Species: Human (Attractor, but he emphasizes that they're still human)

History:

One thousand years ago, Quon and his clan were discriminated against and chased out due to possessing special powers, based on the individual (the first of ‘Attractors’, as they would later be called). They chose to live on their own, embracing their unique abilities and isolating themselves from those who would hurt them. Quon, however, wasn’t especially interested in any of that. As his powers hadn’t awakened yet, he preferred to play around and slack off, compared to his younger brother, Towa, who was kind and gentle—to the point where he would even help out someone from the town, despite them being the ones who hated Quon and co.’s kind.

Quon would come to regret this for years to come, however, when one day, as his clan was preparing for a festival, he left to do his own thing, uninterested in it all. Rather than returning to a happy and warm village, though, he came back to find his entire clan murdered out of prejudice. It was then that Quon’s powers awakened, and as is common for Attractors, he lost control of them, causing him to go berserk and slaughter all of the townspeople.

Afterwards, whether he would’ve chosen to continue living or simply end his life there was irrelevant—one of his newfound powers was immortality. The ancestor of one of his present friends found him and took him in, and from there, Quon eventually vowed to dedicate his life to protecting Attractors like him in order to make up for his failure and to atone for having killed.

Flash forward to one thousand years later. Quon leads a group of Attractors, who exist to shelter those like them—primarily children—and teach them how to control their abilities, as well as give them a new life. Heavy prejudice still exists against them, with an organization known as Custos existing to capture/kill them. Consequently, as one of the only fighters, much of Quon’s time is spent locating new Attractors when they awaken and saving them before Custos can get to them. On the side, he takes care of his garden, with the Attractors’ base being disguised as an establishment known as “Fantasium Garden”, built on the land of Quon's original home and open to the public.

For the most part, Quon’s life is fairly repetitive, following the above pattern. Things go awry, however, when one of their enemies—a cyborg known as Epsilon/Shun—turns out to be an Attractor. Deciding that he’s a friend even if he previously fought against them, Quon saves his life and takes him in, despite being aware of the risks. This proves to be the base’s undoing, as Custos hacks into Shun and has him reveal the location of the base and disable the barrier surrounding it. Although Quon’s friends manage to evacuate unharmed, Fantasium Garden is destroyed via missile—and Quon is killed.

Appearance: Ta-da.
Personality:

“I want to save them all. And that won't change in a thousand years.”

So, a lot of Quon’s personality can be summed up as “want to protect everyone”. Specifically, all the Attractors. It’s not really clear whether this policy applies to all humans, given that he wasn’t really initially aware that the cyborgs had genuine consciences and the Big Bad ends up being an Attractor himself, but seeing as how his friends end up saving all of Custos—their enemies—at the end, one can assume their actions reflect what Quon himself would do. Furthermore, Quon does end up rescuing every one of them.

But yes. Dear God, does the boy have a complex about protecting people. If you’re an Attractor, he will do everything he can to save you, even if you’re a serial killer, just tried to kill his friends, etc. And should he be unable to do so, he will blame himself for it and become noticeably disheartened. It’s why one of his friends derogatorily calls him "hero" and criticizes him for it—because he can’t save everyone. It gets to the point where he comes across as a bit self-centered and self-righteous, as he treats it like it’s specifically his burden (though granted, he’s essentially the sole fighter of the team, so it’s understandable that he kind of feels like it’s all up to him). While he has no problems with receiving help, he doesn't seem comfortable leaving it all up to someone else, even if they tell him that they've got it. He’s entirely aware that he’s got a complex about it, as evident when one team member tries to stop him, and Quon replies with this:

“You know. There’s no point in trying to stop me.”

Because there isn’t. He says it himself: he doesn't ever give up. As he’s been fighting for hundreds of years, Quon is an incredibly determined person. If there’s something he wants to do, then he’ll go all out to accomplish it. It does take a certain kind of will, after all, to dedicate yourself to the same ideal for presumably several lifetimes, almost entirely unwaveringly.

This all stems from his past, however. The Quon of one thousand years ago was nothing like how he is today, really. He was kind of brash. More importantly, he was a slacker who wasn’t really out to help others. From that point on, he seems to have molded his personality after his brother’s. He vowed to work as hard as he can and protect everyone to atone for having failed everyone before. At the very least, he would never repeat the mistake of his past ever again. He also decided to take upon the burden of having killed, due to his power incontinence, and dedicate his life to helping others learn to control their own abilities. His desire to protect everyone comes from severe survivor guilt on his part, as his inaction in the past may have costed him the lives of everyone he held dear.

He’s also extremely forgiving, as seen in his relationship with Epsilon/Shun. As his more cynical friends point out, Shun is an enemy. He’s captured and killed countless of their friends—so they shouldn't trust him with anything or have even saved him. Of course, Quon isn’t stupid—he’s well aware of that risk. However, as a murderer, he’s going to give a fellow murderer—and most importantly, one of their own kin—a chance. After all, as he states, if they're going to be judging people, then he himself should be the first to be judged. No matter how idealistic he's being, he says it straight to Shun, who himself points out how illogical it is—he’s choosing to trust him, even though he’s aware that Shun could easily then choose to betray that trust. Even when Shun ‘does’, Quon’s soft nature shows, as he refuses to seriously hurt Shun, knowing that he’s acting against his will.

As mentioned, Quon believes that if anyone should be criticized for being a murderer, then it should be him. Altogether, Quon doesn’t seem to hold a very high opinion of himself. While he doesn’t often go around outright deprecating himself, you would think that someone who’s saved countless lives would be a little more arrogant. Not Quon, though. It’s because of this that, when the others find out that he’s killed before and begin doubting him in spite of all that he’s done for them, Quon takes no offence—after all, he’s harder on himself than anyone else is on him. He tries to always be conscious of his burdens, never forgetting why he fights or why he cares so much for those around him, to the point where he certainly values their lives over his own. However, he never lets it get out of hand. In some ways, he sees himself as a monster, yes, but he also knows that no matter what, he’s still human.

That said, for a guy whose life revolves around helping others, Quon’s rather distant. While he's very polite and enjoys spending time with his friends, he’s more often than not seen alone. This likely stems partly from his immortality, as while it doesn’t stop him from making friends, it means that he knows that he’ll outlive them all (and as he’s had friends from the previous generations, presumably has done so many, many times). As well as that, he's not really out to socialize. He doesn’t mean to come across as cold—he’s just somewhat aloof because his life is so centered on his desire to protect everyone that it doesn’t always seem to occur to him to actually have a life.

His long life also shows up in other quirks of his. For starters, he can be a bit, well, weird, such as being kind of forward (striking up a conversation with strangers out of the blue, making comments that could easily be interpreted as flirtatious or creepy, suddenly holding people’s hands, etc.). One can assume that living for over a thousand years has not exactly done wonders for his social skills—that or he’s just learned to not care by this point, given his generally stoic nature. For that matter, he’s also very calm about most things (e.g. Yuri sticking her breasts in his face). While it’s not too difficult to fluster him once in a while, it’s not all that easy to get to someone who’s lived for a millennium either. He's also tsun-proof, much to one of his friends' misfortune.

What can cause him to lose his cool, however, are two things: one, his friends in danger, and two, Towa. He’s more prone to being emotional when his friends are being threatened, and God help you if you mess with Towa. While Quon never becomes seriously unhinged, he’s far more likely to lose his temper (because even he has one, yes) and fly into a rage. He’s even pushed to the point where he considers going against his ideals, as seen when he comes close to killing Kamishiro, the leader of Custos and a fellow Attractor, who essentially killed Towa—however, his selfless side wins over and he ultimately decides that his policy of saving all Attractors applies to him, even if he feels no sympathy towards him. His past as a whole seems to be a bit of a sore spot for him, with a friend even commenting on how, despite his age, he still hasn't quite managed to come to peace with it. Because of that and his hero complex, he's capable of being rather sorrowful and moody at times.

There are also implications that, for all of his emotional strength, he still has moments of insecurity. He doesn’t like to show them, as he’s far too concerned with others than to highlight his own issues, but for all of his age and maturity? Quon is, again, still human. Even he has (something of) a breaking point, where his weariness and desperation become clearer. He’s lived for over a thousand years, after all—as should go without saying, that’s a very long time to be alive, particularly when he’s generally either criticized for what he does or taken for granted. He never asks for recognition, of course, but even he, in his weakest moments, needs reassurance. For someone who hates failing, he, deep down inside, still wants to be told that at least he tried his best.

In short, he’s a pretty nice, if not aloof, guy with a bad case of Chronic Hero Syndrome.

Abilites:

Firstly, there’s his Insania form, which he can transform into. In this form, he has enhanced speed, strength, agility, and durability, as well some degree of energy manipulation—he’s seen using wings and blades made of energy. He also appears to possess some hydrokinesis and metal manipulation, though he doesn’t use those as often as regular physical combat.

As well as that, even outside of his Insania form, he also seems to have mild telepathic powers, in that he can detect other Attractors to some extent and, at one point, enters a telepathic link (albeit at great risk to himself).

His main ability is his regeneration, in that he can recover from any wound, including fatal ones and things such as removed limbs. The time it takes to heal seems to vary from wound to wound, and in some cases can be extremely painful, apparently. Because of this, while it’s possible to kill him, he won’t stay dead forever.

In a non-supernatural sense, it can be assumed that he’s still somewhat physically capable—he’s fast enough to dodge bullets at a distance and agile enough to go around on people's rooftops, at least.

And for something that has nothing to do with combat—he’s also a good gardener.

Other:

• 148 cm/4’10 tall (aka yes, he's a shorty)
• Blood type B
• Doesn't sleep much unless he's recovering—too busy patrolling otherwise
• Favourite food is instant noodles, stating that it’s “the kind of invention that only comes around every thousand years”

First Person: Thread(s) in a voice-testing comm & Dear Mun post!

Third Person:

One of Quon's first thoughts upon regaining consciousness was that it didn't hurt.

Healing could be excruciating—just as painful as gaining the wounds themselves sometimes. It was a worthy price to pay for, well, not dying, but immortality didn't go as smoothly as some might imagine. Consequently, to dimly recall losing his hand and being shot repeatedly (among other injuries) only to wake up as if he'd just fallen asleep—it was a rather disconcerting sensation. By all means, he should be crying out in pain right now.

Even ignoring his body's condition, however, it was far too peaceful. He remembered fighting. The details didn't occur to him immediately, but after a few moments, they became clear. Custos attacked, and—wait, how were Shun and Yuri holding up? They were in danger—and he needed to figure out where he was, now.

He had to protect them.

After sitting up, Quon glanced around the area, which only served to confuse him further. Either his friends had decided to develop a rather strange sense of humour and dump him on a lawn chair, rather than in a bed, or he definitely wasn't where he was supposed to be. All things considered, he shouldn't have expected to wake up in Fantasium Garden—not when they had to flee—but this was still unsettling. If anything, the utter normalcy of the scene made it that much more unnerving, particularly for someone who had been rather disconnected from the ordinary for several years.

The fact that he didn't see anyone he knew made the latter case more likely (that, or few had managed to survive, but that was a possibility he didn't want to consider). This really wasn't where he should be. That said, though, he still had no idea how he'd ended up here.

"Maybe death finally caught up to me..." he murmured, getting out of the chair. He didn't know if he could even die, bullet to the head or not, but he at least knew that sitting around wasn't going to get him anywhere.

There were people who needed him, after all.

IC INFORMATION
Characters Name: Vriska Serket
Age: Six sweeps, which equates to about 13 human years
Canon: Homestuck
Canon Point: After getting backstabbed by Terezi
Species: Troll
Gender: Female
Orientation: Bisexual by nature - most of her romantic interests (certainly for the two quadrants that aren't platonic) have been male thus far but her moirail (someone who, theoretically, keeps her more vicious tendencies in check) was female and her relationship with Terezi toes on black-romance at times, although Terezi isn't interested.

History: Vriska history. The link under "Canon" also gives a plot overview and links to the summaries of each of the Acts which covers the broader plots a little better.

Appearance: In her natural form, Vriska has the typical grey skin, yellow eyes and candy-corn coloured horns of her race. In her case, her horns are asymmetrical with the right one bent to an outward point and the left branching to curve up in a crescent shape. She has cerulean blood, which places her towards the bottom of the upper ranks of troll society and which is reflected in, amongst other things, the lipstick she wears (her lips are naturally black). Her left eye has seven pupils arranged in a cluster, and she has blue butterfly wings which she received after going God Tier.

On arriving to Holly Heights, she will lose the grey skin, horns and wings. She will therefore appear as a human with a mass of black, wavy hair, glasses and slightly-too-pointy incisors. She will arrive wearing her God Tier robes which are varying shades of orange with a sun symbol on the front of her shirt and a hood which somehow covers all that hair (and which has holes for the horns she will no longer have). Her eyes will look more human and minus the extra pupils in her left eye, and will be the same cerulean as her natural blood colour (which will now become human red).

Personality: Vriska likes to present herself as a master manipulator, the best of the best at everything she does and generally thinking herself better than everyone else. She is forever boasting about her skills and about all of the irons she has in fires, and overall likes to make out that she is a Big Deal. Because she apparently thinks so little of almost everyone else around her, she is not afraid to manipulate, backstab or outright walk all over someone to get what she wants.

Scratch the surface, however, and Vriska becomes a lot more complex. First, her claims of being a master manipulator are more than a little exaggerated. Though she seeks to emulate her ancestor, Mindfang, whose journal shaped much of Vriska's formative years, the truth is that Vriska doesn't have the subtlety or really the patience to truly master the art of manipulation. Instead she will bully, harass and insult others to try and provoke them into doing what she wants if she can't outright mind control them and her need for instant gratification means she often allows her frustration to get the better of her because things aren't going the way she wants them to. This trait, along with her overwhelming sense of pride, means she herself is ridiculously easy to manipulate.

It is this fact which mostly fuels her rivalry with Terezi, who can manipulate others without powers far more effectively than Vriska can even with her powers. This is something of which Vriska is incredibly jealous, largely down to her inherent insecurities - she knows, deep down, that she is not as big a deal as she likes to make out and this feeling only intensifies as the other trolls begin to shun her more and more. Of course, rather than try to better herself she channels her energies into more grand schemes and high-risk strategies, the biggest example of which being her role in creating the demon Bec Noir. She wanted to take the credit for his existence, hoping it would give her bragging rights, but she also did so because she then wanted to be the one to go out and defeat him.

On the one hand, this can be seen as another instance of Vriska being a glory hog, wanting all of the attention and praise and for people to acknowledge that she is the greatest, but it also stems from the aforementioned insecurities. She had hoped that if she could become the big hero, save the day and save everyone's lives, the other trolls would forgive her for her past actions and start to accept her again. Because Vriska has done some absolutely reprehensible things which even she knows are beyond what is acceptable, despite that her upbringing taught her that she was supposed to be that way. Although it should be noted that Vriska is, as a whole, terrible at taking responsibility for her actions and will blame anyone and anything else if it stops something from being her fault. This can and has gone to ridiculous extremes in the past, up to and including her attempt to bully Tavros into apologising for being crippled, even though she's the reason for him being crippled in the first place.

Much of Vriska's attitude and behaviour can be put down to the fact that she has never really stopped to think about who she wanted to be. She assumed that she was supposed to follow in Mindfang's footsteps, leading to further frustration when she couldn't quite match up and this is one of the primary causes of her abuse towards Tavros - she was forever trying to get him to live up to the Summoner of Mindfang's journal but pushed way too hard in the process. Likewise her mostly blase attitude towards murdering others stems both from necessity - she had to feed her lusus or else she herself would be eaten - and from troll society as a whole, which encouraged violence from the higher bloods. Thus, when she feels remorse for killing Tavros she doesn't know how to handle it or what makes him so different from the countless others she's killed or injured in the past - including Aradia, whose death she feels no remorse over causing.

Ultimately, Vriska talks a good game and she certainly has some skill but she allows her pride and her jealousy to cloud her judgement, which in turn only exasperates her feelings of inadequacy - which, in turn, feeds into the vicious cycle of her behaviour. She can be helpful when she wants to be - she did, after all, provide a lot of assistance to John and even helped him become God Tier - it's just that her methods are often questionable at best, downright cruel and brutal at worst and even at her nicest it would be a push to call her a good person.

Abilites:
Vision Eightfold Appears to serve as a form of x-ray vision and allows (or at least allowed) her to make use of Doc Scratch's magic cue ball, which was otherwise unreadable. This is the original purpose of her seven-pupiled eye.

Mind Control To a limited degree. She can fully dominate the residents of Prospit and Derse as well as the Consorts of each planet, all of whom exist only within the medium of SGRUB. Of the trolls, she can only manipulate Karkat, Sollux (half the time) and Tavros, although those she can manipulate she entirely dominates. When it comes to humans, however, she is only able to force them to sleep or to wake up - it turns out she is the cause of Jade's apparent narcolepsy.

Thief of Light Vriska is able to literally steal luck which means that in any situation which is luck-based, she can influence the results to work in her favour by stealing her opponent's luck. This appears to work through her seven-pupiled eye.

God Tier This is the reason she has wings and it also grants her conditional immortality - unless her death is just or heroic she will revive.

Dicekind Vriska's weapon of choice. Her main weapon in canon is the Fluorite Octet. This works by Vriska rolling all eight dice, the resultant combination of numbers correlating to the attack or power she is granted as per this page. Obviously, the full list of 8^8 possible combinations isn't available but we do see the names of some and even how some - for example Ancestral Awakening - work.

Other: Vriska types in cerulean and, as with all trolls, has her own typing quirk. In her case, this involves replacing the letter b and any "ate" sounds with the number 8, repeating vowels or punctuation marks 8 times and making 8-eyed smilies.

First Person: What the ever-loving FUCK is going on? First I get stabbed in the back by that bitch Pyrope. Now I wake up in this stupid lawnring where it's far too bright and all of a sudden I'm human? Is this some sort of sick joke? One last "fuck you, Vriska" from paradox space because I haven't had nearly enough of those?

Well listen up, whoever created this bullshit memory that I somehow landed in. I have all of the levels. All of them. Also all of the luck. So you want to start something, why don't you show yourself so I can finish you and get back to what I was actually supposed to be doing before blind justice investigates decided to stick her nose where it wasn't welcome.

Third Person: Vriska sat silently, staring at her hands. She had killed and maimed countless times before and yet, for some reason, this one seemed different to her. Her chest felt constricted, her own body siding against her for what she had done for no reason other than she could.

Well, that wasn't strictly true. He had sworn he was going to kill her, hadn't he? Had even been all set to charge at her, only she had been too quick for him. No, that wasn't right. He had been too slow for her. Just as he always had been. Just as he had always let her do what she wanted to him because he was too much of a coward and a loser to stand up to her. And this time, the cost had been his life.

Mindfang, too, was to blame for this. If she hadn't left behind that stupid journal, detailing her life of adventure and plundering, Vriska would never have thought to pursue Tavros at all. Were it not for the tales of the Summoner, the one to whom Tavros was supposedly related, he would have been nothing but an orange-blooded corpse fed to her lusus. But, just as she had tried to emulate Mindfang's kismesissitude with Dualscar only to find Eridan a let-down, so too was Tavros to dash her hopes.

And yet, for all she tried to assure herself that she was fine, that she'd done what she was entitled to as a blue blood and as a troll, the knot in her chest wouldn't go away. Tavros wasn't some faceless lusus-fodder; they had progressed through the game together and even if he had left her to die more brutally than she would have liked, he had still seen to it that she acquired the powers she had now. That had to count for something, didn't it?

Her ears pricked up as the sound of a commotion made its way towards her and she pulled herself to her feet. There was no time for dwelling now. Something was going on and she was obliged to see what that something was.

IC INFORMATION
Characters Name: Wocky Kitaki
Age: 19
Canon: Apollo Justice
Canon Point: Post AJ-case 2.
Species: Human
Gender: Male
Orientation: Heterosexual. He has a canonical female love-interest in game, and seems to ever only show interest in the opposite gender.

History: There is a brief description here! He only shows up in one case, so there's not really a lot.
Appearance: what a gangsta.
Personality: If you needed to summarize Wocky in one word? It'd probably be "interesting".

Really, there's no other way to put it. You don't even need more than a single glance to realize that; take a look at his hairstyle, his clothes--not to mention the first word out of his mouth is probably a screamed out "Biiiizoyyyyy!". In this case, odds are the first impression isn't wrong.

Wocky is the type of person who takes his background and title very seriously. A member of the Kitaki family of gangsters, Wocky is known as the member who takes pride in being the core definition of one. It's his philosophy to take fights as they come, protect the ladies, and be the baddest dude possible. Does this mean he's a tad bit reckless, a bit too open with his opinions, and almost annoyingly confrontational? You bet! Wocky's almost like an excited little kid when it comes to playing into the ideals he wants to play into. It takes a whole lot to talk him down from something once he sets his mind to it, and once he's deeply engrained himself into a belief or person, he'll set himself aside completely for them. This devotion to what he believes in is both admirable and blind. He truly dedicates himself completely to whatever he decides to.

This sort of loyalty ties in to the lesser seen side of his personality. While he's a person who concentrates his efforts on appearing as a tough untouchable gangster, there's a softness and kindness underneath the rough exterior that many people close to him say is easy to miss in the calls of fight fight fight. Really, he's a guy who cares about the people he wants to care about--you see it with Alita, who he protects under his "gangster code". He won't stand for injustice and tends to only act aggressively when something is in the way of his beliefs as a bad dude. Women? Won't get his fists. Children? Also safe. He's got a good heart underneath his questionable style, and is actually quite a charming individual once you get past the slang and threats.

Of course, good person doesn't mean smart person, and it's pretty clear that Wocky's not exactly a clever fox. He often gets terms mixed up ( "quacker" and "quack" ), and seems to think that running straight into an ambush is a smart move. He doesn't seem to catch on when someone's deceiving him, and well... when that someone is someone close, he'll almost stubbornly deny all truths, even if it's all piled up in front of him. He's a very naive sort of person, as easy as it is for him to talk about busting caps. This kind of... well, stupidity, almost, makes him seem pretty fearless. And he is, sort of! I mean, he has no problem running headfirst into situations without so much as a second thought, only because that's what he feels bad gangsters should do.

That's not to say that he's incapable of change. His aforementioned good-nature means that, when things do go through his head, he's not going to... deny when something is a better option, or when something is "more right" than what he's doing. Although he doesn't abandon the gangster life at the end of his case, he does go into a life with less killing and more baking, as the Kitakis move from Gangster Gun Fights to Gangster Bakery. While he initially rejected the pleas and ideas of his father, Wocky later seems to see what exactly is better, and adapts accordingly. His run-in with the law and the betrayal of someone he loved dearly kind of... opens his eyes a bit. So he is completely capable of change! It's just hard to get him to that point, sometimes.

Abilites: NONE. Just a regular human in a game about lawyers.
Other: He uses so much slang i'm sorry.

First Person: There's an old post here but I can provide a sample if you'd like something more!

Third Person:

For Wocky, the hardest part to get used to in this big, old place was not the fact he had been kidnapped. No, that part was actually quite simple ( in fact, he didn't even often think about it. can you call that prioritizing? ), and not even close to the biggest concern. For Wocky, the hardest part to get used to in this big, old place was the fact that he, somehow, had gotten married without his knowledge.

Dizzam was really the bare bones summary of his thoughts, accompanied only by pacing around the living room and a finished flop on the couch. Dizzam. He was all for spontaneity and shotgun weddings in the name of love, but Landlord? Was treading on some dangerous grounds in that department. It was whack, really--shacking up with someone he hardly knew, with kids that he didn't even remember having.

That was really whack.

"That L-man's got some serious guts, getting me hitched out of nowhere! Only one fallen angel's got this G--"

He cut off there. Right, that little engagement was no longer a thing, it seemed. But it still seemed a little bit rushed, a little bit-- ugh. If he was placed in this kind of position, what would the best course of action be? He had a responsibility here, right? A real man would face this kind of commitment head on, without running away.

At first he thought about maybe getting a lawyer ( those Gs seemed to solve a bunch of things, it seemed ), but now he thought better.

Yeah, he was going to be a damn good old man. He was going to be the best damn old man this place had ever seen. He had been placed in this position, and a real man would face it head on!

Talk about prioritizing.

IC INFORMATION
Character's Name: Yoko Ogawa ('Ogachin')
Age: Unknown, but presumably older than 25
Canon: Prism
Canon Point: End of Chapter 6
Species: Human
Gender: Female
Orientation: Bi

History: The alcoholic, free-spirited, terrifyingly liberal homeroom teacher for the main cast of Prism.

Not a lot of precise details of Ogawa's history are known, but what we do know is that she has travelled the world a fair bit; she mentions moving into a dorm in London because of her family situation (whatever that was; we never hear that part) and she travels to Belgium for a short while during Chapter 6. Whilst she was living in England (presumably as an international student), she went out with a girl her age in the dorm; they were open about their relationship and it went well. Evidently she moved back to Japan at some point, again we don't know why; Ogawa looks back on it fondly, but it's evident she's put it behind her and moved on ('moved on' meaning moaning about wanting to fall in love again whilst drunk and advising Megumi; she's that sort of person), and presumably passed her teaching assessments somewhere along the line. She currently lives in a flat on Ibiza island (a small island near Japan, not actual Ibiza).

That Ogawa is a foreign languages teacher is an assumption on my part, but makes sense in the context of her travelling; we know she's been to England and Belgium at a minimum.

Within Prism itself, Ogawa acts as a combination of mentor / mostly-responsible-adult to the main pairing, giving advice and support when asked for... and comic relief, since this is Ogachin we're talking about.

Appearance: The manga is black and white, which obviously makes some details hard to call, but Ogawa is a fairly tall, adult woman likely in her late 20s / early 30s with medium length probably-brunette hair and a fondness for turtlenecks, trousers and booze.

Personality: As noted earlier, Ogawa is very much a free-spirit; she encourages people to make their own decisions and do what they feel will make them happy rather than holding themselves back. She is also - surprisingly - a responsible adult; she helps defuse the situation when Hikaru and Megumi are accosted by homophobes, she advises the both of them when they ask for it; helping Megumi come out to her friend and giving relationship advice to Hikaru. Despite being... well, herself, she serves an 'older and wiser' role serving more like an embarrassing but reliable older sister to the two than anything else; she'll help you, then embarrass you forever for it as long as she lives.

She's a lot more serious when she's actually working during teaching hours possibly because she's sober though I suspect this is mostly her taking the teaching part seriously as much as anything else (most of the times we see her are when she's drunk outside of class), though she seems to be quite friendly with the other students (her class call her 'Ogachin'; whilst she tells them not to she still signs off with that when leaving a note in Chapter 6). She is... very liberal, as noted before; she drinks freely when she can, travels the world, helps her students hook up (when asked to) and teases them for it... generally she tends to work hard, play hard. There are very few quiet moments around Ogawa.

Though Ogawa does get involved in Megumi and Hikaru's lives, she is still very hands off; she encourages them to make their own decisions and gives them advice but only actively intervenes when asked to (admittedly Megumi is not aware of that last part) or if they're actually in danger (the aforementioned accosting incident). She's generally a laid-back, carefree, probably a tad lonely goofy big sis figure.

Abilites: None; ordinary human.

Other: Why do so many of my characters have alcohol problems...

Okay, so waking up with a hangover in some random place wasn't that strange - confusing, yes, a little disturbing, true, something that hadn't happened in a while definitely since her student days but at least it wasn't the first time so she generally had an idea of how to go about piecing together what happened where and how to get back in time for class that morning. Waking up in a foreign country though... yeah, that was something new.

And with a shiny new lease agreement.
And with a shiny new car.
And with a shiny new marriage certificate.

Definitely definitely new. Stumbling along the way to contact the wider community through her cell-phone, Yoko tries to fumble a way out of this one.

"S-So um... does anyone know what I had to drink last night?"

Characters Name: Helen Magnus
Age: 274
Canon: Sanctuary
Canon Point: 409 Chimera
Species: Human (abnormal)
Gender: Female
Orientation: Helen had had relationships with both men and women

History: helen @ wikia | my written history
1850 August 27: Helen was born to Gregory Magnus & Patricia Heathering
1866 Helen questioned her father as to why Board members of the Royal College were afraid of him
1880's Helen attended Oxford and learned medicine, although she was denied from receiving her degree despite her high marks. Helen later met James Watson, John Druitt, Nikola Tesla and Nigel Griffin and formed a group known as 'The Five'. Helen persuaded her father to show her his greatest work, taking her first steps into the abnormal world. After obtaining a pure sample of the blood of ancient vampires, The Five began working with it to create a serum - the one which gave them their abnormalities
1888 Jack the Ripper began terrorizing London. Helen tried to stop him to help him and failed. Her engagement to John was broken off and with the help of James and Nikola 'paused' her pregnancy by freezing the embryo
1898 Helen & James' help was sought by Adam Worth in the hopes of saving his daughter Imogene from death. Due to the nature of her condition there was little that Helen could do and subsequently both her and James were blamed for Imogene's death. The (UK) Sanctuary also gained its first permanent resident
1900's Following Imogene's death Helen and the other members of The Five were sought out by the King for their 'talents' (although rather as freelance assassins than their actual abilities) in the hopes of stopping Adam Worth
1909 Helen's father travelled to Bolivia in search of a feathered serpent (Quetzalcoatl)
1912 Helen was aboard the Titanic and was saved by Emily Brown
1917 Helen went to Egypt with Nikola in search of the tomb of Tutankhamen where they spent five years searching for it before Howard Carter discovered it
1932 Helen recruited Barney to the Sanctuary Network
1943 January 7: Helen faked Nikola's death, January 18: Helen was in Poland when the Nazi's entered the Warsaw Ghetto and watched as they raised it to the ground
1944 June 5: Helen, James and Nigel travelled to France (Carentan) as part of a resistance group, aiming to stop a plan that was being put into place by the Nazi's
1945 May 7: Helen was present in Reim when the Nazi's surrendered
1950's Helen treated a Bigfoot after he'd been shot, giving him a place on her staff after he refused to leave
1985 Helen rescued Will Zimmerman from an abnormal which killed his mother
1986 December 8: Gave birth to her daughter, Ashley
1990's Helen 'adopts' Henry and brings him to the Sanctuary, keeping him under her care
1998 The north tower of the Sanctuary underwent renovations
2008 Helen recruited Will Zimmerman to the Sanctuary. The team also run into trouble as they catch the attention of the Cabal, a centuries old organisation whom also holds an interest in abnormals - but not for the same goals. Despite keeping tabs on the Cabal they manage to set off a deadly virus that turns abnormals into vicious killers, something that needs more than just Helen's help
2009 After defending abnormals from an attack by the Cabal The Five meet, travelling to Bhalasaam in order to retrieve the Source Blood in order to devise a cure. Following this Helen's daughter Ashley is taken by the Cabal, using the stolen Source Blood to turn her into a weapon. Helen defends the Sanctuary Network against the Cabal and with no choice left Ashley sacrifices herself in order to save both her mother and the Sanctuary. Helen at first struggles to grieve for Ashley, refusing to let her go. When Ashley's birthday comes round she struggles with it again, unable to ask for the help and comfort that she needs
2010 Months later saw the world nearly destroyed after an abnormal known as Big Bertha was discovered and was used to create tidal waves. Although originally stopped in her efforts Helen, along with Will, managed to calm Big Bertha, getting her to rest again. After communicating with the spirits Will received a message from Helen's father, one that opened up a whole new world - and brought back a former enemy - to them all
2011 After travelling to Hollow Earth Helen attempted to keep relationships open, although they were yet unable to trust 'surface dwellers'. After believing Adam Worth dead Helen continued regular Sanctuary operations, although when problems arose - particularly with temporal fields - it was discovered that Adam was in fact not dead. After learning of his plan and being unable to stop him Helen followed him through a portal that he'd created, travelling back to 1898

1898 After following Adam Worth to London Helen had to try and prevent him from curing his daughter, Imogene, from her illness to prevent any alterations to the timeline. After doing so, and realising that she was unable to return home, Helen travelled to Napal under the name of Helen Bancroft
1916 Helen travelled to New York to meet up with Nikola Tesla, securing a position at Lahore University
1921 Helen attented a private symposium in London hosted by Viscount in honour of Albert Einstein
1948 Helen worked with Fuller at Black Mountain University, North Carolina
1956 In Peru Helen was on the Board of Directors in the Great South American Mining Corporation
1964 Helen opened a provisions store in Cooper Pedy, Australia
2011 Helen returned to Old City, making her way back to the Sanctuary in order to tend to the problem that had arisen from the Hollow Earth abnormals after the original Helen had left for London. Putting her plan into motion, Helen cut of ties and funding with the world's governments, taking the Sanctuary Network 'rogue'. This ran into troubles after the government retaliated by creating SCUI - a government division that aimed to capture and 'study' abnormals, although not in a way that Helen liked. By working against them, by freeing abnormals and stopping them where possible, along with trying to help the Hollow Earth abnormals to set up their own living arrangements Helen ran into trouble. Although it would seem unexpected Helen knew that the possibility for it was there. When there appeared to be no way to go, with conflicts on both the human and abnormal sides Helen put her end game plan into motion; the final culmination of her plan involved the destruction of the Old City Sanctuary, with all residents from the Sanctuary Network and those under her protection from Hollow Earth returning to a new Hollow Earth
Appearance:
Helen is played by Amanda Tapping | icons. Helen stands at 5'9" (in flat foot) and 5'12" or 6' in heels. Her hair reaches just past her shoulders and is dark brown (dyed) in colour which she wears down, either straight, slightly waved or in curled waves, or with part of it clipped back. Helen also has blue eyes. Although Helen was born in the Victorian Era (1850), she dresses appropriately for the current day due to living through the years. Helen's dress is moderately conservative, often featuring suit jackets, long sleeved tops or shirts with skirts/pants or occasionally dresses. Helen's footwear consists mostly of heels, though often she will wear boots. She also have various long coats and jackets depending on the need of her mission. Although Helen is 274 she hasn't visably aged since she was 36 when the experimentation with the blood of the Sanguine Vampiris began and Helen received her abnormality of longevity. When conducting an autopsy or other medical work, Helen will wear a traditional lab coat fitting of being a doctor.
Personality:
One of the first things to know and remember about Helen is that she is first and foremost a Victorian woman. While she may not hold high many of the standards expected of a woman from that time it doesn't change her upbringing and overall demeanour, and whilst she has adapted to integrate herself with the changing times she is still the same woman at heart. She is a particularly private person, a mix from her need for privacy in her work, her experiences but also due to her upbringing. Helen doesn't talk freely about her feelings and will take care of others before herself. If Helen does talk about herself or her past it is usually in brief detail and the conversation is rapidly cut short if it takes a turn into matters that she is unwilling to discuss. Even those that Helen considers herself friends with know very little about her life, barring her long-standing friends.

Etiquette is something that Helen holds to the highest regard and will let you know should something that you do or say cross her boundaries into disrespect or bad etiquette. A testament to this was in an alternate timeframe when, even though the world was ending, Helen requested that the young girl that she was with told her her name – stating that ❝ proper etiquette would be to offer your name in return ❞. Helen also has a lot of pride for herself and her work and does not take kindly to anyone demeaning that or her authority. She's an intelligent woman and very loyal - if she cares about you or you're a friend she will protect you and will do so regardless of any other influences. Helen employs a strong "do no harm" ethic due to her status as a medical doctor and her wish to protect any abnormal and person. She is unwilling to harm or even kill any individual without a spectacularly good reason, often placing her own life in danger above that of whom she would rather save, an example of this being John Druitt whom she has tried to save for over a century despite his actions towards herself and others.

In her work Helen employs some strict sensibilities which aide in protecting both her work and her patients. While she may not relax often, and only takes a weekend long break every seven years, Helen does know how to relax and enjoy herself. She knows how to make light of a situation and has a distinctive sense of humour, though it's only seen when the time is appropriate. As well as being protective over people’s lives she is also protective over their beliefs or interests. Helen has long understood the personal dangers of the job, the lack of being able to communicate it to others ( ❝ dinner parties are hell ❞ ) and allows her staff the relaxation and personal time that they so need. Her protective nature is also very compassionate and though it may be hard for Helen to relate to others she does truly try.

Helen is a strong woman both physically and mentally. It takes a lot for Helen to lose control over herself in a situation or to act rashly or without calm. One thing, or rather person, which does alter this is Helen's daughter Ashley. Whenever Ashley is in danger, or even when she was kidnapped by the Cabal, Helen fought for her and even placed her work in danger to rescue her daughter. Another individual who causes Helen to lose clarity in situations is John Druitt. Despite his actions Helen was unable to fully sever her feelings for him or truly hate him due to their past, instead burying them deep. Whilst Helen may have feared John when he first came back into her life, his actions and events that unfolded have shown that he will not hurt her or the Sanctuary. While she may not fully be able to trust him, Helen is able to place enough trust in him to allow him to help. Her own actions of wishing to help him shows that she does still care for him also, whether or not she will admit it.

Helen is an incredibly proud woman, something that she has been ever since she was a young girl. One thing that Helen prides herself on most is her knowledge and skills, as along with day to day life she requires them for her work. She is also proud of them because they are statements of what she has accomplished in life and her dedication to what she does. Helen is dedicated not only to her work but also to those that are involved in it. It is her job to protect not only her patients but those that she works with.

Helen is also incredibly stubborn and has admitted that she is incredibly used to gtting her own way, and it has been mentioned that there hasn't been a compromise that she hasn't just steamrollered through. By having worked independently for so long (despite the government funding) Helen has been able to act for herself and built up the Sanctuary Network through her determination. An example of this is when Helen first studied to become a doctor. Despite having the knowledge, skill and becoming licensed the Royal College refused to allow Helen to practise medicine, although that did not cease Helen nor her quest to become a practising doctor. Helen requested that her father share his work with her and began to help him research, later legally practising medicine after further laws changed and she was permitted to do so.

Although Helen doesn't regret her actions that brought about her longevity there are many things in her life and many actions that she has taken that she does regret. She has commented that in her life she has taken many risks, but after having to 'watch' her life for 113 years (after travelling back in time), this has allowed her to see that not all of the decisions that she has made were the best choices ( ❝ watching everything unfold again, for better or worse. Watching every mistake I made play out again. I had to let terrible things happen, Will, and do nothing to change them ❞ ).

Due to Helen's extended life she has seen the world change many times and knows that she will again. Though she keeps herself apprised of global affairs, mainly to protect the abnormal community, Helen herself is less involved with them than she was in past years. Political affairs also hold less of an interest to Helen and, unless she is specifically asked, she will keep away from them. When Helen is not researching abnormals she makes time to present lectures on varying abnormal theories, though she has been told that her lectures are rather boring.

IC INFORMATION
Characters Name: Katniss Everdeen
Age: 17
Canon: The Hunger Games
Canon Point: Catching Fire, end of Chapter 12, just after the announcement of the Quarter Quell
Species: Human
Gender: Female
Orientation: For all intents and purposes, Katniss is heterosexual. Though not demonstrating much of an interest in such things for most of her life due to a focus on other priorities (like providing for her family and staying alive), the “star-crossed lovers” charade with Peeta in the arena begins to awaken some very real feelings, which only become more prevalent and confused as the series progresses.

History: Here!

Appearance: For a girl her age, Katniss is small and thin; in fact, she was one of the smallest tributes during the 74th Hunger Games. She has dark hair (usually held back in a braid), olive skin, and gray eyes. She will be played by Jennifer Lawrence, the same actress who portrayed her in the recent film adaptation.

Personality:
“Katniss is the mockingjay. She is the thing that should never have been created, that the Capitol never intended to happen. In the same way they just let the jabberjays go and thought, ‘We don’t have to worry about them,’ they thought, ‘We don’t have to worry about District 12.’ And this new creature evolved, which is the mockingjay, which is Katniss.”
-Author Suzanne Collins, “The Last Battle: With ‘Mockingjay’ on its way, Suzanne Collins weighs in on Katniss and the Capitol” (Interview located here)

Like that titular and symbolic mockingjay, the new species of bird created when the genetically-engineered, Capitol-sponsored “jabberjays” began to mate with female mockingbirds in the wild, Katniss Everdeen is the product of a host of unforeseen circumstances. In the dark, dystopic future of Panem, a nation of oppression, where the majority suffer on the whims and excesses of the few, where children are forced to their deaths annually for the sole purpose of spectacle, that brazen uniqueness about her, that distinct spirit that just can’t be taken away, is something that truly stands out. And ultimately, the feisty “Girl on Fire” goes on to inspire a revolution.

Katniss hails from District 12, the smallest and poorest of Panem’s districts, and in particular from the Seam, the poorest area of the district. Up until volunteering as tribute for the 74th Hunger Games and then being whisked away to the Capitol, poverty has been the only reality that she has known, and thus survival, the drive to do whatever it takes to survive, is practically hardwired into her DNA. To only add to this, the Everdeen family has had to overcome great personal tragedy. When Katniss was just eleven years old, her father, a coal miner, died in an accident in the mines. After his death, her mother fell into a depression so severe that she was unable to care for Katniss and her younger sister, Prim. Thus, Katniss was forced to step into the role of the main provider for the family, taking on a huge number of responsibilities at a young age and thus being forced to grow up very quickly.

Because of these early life experiences, Katniss had to become independent and self-reliant. With a deceased father and a virtually absent mother, there was no one to care for her or to guide her gently through the world. Using skills and knowledge taught to her by her father before he died, such as archery and identification of edible plants, Katniss began to turn to the woods as a way to provide for her family, eventually teaming up and becoming hunting partners with Gale Hawthorne (who would later become her best friend). While hunting and trading hunted game on the black market is technically illegal in District 12, law enforcement tends to be lax, and the enforcers (or “Peacekeepers”) tend to interact with the general population than what may be seen in other districts. Thus, Katniss is able to continue to go into the woods, not only using it as a means of providing food, but also as a place of solace. According to Gale, Katniss never smiles except when she’s in the woods.

While being as self-reliant as she is, Katniss also possesses a strong instinct to protect her loved ones, or those she sees as needing her protection. This is, of course, most evident in the case of her younger sister, Prim. Katniss loves Prim more than anyone else in the world, and would literally do anything for her, including make the ultimate sacrifice; when Prim’s name was called at the reaping for the 74th Hunger Games, Katniss volunteered to take her place almost immediately. This is an instinct that carries her through many aspects of her life. For instance, during the Hunger Games, Katniss begins to feel protective over Rue, the 12-year-old tribute from District 11. Rue very strongly reminded Katniss of Prim, and thus the instinct carried over naturally. As time goes on, however, others begin to enter the fray of people Katniss fights tooth and nail to protect. In particular, Katniss has a strong desire to keep Peeta Mellark, her fellow tribute from District 12, alive, a desire that only becomes stronger as their lives become progressively more intertwined.

Because of her experiences, and her strong determination to both survive and provide for her loved ones, Katniss has allowed herself to become hardened and closed-off, pushing her own base emotions off to the side. They simply do not serve a purpose in her world. And besides, who knows who could be seeing your weakness and using it against you later? In her view, it’s best to keep that collected head that is useful on the hunt, and she has quite a talent for staying logical in a variety of situations. But such a modus operandi may come with a price.

By being so narrowly focused on her own life goals, and not being very well tuned-in to her emotional side(outside of her love for her family, of course), Katniss does not readily pick up on social and emotional cues from others. For instance, Gale has been her best friend for five years, and not once did she even entertain the possibility that he had romantic feelings for her, until he kissed her that one day after she returned from the 74th Hunger Games. (For most of her life, romance hasn’t been something to register on her radar; multiple times over the years, she has stated that she does not want marriage or children, due to the possibility that those children might be forced into the Hunger Games themselves.) She goes along with the “star-crossed lovers” charade with Peeta in the arena, not realizing until after the Games are over that it might not have been so much of a charade for him. This doesn’t just apply to the romance department; it took years for Katniss to come to the realization that Madge, the Mayor’s daughter, was actually her friend.

Limits to Katniss’s knowledge can also be seen in the realm of politics. Having grown up in the poorest part of District 12, and most likely not having had access to better education, her worldview is understandably narrow. For instance, on the night before the 74th Hunger Games, Katniss does not quite understand what Peeta means when he states that he still wants to die as himself, rather than allow the Capitol to simply use him as a piece in their games, and becomes angry with him after this conversation. However, as the trilogy progresses, her political awareness becomes more sophisticated, and there comes a point when she begins to understand what had been unconsciously inside of her all along: that she resents being someone else’s pawn, that she wants more than anything to defy those who are trying to make her their pawn and break free of their control. Upon the end of each book in the trilogy, whether she realizes it or not, by what appear to be small, simple acts, Katniss always manages to find the third option, the one unforeseen by those in power, the ones that want to target her.

At the end of the day, Katniss is still very much a teenage girl (at her canon pull point, she is seventeen years old), and one that has been thrust into horrific circumstances and had nightmarish experiences to boot. As canon progresses, she grows increasingly frustrated by her situation, and can be prone to lash out at kindness offered to her with hostility. Careful emotional control will invariably spiral away from her in moments of extreme distress, giving way to the other, more destructive side of the “fire” in her personality. She can be rash and impulsive, and demonstrate one hell of a temper during these states, as evidenced by a number of canon events. For instance, in Catching Fire, upon learning that she will have to return to the arena for the second time, Katniss runs off aimlessly, puts her hand through a glass window, and gets drunk as a skunk for the first time in her life. Upon being told by Haymitch, her mentor, that Peeta has been picked up by the Capitol, in her rage, she proceeds to scratch at Haymitch’s face with all of the strength she can muster.

Abilites:
Katniss is a normal human from a non-fantastical world (just a grim dystopia), and therefore has no supernatural abilities. She does, however, have a number of skills and a whole host of knowledge that enable her to survive horrible and extreme circumstances. Thanks to careful teachings from her father during her childhood, Katniss has exceptional skill with a bow and arrow, even to the extent that she’s able to shoot squirrels in the eye and an apple out of a dead pig’s mouth in front of the Gamemakers, and a good working knowledge of edible and poisonous plants. From hunting with her friend Gale, she has learned a great deal about traps and snares, and thus is more than capable of surviving and obtaining food even in the absence of her weapon of choice. Her nuanced skills in tree-climbing have also saved her life on more than one occasion, and, in general, she has a good head on her shoulders regarding what it takes to make it through hardship. And finally, though she may be reluctant to show it, especially after her father’s death, Katniss also has an exceptional singing voice that the mockingjays will stop to listen to (which is a sign of respect).

First Person: Old thread from Paradisa here

Third Person:
She’s walked this path a million times. It’s as natural to her as breathing. Every curve, every dip she can navigate without thinking.

In fact, as her feet tread those familiar steps, quiet and catlike, for once, she has no thoughts at all. She’s been granted a temporary reprieve from the images that continually haunt her nightmares and sometimes lurk just at the edge of consciousness during her waking hours. The sight of her own burning flesh. The full effects of tracker jacker venom she’d been able to narrowly escape. Those mutts ripping Cato to shreds, that had once stared up at her with very human eyes, one pair of which had previously been accompanied by the dying smile of a trusted ally…--

… No. Right now, she’s only focused on one thing. The destination before her.

With one quick, futile check for the hum of electricity, with one unceremonious slip under the fence, she’s back where she belongs. In the woods. In the one place where she’s free. She allows herself one moment’s pause, taking in her surroundings and inhaling deeply, letting that lungful of air rush through her bloodstream and detox every cell in her body of Capitol contamination.

Of course, she knows the moment will only be brief at best. The prospect of the Victory Tour is a dark cloud already hanging over her head, and she knows she can’t escape forever. Something in her, buried deep down, that she’s avoiding like the plague, knows that her life has been irrevocably changed. She’s a victor now, and when you’re a victor, there’s no going back.

But in this one brief moment, as her hand clutches her bow, as her senses calm and steady for the hunt, for the first time since stepping off the train and back into District 12, she feels like she’s home.

She’ll cling to that feeling for as long as she can.

Gender: Male.
Orientation:  Elijah won't be comfortable with a wife for the reason that since his early childhood he has been troubled and, quite frankly, traumatized by most females (Crazy murderous aunts, and a relationship gone wrong). He won't be comfortable with a husband either due to the fact that he disdains people in general, and his firm belief that they just as well disdain him. Elijah may as well be currently asexual, as he doesn't seem to be interested in pursuing relationships in the slightest. The only person he is ever comfortable around is Meredith.

History: Since there is no wiki for it yet, here’s the comic source! The setting of our story is 1920’s Melbourne, Australia. Yes, you got your flappers, your crooks, your “rotten bastards” and a handful of charismatic characters. The city is currently under a tense stand-still due to an array of five unforeseen bombings within the chain of government buildings. The suspected arsonist is a mysterious, unknown woman named only Violet- and the government has set up a specific team of specialists to bring her to justice. The story closely revolves around these events and the links between them and the characters that are introduced into each setting, one by one. Let’s rewind a bit, back to the place of Elijah Elkwood’s childhood...

As of yet, not much is known of Elijah’s birthplace, although it can be safely assumed he was born where he was raised; that being Perth, Australia. Elijah, as well as his family, are all Australian Aborigine. He lived with his Mother, his little sister: Petunia, and his adopted brother, Meredith. Elijah’s childhood, from what we can tell in flashbacks and side stories, is abundant in pleasant, happy memories and fond stories of sibling affection. Elijah’s sister, Petunia, recalls these memories as images of her previous life in Perth, surrounded by the protection and comfort of her brothers. In the comic she tells of Elijah’s courage and bravery when they were children, and of his intelligence and ability to prove himself as a encouraging older brother. He “stood up against things he thought were wrong.”, and according to Petunia: “Nothing could stop him.” Elijah, smart and confident, was said to be a quick thinker and a great conversationalist.

The artist Nozmo once briefly summarized Elijah in his early teens (15 years old), as a bookworm who always knew what to say or do in a sticky situation. He gave great advice and was always up for a all or nothing deal. Elijah’s old love of reading is definitely brought into light in the present setting of the story- namely, his clever use of words and phrasing. Years past, and Elijah and Meredith mature into adulthood. For reasons that are still unknown to us, he and Meredith set off to Melbourne, perhaps to start off in their careers in the booming world of politics. I will be taking Elijah from when he meets up again with Meredith in Parliament. (Ch. 9)

Appearance: ONE & TWO.  Elijah carries the dark complexion of the aboriginals of western Australia. His skin is fairly clear, and he has no visible markings as of yet. His hair is short, and everywhere! Well, sort of. It's just wavy, and tends to stick out in ends from all sides- that is if he hasn't pulled a comb through it (and even then one little strand always manages to stick up.) His hair is a unique shade of naturally light purple- his sister Petunia also shares a bright hair color like him. His eyes are a light blue color.

IC INFORMATION
Characters Name: Momoko Touyoko
Age: not specifically stated, but I'd put her at 16 (she's a high school first year)
Canon: Saki
Canon Point: The national tournament arc, after her team's arrival in Tokyo to cheer on Saki's team
Species: human
Gender: female, physically and mentally
Orientation: lesbian; this is not explicitly stated, but strongly implied in her relationship with Yumi Kajiki, one of her teammates. Momoko clings to Yumi a lot (which leads to Yumi telling her "not here" when she does it in public at one point), and gets jealous of Yumi's budding friendship with another girl to the point where Yumi feels the need to reassure her that "nothing happened."

History: Momoko is the ultimate wallflower. She's so lacking in social presence that most people fail to notice her at all unless she does something outlandish, like randomly breaking out into song and dance. Deciding that the effort it took to get people to even acknowledge her existence wasn't worth it, Momoko gave up on the very idea of communicating with others, drifting through life like a ghost. That all changed when she entered Tsuruga Academy, though. She started playing online mahjong on Tsuruga's network, where her skills attracted the attention of members of the mahjong club. Momoko politely declined their invitations to join, but one of them--an upperclasswoman named Yumi Kajiki--was so taken with Momoko's abilities that she tracked down the classroom she was playing in. Yumi barged into that classroom . . . and, of course, was unable to tell that Momoko was there, even though she knew she had to be. Rather than give up, though, Yumi loudly declared that she "wanted" Momoko.

For Momoko, this was a huge surprise. No one had ever sought her out like that before, and it jolted her out of her self-imposed hermitage. She joined the mahjong club, where her lack of presence became a key aspect of her playstyle: her opponents tend to overlook what she's doing, playing into her hand without realizing it and allowing her to take risky moves without consequence. Momoko also gained an intense personal loyalty--well, something of a crush, really--towards Yumi. Spending time with Yumi brought Momoko to the conclusion that, perhaps, communication with others wasn't such a waste of time after all. She's since befriended the rest of the mahjong club, as well as the members of other school mahjong clubs hers competed against in a prefectural tournament. As of the latest chapters, Momoko and the rest of the Tsuruga crew have gone to Tokyo to cheer Kiyosumi--the winners of that tournament--on in the national inter-high competition.
Appearance: bam!
Personality: One might expect that Momoko's "talent" for being overlooked is the result of an extremely introverted personality, but this isn't the case; it's more like a physical condition. Momoko's personality is actually rather friendly, even outgoing under the right circumstances. She tends to be casual in her speech and in her dealings with others, and has no trouble bein' mucho affectionate when it comes to people she's particularly attached to (i.e. Yumi). As her hugginess with Yumi suggests, she has an excitable side--when Momoko is interested in someone or something, she tends to get really worked up about it, as is also seen when her teammate Satomi offers to tell her stories about Yumi's past.

However, you can't go through life as a living phantom without it having some influence on your behavior. Momoko's friendly personality is tempered with a certain pessimism, especially when it comes to her interactions with others. This isn't an angsty pessimism so much as it is a quiet, contented resignation. When relating her past, Momoko notes that she never found living the way she did particularly hard--she just sort of gave up, and that was that. Even now that she's left her self-imposed exile behind, Momoko still seems resigned to the idea that most people won't even notice her, and that she has little to offer even if they did; at one point she's shown thinking that her only value to Yumi lies in her mahjong skills. (She's moved to tears later when Yumi makes it clear that isn't the case.) As a result, she doesn't always make the biggest effort to get to know others; this can be seen in her tendency to refer to people by nicknames rather than bothering to use their real ones.

However, if one manages to pierce the veils of Momoko's social stealth and the resigned attitude towards relationships that goes with it, one has a friend for life. She latches on hard to people who manage that, with the most notable example being Yumi. Momoko is joined to her beloved upperclasswoman at the hip; they're rarely seen apart throughout the series, and Momoko shows flashes of a jealous side when Yumi starts getting close to Hisa, the head of the Kiyosumi mahjong club.
Abilites: Momoko is a fairly skilled mahjong player, but her main "ability" is her aforementioned inability to be noticed. Although it isn't supposed to be a literal supernatural power, it more or less acts like one, rendering Momoko practically invisible to most people. She's often drawn with ghostly tranluscence to represent this. It's worth noting that this only works in person--she can be seen just fine by people watching her on camera, for instance.
Other: nothin' really

SAMPLES
First Person: *Momoko is flopped out on her bed, holding her phone up in one hand with the camera on, a look of mingled worry and confusion on her face--mostly confusion.* So, uh, been kidnapped, I guess. Got some questions about that. Mr. Kidnapper, did you maybe mean to grab someone else? Well, since my name was on those papers, I guess that's a long shot. I'm usually pretty impressed when someone notices me, but not this time. And what's the deal with this new family you're tryin' to give me? I mean, just 'cause my parents sometimes don't realize I'm in the house even when I'm sittin' at the dinner table with them, that doesn't mean I wanted them replaced or anything.

*Her bemused expression darkens into something more gloomy and anxious* I wonder if Senpai and the rest've noticed I'm gone yet . . . I hope I can get outta here before they start to worry. Think I'll try sneakin' out tonight. And if you're really watchin' this, Mr. Kidnapper, don't sweat it--you won't even notice I'm gone.

Third Person: Momoko's face scrunched into a closed-eyed scowl as the morning sun started to beat unusually hard on her eyelids. Try as she might, its brightness was too much to sleep through--it almost felt as though she were outside.

Which, much to her surprise, she was. She blinked, slowly sitting up in the lawn chair she'd been lying in, looking around the unfamiliar yard with a bleary disbelief. To her further confusion, she realized she was dressed in her Tsuruga uniform. Was she dreaming? She dismissed the idea almost as soon as she thought of it--there wasn't enough cuddling with Senpai for this to be one of her dreams. If this was reality, though, that just raised more questions. Had she been sleepwalking? She never had before, but it seemed the most likely explanation. After all, she thought, it's not like anyone would've noticed her doing it--who knew how far she might've wandered in one night?

Not that it really mattered. The important thing was getting back home. Momoko dug her phone out, opening it to call Yumi--if anyone were to notice she was gone and start worrying about it, it would be Yumi. Only when she realized that Yumi's number was gone--along with every other number she recognized, replaced with a long list of ones she didn't--did it start to dawn on her that something weirder than sleepwalking was going on. Someone had brought her here on purpose.

The implications of that were baffling, but Momoko chose not to dwell on them for now. She dialed the first number on the list, planning to go down it one by one. She had her doubts that this would get her anywhere, but . . . it had a better chance of helping than approaching people on the street, right? "Hi! This might sound weird, but I was wonderin' if you could tell me where I am . . ."

First-person: [[I turn on the video camera on my phone.]] "Is this thing recording? Oh well, recording or not, I should get this out there." I say, messing with buttons. "How the hell did I get here? The last thing I remember is riding on the bullet train home..." I keep trying to remember things, but it's no use. [[I hold up the keys in my hand.]] "I found these keys in my hand when I woke up," I say, taking a breath. "I mean, I see the point, but I have a house now." [[I giggle.]] "Oh, wait!" I say cheerfully. "If anybody messes with me, prepare to get your butt kicked!" I say, suddenly changing emotions. "Bye?" [[I turn off the camera.]]
Third-person: She turns on the camera of her phone. She questions if the phone is recording, which it is. She says a quick hello, and asks where she got the keys. She says a questioning bye, then shuts off her phone.

IC INFORMATION
Characters Name: Neal Caffrey
Age: 30
Canon: White Collar
Canon Point: The end of free 316: Judgment Day
Species: Human
Gender: Male
Orientation: Neal is hopelessly heterosexual. All of his canon intimate relationships have been female, and he is frequently stated as having a weakness for beautiful women, so when it came down to it, he would like a wife.

History: Here is a link to a wiki page.
Appearance: Neal is a very attractive man. Like … ridiculously so. He’s 5’ 11” with a slim build, dark hair, bright blue eyes and a very nice smile. He usually dresses well, in classic designer suits, with a hat to match on top.

Personality:
Neal Caffrey, at face value, is an exercise in contradictions. He’s a conman with a heart of gold, educated but unmatriculated (and yes that is now a word), impulsive but calculating. So much of what he does may seem selfish and out for himself, but most of the time he does it for other people. He’s done a lot of growth over the course of his two years working with Peter, and at his core, Neal is witty, charming, and cautiously friendly. He knows how to use people and get them to do what he wants, but he’s also capable of being the best of friends, putting you before himself and having your back when your neck is on the line. He’s intelligent enough to try and play the rules, and most of the time does his best to do just that, but he’s got good intentions if nothing else.

At his core, Neal is about people. He understands the nuances of the way society works and the way humans read behavior. His attention to detail is not only what makes him an excellent forger but also an excellent conman, allowing him to blend into any situation by knowing the little details that will make it seem genuine. He’s willing to work hard, to put the effort in to make things perfect, rather than taking the blunt approach. There’s an elegance to his work that stems from his need to get all the details right, and it’s the reason why he can do what he does and minimize the people that get hurt in the process. In fact, a lot of what he does is for people, proving that it’s not just about how he influences them, but also how they influence him.

He starts out wanting to become a cop to live up to the memory of his dead hero of a father, and then runs in the opposite direction when he learns that wasn’t the truth, that he is the son of a dirty cop, and that his mother had lied to him. To an extent, he still has a respect for the law itself, and the spirit of the law, but not so much the letter of it. He sees the law as a line to work around, and the rules more as guidelines, and he tries to be a good person in his own way. While he is a conman who regularly breaks the law, he’s an art thief and in a sense, chose a victimless crime. He stole from people who could afford to lose, he doesn’t aim to physically harm anyone—he doesn’t even like to use a gun. He doesn’t want to hurt people, and in fact, he probably wouldn’t have made the moves as a conman that he did if it wasn’t for two people: Mozzie and Kate Moreau.

Mozzie is Neal’s best friend, and probably the second person that Neal is the most loyal to (the first being Peter). Mozzie and Neal are two people cut from the same cloth, which you wouldn’t really consider when looking at the two of them, but they both have the same kind of intentions. The only difference being that Mozzie is the one who’s usually looking for the big score. He’s the one who truly wants to subvert the law, while Neal enjoys the rush of the con. In the sense, they’re the perfect team, and they work well off each other—Neal is the smile and Mozzie is the brain. In the same vein, however, this also makes Mozzie the devil on his shoulder. He tries to get Neal to return to the life that he wants them to live, tries to sell him on the romance of it, which is one of Neal’s weaknesses. Mozzie is the one person who could sway Neal back to the darkside again, but at the same time respects Neal’s desire for his building a life and finding a family, something they both aspire to.

Aside from being charming as sin, Neal is a romantic, if that wasn’t inherently obvious by his appreciation of poetry and art. He has a thing for grand romantic gestures, and ninety-five percent of the time it’s the thing that gets him into trouble. Ninety-nine percent of the time, those gestures were the result of a woman named Kate Moreau. Kate was Neal’s first love, the woman he couldn’t save and one of the few people he’s willing to do anything for, even escape prison when he has months left on his sentence. Trying to save Kate led to a lot of reckless behavior on Neal’s part, and he made his name as a thief trying to win her back. When it came to protecting her, it could almost be said that Neal had tunnel vision, where she was the only thing that mattered, and since her death, Neal has been trying to figure out who he was outside of her. That was what really allowed him to grow and ground himself as a person. He could realign the center of his world to focus on more than one person, and see that being on the run wasn’t entirely worth it if you were going to be alone. That was really what allowed him to let Peter show him the benefits of settling down and building a life on more than just romance and that’s when Neal really begins to change.

Peter becomes the new cardinal North, so to speak, in Neal’s life. He’s the person that Neal looks to for approval, and one of the few law enforcement officials that Neal actually trusts. He is a father figure to Neal, almost in replacement of the one that Neal lost, and it’s because of that relationship that Neal can still find a way to appreciate the law, even if his real father didn’t respect it. He loves Peter’s love of the law, and his life is the one that Neal wants. He sees how happy Peter is with Elizabeth, and it’s the ideal that he wants his world to become. It has a stability to it that Neal never had with Kate or any of his other relationships. His expectations of people, and the pedestals that he place them on always seem to exceed who they actually are, but Peter is the one person who hasn’t let him down yet, and for that reason, Neal trusts him more than he would anyone else. Peter is truly honest, and while Neal knows that he’ll never be him—the rush of the con is still a large part of his life—it’s something that he can try to balance as best he can to make himself a better person. It won’t stop him from pushing those lines, however. He’s a bit like a child who’s starting to push his boundaries, trying to see how far Peter will let him go, and while Peter is always quick to reign him back in at first, there’s an extent to which he trusts Neal, which is also something Neal has never had, and has no reason to believe he deserves. Peter gives it to him, however, and he wants to continue to have it, so he does the best he can to stay in his good graces.

At the point in which Neal will be arriving in Holly Heights, Neal would have been inches from freedom, only to have it taken away from him. Agent Kramer, who was convinced that Neal would never be anything more than a criminal, planned to take him to DC, away from the family and life that Neal had built for himself, and keep him on his anklet permanently. Neal did everything he could to make sure that didn’t happen. While he didn’t know whether or not his sentence would be commuted, he knew that he would always have a place with Peter, which is what he wanted more than anything else. He had no intention of running, but when Peter gives him the go ahead, he trusts that, and prepares to leave everything he knows behind. It’s not the easiest decision he’s ever made, and while he could stay and tough things out, it would most likely involve going back to prison, and with Peter’s consent he ends up leaving his life behind anyway. It’s not an easy decision to make, but it’s what he needs to do to survive, and in the end, Neal can be counted on to do just that.

Abilites: Neal is a conman and a thief. He knows how to break into just about anything, can con you out of your last dime, and is a pretty proficient forger, if he does say so himself. Which he won’t. Well … he won’t use words.

Other: I apologize in advance for anything he may steal. Or to anyone he may snob at.

SAMPLES
First Person: Journal post sample from [community profile] paradisa.

Third Person:
Neal closes his eyes on the plane, and when he opens them, he’s on someone’s front lawn.

It’s disorienting, if nothing else. Going from thirty thousand feet on his way to Cape Verdi, and suddenly finding himself in a neighborhood out of Leave it to Beaver is dizzying, and he doesn’t get up right away because of it. For a moment he thinks that he must be dreaming, but he can’t think for the life of him why he would be dreaming of this. This isn’t something he’s allowed to have anymore.

Not that he ever truly wanted it in the first place. He has always wanted some kind of adventure, legal or not. At first he got that thrill from the con, from working right under the FBI’s nose and having Kate to run with. Then he learned how to do it from within the FBI, while Peter gave him something to hold on to. He’s giving up everything for Neal right now, and where’s Neal?

Neal is sitting in the middle of suburbia.

He pushes up to his feet after a moment, turning slowly in place just to take everything in. There’s no Mozzie, no plane, no sign of anything that even remotely resembled New York. He doesn’t remember being hit on the head, and he doesn’t think he’s dreaming. Right now, he just needs to figure out what’s going on, and how he can move on. Standing still for too long means the FBI coming down on his head, and Peter didn’t just let him go for him to get caught so easily. In fact, it would be embarrassing if it did.

He adjusts his jacket, straightens his tie, and makes his way to the front door of the nearest house. There’s a package attacked to the door with his name on it, and he takes it, but he doesn’t open it right way. He’d rather talk to someone first, if anything. He just hopes that someone will answer the door.

IC INFORMATION

Characters Name: Mikagura Tomoe.

Age: Over 100 years old due to the terraformer, but looks around 16.

Canon: Tailenders.

Canon Point: After being ejected out of Shiro's car, before the epilogue.

Species: Never specified so we'll assume she's a human.

Gender: Female.

History: Since the links that I could gather aren't sufficient/don't delve deep enough, I'll sum it up as best I can.

Terraformers, devices used to make a planet habitable by humans in the same vein as Earth, find themselves operating on the planet Terulus in an attempt to reclaim the environment. However, before the start of the series, one of these terraformers malfunctioned causing large earthquakes known as "stampedes" upon the planet and would cause much of its wildlife to deform into mutant creatures. Due to these dangerous occurrences, large cities operated on gigantic sets of wheels were created to allow the inhabitants of Terulus safety from the inevitable earthquakes. A past time on Terulus, much like baseball on Earth, is a large racing competition where everyone speeds forward in an attempt to defeat the track record of the legendary Loser King, a man that disappeared 100 years ago. One such racer, Shiro Tomoe, ends up horribly injured after crashing during a stampede. A mysterious woman named Mikagura Tomoe infiltrates the hospital and offers Shiro a chance to life and get back on the track by replacing his heart with a special engine, dubbed by Mikagura the Tomoe Drive. However, this disallows Shiro from racing in the normal circuit due to being classified as the car he drives itself.

After informing him of the Planet Redevelopment Race, Shiro and Mikagura head to this insanely dangerous race. Shiro’s goal stays unwavering, aiming to defeat the Loser King’s record while Mikagura’s aim is the terraformer though she has her own hidden agenda past that. As the race commences, Shiro ends up once again on the track with his former racing associate Goodspeed, thought to have died in the same wreck Shiro had been in. It is revealed that Goodspeed had become an android so that he may race again, and the two zoom off into their competition. During the race, Shiro is informed that the car only has one ejector seat, Mikagura’s, and that what was presumed to be the Tomoe Drive was actually just a limiter ripped off by one of the race’s competitors causing the pair to go even faster. As the race continues, it is revealed that the Loser King is still alive and still racing toward the terraformer. It is revealed by Mikagura that the terraformer, due to changing the environment, also changes the flow of time. Goodspeed deduces that the mere minutes they spend racing on the track equates to years, and it explains why Loser King had ‘disappeared’ 100 years ago.

The only reason that Loser King was able to go so fast and, by extension, why Shiro was able to catch up to him was due to the fact that Loser King was the holder of a Tomoe Drive. Mikagura herself reveals that she had once been Loser King’s partner in the past. As Mikagura begins to succumb to the effects of the terraformer, Shiro proclaims that he is going to eject her out to Goodspeed to save her life and that he is going to surpass the Loser King. It is during this moment that Mikagura proclaims that Loser King had abandoned her, and that Shiro was her engine and she didn’t want to lose him. Afraid she was going to lose him to the endless current and overcome by emotion Mikagura kisses Shiro and proclaims that she will catch him one day. It is revealed that 100 years had passed since they had been under the terraformer’s effects, and that Mikagura’s assistant scientist had become a robot. Looking solemnly off at the distance, Mikagura sees a blur goes by and hears Shiro’s voice, showing that both he and Loser King had been able to escape their trap. The OVA’s final shot is of Mikagura’s chest, and it is revealed that she has replaced her own heart with a Tomoe Drive, which will now enable her to catch up with Shiro.

Appearance: A shot shown here from the movie shows Mikagura from the knees up. She is also shown to wear dark blue boots with white stripes up the middle.

Personality: Mikagura is a pushy, intelligent sixteen year old who isn’t above underhanded tactics to get what she wants. Just as every racer in Tailenders does, Mikagura has a need for speed and invented the Tomoe Drive for that very purpose. Mikagura isn’t the kind of girl to wear her heart on her sleeve, instead deciding to keep how she truly feels about a situation under tight lock and key until she has hit the breaking point. It’s implied that Mikagura has abandonment issues, witnessed by her over the top reaction to Shiro attempting to keep her safe which would mean leaving her for an extended period of time. She is also hailed as a genius for her age, and appears to know virtually everything about the planet she resides on. Mikagura is one of the only people who know the true fate of Loser King, and from what’s seen we can imply that he is a touchy subject for her. In fact, Mikagura wouldn’t have had any interest in Shiro whatsoever if his goal hadn’t been to get close to the man Mikagura had been chasing for years. As the movie goes on, Mikagura begins to bond with Shiro and sees the resemblances between him and Loser King.

Mikagura is romantically attracted to Shiro, most likely because he reminds her of a younger Loser King as well as his intent to keep her safe. Mikagura appears to also be the kind of girl that would only help someone if it would also assist her in the long run, meaning that she isn’t exactly the Good Samaritan type. However if something is able to ping her curiosity, as a scientist she may reconsider her position. Having invented a special motor for a car and appearing to be knowledgeable enough in its application means that Mikagura is also an expert mechanic, able to reach the intelligence of a pit crew all rolled up into one individual. The fact the car Shiro drives has an onboard keyboard that we see Mikagura operate the car using can also imply that she is well versed in electronics. Going at the speeds the Tomoe Drive unlimited can reach, coupled with racing through lava and the threat of the "stampedes" without even so much as a bat of the eyelash shows just how fearless Mikagura can be, with abandonment being the only fear that she seems to have. In conclusion, apart from everything mentioned above, Mikagura is your above average sixteen year old tomboy with a penchant for going fast and turning dying men into living vehicles.

Abilites: The only abilities Mikagura has are being a genius scientist and mechanic, which includes being able to invent an engine known as the Tomoe Drive that takes place of a person's heart and is able to reach speeds high enough to set something on fire.

SAMPLES

First Person: Hey, fellow captives. Those cars that are parked in our driveways, you know the ones we've given? I've already finished modifying mine with a prototype of my new Tomoe Drive. You can pretty much ignore the speedometer at this point. This thing going 80 MPH is just a warm up. If you guys want yours modified, just come find me. I'll be around. Don't think you're getting it for free though. Once we get some of these set up, maybe we can schedule a few races. Nothing like back home on Terulus but pretty close.

Third Person: The rush of wind from the open window flew through Mikagura’s hair, and she could feel her own heart beat pumping faster against her chest by the second. Every time her foot went back down to slam against the gas, memories of a red-haired driver plagued her. Once the car she was behind skidded to a complete stop, her eyes stared intently at the steering wheel. She was in a new community, had made new friends… so why was it so hard to forget Shiro? They weren’t just miles apart anymore, they were dimensions apart. It should have been easy for her to toss him into the pit of her heart… but it had been the same with Loser King. She had grown attached and lost him, and now Shiro was added to that list. All the tears that she could have cried had dried up on the way home in Goodspeed’s car. "Damn it, Shiro…" A gentle whisper that flew between the teen’s lips. She could still feel it too, the touch of his lips upon hers. Fingers found their way to brush along them, and those final words she had left with Shiro pushed their way to the center stage of her brain.

"I’ll catch you as many times as it takes."

Was she going to go back on her word just because the distance between them had multiplied. Mikagura Tomoe was many things, but like hell she was a liar. The vehicle was brought into her associated home’s driveway and she pushed it into park before twisting the key in the ignition. The goggles that had been placed down over her eyes were now lifted to set upon the middle of her head, and her trademark smirk spread her lips apart. The car door wasn’t pushed open, it was kicked open, and out popped Mikagura. Her home was given a look up and down, and she spoke out loud more to herself than anyone else. "Just you wait, Shiro. You’re still my engine, and you won’t get out of it so easily." If the man had actually been here, he might have smirked and offered some form of witty reply back to her. Relaxation was what was in Mikagura’s future, so after taking one last look at the vehicle behind her, the teenager bounded toward the entrance of her home.

Re: Asbel Lhant | Tales of Graces | Reserved

[personal profile] preserves 2012-09-04 02:01 am (UTC)(link)
Personality:
On the surface, Asbel seems at first to fit the stereotypical role of an upright protagonist; one who is chivalrous and strong, yet is humble enough to give his time and protect those around him. So while all of these treats will match up, there lies a more deeper personality than what on the inside.

As a child, Asbel grew up in a wealthy and upright family as the successor to the Lord of Lhant. This caused the boy to become rebellious to his father and lead to leaving or doing things without permission simply because he opposed the plans for his future. Instead of becoming the heir to Lhant, he instead insisted on becoming a knight. That way he would be able to protect his friends and those he cared about. Though noble reasoning, it didn't stop him from acting against those trying to protect him from the constant disobeying. Because of this he involved both his younger brother Hubert and Cheria into all of his mischief (often times even sneaking out his room) leaving a sense of "my way or no way" mentally. He wasn't the type to listen, and often huffed of complained about unsatisfactory situations- most of which were not for his benefit. It was not until he came in contact with Sophie that his personality slowly began to morph into a different direction. With Sophie now accompany them as a new friend, his dedication to protect those he loved only became stronger, and in the end chose the path of a knight while giving up his rights to Lhant.

From there Asbel was able to train under Malik and brought up in the ways of chivalry. Asbel then became a much calmer person; not as quick to lash out at someone for a foul comment or confrontation. It also came along with a new set of manners by addressing people properly or thanking excessively. The boy is far more soft spoken then his former self, enabling him to get his point across without making too much of a fuss. He also is quicker to become embarrassed, often seen flushed about uncomfortable situations and upon being complimented. However some of his old antics still remain. For once the boy makes up his mind, there is little anyone can do to stop that. He is stubborn in his ideals and remains committed with a certain task at hand. He's not afraid to voice his opinion or step in when the time is right. If he feels that something must be done a certain way, than you can be sure that is the path he will most likely take, yet not without the counsel of his friends first (yet even then he will most likely do this own thing... hence being stubborn).

Asbel truly admires his friends and often times claims that he could do nothing without them. He treasures those he is close to, and offers his help and support to them and even someone in passing. Yet because of the people he stays with, he is able to grow stronger on a more personal level, and allows their influence to mold himself into a better person.

Though through all his knightly-like composure and good manners, this male is still quite childish. His actions lean more towards the carefree style of life, and often times can be seen trying to coordinate various victory poses for his teammates. Asbel is also one to trust very easily; taking someone's word rather than sneaking around to try to find their true motive. He is certainly not one to judge, and finds the genuine side of people rather than their faults. Not only that, but his overall thought process when it comes to protecting those around him. Malik himself claims that his ideals are too out of reach considering Asbel would like to "save everyone". Yet it is because of those ideals that makes his desire for protecting those around him grow even more.

Speaking of protecting people, that's the name of this game when it comes to this protagonist. All throughout his life he has wished to protect others, and he be sure to let those around him know just that. He pushes himself to become strong for others, and truly believes that by doing this he will help everyone he comes in contact with. Even in the case where Sophie's real identity had been discovered and her true purpose revealed, Asbel still continued to want to protect her despite Sophie claiming she had to kill herself in order to get rid of Lambda. Asbel refused to accept this proposal and instead searched for another way to protect Sophie in order to let her live. Yet his need to protect others can sometimes cloud his emotions and thoughts from anything else. Usually rash decisions are made and doesn't think about the actions he takes before he does them.

Asbel is, in every sense of the word, oblivious. Not only in his relationship to Cheria whom, many times through the game, tries to showcase her love toward the male... only to be brushes aside, but sometimes even the understanding of serious situations. Asbel may not catch on as quickly as the rest of his teammates to something going on, or even a motive for another person's doing. He's not an analyzer and therefore will leave it up to his brother to figure it out or stutters while trying to answer a difficult question. Yet aside from his natural flaws, Asbel still upholds the faith to trust that his brother will make the right decision just as he did in the past. He even admits he is not a smart as Hubert, yet is willing to work through his obvious flaws to make a medium between the two. Such as using his brute over smarts.

Like most men, as stereotypical as this may sound, have a hard time expressing what exactly they feel. This is no excuse when it come to Asbel himself. During times of great sadness of something that upsets him, he will usually hide his emotions and replace it with rage. He tends to be loud when upset, and even lashes out on occasions if such boundaries are overstepped. At one point Cheria even recognizes the boy's anger and informs Sophie, whom Asbel was currently upset over at that time, stating, "Men are... bad at feelings. Sometimes getting angry is all they really know." Yet these feelings are usually sort lived and Asbel is able to understand his rash feelings and apologize.

Although those hard male emotions can get in the way, Asbel is actually very sympathetic. Towards the end of the game where the antagonize is established, the male instantly assumes that Lambda is just some big 'ol bad guy trying to destroy their world. Yet after peeking into his past and seeing the hardships Lambda had to face, he becomes sorry for him. Even in that situation with Richard stealing the eleth from their world, Asbel still saw the man as a friend and tried to save him despite all the harm he had caused to him and his friends. Asbel and able to forgive both of them despite their prior doings and have a heart to even the worst of kinds.

Overall Asbel is a kind, compassionate boy with a heard of gold. He tries, pushes himself too hard, yet in the end perseveres in his ideals and faithfulness for humanity.

Abilites:
Asbel has the ability of Artes which are skills throughout the Tales universe that enables someone to use certain hidden and strong techniques during battle. For basic artes Asbel has the sheathed blade artes which usually consist of kicking or even using his sheath as a weapon in battle, and drawn blade burst for when it is unsheathed. Mystic Artes are also another form, but in a much stronger sense which deals powerful blows from his sword that basis skills could not be obtained before.

Physically with the help of these artes Asbel is a quick fighter; using his sword with quick and agile movements to defeat an enemy. This compensates for his lack of book smarts with brute strength, and is able to use this to his advantage instead of something that requires a lot of prior knowledge.

Yet aside from the physical, Asbel as the ability of his words to persuade or get his point across. He may not be very talented when it comes to the domestic side of life, but while learning to be a knight some form of independent training may have been established. However, none of that is to say for certain. There is only derp.

Other:
Asbel has two different eyes which doesn't appear until the end of the Main Arc- one violet and the other blue. This is because when trying to protect his friend Sophie from sacrificing herself in order to defeat Lambda, the boy allowed Lambda to "look through his eyes" as the enemy sleeps dormant within him. Because Lambda has no proper form and can possess those he comes in contact with (usually those with a low will), Asbel let himself become the vessel while promising to always keep his guard up from Lambda as to not have him be fully taken over and in turn help destroy his world. Spiffy, huh?
He also likes curry!

Characters Name: Youichi Hiruma
Age: Nineteen
Canon: Eyeshield 21
Canon Point: Chapter 333
Species: Human
Gender: Male
Orientation: Hiruma tends to get what he wants when he wants, it wouldn't surprise me if he turned out to be bisexual. As he's never been one to complain over personal things, I believe he would be satisfied with either a husband or wife.

History: Brief insight to the Commander from Hell.
Appearance: Hiruma is portrayed quite literally as a demon, despite him being human. The manga never once touches on the reasons why he looks the way he does as though it isn't unusual at all for him to have razor sharp teeth and his pointed, elf-like ears. Hiruma's hair is bleached blond - previously black- and he has bright green eyes to further distinguish him from his Japanese heritage. He has peachy skin and a very tall, lithe build; though he is strong, it is clear he was not made for strength, however he is extremely athletic. His figure is meant to bolster his agility, evasiveness and quick reflexes. His clothing ranges from an American football uniform to the flashiest of suits to a school-supplied get-up. It's won't difficult for him to find comfort in new clothes, especially the ones that will be provided to him.

Re: YOUICHI HIRUMA | EYESHIELD 21 | RESERVED

[personal profile] slushfund 2012-09-04 03:30 am (UTC)(link)
Personality: Hiruma's personality on the whole is rather bizarre and he demonstrates this in almost every situation, intimidating others with his eccentricities and his belligerent attitude. He chooses to approach his circumstances in a unique fashion; from the way he copes with stress to how he teaches people lessons, he is shown to be an amoral, vulgar character – an “anti-hero” in the eyes of the Eyeshield 21 cast. The Deimon quarterback is disreputable for being a foul-mouthed cretin whose violent behaviour scares the wits out of everyone he meets. He calls everyone by a specific nickname which starts with “fucking” and ends in the most descriptive feature of a person. “Fucking monkey” and “fucking fishlips” are two among many – anyone who disagrees with the derogatory name is subject to the wrath of his weaponry. He carries guns around everywhere and he always, always has one on him at any given moment. Hiruma even went as far as to build a weapon's silo underneath their team's clubhouse.

Being the excitable person that he is, when he's faced with exciting situations he tends to go all out to the point of ludicrousness. He celebrates things like well-executed plays by his team, touch-downs and winning games with flashy reactions including setting off fireworks, confetti, spraying fire hoses at large crowds and shooting dangerous weaponry into the air (a very common reaction, whether something happens as planned or not). He's prone to manic cackling during these activities when he's particularly pleased or is plotting something sinister... not to mention at the misfortune of people around him. He is rather easily entertained by such things as idiocy, overconfidence and failures and extremely quick to anger – say something uncultured about American football, mess with him personally or doing something inexplicably stupid. His short fuse is seen frequently, though one case is when Monta – the team's wide receiver – almost got disqualified for fighting with a referee. Hiruma ran after him screeching and firing bullets at him.

He holds no special regard for authority, his superiors, those he trains or any of the general populace. This is clear from the way he is constantly exploiting peoples' weaknesses through blackmail – where his infamous “Book of Threats” or the “Devil's Handbook” comes into play, a notebook supposedly filled with dirt on everyone he meets. He has managed to get funding for the American football club from the principal of Deimon High with relative ease as he threatened to tell the man's wife about an affair he was having. The extent of his manipulation is so notorious that his name is even known in the United States and when they travel there for training, they have no trouble getting into restricted places like casinos because of Hiruma and his extremely wide net of dirty information.

Known as one of the “brainy three” on his team, Hiruma is as intelligent as he is cunning. He makes up inventive ways of communicating to his teammates without the use of words to confuse their opponents, can see through enemy football teams' plays with ease and has an exceptional photographic memory. He can memorize an entire multi-paged booklet of unique sign-language cues the club manager, Mamori, created... in a matter of seconds. In Las Vegas at the end of the team's Death March across America, Hiruma won ¥20 000 000 (around $255 232) playing Black Jack by “counting cards”, basically keeping a running tally of all high and low valued cards seen by the player, an extremely difficult mathematical, memorization approach to the card game.

Hiruma hates the idea of showing his feelings to others. Having feelings would ruin his image, the carefully sculpted demon persona almost everyone but his teammates see when they look at him, would ruin the frightening factor, the element of surprise. He is verbally extroverted, but mentally introverted; he goes home alone, he sits alone on more than a few occasions (like on the Devil's Bats Death March across America) and shrugs worrywarts off. This is clear when members of his team – Musashi and Mamori – point out his struggles. He belittles the things they have to say, tells them it's all in their heads, replies sardonically in order to deflect the conversation away from himself...

He is goal-oriented – one of the main reasons why he acts the way he does. He says that “In American Football, you'll win if you scare the opponent outta their wits! You gotta become a badass in order to deal with the enemy!” Hiruma believes a lot of the game is about psyche-outs, tricks to confuse his opponents, taunts and intimidation. The writer of Eyeshield 21, Inagaki, stated that he intended to make a character “only concerned with winning” and who will do “whatever it takes to win”. He is unfalteringly stubborn, refusing at times to rest when he sees a goal is in sight – even when he received a broken arm in a later chapter, he asked Mamori to hide it with bindings so he could support is teammates. He's rarely ever seen slacking off or doing something that isn't for the benefit of the Devil Bats; his incessant hard-work is an important staple in the development of the Devil Bats, he even helps Musashi – a former construction worker who rejoins the team as their kicker – renovate and build parts of the football clubhouse.

He's selfish and exploits people to get whatever he wants whenever he wants, but at the same time selfless. He puts his team and their physical needs first – he is shown on the Death March to have neglected the health of his own legs while running in order to train the team's rookie players. It's clear that while Hiruma actively pretends not to harbour a conscience of any kind, on occasion he is sympathetic and even shows compassion to his fellow Devil Bat teammates. When someone tries their hardest and gives the absolute maximum they can possibly manage, he reaches out to help the underdog to bring their hopes up. When he made potential recruits for the American football team grab bags of ice, forcing them to climb the Tokyo tower before all of the ice had melted, Hiruma is seen assisting Yukimitsu – a cram school student with no talent at sports – at the last second by dropping an ice cube into Yukimitsu's bag, declaring that there was still one unmelted cube left.

And finally, more than anything, Hiruma is inspirational. He may be loud, crude and mischievous on and off the field, but when a chance to teach his team valuable lessons appears, he seizes each and every one of those chances. He is a walking, talking pep-rally for his friends, encourages his players to give their all whatever the circumstance and has a surprising amount of charisma that enables him to receive the hope and faith of his team, in some cases just by shouting “There's no fucking trashes that would think like that in the Deimon Devil Bats, right?!”

Abilites:
• Excellent right throwing arm; it is seriously like a cannon, he beams the ball
• Photographic memory, recalls the tiniest details, can memorize things in seconds
• Tactical/strategical genius, good at solving problems and puzzles
• Creepily good at card games like poker and blackjack
• Pretty fast, his 40 yard sprint clocking in at 5.1 seconds
• Is a great actor, using his skill in drama to confuse opponents
Other:
• Eats sugarless gum often

IC INFORMATION
Characters Name: Maximum Ride
Age: 16
Canon: Maximum Ride
Canon Point: Nevermore Epilogue; post-series
Species: Human (Avian-American)
Gender: Female
Orientation: Heterosexual. Both of her canon interests were male. And while one of her love interests was based mostly on feelings and history, her brief interest in Dylan was less emotion-based, and had physical-related aspects. Max shows a physical attraction to males, where she only ever shows (jealous) admiration of pretty girls.

History: Max has been through a lot, with a story that spans seven books; with a lot of it having to do with saving the world and all. Why? Because Max and her flock are special. Always have been. They are Avian-Americans, as they like to call themselves. What it means is that she and her flock are products of science – humans spliced with avian DNA. All of them have full-sized wings that allow them to soar effortlessly through the air like birds. The whole flock has them, give or take a few other special traits and powers they developed due to their days in the scientific institute known as the School.

Unlike the rest of the flock, Max knows who her parents are – Jeb Batchelder and Valencia Martinez; although that proves to be as painful as it is wonderful for her at times. She also has a half-sister Ella Martinez and a half-brother named Ari. Jeb Batchelder was a white coat (a scientist) who had been involved in their tests at the school. He was also the one who said he took pity on them and helped them escape. For a time he had even taken care of all of them like a father. But he disappeared two years before the start of the series and they had thought him dead until proven very wrong.

Jeb played a part in a lot of their adventures; sometimes helpful but usually anything but. His final stance in trying to kill Fang labeled him as an enemy and earned himself a square kick in the ribs and a loss of trust. Valencia Martinez was also a part of many of the flock’s later adventures, although she played a far more positive part. She had her secrets, but her actions had always been taken with the flock’s best interests in mind.

But the people that Max really knows as her ‘family’ is her flock. Good or bad, she can do without adults. It would hurt to lose her mom or her half-sister, but losing a member of the flock would be an entirely different pain; nearly unbearable. Through almost every horror, they have stuck together – they’ve been together since the beginning, and have a bond that really can’t be broken. As much as they fight, they come together again because they love each other.

And in their family, Max has always been the mom. After Jeb left, she became leader and mom all in one. Angel especially, she calls he baby, but she often says how much they’re like a family – how they’re all like her brothers and sisters.

Except. You know. Fang. That changes over the course of the series from like-brother to crush to the love of her life. It isn’t an easy transition though. Their relationship is complicated and has plenty of bumps including your average beginning relationship drama, Dylan, Fang leaving the flock at one point, jealousy, and Fang’s return and all the emotional fighting that came with that. But in the end Max chooses Fang. She chooses him over Dylan who was ‘made’ to be her perfect other half, and their ending is a happy one.

But what they go through to get there as a group is no walk in the park. What began as a life of solitude – living the fight or flight lifestyle; just trying to stay away from the whitecoats turns into an adventure to save the kidnapped Angel, which turns into a convoluted adventure to save the world. Unfortunately for them, that includes fighting the School’s other experiments. It didn’t end with them. No. There are many generations and alterations – with so many failures, but also plenty of “successes”, most of which were used against Max and her flock at one point or another.

They have their successes and their failures, but despite their sacrifices, in the end they are fairly powerless. They all survive, protected by the safe haven made for them. But they’re powerless to stop the threat against humanity. And while they didn’t see what happened outside of their haven, Max and Fang had chose to try, and got caught up in some of the dangers.

Appearance: http://media.comicvine.com/uploads/1/18993/502240-max3_0copy_large.jpg

Personality: Of the flock, Max is the oldest. As such, she always pushes herself the hardest. She tries to act the part of mother, sister, friend, and leader, all kind of rolled up into one. And it’s hard on her, trying to be more than one at one time. Because as leader, she often has to make decisions that the flock may not like in their best interest. Max sees herself as needing to be the strong, invincible one – in control and powerful; the one who always has a plan. Which is why it frustrates her when she has to make those decisions; and why she hates losing control of situations. Most of her life, she was the one in control of her life; she isn’t used to taking orders from others. It’s hard for her just taking suggestions, although she’s gotten a lot better about taking a moment and thinking it through – and even taking suggestions when she has to admit (hesitantly) that it would be the right thing to do.

While Max tries to be the most responsible of the group, she fails in a few areas – namely cooking. Her cooking is atrocious, and not even close to looking edible. People like to tease her about it, although she can deal. She can be loud and head-strong, but she does enjoy dishing out the sarcasm and teasing the others right back whenever someone else throws such comments at her.

She trusts kids her age over adults. In fact, it’s really difficult for her to trust adults. They’ve been betrayed so many times that her default is to distrust. And while she isn’t impossible to win her over, it’s not easy, or fast. Though Max has chilled out a lot since the beginning of the series, and would even call herself happy, she still has a lot of her old instincts. In closed spaces, her first instinct will always be to map out routes of escape.

Max’s first instinct for those younger than her is to protect them. Her first instinct for scientists is to panic. Regular adults are difficult to trust but scientists are near impossible. The scent of chemicals or the visual of white lab jackets or cages freaks her out. And in a dangerous situation, her first though is ‘fight or flight’. In the first few seconds she thinks about the situation, about the options she has and what the best choice is.

Her social skills need some work. The idea of ‘normalcy’ still gets on her nerves a little, considering her inability to fit in or ever be normal. As much as she tries to act like she doesn’t want it, she does wish she could be normal – that they didn’t have to always fight for their lives, watch their backs and generally distrust anyone. She wished she had someone she could rely on and trust; that she didn’t have to be strong all the time, but because she’s ruled that out as an impossibility for so long, the idea, and talk of it, irritates her. Around other kids, she can get along with them, but she’s not a big socializer. She’s not popular, but she’s not the type people pick on either. She used to keep to herself a lot in school, not being very feminine or interested in the other things girls liked talking about. Max tended to get along better with boys in school.

She isn’t very picky about her appearance. She started at least trying to keep her hair brushed, but after years of being on the run and fighting and trying to save the world – her appearance is one of the last things on her mind. That’s why she’s lucky that her soul mate Fang likes her just the way she is.

Max is also known to have a strong sense of justice. With those younger or weaker than her, she likes to protect them. If she sees someone in trouble, she’s going to interfere and do whatever she can to help them out, even if it’s a bit risky on her part.

Abilites: Max can appear perfectly normal, though she’s abnormally developed for her age due to her recombinant DNA. There’s an indentation between her shoulder blades that can hide her wings neatly. But with her wings extended, she’s perfectly capable of flying, and flying much faster than the other flock members; her flying speeds can reach 240-260 MPH. It’s one of her unique abilities.

Like the rest, she also has great raptor vision, far surpassing that of humans. Max is also the only one who is capable of hearing the Voice that speaks inside her head, though it may or may not be considered an ability. The Voice often gives her direction, though she is hesitant to listen to it, as none of them know exactly who or what it is. Max can also breathe underwater. Her natural fighting skills surpass those of humans. Her bones are physically built to sustain a higher level of force, despite being light-weight and hollow. Max is used to fighting, and is rather good at it. She has sharp reflexes and can fight with the best of them.

However, her abilities are mostly human, other than the ability to fly, they’re just kicked up a notch to be slightly stronger than humans. However, she also comes to realize that she has the ability to go into a state of suspended animation, which means she can make her body function as if it’s dead and quite literally play dead. As each of the flock began to uncover their own abilities, they came to the conclusion that they were all mutating independently; each gaining their own unique skills and abilities.

Other: Physically, Max looks older than she is. Due to the enhancements and changes made to her body and DNA, her body developed faster than it would have should she have just been a normal girl. It’s said that the difference is noticeable; as noticeable as the various differences to her body’s organ systems made to support the Avian part of her.

SAMPLES
First Person: Uh, so… does anyone else find all of this a little hard to believe?

[She waves around the papers about her new ‘home’.]

Yeah? Because I’m not buying it. Where’s the fine print? What’s the catch? Because a lot of people have tried to give me a ‘normal’ life. And you know what? It usually ends up blowing up in my face. Not pretty.
I just want to go back to my flock, okay? I don’t want whatever kind of ‘happy, normal family life’ you think you can just… give me. I’m tired of it. I’m… well I was happy there, okay.

Maybe some of you are happy with this, but there has to be at least a few of you who are with me on this one.

Third Person: She wakes up; no trees and no elaborate tree house in sight. Instead, her eyes gaze up at the open sky. Now, location is pretty important to Max. After all, when you’ve spent most of your life laying low, where you are at any point in time is pretty important. Especially when you don’t remember… leaving your house.

But then again, Max is used to weird things happening. That doesn’t mean she likes it. Fang’s nowhere to be seen… None of the other kids are. Not her flock, and not any of the other genetically enhanced kids that had been living in the village with them. This place looks like so many of the bland places they’d been taken more times then she’d like to admit to pretend to live ‘normal’ lives. That’s what worries her.

Just moments ago, she’d been about as happy as she’d ever been. She’d had Fang, her flock… a life. Now she had her butt planted on some plastic lawn chair, with a pair of keys clutched in her hands like they were something important. While the last thing she wanted to do was check out the house, it was also the most logical thing to do. The number on the keys matched the number on the mailbox and on the front of the house. Frowning, she turned them over in her hand and, lifting her head again, came face to face with an envelope with her name on it.

Leafing through the pages, her irritation became more prominent on her face. “…No.” Instead of entering the house then, she looked at it with a furious gaze and turned on her heel, stomping off back to the yard, teeth clenched tight. “I can’t believe this…”

She wanted to throw them down – scream. Something. She’d had about enough of this scenario. Reaching into her pocket roughly, she pulled out… a cell phone.

“Great. Let’s see what this thing can do.”

Personality:
❝I am a supporting actor, a shadow. But a shadow will become darker if the light is stronger and it will make the white of the light stand out. As the shadow of the main actor, I will make you, the light, the number one in Japan.❞
— Tetsuya Kuroko, to Taiga Kagami.

In the world of competitive-play basketball, Tetsuya Kuroko is an anomaly, to say the least. For starters, unlike most other players involved in the sport, Tetsuya could care less about being known, and is more often than not, transparent to those around him. In fact, his former title should just about give that away — being coined as "The Sixth Phantom Player" of the Generation of Miracles; what was an all-star middle school basketball team. While the title definitely pertained to his special abilities in-game, it also suited him in the way that he would usually go unnoticed to those around him until he spoke up — a running gag in the series. There’s also the fact that every member of the team had gotten immensely popular and well-known except him. Despite his title being just as famous as everyone else’s, his face and name don’t quite match up to it. As a result, Tetsuya is frequently forgotten about; but fortunately, it isn’t something he seems to mind.

On the rare occasion that someone does notice Tetsuya, their first impression of him will probably be along the lines of him being “dull, invisible, and boring.” Though, actually, that line of thinking isn’t too far off how Tetsuya is on the surface, so it goes to say that even his acquaintances and team members would say this about him. Generally quiet, reserved, and serious — Tetsuya doesn’t talk much, if not at all. What he does say, though, is usually straightforward and to the point. He isn’t the type to waste words, so you can be sure that most of what he does say is meaningful. He also has an incredibly special sense of humour; when he does make a joke, it's often difficult for others to tell whether it actually is one, or if he's being completely serious. Because his expression and tone hardly ever change, it's hard to tell with him.

In regards to speech, Tetsuya is incredibly formal. Referring to friends and strangers alike both in the same way, it’s tricky to tell how he really feels about you. Ryouta Kise, in particular, regularly comments on how distant he can be. Even though they had known and played with each other for two years during middle school, Tetsuya still comments that they're "not friends in particular." However, this is just the type of person he is. Despite what he may say concerning his relationships with others, Tetsuya is quite supportive of them and will even cheer them up; if he can. He's also surprisingly good when it comes to dealing with members of the opposite gender as well, and this really surprises those who are familiar with him. He's a gentleman through and through, and even scolds teammate Taiga Kagami for treating them too roughly.

To him, a victory in basketball isn't a victory, unless it is something accomplished by a team as a whole. Winning by simply relying on one person isn't a true victory, and to him, what is winning when only that single is satisfied? Because of this and how avid he is about basketball, all his true colours shine when he plays. For instance, the only times where you'll ever see Tetsuya get angry is in it, and you can tell when he starts to drop his formal way of speech. This is ignited when other teams constantly commit foul play, or when they attempt to bring down his team. As said before, Tetsuya becomes a totally different person when playing basketball — and during these instances where he's angry, he can be downright intimidating instead of invisible.

In spite of how gloomy he may appear to most, Tetsuya is actually quite the optimist — and can be extraordinarily passionate given he's in the right setting. Satsuki Momoi for instance, comments on this and how he becomes a whole new person when playing basketball. Giving up is never an option, and even when they're behind in point count — it's hard to demoralise him. He'll give it his all down to the very last second, even through injury. If there's a limitation in his play style, you can be sure that he'd do his best in trying to overcome it as well. However, this isn't to say it's impossible to get him down. Tetsuya is incredibly hard on himself when it comes to promises. His promises are rare and few, and as mentioned before, he doesn't like to say things he doesn't mean. As a result, breaking promises are a huge blow to his ego.

Abilities:
Members of the Generation of Miracles were known for their talents in basketball. For Kuroko, on top of his lack of presence in general is his ability of misdirection. By utilizing this in a basketball game, he’s able to direct someone’s attention away from the ball — allowing him to both change its direction and speed. However, his ability doesn’t last as long as a full game of basketball does; simply because it is beyond his physical limit and its effectiveness decreases as the game drags on. While this ability is primarily used in game, Tetsuya does make use of it once outside of it in canon. Instead of directing attention away from the ball, he directed it away from himself in order to escape an unfavourable situation. He also has his newly developed phantom shot — though none of these abilities are supposed to be "unnatural."

Tetsuya's also naturally unnoticeable, if that counts for anything.

Third Person:
There wasn’t a doubt to what Kuroko’s first priority was upon arrival. When his eyes had blinked open, he had only briefly wondered where everyone went and where he was, before making a beeline toward the mall. Information was easy to come by, and it was hard to faze him in general. He figured that he would get sent home sooner or later, or that people from home would start to show up. Either way, it wasn’t worth wasting time and energy making a fuss over, so he immediately began on fixing his daily routine.

There were nice parks, he noted — but no courts or hoops available on the way. There was also a gym at the school — but that definitely wouldn’t always be unoccupied. Well, he figured that having a hoop wasn’t of utmost importance, considering his role in-game and all. But still, it completed the whole feel of being in a basketball court. In any case, he would make do with what was available. After all, setting up a backyard court wasn’t much of a trouble.

So once he had hit the mall, his first purchases since arriving included a basketball, a ball pump, and a standard hoop. He hadn’t bothered checking out any of the other stores either, only entering the sports store before instantly heading back toward home.

Setting up took a few hours at most, if only because he had read through the entire set-up manual before getting to work. Despite not having anything to eat since before he had arrived, the fact that he was able to play again had overridden any hunger that he possessed at the time.

And to commemorate the event, Kuroko tries first thing to make a shoot for the hoop—

—only to have it bounce from the rim.

Some things never changed, no matter where you went. But hey, on the bright side, at least it wasn't an air ball.

Characters Name: Yuki Sanada
Age: 18 at his canon point
Canon: Tsuritama
Canon Point: end of the animu
Species: human
Gender: male
Orientation: Unknown (and he likely hasn't given it any thought himself due to his social phobia). Going with safely bisexual because it's been hard enough for him to make friends, let alone be interested in anyone. He does, however, grow to be very comfortable with his male friends, thus that reasoning.

History: wiki
Appearance: not gay at all
Personality:

Yuki has always drawn attention to himself when that's about the last thing in the world that he's wanted. Having red hair in Japan, first of all, is nothing to pass on by, and his crippling anxiety makes him do things that aren't quickly forgotten by his peers. Luckily he moves around with his grandmother so much that he doesn't often have to face the same people twice.

He has extreme social anxiety, where he's always worrying about how others see him or not being able to do something right and then being made fun of. He even has to look up the proper way to greet his new classmates in an effort not to mess up. When he's faced with a situation that makes him nervous, he freezes up and feels as though water is closing in all around him, taking away all of his breath. During this process he is also known to make terrifying "demon faces" ... which frighten away potential friends and classmates because it makes him seem very angry. He sweats profusely and most embarrassingly of all, usually ends up doing something like screaming and then running away in shame.

Because of this, and the fact that he moves so often, Yuki has never really had any friends. His closest companion and most special person is his French grandmother, Kate. While for the most part he seems content with Kate's company and cares for her very much, he is in fact a bit lonely deep down. What young boy wants to go through high school completely alone, after all. Even if he didn't have anxiety, it would probably be difficult for him to make friends. He's generally not very talkative and some of the characters in the series wonder if he even talks at all when they meet him for the first time. He also gets the nickname of "stonefish" because of how expressionless and quiet he is except when he makes his one terrifying face.

Actually, Yuki is a very nice boy. His quietness is merely a defense mechanism, because he doesn't want to mess up, and he's never had many people to talk to in the first place. The few people that he becomes close to, however, he loves very much and would do anything for. He cares so much for the people he loves that when something goes wrong, he's sometimes not able to do anything else. When Kate goes to the hospital for an extended stay, he spends days being unable to do anything but lay around.

When he needs to think things over, he prefers to go off and be by himself. He usually goes to his room and lays down for a while, thinking over the things bothering him as if they're movie reels going through his mind. Kate often tells Haru to leave Yuki alone when something is bothering him, because he'll come back and talk again when he's ready to. He doesn't like to be pressured when he's feeling bad and prefers to take things at his on pace. On that note, he doesn't like to be called useless or anything similar, and will work hard to prove himself of worth to people that he either respects or admires.

Two things that Yuki most assuredly loves outside of his grandmother are the ocean, and the internet. Moving to Enoshima is probably his favorite destination to date because it's right on the ocean. As soon as they arrive, he's ecstatic and happy to call the place his home. The ocean seems to calm him down and make him happy even if when he's actually at sea, he's very unstable — at first! He later gets his sea-legs and loves it. In Japan, the internet is popularly used through cellphones. Yuki wouldn't be caught dead without his, as he uses it to look up basically anything he doesn't know or is uncertain of. Some things he's searched include anything from fishing terms to friendship.

Yuki may be extremely awkward, make funny faces, and spend a good chunk of his day thinking about how not to be embarrassed, but he's strong in his own ways. He's a loyal friend to the end and only wants a normal life where everyone he loves is truly happy.

First Person:
meme thread!

Third Person:
Yuki stood still in the front lawn of his supposed new "house". He was still enough to be a statue in fact ... or perhaps more like a fountain, as sweat was making its way in steady streams down his face. He wasn't even sure his heart was beating at the moment; the only sound he could hear was rushing water.

In his right hand, he held the phone he'd been given and tried mercilessly and to no avail to find a search function on. In his left he held the letter written by the landlord which had not only given him keys but a new address and information on a family — a family he was the head of. The letter was calling him the man of the house, the father and —

Blip blip — tiny bubbles of air passed through his lips as the water began to fill his lungs and pour in over his head at last. He had stopped breathing a long time ago, but only now was it starting to hurt. What does he do in this situation? Where is he, and where are his friends ...? It's not Enoshima, there was no view of the ocean that he could see before his vision turned to water itself. And Haru was gone anyway, which was a whole 'nother ache in his chest for other reasons.

I'm drowning. This is it, it's really happening this time. I ...! Alone. Family. Father. The words were haunting him and just as he felt he would finally croak beneath all that water and sweat he was accumulating, he broke free. He broke free and yelled, running off his lawn, passed the neighbor who'd been frightened of his demon face, passed the houses that all looked the same, and ran down the street as quickly as his legs would carry him.

He'd stop running when he was completely free of people to embarrass. Or maybe whenever he hit the ocean. That would be nice. Nothing could be better than fishing with his friends again.

IC INFORMATION
Characters Name: Utena Tenjou
Age: 14
Canon: Shoujo Kakumei Utena
Canon Point: Pre-series, Just before starting her second year in junior high.
Species: Huuuumaaaan
Gender: Female
Orientation:
Delightfully ambiguous, or just straight up doesn't care. Since we're looking at the anime series strictly, there's implications of her relationship with Anthy. But on the other hand, she's attracted to males in the series, such as Touga and Akio. Although, her relationship only furthered with Akio because of manipulation. So it's hard to say where she firmly stands, or just doesn't care about sexuality. We could go on and on about this, but not reach any true conclusion.

History:
We could start off that Utena prances around her academy, being all princely. But really, her history goes a little further than that, right? So check it! At the tender age of six, her parents had passed away from an accident. During this difficult ordeal, Utena had decided that life wasn't just all that worth it if the people you grow close to perish away so easily. So what does she do? Hang out in a coffin, waits to die. Normal stuff kidlings do, right? RIGHT?! Obviously she didn't die, but she was visited and saved by a young prince who felt her nobility was so very strong. He gives her a ring, telling her never to lose that bit of her. Of course, Utena feels that she would like to meet her prince again someday, but instead of being a damsel, she takes on the role of being a prince herself. STANDING UP FOR ROSE BRIDES BEING SLAPPED EVERYWHERE! I mean--she just wants to right wrongs and help others in need. Yes, that. This is where the history shall end, since she will be taken pre-series rather than somewhere in the middle. Snooch.
Appearance:
I guess she is a little tall for a fourteen year old Japanese girl. Very fit, light skin, pink hair, blue eyes to pull you in and drown you. This sort of stuff. She has quite the stems as well. Oh la la. But really, you'll mostly notice her for the overly optimistic one.
Personality:
Naive. Okay, we'll really do this, right? Utena really is one that is full of the nobility, she makes a good friend because of this. Mostly because she'll stick with you and stick up for you when the time is needed. For the most part, a lot of people see Utena as this strong girl who does what she wants and kicks ass in basketball. So basically, the type of girl every other girl in school is gay for. Though she herself doesn't really notice this, and strangely enough doesn't seem to notice a whole lot.

For such a strong and dynamic character she presents herself to be, there's a lot she doesn't seem to add up or even think twice on. That doesn't mean she's a total push over, she'll slap you upside the head if you try and get physical. And will duel till the end of time--even if it really isn't her thing at the beginning. Utena is always thinking of the right thing to do, and looking for the good around her, it's probably because of this that she's easily led along without realizing it. She's pretty laid back to the point of it almost being extraordinary. It's like all abnormalities aren't questioned and thus gives off the impression that she may possibly have a warped sense of perception. Not that it really causes any strain with any of her relationships, it in fact only helps them more since she overlooks so much because of this sort of flaw. This is more notably how her relationship with Anthy seemed to grow. Since she stepped in simply to help someone, only to be seemingly "engaged" and only going with it to continue to protect her.

Contradictions, that's what this girl is! Strong, but easily led. Noble and yet strangely hypocritical at the end.
Abilites:
Very athletic. Being princely. Being ambiguous.
Other:
She has the hobby of collecting tea cups with rose-emblems.

"Is this a test?" Such a simple look at things.

But still she found herself looking down at the envelope again, now reaching inside for the contents.

"I just need to get back to Ohtori Academy, if you tell me the way..." she trails off, reading the paperwork. Brows knit and now a little more confused. What was this? A contract?

IC INFORMATION
Characters Name: Natsuki Usami
Age: 17
Canon: Tsuritama
Canon Point: Episode 8
Species: Human
Gender: Male
Orientation: Unstated, but I'd be fine with him being with either?

History: here
Appearance: here
Personality: When Natsuki is first introduced in Tsuritama as one of Yuki's classmates, he seems stand-offish and reticent. This isn't entirely an inaccurate evaluation of his personality — he isn't the kind of guy who opens up to others easily. So to most people, he simply seems like a slightly proud, but otherwise reserved kid. He doesn't really like anyone to know much about him, either. But even so, he's still a polite sort of guy; the sort who will give up his train seat for an older man without being asked. So even if he's a bit stand-offish to people his own age, he's still a hard worker and fairly well liked in Enoshima.

Because really what makes him so proud is his title as "the fishing prince". He's one of the best young fishermen in Enoshima; one of the best in Japan, really. But even if he comes off a little impatient at first, he actually really does know how to teach fishing, and as he teaches Haru and Yuki more about it, he begins to warm up to them as he learns that they are actually serious about the hobby, and not just treating it as a joke or as something "easy". As proud as Natsuki is of being a good fisherman, though, he hates for people at school to know about it, because he doesn't like being associated with the sport on that level— and he wants to separate the fishing part and just being a normal school boy. But he's still incredibly passionate about fishing, and you can see it in the change in his expressions when he talks about the sport.

We see the most depth out of him when he's with his father and sister. Natsuki has a lot of problems with his father— partially because he doesn't want his father to change his shop business to something more cafe-like and less Enoshima like, and also, more importantly, because he thinks his father has forgotten their dead mother to be with another woman. His little sister, Sakura, also has this issue, but Natsuki doesn't really see that she's suffering either. As much as he loves Sakura, and softens significantly in her presence, he still acts out to her when his dad is involved.

The most important part of his relationship with Yuki to his personality is that Yuki doesn't understand the full depth of his family situation, and thus when Natsuki is being especially stubborn, Yuki calls Natsuki out on his stubbornness, and helps him realize that he isn't the only one hurting over it, and that he should treat his father and sister better than he had. This is the point that he's coming from at his episode eight canon point, when he's started to accept his father's new life a bit more, and starts being a better member of the family over all.

Abilites: He's a skilled fisher, but that's it!
Other: I'm taking him from right before he gets his haircut in episode 8, so he doesn't actually know what Haru really is yet.

SAMPLES
First Person:
[ the young man on camera sighs a little, closing his eyes. there's a faint trace of a smile on his lips. ]

... You know, I'm used to a slow life, but I still think there's something missing. Those forms we got— when we got here? They said something about the finer things in life being around, if we just use the red key, but ...

I think there's something missing.

[ he adjusts the cell phone, so that the viewer can see what's behind him. namely ... more houses. ]

You can't see the ocean here at all.

Is there at least a lake here? I don't want to fall out of practice. Although if anyone knew a way out, that would be ideal. Lakes make for poor substitutes.

Third Person:
When Natsuki first woke up, he thought he must have fallen asleep on the pier. Except when his eyes regained focus, he realized that wherever he had woken up was far too ... landlocked. Not to mention that he didn't remember ever laying back in a lawn chair.

He stood up. This wasn't Enoshima, that much was obvious. It looked like something off an American show, not that he paid much attention to most of those. It was very ... clean. Everything seemed perfectly manicured, like there wasn't a single hair out of place. It wasn't that Natsuki couldn't appreciate organization or attention to detail, but this just seemed like it was too much. There wasn't even anyone out on the streets.

Mostly though, it was the lack of water that was starting to bother him. It wasn't like he was adjusting from city life or anything like that, so he couldn't complain that this place seemed like it would be slow. But he needed to be able to fish. He couldn't just give that up because he was somewhere else. They had promised to fish together, after all. Even if he couldn't see Yuki, or Akira, or Haru here.

Although this could be one of Haru's strange pranks with his water gun, couldn't it? He sighed inwardly. This seemed like a little too much even for Haru, but it was the only lead he had. So he might as well try to follow it. He scanned the scene again, before he realized there was a note on the door. Something addressed to him. It didn't look like Haru's writing (and he was pretty sure Haru wouldn't bother with things like envelopes), but maybe it could be an answer of another sort.

Personality:
There are a few things I'd like to go over before I get into the meat and potatoes of what makes Edward Elric tick. Mostly about Alchemy and Edward's connection with it, considering it's probably his most pertinent ability and shapes how he behaves and lives. To understand that, I have to explain alchemy a little bit!

Alchemy is taking object one and turning it into a completely different object! There are rules of course. One must have an understanding of chemical compounds, and how these materials interact with one another in order to create a sucessful transmutation. For example, any alchemist worth half his salt should logically be able to turn lead into gold. Now, they don't, because this is illegal! But the point is that an achemist draws on the elements around them to create new items.

Alchemy is also based around the principle of equivalent exchange. "Mankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return." Your materials must balance in order to create this new item. It's like salt. Sodium Chloride. To make salt, there can't be too much sodium, nor too much chloride. The two must coexist.

Lastly, Alchemy is done by means of creating an array. These are drawn circles that give the energy used in alchemy direction. If your array is flawed, your alchemy will not work, or produce an undesired result.

So now that I've explained a little bit of that, let's see why it all matters!

Edward lives his life by the philosophy alchemy teaches. And with very good reason. It's all he's ever known. Edward and his younger brother, Alphonse, have always relied on alchemy. Even when they were just kids, they used alchemy to make their mother smile. When she passed away, it was the hope that they could bring her back to life with alchemy that kept them going. When their transmutation failed and took Ed's leg and Al's entire body, Edward relied on alchemy to exchange his arm for his brother's soul. The Elrics truly learned the meaning of equivalent exchange during this time. So they live by that rule. Literally. For example, Edward went through the pain of automail surgery (Attaching functional metal limbs to his body. It's a very painful process.) Ed didn't care the pain it caused him, even though he was just a mere child of 11. It's a process that brings the burliest of men to their knees, as the surgery requires attaching every single nerve to this new mechanical limb. This was the first step in equivalency in returning Alphonse to his normal body.

Why is Edward so good with alchemy, one might ask? First of all, it's in his blood. His father was the renowned alchemist Van Hohenheim. Second, Ed had the most badass teacher.. ever. Izumi Curtis. Izumi believes that to know and understand alchemy, one must also know the discipline of fighting, and taught the Elrics just that. Third, Ed has seen what they call 'The Truth'. When someone commits a taboo (resurrecting the dead mostly) the achemist is sent to The Gate. There, they offer up a sacrifice to a faceless figure there. This figure will share infinite knowledge of alchemy: ie the Truth. Because of this, Edward is able to create his alchemy arrays by simply clapping his hands together. You make the circle using your own body. That, ladies and gentlemen, is what makes Ed so badass.

Other than all of this, Edward's really your typical 16 year old. Nevermind the fact that he is the youngest boy ever to enter Amestris' military at just 12 years old, achieving the title of State Alchemist, Edward is, ultimately, still just a kid. He's a kid living in an adult world. Edward, though very advanced in intelligence, does acts his own age from time to time. The boy's extremely bold nature, no bull-shit attitude, and and general strong will get him into gobs of trouble. Consider, for example, first meeting Paminya, who stole Ed's silver alchemist pocketwatch issued from the state. What's this twerp's solution? HUNT HER DOWN AND BEAT THE CRAP OUT OF HER.

He's also pretty damn callous. Ed is shown for having a true disdain for things like religion. My guess? God never showed them much mercy. And even to those that practice those ideals, Edward becomes rather callous, calling out their behavior. This just shows that he's a blunt individual and isn't afraid to tell you what's really going on. Call it his pride, which he has quite a bit of, call it mean. It'll be brushed off strong shoulders.

Edward can be very prideful of his intelligence--especially with alchemy. Most of the time, his creations are overly ornate, usually decked out in some kind of Gothic style, and a plain eyesore. A thing to understand here is that Ed is not limited by walls or doors, or... anything really! Because of his alchemy, Ed is able to move freely, making him quite a danger when in a fight.

Ed's known to be quite a skilled fighter, having trained under one of the most talked about martial artists ever. His combative ability puts him on par with alchemically created beings called Homunculus, who each have some kind of finely honed skill. ... He can also be... a liiiiittle reckless, but so what?! It gets the job done! It should also be noted that Ed doesn't like to sit still. He's a bit of a busy body, and he's always searching for something to learn. Take, for example, when Winry works on his automail, he wants to peek in and watch.

The more logical side of him is much more calm and much easier to deal with. Edward's real love? It's Alchemy. Both of these quick-witted brothers can spend hours upon hours in libraries without even realizing it, researching anything they can related to Alchemy. And they have a damn good reason for it. Having lost parts of their bodies, the brothers both promised to not stop walking until they had been returned to their original bodies. Ed's love of the sciences makes him highly over-critical and overly-logical. So much so, he sometimes misses the smaller details. It's a good thing Alphonse is there to back him up. Ed relies on hard facts more often than not.

Another thing to note about Edward is his 'Faith' so to speak. As previously mentioned, Ed is not religious, nor does he believe in a god. His faith lies with his science, and Alchemy's first principle. Equivalent Exchange. One cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. Edward follows this principle very closely. And reasonably so. They've always had this law to fall back on. It's a comfort zone for Edward, and it's what works for him.

Though it does notably make him rather stubborn and brash, and sometimes, even blatantly disregards military orders to uphold that natural law. Ahaha, but what are tactics? There's one point in the first few episodes where Ed takes Alphonse's head (seeing as he is a suit of armor) and chucks it at an enemy, knocking him out cold. WOW, Ed. Just. Wow. At least it's resourceful? He can be... kindof... tactical, I guess. He claims to be interested in religion to get close to a faking father? But anyone with two eyes could have seen through it.

Ed, though he's immature and can come off like he doesn't care, is one of the most if not THE most compassionate state alchemist there is. He became known early on as a fighter for the people. In general, every corruption he finds, he tried his damnedest to set things right. He shows an almost altruistic behavior in several situations. He holds his morals very high, but doesn't mind being the scum of the earth when it comes down to it!

Ed is shaken by anything taboo related... It's only natural after everything these brothers have gone through, but when faced with one of these very horrible situations, he can react in anger, violence, or even shut himself down, though that isn't always the best idea.

Lastly, I feel it's important to hit on the people closest to Ed.

To the people he considers close? You can have no better friend or ally. Ed would give the shirt off his back to help someone close to him, and is quite loyal to boot. To the people he's closest to, he'll do everything in his power to keep those people safe and not have to worry about him--though this backfires more often than not.

Alphonse is extremely important to Ed. I believe Ed feels an almost overwhelming guilt for pushing his younger brother to attempt human transmutation to bring back their mother. Ultimately, Alphonse lost much more than Edward did during the whole ordeal. Alphonse is his top priority and restoring his body to its original state. He shows a disregard for the prices he paid--his arm and leg--though Alphonse consistently tells him that restoring Ed's limbs comes first. Though they have this immensely close bond, the two of them are constantly bickering, just adding to the child-like behaviors in this adult world.

Winry is someone very close to both brothers. It was Winry who designed Edward's automail, and gave him the opportunity to stand and walk again. Though canonly, it is shown that Edward and Winry end up together, it is important to note that this is well after Edward had 'put things back to normal' so to speak. With Al in his rightful body and his right arm restored, Ed confesses. So though he holds a thing for Winry, it will not be revealed until after Al gets his body.

OH. AND ONE MORE THING.

Don't you ever, ever under any circumstances refer to Edward Elric's height as less that what it should be. This is included, but not limited to, shorty, shrimp, midget, bean, twerp, small fry, how's the weather down there, resoundingly wee stature, molecule, microscopic, shorty mcshortshort, or, especially, pipsqueak.

Abilites: N E R F E D.

Poor thing. Most of his coolest abilities will be nerfed for Holly Heights, but that doesn't excuse me from going in depth on them!

As I said in the personality, Edward is only limited by the materials around him when it comes to alchemy. And because of his trip to the Gate, he's an alchemic genius, and by a simple clap of his hands, he can form damn near anything. As long as he follows the law of equivalent exchange, he's good.

But... that's being nerfed... so...

He's pretty much got his quick-wit and that's about it. :|

Characters Name: Lovinio Vargas/Romano
Age: 21
Canon:http://hetalia.wikinet.org/wiki/South_Italy
Canon Point: Modern Day
Species: Personified southern half of a country
Gender: Male
Orientation: Lovino is a straight man with a never ending love for beautiful women. However, there might be one or two individuals out there who would be able to swing him to the other side given the right circumstances and bond with them.

History: http://myanimelist.net/character/17458/South_Italy

Appearance: http://cdn.myanimelist.net/images/characters/4/96724.jpg
Personality: Romano can be a short tempered, foul mouthed, lazy brat. His most prominent trait is his anger and fiery mouth. He is not afraid to speak what is on his mind, even if it’s rude. Even if it gets him in trouble he will keep going because he is stubborn. It’s extremely difficult for him to change his mind about someone once he decides he does not like them since he is not very trusting of many people. However he is not only just made of bad traits and is capable of enjoying life. He enjoys the simple pleasures in life such as eating a fantastic meal or even going to go look at beautiful flowers. He can be hard working when the time calls for it and step up to his responsibilities when he really needs to.
He does enjoy flirting with girls when he gets the chance, however overall he's a bit of a loner and doesn't interact with very many people unless the situation calls for it. He is easily annoyed and it not very patient with people at all. Those he cares about are far and few in between, but when he truly makes a connection, he would go to the ends of the Earth for that person. Though he might not admit it openly on his own and doesn’t always go about the best way of showing it.
That being said, his closest bond is with his brother and Spain. Him and Italy constantly pick petty fights just like regular siblings do, but if someone else even dared to make an attempt to hurt his brother in any way, he'd hunt them down and at least try to act like a macho about it. Spain was the one who raised him for most of his life. There were hard times in the beginning with getting used to each other since Romano doesn’t take too kindly to change. He has appreciated all the good times though he hardly ever mentions it. He is not one to openly admit having a close relationship with very many people.
Abilites: He is the personified version of Italy, more specifically the Southern half so he would of lived through it’s entire history, the well being of his country effects his actual health.

First Person:

[Lovino's webcam flickered on to reveal him slouched over in his chair with a disgruntled look on his face.]

For fucks sake, it's about damn time I got this thing to work! Technology is such a pain in the ass to get to work.

[He sighed and stared at the screen, not quite sure how to feel about talking to an object.]

I don't understand how people are so.....so used to talking like this either. Talking to a giant pile of junk that can't even give you a direct response!

[He sighed angrily as he bit his lip. He hated being in an unfamiliar area which was his exact predicament right now. He didn't know where the good Italian restaurants were, or were he could go to scope out beautiful women. Things were not going his way and he was NOT pleased.]

I'd rather be talking to a beautiful woman right now. Ugh. Maybe I should go in a bit and just see what I can find, there has to be SOMETHING here for me.

[He fumbles around with the computer for a bit struggling to turn it off. In the end he just ends up simply punching the power off button.]

IC INFORMATION
Character's Name: Cheria Barnes
Age: 18
Canon: Tales of Graces
Canon Point: Near endgame, right after she sees Asbel reach out to Lambda to absorb him.
Species: Human
Gender: Female, both mentally and physically.
Orientation: Asbel-sexual-- by which I mean, straight (hetero). Her crush on Asbel is obvious and relentlessly teased multiple times; and at the Beach Resort, it's the boys that she makes her moves on, for practice before charming Asbel. Of course, she comes to care about Sophie a great deal, too, but it seems to be more as a big sister or a mother than a love interest. So ultimately, I believe she'd be happier with Asbel a husband.

History: Cheria's wiki page; and there's also a much more detailed history of canon events under Asbel's page. More general information about the game and its plot can also be found here.

Appearance: Simply adorable.

Personality:
Even from a young age, Cheria's affection for her friends-- Asbel in particular-- is clear. She grew up as a sickly child in Lhant with both Asbel and his brother Hubert, and despite her condition, always wished to spend as much time with them as possible. When the two of them return from Lhant Hill with their new friend Sophie, she acts very offended that she wasn't invited to go with them in the first place. She's quite close with the Lhant family in general, and doesn't like feeling left behind or helpless; and although she does grow as a character, this remains consistent throughout the game.

This part of her is probably most obvious after the seven-year timeskip. After Asbel has left home to become a knight, effectively walking out of Cheria's life as well, despite telling her that he wouldn't-- despite how desperate she had been, to be there for Asbel in a difficult time after losing both Sophie and Hubert. Cheria's reunion with him seven years later is stiff and awkward; and while this is to be expected, given that she was forced to tell him about his father's death, she acts cold and distant to the point where even Asbel himself notices. Asbel, who's shown to be quite oblivious, especially to her feelings! She bottles up her resentment, however, and becomes a party member to fight by his side-- as if to prove to him how much she's changed. And it isn't until later, after being kidnapped, that she's able to truly reconcile things with him.

She is kidnapped as a hostage by Raymond after overhearing his plans to steal an important letter in Asbel's posession, which was to be delivered to Yu Liberte. They are able to rescue her quickly, because Hubert sees through this plan; and it is then, after Asbel yells at her for endangering herself that she finally breaks down and tells him what's been on her mind. She yells back and cries, telling him about how lonely and unimportant she'd felt for all those years-- about how much she's missed him. She blames him for everything in her emotional state; and he finally apologizes for it, seeing how deeply it's affected her. With Sophie's help and encouragement, their fight ends, and they slowly start to warm up to each other once more.

Finally obtaining the closure she'd desired, Cheria is able to move on and continue fighting by his side. She is a bigger person when she faces Raymond again, the cowardly man who stabbed himself after being caught in his desperate attempt at blackmail; and she shows it by healing him, despite how poorly he'd treated her earlier. It's enough to surprise him, definitely, and he demands to know why she would give him her help-- but her only response is to say that they should both forget about all that. It really shows how important helping people is to her-- because rather than hold a grudge against him, she lets it go and treats this as a lesson for him in the future. She encourages him to remember what she's done for him, the next time he has the urge to do anything crazy; and, at last showing her the respect she deserves, he says that he will.

Cheria's clearly quite forgiving, then, and a very compassionate person. It's likely that her resolution with Asbel helped her come to this decision, too, however, since being honest with him really helped her to realize that holding this grudge for seven years hadn't done her any good at all. Ultimately, the same would apply for Raymond as well, and she knows it-- thus, her actions. Her friends hardly questioned them either, at the time, suggesting that Cheria's always been like this. Her willingness to overlook and forget-- even forgive, is something to be admired, and something totally normal. Not at all out of place.

Asbel even likens her to an angel towards the end of the game, after seeing how easily she could empathize with Emeraude, who betrayed them-- and with Lambda himself, after seeing scenes from his tragic past. Her decision to travel the world and continue her relief work, healing those less fortunate, certainly completes this image; and it's really what leads him to boldly call her that aloud. She even admits to him that, even though it's late, she finally understands his decision to leave seven years ago and join the Knight Academy.

And this is something she has to do for herself, now.

Cheria is still as motherly as she's always been towards all her friends, however. Throughout the game, she's shown several times to be the one who cooks for everyone (their favorites, no less!) and the one who makes sure they all eat properly, despite the stress they may be under. She can come across as naggy because of this, and not just about their eating habits; but it shows how much she cares and how much she cherishes them. So it's appreciated, especially during hard times.

She cares about everyone in the group, of course. However she is, unsurprisingly, protective over Sophie in particular. When Sophie needs advice on the more feminine aspects of her life, like understanding emotions, it's Cheria that she goes to-- or rather, Cheria is the one that approaches her. Even on the night before the promised battle at the Lastalia, when Asbel speaks with Cheria, she warns him to take care of Sophie, or she "can't be responsible for what happens"-- and this shows that, even though she does plan to travel, she doesn't plan to leave them behind.

Not then, not ever.

Abilites:
Cheria has ability to use Artes, which are magic spells and attacks common among the Tales games. Specifically, her arte style employs throwing daggers, which she can use to attack enemies from afar. This is particularly useful for her because of her poor physical defense and slow running speed. She's a lot safer attacking from a distance, and she is also free to move after attacking, so she can both get to safety or pursue enemies as needed. By guarding and concentrating, it is also easier to land critical hits with her than with other characters; and after staggering enemies, she can perform Mystic Artes, which are higher-level skills that do even more damage than her Dagger Assault artes.

In addition to these offensive artes, Cheria is also a healer. She can learn various Sacred Burst artes (Holy Burst style) which can heal herself and multiple allies within range-- and she has spells like Remedy and Recover in her aresenal which can cure various status ailments. Not only that, but she can also buff her allies' accuracy and evasion, as well as reduce damage from certain types of enemies like Dragon and Fiend enemies-- so she is useful in a lot of ways.

A full list of the Artes she can learn can be found here.

IC INFORMATION
Characters Name: Ancient Rome / Grandpa Rome / Roman Empire
Age: 900+ years old
Canon: Axis Powers Hetalia
Canon Point: 117 AD
Species: Personification of a nation
Gender: Male
Orientation: Bisexual, but heavily leaning towards women. He has shown interest in women heavily, but nations have a different approach to gender, sex, and sexual orientation.
History: roman empire history & hetalia wiki
Appearance: here & here
Personality: Rome was born out of ambition of power and being the most powerful empire in the entire world. With this, his personality is not only shaped around the ideals, desires, ideology of the Roman empire, but also his personality comes from the average Roman plebeian. He was born great and powerful, and he knows it. He knows how strong he is, and he's always up for a good fight. Sometimes he enjoys fighting too excessively and it has caused him problems and has hurt him. He's driven to conquer and make other nations and peoples a part of him. This desire to integrate other nations and peoples shows in his personality and history. He's been a father/guardian figure for many of the future European nations such as Spain and Frace. While not always the nicest policy wise, he took in these nations rather than just conquering and enslaving them. He guarded them, taught them many things, and imprinted heavily on them.

Rome has a great weakness for women, wine, food, battle, and his cute grandsons (aka Italy and Romano in Hetalia). Rome is known to be a playboy, often day dreaming about attractive women and food. He doesn't care for the political side of the Roman empire, just wanting to fight and be a soldier. He easily gets excited when it comes to violence -- from gladiator matches to long battles in foreign lands. He loves partying, meeting new people, and taking part in debauchery. He's a social butterfly, and sometimes a little too bold when it comes to beautiful women. When he's not fighting, he can actually be quite caring and kind. His softer side is shown with his grandchildren, and it shows he's more than just a fighter. He loves to teach Roman things to people, and he's protective of those who are loyal to him. He also has a weakness for his grandsons, ignoring many of their flaws and thinking they are adorable. When it does come to more serious matters, AKA when he is forced to be, he is a strong leader who uplifts the spirits of his men and those fighting alongside him. He just finds the political side of things downright boring beyond belief.

Rome had a lot of friendship/fighting sort of relationships with his neighbors and loved ones. It's said that his greatest are Ancient Egypt and Ancient Greece. He spent a lot of his time with these two nations, loving them, caring for them, and sometimes being a jerk to them. He was infatuated with them, and this translated in him adopting cultural practices of both nations into his own. He has a lot of history with Germania, and he considers the other nation his best friend in hetalia canon. Germania used to work with Rome, but they've also fought and hurt each other throughout the years. Even with their history, he's seen as easy going and very friendly towards Germania, often making fun of him and teasing him in a friendly manner.

Overall Rome has two sides of him. There is the fighter who is powerful, conquering lands and spreading Roman ideology. He's strong, and a little bit greedy to say the least. He's the type to work hard in a fight and party even harder when it's time to celebrate. On the other hand, in more intimate situations with friendly and relatives, he is a down to earth father figure his former underlings known him as in present day Europe. While not always the kindest, he really thought the Roman way would help other nations under his wing grow and under him and become powerful.

Abilities: Since he is a nation, and a very powerful one in his time, Rome has super strength and endurance. He cannot die by normal/human circumstances such as being shot in the head like other nations depicted in the Hetalia canon.

Age: 17
Canon: Higurashi no Naku Koro ni
Canon Point: Post Minagoroshi-hen
Species: Human (with oni lineage)
Gender: Female
Orientation: Heterosexual, most likely. She's only ever been seen having an interest in boys, namely her blatant crush on Keiichi, which is canon.

History: doop
Appearance: cutie patootie

envyspites: (hungry hungry hippos.)

[personal profile] envyspites 2012-10-01 08:51 am (UTC)(link)
Personality:
Mion is basically presented as a boisterous tomboy. She's stronger than she looks, is full of seemingly boundless energy, and lives to put her friends in embarrassing costumes for laughs. She's competitive to an absurd degree, in that she views card games as a life or death type of thing. Mion's incredibly sneaky and smart, knowing what exactly what to say and when to say it, and she can analyze things with an amount of insight not befitting a 17-year-old. Her sense of humor is ridiculously perverted and just plain old odd, to boot. Sticking her male best friend in a maid costume? Best time ever. She refers to herself not with a standard "I" pronoun, but "ojiisan"--meaning "old man." And her "winning strategies" are notably all corrupt, like playing with a deck she memorized or using verbal persuasion on the opponent. She takes Refuge In Audacity to a whole new level, like telling someone that they will have a stroke eventually, while wearing a cheery face. Every other thing she says is some level of "EXTREMELY INAPPROPRIATE."

If there's one thing Mion can get over the top about, though, it's pride. She has an overly large amount of pride for both her village and her family. She has no problem (ironically) calling herself the greatest at various things. She was one of the strongest supporters of the anti-dam construction movement, and even got briefly jailed for her violet actions as a protester. Being a Sonozaki by blood, she's said to be an oni, a demonic ogreish creature that supposedly crawled out of the Onigafuchi swamp before Hinamizawa was officially established. A normal person might protest this label. Who wants to get called an ogre, after all? Mion, however, does not mind, and even actively embraces her supposed demonic lineage.

The Sonozakis are basically the only ones left standing strong of the former three great families of Hinamizawa, and when you are set up to one day become the leader of a clan that single-handedly supplies their village with weaponry and defense...you will be conditioned to that kinda stuff. Mion's an expert with firearms and fighting, and you really don't want to get into a skirmish with her. She's too used to the macabre and creepy, so not much actually scares her. Even when not serious, she's stupidly physical and likes rough-housing with everyone, pulling and pushing her friends around. In a way, she doesn't grasp the concept of personal space too easily. She likes to spook people for fun, too.

Despite her generally carefree attitude, Mion gets serious when the mood requires it. She knows dealing with the village's relations are no laughing matter, and treats all related duties with a composed and professional face. Her internal attitude is not the jokester she normally is, and she's protective of those she loves to ludicrous degrees, outright telling the Yamainu group who were hunting down the Hinamizawans  "Waste your bullets on me, but if you hurt one of my friends, you'll face a fate worse than hell!" She's willing to put her friends' needs above her own, as shown in the above quote as well as in Onikakushi-hen, where she believed Rena and Keiichi had a thing for each other, and started shipping them despite her own feeling for the latter. Mion is well-intentioned, even through her less than savory actions, such as keeping village secrets and information away from her friends, thinking they're better off not knowing the "horrible truths."

Mion is very, very strong, as well as very stubborn. She is the pillar of strength connecting the main characters, and by far she is the most mentally stable. Whereas most of her friends end up brutally murdering someone throughout the course of the series, she's predominately shown to always be in a position of sanity. It's been said she's killed out of jealousy in other kakera, and she briefly considered murdering her grandma for making the village shun the Houjou family to the point of actual abuse (Mion was close friends with the Houjou's two children), but overall you can pretty much count on her to keep a cool head and not go laughing mad on your ass, despite the rampant hate plague that affected virtually everyone else. The only down side to this is that Mion is too used to being a leader--she always takes the reigns and generally shows discomfort when not being the one in charge, cementing her as "rebellious" under other's orders.

Mion has a bond with her twin sister that is generally the stereotypical "deep twin bond" you see in media. Mion goes to her to talk, for advice, and will cry onto her shoulder. But Shion has the potential to completely go off the deep end, as she did in Watanagashi-hen and Meakashi-hen. Relying on an unstable, broken person has its consequences, which is just what happened to her in said arcs, while Shion was under the effects of the aforementioned hate plague.

Inside, her insecurities are greater than she's willing to admit. "Awkward teenage girl" would describe that side of her, as she's unable to properly interpret physical affection and sincere compliments. Despite her generally lecherous mind, when it comes down to actual sexual things, she can turn into a massive prude, blushing and blubbering like an idiot. Because of the high standards pushed on her from a young age, she has a very difficult time telling people how she feels, or saying "hard" things. She tends to let her feelings bottle up and bottle up until the pressure gets much too great. She wants to dress girly, and be treated like a girl instead of just "some roughhousing kid" or "one of the guys" but she's far too shy to actually admit that.

Abilites:
Mion is gifted with super-strength. This is basically a Charles Atlas Superpower in-universe. Her level of strength is not unheard of in a human being, but it's certainly odd that a teenage girl can overpower a group of military-trained armed adult men with nothing but her bare hands. This is most likely due to her oni ancestry, as as far as the legends go, oni were said to be the strongest of the strong. She can also hold her booze magnificently well. The oni are drinkers.

She's also fairly good at cooking, sewing/making clothes, and being a jackass.

IC INFORMATION
Characters Name: Byakuya Togami
Age: 16 (presumably)
Canon: Dangan Ronpa
Canon Point: Post-Chapter Five / Update #111
Species: Human
Gender: Male
Orientation: Presumably straight; we have no evidence otherwise, and there's the infamous Bad End to take into account (SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS) where the game is abandoned and he and two others have kids with Aoi. Mostly he's too busy hating everyone anyway. His standards are miles too high... and everyone else will probably be far too sane to consider him in return. Says a lot about Dangan Ronpa's cast that it contains one that isn't.

History: All members of Dangan Ronpa's cast are 'Super-High School Level 's, where Byakuya is the 'Super-High School Level Heir'. Specifically, he is the heir of the Togami family, a vastly rich and powerful conglomerate that is one of the major mover and shakers in the 'shadow world' that secretly manipulates all the world governments (yes, seriously). This is not to say Togami was simply born into the position; he has excelled in it, and takes implications that was simply 'lucky' as very severe insults*.

In any case, this position lead him to be invited into the 'Super High School' Hope's Peak Private Academy, an invitation-only school whose graduates are allegedly guaranteed success. Of course, not all is at it seems, and like 14 other would-be students, he is kidnapped by the sadistic 'Monobear' to play a cruel murder game where they are trapped in the Hope Academy building, and must kill one of their fellow students, then successfully get away with it in a School Trail to 'graduate' and leave. Being caught as the culprit results in execution. Failing to catch the culprit results in the execution of everyone else. This is the 'Despair Game' Togami finds himself in, instead of his guaranteed success in Hope's Peak Academy.

And the little shit enjoys himself. At first, anyway...

Appearance:

Personality: ...Hahahahahaha. Right.

Though Togami is entered as the Super High School Level Heir, he could be just as equally entered as the Super High School Level Jerkface. He is arrogant beyond belief, never so much as considers the possibility he might be wrong or that the game might result in his death, and has absolutely no fear nor care for those around him. When blocked by a furious Super High School Level Gang Leader with every intent of caving in his face, his response is 'Get out of my way, plankton.' When Naegi first talks to him, he spends most of the conversation ignoring him, before bluntly telling him his name, calling him an eyesore and ordering him to leave. When the others instate their own informal rules and gatherings, he completely ignores them to do his own thing. He's... just a jackass. A completely arrogant jackass.

(We are now entering SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS territory again, by the way)

When I say he's lacking in empathy, I'm really not kidding. At the second murder, he quite deliberately tampers with the crime scene to implicate Genocider Syo as the culprit after her alternate persona confesses to him in private, simply because he'd seen the real culprit leave the murder room and thought the trail would be too boring. He absolutely hates wasting time, and... well, other people are always a waste of time...

Having read various top-secret police files through his status as the Heir of the Togami clan, he fancies himself quite the detective, and whilst he often assists in the post-murder investigation (he has no belief he will deduce the the wrong culprit, but he still makes thorough investigations; Byakuya does his work, it's just he has unrealistic expectations of his end results), he often keeps cards to himself, either so he can grandly reveal them in court or to test the other would-be detectives. And then Kirigiri and Naegi upstage him anyway, but we're getting off topic.

His completely domineering and arrogant personality manages to earn him the entirely unwanted attentions of Touko, the less-murderous split personality of Genocider Syo (naturally, it would take a completely insane person to fall in love with him in the first place), something he abhors to the point of, as noted earlier, exposing her in a trial and implicating her as the culprit purely for kicks (to be fair, Touko/Syo are just as bad in their insistence of their/his 'devotion', and all the men Syo has murdered were those that Touko were infatuated with. Frankly they deserve each other). Touko has vowed - or more like 'decided' - to obey all of his whims... the first of which was to 'keep her mouth shut'. She kept this up in the face of not eating or drinking; something Byakuya completely failed to notice, care or be bothered to amend after it is pointed out (Touko survives by assuming the order only lasted a day, if you were wondering. It didn't.).

That said, Byakuya is not completely hopeless. A lot of his hostility is because he - quite openly - has every intention of winning the game for his own survival; of killing one of the students and graduating, refusing to cooperate with the others as he considers them impossible to trust and stating his reason for playing as 'because it is interesting' (he takes his victory for granted). This earns him a comment from Monobear that they are very much alike, something Togami is considerably unhappy about. His reasoning however is notably solid; they are all strangers, they do not know each other, they cannot guarantee none of them can be pushed into killing others to escape, especially when Monobear starts dropping 'motives' to encourage them; pointing out that they cannot judge the motivations of others by their own standards (ironically; see below).

Finally, after the complete rollercoaster mess of the fourth trial, he chooses to retire from the game (claiming that the remaining students are too united to kill each other so there's no point), instead choosing to focus on exposing the 'mastermind' running behind it (it should be noted Monobear is a remote controlled robot; the 'mastermind' is his operator). Doesn't stop him from using Naegi as a living bomb detector under the not-very-thick guise of 'entrusting him with tasks' afterwards though. Touko and Naegi are the main people he interacts with; Touko because he has little choice in the matter; frequently asking her, quite bluntly, to just die already; and Naegi because he solves all the mysteries in the Trials and so has a modicum of his respect (Kirigiri, the other main trial solver, he distrusts because she disappears so much). The others he largely considers worthless idiots. This... is unlikely to change in Holly Heights, though the lack of a murder game being involved will at least make him less actively hostile.

Abilites: Assuming 'Ego the size of Mars' doesn't count, Byakuya entered Hope Academy under his title as 'Super High School Level Heir'. This is not to say he simply had the good fortune to be born into his position; he has been raised and educated for it, and once made millions on the stock market in a single day (then quit out of boredom). Basically, if it does not involve athletics or actual human interaction and feelings, Byakuya excels at it. If it involves emotions and empathy, he's outright counter-productive. Whilst he often finds clues or makes intelligent logical deductions everyone short of Kirigiri miss, he completely fails to take into account the human element, believing everyone to be working under the motivation to win the game and graduate (this after beating it into everyone else's heads not to assume everyone else will think the same way they do); he utterly neglects the possibility of Sakura's death being suicide, for example. He is also the main person to spot loopholes (often intentional, for the sake of making murder easier) in Monobear's rules.

Other: We have not yet had the full details of Togami's backstory in Dangan Ronpa yet. For one thing, he must both have something Monobear could threaten him with, and some dark secret he would not want Monobear to expose, as these were two of the motives Monobear dropped on everyone (assuming they were 'joke' threats, similar to Naegi's 'wet the bed until fifth grade'). We know saying he was 'born into' his position is an extremely sore spot for him, however; whether this is because he has had to prove himself or is because of something more outlandish - like adoption or being a test-tube baby - (or just his massive ego hating the idea he didn't do anything to achieve his status) is currently unknown. It's highly, highly likely to be important in some way though; we'll see.

Personally, I hope it turns out he is literally a bastard. That would just be too perfect.

SAMPLES
First Person: [the screen turns on to reveal a cold-faced boy with glasses, glaring down at the screen like it's wasting his time]

If you know who I am, contact me. That is all.

[...well that was short. The message ends immediately. He has an investigation to persue after all.]

Third Person:

Another inexplicable awakening in an unfamiliar place. Well wasn't that wonderful. He could see the sky, assuming it wasn't an illusion, but was he really free? And waking up on a lawn probably wrecked his suit. Keh.

Flipping through the documents only to discard them a few seconds later, Byakuya just sighed with even more irritation. Honestly, what was the point of all this. Was keeping everyone in one place really so terrible? He'd re-examine the paperwork for loopholes later, more important now was to find out where on the American continent - because where else could it be - he was, then leave.

Then burn Hope's Peak Academy down to the ground. Get out of that you sadistic 'mastermind'.

OTHER
Housing Request?: None. I'd say 'put him in with people that would really annoy him' but that's practically guaranteed anyway.
Did you read the rules and FAQ?: And found all the loopholes.
Would you like your application to be unscreened?: THE TRUTH MUST BE EXPOSED.

Canon: APH: Switzerland wiki
Canon Point: Modern Day, October 2012
Species: Personified Country
Gender: Male
Orientation: Unknown. While he’s been around for over 700 years, he’s shown very little interest one way or another with regards to sexuality. He’s simply been too ‘work’ or ‘duty’ oriented to consider anything outside of that mentality. It’s something that, now that he doesn’t have his country to actively protect, he can eventually start to realize is out there for exploration. Albeit grudgingly! As far as the marriage goes - I'd say he'd be fine with either male or female given his lack of overall consideration for it.

Early history ( Summarized via Himaruya):

Austria's first predecessor states were, interestingly, in modern Swiss territory. The Habsburg castle, which was the seat of the Habsburg dynasty, is located in Northern Switzerland rather than Austria. At first the two would-be countries cooperated well. Then the would-be Switzerland, for good reasons, revolted against Hapsburg intervention in its affairs. Among the chaos the Habsburgs understandably hastened to move their seat to modern Austria.

During the Austro-Swiss partnership, Austria granted the region military protection in exchange for Swiss allegiance. Though they both lay in the Holy Roman Empire, they were regarded as two separate entities. The then head of the Habsburgs were loved among the Swiss - like "we'd go to any length to serve him."

But the honeymoon was soon over.

The new man on the Austrian throne proclaimed, "Switzerland is my territory. Therefore the same tax laws apply." Thus, Switzerland fell under Austrian control. Austria even started appointing Vogts to govern Switzerland. (Remember, they were supposed to be separate entities.) That marked the end of the Austro-Swiss partnership.

Wilhelm Tell, a Swiss hunter, was demanded by the Habsburg-appointed Vogt, Gessler, to shoot an apple off the head of his son. He succeeded in spite of tremendous mental strife, and went on to shoot Gessler himself.

It was clear that Austria and Switzerland couldn't go back where they were. Switzerland now sought independence. Several cantons formed the "Confoederatio Helvetica", and challenged Austrian rule with their new army. (The place where the canton representatives took their oaths is still a tourist attraction.)

The Swiss army was nothing more than a bunch of farmers hastily donned in armors and equipped with swords. Nobody would have expected them to stand any chance against Austria's professionals.

But the Swiss army won devastating victories against the Austrian knights. The Swiss took advantage of their terrain and hurled huge rocks onto the enemy. The Austrians, taken aback by such Indiana Jones-like tactics, had to face defeat.

After winning its independence, Switzerland was plagued by its lack of natural resources, the low quality of its top soil, and the mountainous terrain which made agriculture almost impossible. Switzerland had to import raw material and export manufactured goods. Its men served for centuries as mercenaries. Through amazing efforts Switzerland, neighbored on all sides by great powers, made a living out of almost nothing.

In order to protect its permanent neutrality, Switzerland would shoot down any planes that flew over, Allied or Axis. What's more, Swiss postal workers are also all soldiers in the army, and carry special post office guns.

Actual Historical Info

Appearance: HERE and HERE

He’s rather short for a Germanic nation, standing at an unimposing 5’6”, but don’t let the lack of height fool you! His bearing more than makes up for the rather average vertical reach. He’s got dark, sandy-blond hair cropped in a chin-length bob with a fringe of bangs across his forehead and vivid green eyes.

He’s usually seen wearing a white beret with a simple white long-sleeve button up shirt hidden beneath his forest green jacket limned in black at the collar and cuffs to match the calf-high black boots. He tends to wear a camouflage weather coat over this on occasion.

He has a cross shaped scar on his left shoulder, though it’s not clear which particular fight it represents.

[personal profile] neutralmerc 2012-10-02 03:41 am (UTC)(link)
Personality: At first glance, Switzerland can seem standoffish to the point of being blatantly rude, disinterested, opinionated, and unapologetically blunt in all matters - and he really is. However upon closer inspection, it’s clear that there’s so much more to him than first impressions.

It is true that he values his privacy, but much like protecting his borders, he’s worked hard to establish himself as a neutral party despite being a small nation literally surrounded by major world powers - his intention for being so steadfast in being aloof is simply a matter of self-preservation. Action long ingrained into habit in order to keep his house in order and protect his people in accordance to his own sense of justice. And yet, it’s this same sense of justice that, when he came across a sickly Liechtenstein, prompted him to pick her up, adopt her, and not only nurse her back to health but to protect her even after she was stable once again.

Unlike other nations, it was this sense of justice rather than a desire for control over either her or her lands - or the need to increase his power and influence in the world order - that had him stepping into the rare role of an 'equal guardian' for her. Protect her, teach her (ie constantly lecture), but always respect her own sovernity. They were and have always remained equals with a mutually beneficial relationship. In this way he makes clear that he has definite views of how people should treat each other - views that he’s maintained since he was a young nation, as evidenced with the way he spent his youth both picking Austria up and lecturing him to act less recklessly, to become stronger, and following him around to be sure he was safe.

He simply believes that the strong should use their strength to protect their own lands first and to treat others with decency and respect rather than an intent to control or dominate. That helping someone when they’re down and out is the right things to do, and not for personal gain - and if you have to tighten your own belt for a little bit to do it, then so be it.

Just be mindful of how you spend your resources and take responsibility for how they’re managed in order to make them last while doing so. Which also brings up his frugal nature. Because he knows the pains of having such a tenuous and uncertain beginning, and the struggle to establish a sustainable independance, Switzerland is always cognizant of the need to spend money and resources with caution and prudence - not to the extent of oppressing his people under the weight of greedy taxation, but if the choice is the expensive brand name or a generic that tastes just as good? He’s buying the generic, hands down.

He is absolutely unapologetic in voicing his opinion when he needs to - or encouraging others (like Japan) to step up and form their own opinions as well. This is especially important for smaller nations if they want to be heard and listen to with respect from the larger idiots that are always squabbling. It’s a means of survival that, over the years, has helped to establish his neutrality because when he says absolutely no one is authorized to cross neutral borders, he means no one - regardless of alliances outside his borders. Therefore it’s better to say what you mean, and absolutely mean what you say in the clearest, most unmistakable manner possible and if it comes off as curt or rude, well, at least they know where you stand without question, right?

It’s much the same with his seeming disinterest in others affairs - because if anything, it’s quite the opposite. He’s actually got quite the extensive intelligence monitoring program in place. And the reason is simple: In order to stay on top of what the larger, squabbling idiots are up to, he’ll watch and he’ll listen all so he can be better prepared to turn them aside at his borders when they move from posturing to action against each other.

And all of this reveals a deeper, more complex person. He does have compassion, despite his cool exterior and for those that he accepts into his close circle of important people, he offers a surprising yet gruff wealth of sincerity, support, and strength - he’s a protector that pushes them always to stand strongly on their own two feet. He has a definite love for music and art and the beauty found in nature and, if given the opportunity to relax his guard, would much rather spend his free time out under the open skies with his sister or Austria though he refuses to acknowledge that point anymore than anything else.

And yet.

He absolutely will not hesitate to take up arms at a moment’s notice to defend what’s his - or his sister’s - so don't forget it.

Abilites: As the personification of a nation that has spent centuries as a mercenary followed by a rigid defense of his own hard-won borders, Switzerland has become the epitomie of a soldier through and through. So while it’s not impossible to kill him (nations can fall, even neutral ones) he’ll make it pretty damn hard to kill him. Aside from that, he’s fairly close to immortal - alive so long as his lands survive.
