back to work. He would continue for hours with his "calling" to shoot off the firecrackers, and would only lose a few eyebrow hairs in the process.

IC INFORMATION
Characters Name: Mary
Age: About 9 years old
Canon: Ib
Canon Point: Mary will be taken from after "A Painting's Demise" ending.
Species: Painting (appears human though)
Gender: Female
Orientation: Straight

History: Here
Appearance: Here
Personality:

The most important thing to remember about Mary is that despite the fact that she's not human, Mary still has the mindset of a child. She likes drawing, she likes cute things and playing with dolls, and she tends to speak bluntly, such as telling Garry that he's weird for being uncomfortable around the dolls in the gallery or not listening to him when he tries explaining why she should protect her rose. She also tends to be very talkative and even a little bossy, usually whenever she's with Ib. She's also somewhat selfish and demanding, which is shown in her ending of the game where she takes the candy that was given to Ib by Garry.

Because Mary is also a painting come to life in Guertena's art gallery, she's not as affected by the horrors going on around her. She thinks the creepy dolls in the art gallery are cute, and instead of being afraid of what's going on she starts asking Ib personal questions and tells Ib what she wants to do as soon as she escapes the Fabricated World. Unlike the other paintings though, she's the only one who has a desire to be human and actually leave the gallery. This relates back to the fact that Mary still has the mind of a child, and wants things that other children want - love and companionship. A lot of the items in her world, which looks like a child's sketchbook, have to do with fairy tales and books on how to make friends, which shows how lonely she was in the art gallery.

But like the paintings in Guertena's gallery, she also has a violent side. Since the only way to leave the gallery is by taking Garry or Ib's place, she has no problem with targeting Garry in order to escape. When Garry discovers her secret and she finds out, she starts stabbing a mannequin head while muttering "in my way" over and over. When she's aware that her cover's about to be blown, she starts becoming increasingly paranoid with Ib, trying to get Ib to promise that they'll always stay together. At one point when Ib starts to leave her behind, Mary's paranoia reaches its peak and she threatens Ib with a knife before Garry comes to the rescue. This shows that Mary is terrified about her identity being uncovered and will go to any kind of length to get what she wants. It's also proof that she doesn't understand how friendships work, one moment being sweet and caring and the next using violence. But this is because of the insecurity that if she's found out, she'll be abandoned and she might never be able to escape again. That's why she attacks Garry and Ib once they discover her painting, and even in one ending she holds Ib's rose hostage (which is their life force in the Fabricated World) in exchange for Garry's claiming she likes his color better, which is really just her plan of killing him off in order to escape.

Third Person:

Mary stopped crying when she realized she wasn't trapped in darkness anymore. The cool breeze on her skin, the warmth of the sun, all these things snapped her out of the terror she felt just a moment ago. She quickly dried her eyes as they became adjusted to their new surroundings. And she couldn't help but wonder if she'd finally made it to the outside world. Just a few seconds ago, the Gallery had trapped her inside without any hope of her ever leaving. But this place? It looked like everything she'd dreamed of. And there were so many people here too!

"I-Ib? Garry...?"

She sounds hesitant when she calls for them. They were still in the Gallery when she left them, and as far as she knows they couldn't have gotten out on their own. But as she takes in how blue and real the sky looks, she's finding it harder and harder to be concerned for them. She was outside now, and she's afraid to stand up to go investigate out of some fear that this really all could be a dream and she'd wake up in complete darkness again. But this place was all she could've wanted and even if it was a dream, it would be a pleasant one to play in for a little while, wouldn't it?

She dusts off her dress, and goes off to explore her new home.

Canon: Medaka Box
Canon Point: After the Successor Arc
Species: Human

hitoyoshi zenkichi | medaka box | reserved

[personal profile] devilcool 2013-08-01 05:19 am (UTC)(link)
Personality:

Ever since he was young, Hitoyoshi's life has been devoted to that of his childhood friend, Medaka Kurokami. The two met at a very young while Hitoyoshi was playing in the waiting area of his mother's workplace, a hospital. By chance, Medaka, who was at that hospital being studied for her special abilities, encountered a two year old Hitoyoshi and began to show off. Even at that age, Medaka was more gifted than most people in the world, leaving her feeling nihilistic and without purpose. Filled with childish awe, Hitoyoshi proclaimed that Medaka had been bestowed with her wondrous talent at all things in order to make other people happy. While at the time this was nothing more than the proclamation of a toddler, it would have a profound effect on Medaka and alter her world view drastically.

Throughout their lives the two were basically inseparable, with Hitoyoshi taking it upon himself to be Medaka's constant companion. His role was to do the things she couldn't because of her own blessed abilities and outlook on life, meaning he would often take a darker or less noble path in order to protect her. To a large extent his efforts may have been unnecessary, but this was more or less how he defined himself. After an event during their junior high school years that left Medaka traumatized, Hitoyoshi swore that he would protect her and prevent anything like that from happening again.

Of course, the inherent contradiction in his belief was that Medaka would always be better than him at nearly everything. He would have to work tirelessly at all things in order to simply stand at her side, compensating for his own lack of talent or exceptional abilities merely through effort. Somewhere along the way his personality became slightly more jaded and cynical, as he needed to counterbalance Medaka. While Medaka always believed the best in others and trusted them to a fault, Hitoyoshi took it upon himself to be more suspicious and prudent. He often acts as if he's troubled by having to accompany Medaka in her various exploits, but it's always quite clear that that's exactly where he wants to be. As he will often say in any situation, regardless of the consequences, "Medaka is right." His unerring belief in her righteousness and moral correctness enables him to follow her no matter what she does. When Medaka becomes Student Council President of their high school, he ends up being the only other member of her student council for a while... until eventually the other positions are filled as well.

While for all intents and purposes a "Normal" within the confines of Medaka Box's story, he perhaps shows just how much a Normal is capable of doing. Characters in Medaka Box are characterized as Normals, Specials, and Abnormals, a psuedo-ranking of a character's abilities. Normals are just as they sound, those who aren't particularly exceptional in any way. Specials go beyond that, usually standing above others and having abilities greater than those of normal people. Abnormals, on the other hand, are truly one of a kind talents that go beyond the capabilities of human beings. They each possess enormous talent and special skills, more or less making them superhuman. While Medaka is the epitome of an Abnormal, Hitoyoshi remains a Normal (well... mostly). He develops a wide range of skills and abilities, but nothing beyond normal human abilities. Despite that, he must often oppose Specials and Abnormals in order to protect Medaka, a task that slowly becomes more than he can handle. In one particularly climactic battle, he literally gives his life in order to protect Medaka, gladly accepting death if that means he can also take Medaka's greatest foe with him.

Of course, death in Medaka Box is more a temporary state of being than a permanent one, and he is return to life not long after. However, upon being revived, he is granted a new special ability, an Abnormality, by another character, and slowly begins to develop this new skill. From this point onward he begins to truly feel his own constraints and limits, culminating in him feeling that he can never truly be Medaka's equal because of his own normalcy. Conflicted by his competing desires to stay by her side and to catch up with her, he finds himself facing an impossible choice: the only way that he can make Medaka truly see him as an equal is to oppose and defeat her.

It is also around this time that he comes to the (somewhat obvious) realization that he is in love with Medaka. Feeling that his love can never be reciprocated if he does not change the status quo, he finally proclaims that "Medaka is wrong." With those words Medaka realizes that he's turned his fangs upon her, and gladly accepts him as an enemy. Strangely, despite opposing one another, the two still remain rather cordial and friendly, with little changing in the dynamic between the two. Hitoyoshi struggles with deciding just how he can defeat Medaka, in a truly meaningful way. He recognizes that in most stories, the obvious solution would be to defeat her in a fight, but what would that prove? He finally comes to realize there is only one way to truly defeat Medaka: to beat her at what she cares about most. He decides to run against her to become the next Student Council President.

Although he never really believes he can succeed, he nonetheless decides to give it all that he can. He comes to realize that the words he told to Medaka as a child have actually become a burden that she's had to bear since then, to a fault. Instead of living for herself, Medaka has always, unfailingly, lived to make other people happy. By taking the Student Council President spot, Zenkichi believes that he'll be able to show Medaka that her way of living is incorrect. That she must also live for her own happiness, rather than devoting her entire being to others. Through this belief, Zenkichi also manages to convince the rest of the student body that they've relied too much on Medaka, and they elect Zenkichi as the 100th Student Council President in order to relieve Medaka of that burden.

Throughout the series, Zenkichi is always characterized as incredibly stubborn and determined. He possesses a fairly high level of insight when viewing situations and other people, prioritizing his friendships and relationships with others. His growth throughout the series is coming to realize his own feelings and motivations, something that he often overlooked. Because Medaka always worried more about other people than herself, Zenkichi worried more about Medaka than anyone else. They both come to realize that their views are somewhat warped as a result; while they undeniably remain incredibly important to one another, they also begin to distance themselves from each other more. While Zenkichi begins to story as a somewhat mundane viewpoint character, he slowly rises from being a "Normal" to something else entirely, managing to surpass a character that, for all intents and purposes, could never be beaten at anything. The narrative itself acknowledges that his ambition is to become the Main Character of the story, something he actually manages to achieve (however briefly).

Abilities:

Throughout most of the series, Zenkichi is considered to be mostly normal, although he does demonstrate extremely high physical prowess. After training himself extensively in order to keep up with the people around him, he becomes very skilled at various martial arts. His specialty is the French combat style Savate, a defensive style that mostly focuses on disarming his opponents. He's also demonstrated at least passing knowledge of other forms of combat, particularly judo and boxing. His physical strength is high enough that when he stomps one of his feet on the ground hard enough, it's sufficient to create a small earthquake (okay so that doesn't sound normal at all, but within the confines of this story it apparently is).

Later in the story Zenkichi develops special abilities (which kind of undermines his entire character, but I digress). After coming back from being blind and dying, he's granted "Parasite Seeing" - in essence, to restore his sight, he's given a vision based ability from another character. Parasite Seeing allows Zenkichi to perceive things from another person's viewpoint; in other words he can see through another person's eyes. In combat, this allows him to basically always predict another person's movements, since he can see what they're looking at and where they're aiming. Using Parasite Seeing causes his eyes to turn red and glow.

His other main skill is called Devil Style, any ability that he chose and developed himself. Devil Style is a skill that negates any element of chance or luck - in other words, it is intended to make hard work and ability the only determining factor in a battle. A subversion of most story tropes in shounen stories (and intended to be), it basically serves to make accidents and coincidences that allow a main character to defeat a superior opponent from ever occuring. It also has the effect of basically preventing luck based circumstances that occur in most stories, such as fortunate and accidental encounters.

Later on in the story, after being Student Council President, Zenkichi develops his own "Altered Gode Mode," basically a powered up version of himself where his hair changes color. It causes his own Parasite Seeing to shift, changing from being able to perceive other people's viewpoints to being able to see his own limits. Being able to see his own limits makes him astutely aware of just what he is capable of in battle, allowing him to always make accurate judgments. In other words, he will never take a chance based on the idea that he "might" be able to pull something off, because he will always be sure of what he can or cannot do. In this mode, he's also somehow able to harden his hands and arms to become as sharp as blades, allowing him to fight sword users with his bare hands. It's not really clear how or why he's able to do this, but oh well.

Other: Medaka Box is really weird.

IC INFORMATION
Character's Name: Minako Arisato
Age: 17
Canon: Persona 3
Canon Point: July 31, 2009: post-trip to Yakushima Island, just before the trip to Inaba
Species: Human
Gender: Female
Orientation: For the purpose of the question, I'd say bi. Although she's straighter than not, she would have no objection on principle to being placed with a husband or a wife. She can be pretty much as intimate with girls as with guys (Mitsuru, run away with me!). In-game, she has options to have a few straight romances, one girl-robot basically-romance, some suggestive social links, and then whatever being a creepy shotacon counts as.

History: Megami Tensei wiki entry, and, for history, male protagonist, as their histories are the same.
Appearance: see here.
Personality: Minako's personality falls pretty neatly in two overall parts, which you might frame as the trivial and the serious: her outward sociability and her internal determination. Her outward personality is likable, level-headed, and gregarious, and it’s also "big," so to speak. She's so active, so externally focused, that the majority of her time is spent on things that are less about her than about spending time with and helping others. In comparison, we get only a few glimpses of how she feels or what she thinks, and they tend to be almost standard protagonist boilerplate. They generally demonstrate that she has a fierce drive that pushes her to succeed at the important task in front of her, and to do so as completely as possible, making sacrifices if necessary. But this isn’t quite enough of an explanation—what is it that makes her so determined? As the protagonist, Minako’s actions represent the main theme of Persona 3, that the world is worth appreciating; and in doing so (like many characters in this series) her 'truest personality' reflects her (final) Persona, Messiah.

On the outside, then, she's an archetypal popular high school girl, good-natured, good-looking, and cheery, without being grating or intimidating (for most people, anyway). People tend to feel comfortable around her, and vice versa, so she makes friends easily, among many different kinds of people--not only peers of all kinds, but also more outre figures like drunken monks, slightly crazed businessmen, and dying writers. Along with that, she's highly social, inquisitive, and empathetic, asking after others' problems and helping them out. She participates in many activities, from sports to student council, and she seems equally enthusiastic about them all. Most of all, she's effective at being a leader: at making suggestions, corralling opinions, working in teams, reaching out to people, and taking the initiative.

That side of her is simple enough. Some parts of it, though, demonstrate her pragmatism, too. She couldn’t be socially successful if she weren’t an adaptable creature. Indeed, her flexibility is one of her main assets (I imagine it would be one in multiple ways ). She can appear to be many things to many people, from that simple base of a friendly high school girl, and that’s how she gets them to open up and become close with her: by molding herself, to some extent, to what a person demands or needs. This flexibility is mirrored in her Persona powers by her Wild Card ability, which allows her to use multiple Personas, just as she uses multiple personas in real life. In some sense, it’s a weakness, too: it leaves her closer to others than they can be to her, if you will. It makes it seem that she has no single “her” Persona, unlike the others. She'll say what she thinks she should to keep or gain a friend, rather than being as honest as she can be--perhaps a normal trait, but one which she applies to a lot of people. She wants to have it all as much as possible, and sometimes that does tip over into situations that might hurt people: for example, she also doesn't think that there's a problem with having multiple relationships that are at least somewhat intimate or romantic in nature. In order to have achieved as much as she has--high test scores, all the friends, the world-saving thing--she has to think of her time as tightly rationed, and she "manages" her friendships accordingly.

All this is not to say she doesn’t care about them genuinely, but rather that there are practical reasons that she goes out of her way to make (genuine) friends. For Minako, close relationships are directly linked to her Persona power. Power, and the Persona power in particular, is not something she takes lightly. It’s just as Igor tells her: “you are destined to hone your unique ability.” Social links are a part of her overall power, and, partly because the power she possesses is important to the world, she feels obligated to develop and strengthen it. She would undoubtedly be friendly without this burden—but maybe she wouldn’t go quite as far as out of her way to meet different people as she does.

However, despite the surface openness and extroversion, Minako keeps her personal thoughts, decisions, and issues very much to herself. For example, when Ryoji offers the team a choice over whether to kill him or not (and thereby avert a seemingly hopeless fight), everyone else can voice their thoughts, but she keeps hers to herself. She's rarely seenbeing consoled by anyone else; she simply doesn't talk much about her own problems, not even to someone like Yukari, who's perhaps her best friend, nor to any of the love interests. (Yukari notices it, too: she feels embarrassed after complaining to Minako about her late father, since Minako's parents are dead, too--and Minako barely ever says a word about it, let alone a complaint.) This insularity is a bit of a clue that that gregarious outward personality finds its source partly in her internal determination—that is, the responsibility she accepted to cultivate her power and use it wisely also means she has to take burdens onto herself if necessary. Notably, it’s her responsibility, and she takes it on, albeit supported by her social links and other resources, in the end, by herself. It's a balancing act: on the one hand, the support that she needs to make it there, and on the other, the burden she ultimately bears herself.

Her other primary attributes stem from this determination, too: her willpower and courage in immediately accepting the job of fighting Shadows and joining SEES; her confidence in dealing with people of all types; her stubbornness (out-stubborning even the notoriously stubborn Shinjiro is no mean feat); her lack of embarrassment where other girls blush and stammer; and her ability to see things through to the end. This is not a girl who drops her diet after one week, and that can be both a strength and a weakness. Her being a fierce competitor can tip over into being a perfectionist. Her stubbornness can tip over into her taking on excessively difficult challenges, like not dissuading Yukari from going to a rough part of town for an investigation. She likes to win in life--not necessarily in a begrudging way, as she isn't jealous of someone like Mitsuru, who has a better position and is perhaps even more intelligent, but rather, in that she doesn't like to have to quit when an obstacle comes up.

Why, then, does she care so much and have so much determination? There are multiple reasons on the surface. Part of it is that she signed a contract which starkly outlines her responsibility and desire—“you, who wish to safeguard the future,”—but that's not all of it: it still holds through when she’s promised by Ryoji, who should know, that there is no future to protect. Part of it is the value she places on, and the support she gets from, the friendships (and more) that she makes over the time she spends at Gekkoukan, but that's not all of it either. After all, those friendships haven't been around all that long, and it's hard to imagine that it's the first time that someone like her had close friends; and even a Minako who doesn't maximize her social links can technically make it through the game. Part of it is that there seems like there's no other choice, but the game constantly emphasizes that (in-world, at least) she does have a choice. In fact, the game’s plot is all about humans who, despite or through their free will, are so apathetic and depressed that they secretly hope for the end of the world, and thereby bring it upon themselves.

That, I think, is the crucial point; the game makes an implicit comparison between these hopeless masses and Minako’s character, and a further, more explicit comparison with the Christian mythology. From the Messiah persona to the crucified imagery of her as the Great Seal, there’s a reason why people joke about “Persona Jesus”; those kinds of parallels between the protagonist and a Christ figure are no accident, so the comparison is, while unusual, appropriate. The Biblical quote goes that God so loved the world that he gave his only son so that others could have eternal life, and that’s the key: she loves the world, and she represents the exact opposite of the Apathy Syndrome. (They say strong love is sometimes close to strong hate, after all—but both are equally opposed to apathy.)

The game depicts this whole process as a difficult one, and not one that she undergoes without hesitating: there's a whole month dedicated to her deciding whether to give up the seemingly hopeless fight or struggle on. Of course consigning herself to the equivalent of death and struggle wouldn't be an easy thing to do, but, being who she is, she would never have taken another course. Her primary internal character trait, then, is that she loves the world, both externally (embracing all those people, sampling all those activities) and internally (through this sacrifice). Through her action, the Apathy Syndrome is lifted—people regain their hope, people can return to loving the world, too—and that's something which she finds worth the price.
Let’s not get too crazy, though: from her canon point, this hasn't happened yet. It's only in extremity that this part of her really appears, even though it lies under the surface of her actions. The vast majority of the time, Minako is just your ordinary happy-go-lucky, energetic, Persona-wielding badass high schooler.

Abilities: From her canon point, she's a pretty proficient fighter already (about level 28, to be precise), with a moderately powerful array of Personas and the like, and a fair hand with a naginata. She serves as the field leader of SEES, and thus has a good grasp of tactics, is quick on her feet, and is good at motivating people. She's also a good tennis player, cook, arcade game player, compulsive film-watcher, and eater.
Other: Nothing comes to mind.

Third Person: Minako usually woke up with a clear sense of purpose, and this was no different. She rose out of the sea of sleep all in one piece, with a clear sense of purpose--only there was nothing but an unbroken piece of blue infinity to meet the eye.

And so, unusually, a moment's hesitation seized her. Then, she calmly stood. She hadn't realized she was sitting. Without thinking, she already knew her own consciousness was too clear to be a dream. Everything was present: texture, taste, crispness of the air blowing around her, a cool and beautiful breeze. But something was different, subtly different, about every part of it. Something a little airier, more pleasant, sweeter in the smell of the environment. Different sounds of different birds chirping. It was like going to the Velvet Room, somehow: something supernatural, something a little eerie, or, more precisely, something that was from a different field of existence than her own, even though she was the same Minako, some kind of elliptical confluence of realities.

As she stood, sensations started flooding in: grass, something rough and metallic in her hand that wasn't an Evoker. She had been sleeping, hadn't she? But not in this chair. Nothing nearly close enough. She quietly took first one step, then another, as delicately as possible, not wanting to disturb anything. How could this have happened? She took an experimental deep breath. Fresh air flooded into her lungs. There was nothing realer than that feeling.

In a way, she was almost used to these bizarre displaced awakenings by now--it was just the sheer physical reality of it that was unusual. She'd had another visit from Pharos in a dream just last night, but he'd said nothing that would've led her to expect something like this to happen. Visitations of wandering spirits wasn't a surprise; that she was the wandering spirit was the surprise.

She looked around, unsure of whether a second or an hour had passed. There was a car and a house. She was holding a set of keys. If it were a challenge, or an adventure game, the right course of action was clear enough: walk up, be prepared for anything, and put aside doubt for the moment. After all, the moment was all she had to go on right now, and doubt wouldn't do nearly as much good as a bright smile.
