IC INFORMATION
Character's Name: Klavier Gavin
Age: 24
Canon: Ace Attorney: Apollo Justice
Canon Point:
Species: Human
Gender: Male
Orientation: Heterosexual; Klavier is an avid flirter, and has even said himself that he prefers women. When asked why he joined a band, he answered with:

❝Because I want women to turn and look when I walk down the street.❞

History: Here's his wiki page on the Ace Attorney wikipedia.

Klavier is the younger brother of Kristoph Gavin, and former lead singer of The Gavinners. However, he admits his true passion is his prosecuting career. He trained in his home country, Germany, until he was able to take on the renowned Phoenix Wright in court for the trial of Zak Gramarye. His brother told him Phoenix was going to forge evidence, and so Klavier called him out. As a result, Phoenix's attorney badge was evicted and he could no longer practice law. He never knew how Kristoph came across this knowledge, but he didn't question it for the next seven years.
Appearance: Here!
Personality: Honest and friendly, Klavier easily charms those he meets, an example being Trucy Wright's interest in him after just barely talking to him. She even calls him a prince, which is hardly a false title, considering how popular he is.

However, he can be snide without realizing it at times, especially towards Apollo. He means well, but it may seem like he rubs things in the latter's face sometimes, or even outright brags or boasts about them. He's immature, but with well-meaning intentions.

Even with his easygoing, breezy attitude, he's an acute perfectionist when it comes to his music. Though he only considers his band a hobby, he still gets understandably angry if they mess up. He scolded his fellow bandmate, Daryan, for being late on his cue and barely let it go at one of their concerts. When things don't go the way he wants them to, he whines and complains to no end.

Despite his childishness, fame, fortune, and success, Klavier is a pretty down-to-earth sort of guy. He speaks multiple languages and has visited all around the world. With a soft spot for music, he wept when he heard Lamiroir, a foreign singer, in a restaurant one night and couldn't bring himself to leave until he was able to sing with her. He's also hard to upset, unless you really try hard. He may be a whiny baby about things not going his way, but it's justifiable since it doesn't happen all too often.

Unlike the majority of prosecutors in the game, he seeks not to "win" his cases, but to find out the truth and convict the correct criminal. This would be the reason why he tells Apollo that he'd prefer sharing evidence with him more than hiding it and using it against him in court because it's more civil as well as the right thing to do.

He even chose to go against his closest friend since his brother was convicted of murder in court due to all of the evidence going against him. It would have been much easier for him to deny this, as was his band member, friend on the police force, and even almost like a replacement brother, in a way.

❝There are no sides in a court of law.❞

Abilities: He can play the guitar and sing. He was also the smartest in college - graduating and passing the prosecutor's test at 17, he was deemed genius by many.

IC INFORMATION
Characters Name: Kazuichi Souda
Age: 18
Canon: Dangan Ronpa
Canon Point: End of Chapter 2
Species: Human
Gender: Male
Orientation: Heterosexual. He only ever expresses interest in women, and that interest is expressed pretty frequently.

History:
Here is a summary of the entire game.

In addition, from his free time events, we learn that Souda came from a poor family and was often bullied and excluded because of it. He avoided all of his class trips, as well, and was beaten by his father for staying home. Souda never had any friends in school, except for one who he later found out was using him to get better grades, and who he was eventually betrayed by. He completely changed his image in the hopes that it would make others accept him.

Appearance:
Here!

Personality:
Souda was once a shy, quiet kid focused on his grades and his interest in mechanics. He wasn’t outgoing enough to really make friends, and most of the people who knew him bullied him anyways. After the one person he thought was his friend betrayed him, he decided to reinvent himself in a way that he hoped would make him more popular. In addition to changing his style looks-wise, he became more talkative, social, and assertive. However, he didn’t manage to change himself completely and underneath the façade his old self still remains – sometimes pretty obviously. While he talks to others frequently and at first just seems to be a friendly, laid-back guy, he is awkward when it comes to many types of interaction and often says something inappropriate or something that just makes him look clueless. He doesn’t really take hints or respond to social cues that well, which sometimes just makes him look awkward and other times makes people uncomfortable. And, while he tries to be assertive and sometimes aggressive, he’s easily upset by confrontation and usually ends up either begging for forgiveness or running away if he gets in over his head.

Along with his lack of social awareness, Souda is not a good liar and is about as subtle as a brick to the face. He tries to lie, but gets visibly nervous if anyone even remotely alludes to the topic he was lying about and ends up getting himself caught. He’s also very emotionally expressive and is not good at hiding it. It’s always pretty obvious what mood he’s in at any given time, even if he tries to say otherwise. In both friendships and (attempted) romantic relationships, he can be a little too forward and enthusiastic to the point where it’s off-putting, and though he can seem pretty relaxed in some situations – even situations where others are wary, such as being brought to Jabberwock Island in the first place - it doesn’t take much to get a big reaction out of him.

Souda is very opinionated on the subject of trust. Due to his previous friend’s betrayal, he’s inclined to be suspicious and accuse people of lying. During trials, he tends to question what the others say and is often the one to point out that someone might not be telling the truth. Once the mutual killing starts, he’s afraid that anyone could be out to kill him and thus tries to avoid interaction with others for a while (it doesn’t help that certain people and robotic bears constantly make jokes about his demise). Despite his initial wariness, those who are kind to him or make somewhat of an effort to befriend him can gain his trust pretty easily and once they do he is very clingy but also quite loyal. Even if his eagerness can be grating at times, he’s also someone who keeps his promises, genuinely tries to be a good friend, and wouldn’t betray his friends because he knows how badly betrayal hurts.

Due to his attempts at a more aggressive personality and his lack of social skills, he can sometimes come off as rude or insulting – usually unintentionally. He can come off as inconsiderate, too, but it’s often because he’s unaware that someone doesn’t like what he’s doing (though he’s no saint; he’s willing to push people if he thinks he can get away with it). He tries to be thoughtful and helpful in his own way, too, and makes an effort to use his mechanical expertise to help the others on the island as much as he can despite the fact that nearly everything about the situation terrifies him.

He is intelligent (despite not always acting like it), though he’s definite book smart rather than street smart. He enjoys learning new things and is curious about how things work, though he might devote a little too much of his time to machines (but if he didn’t, he probably wouldn’t be the Super High School Level Mechanic). He has an extremely in-depth knowledge of mechanics and is able to improvise well, too, taking the knowledge he’s gained already and applying is successfully to machines he hasn’t yet worked on. He seems to have a very good memory for details as well, and is able to know something inside-and-out if he’s passionate enough about it.

Abilities:
As he’s the Super High School Level Mechanic, he can build, repair, or modify a large variety of machines and electronics.

Uzume Amai | Itsuwaribito Utsuho | reserved p2

[personal profile] uzumerorin 2013-08-01 02:39 pm (UTC)(link)
History: Itsuwaribito Utsuho wikia | Uzume | character profile
Appearance: He was born with black hair, but due to trauma, his hair turned white. He keeps it short. He’s got a cute face, and he draws marks onto his cheeks. He used to do it with blood, but now he does it with some sort of unspecified makeup. Due to being badly mistreated as a child, and being a warrior and outlaw later on, his body is covered in big and small scars. He is 175.5 cm tall, and he has light yellow-ish brown eyes. And a picture!
Personality: Uzume is playful and has a bright personality, and most of the time, he can be seen smiling happily. He's easy to make happy, as he is quite the simple young man, but he’s also easy to upset. He's a person who is very honest about his feelings. When he's happy, everyone around him knows it, and when he's upset, it doesn't go unnoticed. But he's not honest with just his feelings, but his mind too. He will tell you anything, and he often tells people secrets he's supposed to keep on accident. An example of this is when Utsuho tells him that "I know what you're planning!", and he reacts in shock, revealing the entire plan in the process. It even surprised Utsuho, who is an itsuwaribito, how easy he was to trick.

While his personality is bright, his head is not. Uzume is, frankly put, very stupid. He is easy to fool, and will believe anything you say, no matter what it might be. He also likes using big words, and idioms, since Kuroha likes them, and he heard Kuroha speak them while he was being taught. The problem is, he uses them wrong, making people confused. He also says a lot of wrong words at times when it really should be quite easy to get it right. There are times when he says steep instead of speed, and plain spite instead of plain sight. This is because he was very late to learn how to speak, since he was treated like a monster, and monsters didn't speak after all.

Having been treated like a monster, as filth his entire life before, Uzume came to hate people, and think that they were only there to break. He hated everyone, and so he killed them. He didn't give them chances for them to get him to like them, because default was for them to try to stomp his heart to the ground. So before he gave them the chance to say anything, he killed them. He did however, find people who were kind to him, people he started to care for. Those people were Kuroha, Chouza and later on, Minamo. But thanks to the words of Utsuho, he starts to believe that he's worth more than he thought he was (which was nothing), and he starts to think a little better about himself. Utsuho's words starts to change his view on humans, and now, he has sworn never to kill again, having removed the kama from his sansetsukon, to make sure his weapon isn’t as dangerous and deadly. He has grown a lot, and now, he doesn’t instantly think of killing people. While he does beat people up, he doesn’t kill them. He’s grown to like Utsuho and his gang, and after Kuroha and Saiha’s death, he, Chouza and Minamo started to travel with them. He has sworn that he is going to fulfill Kuroha’s dream to gather the Kokonotsu treasures, and together with Utsuho and his friends, he has managed to do that, though only one treasure is actually his.

Uzume might be stupid, but he isn't weak. In fact, his fighting skills are top class, and it makes up for his lack of brains. He is a strong and confident fighter, and knows how to handle his weapon. But while he can be deadly, he is a sweet boy a lot of the time, and there are times where he acts like a spoilt child. He also gets terribly lonely, like a child, where he wants wants to be spoiled and taken care of, and if he's down, he wants to be pampered by others (mostly Chouza, whom he holds very dear). He acts on his feelings, and that might get him into tricky situations at times, but if it's a fight, it won't be as bad as a situation that calls for brain power. When Uzume is told to use his head, he doesn't get that the person means his brain, but he actually uses his head. An example is when he's told this, but instead headbutts his opponent.

When it comes to his most precious people, and seeing them badly hurt, Uzume will flip. Upon seeing Chouza seemingly dead, he goes berserk, and even though he has sworn never to kill again, when berserk, he will forget that promise completely. He doesn’t want to lose someone so dear to him, that he will do anything to get to the one who hurt them. Only seeing Chouza (and possibly Minamo, but this far, she hasn’t been that near death) dying can bring that unstoppable rage out. When Saiha and Kuroha died, he managed to stay calm enough to listen to Utsuho’s directions on how to avoid Iriya’s tricks and traps, to ultimately kill Iriya. After that fight, he swore not to kill anyone, but if Chouza and Minamo are dying, he will forget all about that.

Abilities: Uzume is a very strong human. Otherwise n/a.
Other: Uzume can't count. And he sucks at reading and writing.

IC INFORMATION
Characters Name: Hubert Oswell
Age: 18; stated to be 17 at the beginning on the main arc, which is six months long, and his canon point is after a six month time skip from that, making a whole year to have passed.
Canon: Tales of Graces; canon;
Canon Point: Post Lineage & Legacies
Species: Human
Gender: Male
Orientation: Heterosexual, or leaning very much so towards it.. He does have a canon female love interest he expresses interest in marrying.

History: Here!
Appearance: Here!
Personality:
If there was only one word that would be used by the general populace about Hubert, pragmatic would likely be it. He’s the sort of person who relies heavily on reason and rationality; strategy, whether on the battlefield or off, are all a major part of his general approach when it comes to life. For some, that may seem to be a bit one-note, but when it comes to Hubert Oswell, it’s something of a core facet that manages to deepen the other nuances of his character.

As a child, he’d have been seen as markedly different -- very few traits seem very similar, in fact. Hubert was far more shy and withdrawn, especially compared with older brother Asbel. But to further that, he was something of a “scaredy-cat.” Doing something that was against their parents’ wishes definitely set Hubert on edge, as did fighting the monsters they would come across in doing so. His victory quotes reflected this well enough post-battles, displaying his fear or surprise at said successes. But though he had those veils that surrounded him, he was undoubtedly able to look at the bigger picture and see what did (or didn’t) make sense, often using that as guidelines for Asbel. There was little he could do to actually rein Asbel in (“I’m 11 years old, I go where I want!!” isn’t something Asbel was afraid to assert on these adventures), but his superior intelligence was something that came in handy in those situations.

Hubert’s intelligence was something that was certainly unmatched among peers, noted often enough -- whether about random topics, like the flowers on Lhant Hill, or nearly anything else that crossed their path, he knew what was up. For ten years old, his wit about things was advanced. But save for those things, one of Hubert’s most noticeable traits was his awareness of other people’s feelings and how much he did care about them. He wasn’t necessarily the best as expressing those things, but his actions dictated well enough that his family and friends were important to him. Whether it was looking out for reckless and headstrong Asbel, or trying to look out for ill Cheria in his own ways, Hubert’s care for those around him was clear. Of course, also being something of a massive worry-wart, it’s doubtful it wasn’t well known to those around him.

This is why the more adult Hubert Oswell appears to be so vastly different than the child who left Lhant seven years prior. The time leading into his adoption to the Oswell family changed his perspective. Starting with that news, immediately followed by the tragic apparent death of a friend and subsequently leaving his family and everything he’s ever known for Strahta, it was unavoidable. His shy and withdrawn, nervous tendencies were quickly forced away by his newly adoptive father. But in doing that, so much else had changed along the way.

[personal profile] regimenting 2013-08-01 03:59 pm (UTC)(link)
(personality con't)

Helplessness had taken hold; he hadn’t been able to help before leaving, and he couldn’t do anything to prevent his adoption. Time and lack of answers caused plenty of unspoken feelings -- bitterness and resentment towards his parents for sending him away being among them. It may have always been clear that Aston intended for Asbel to be the heir to Lhant, but this, for Hubert, was even lower than being second. Something after this brought out the motivation to never be second best again; he came to embrace his new situation and adoptive family. It helped, of course, that in spite of his own motivations and agendas, Garrett Oswell treated Hubert well. Stern, perhaps, but as one of his own and it was this sort of guidance that allowed Hubert to become a lieutenant in Strahta’s military by the age of seventeen. No longer a meek, scared boy, he became capable of not only combat with a sense of skill and finesse, but also able to command troops efficiently. It’s clear from start to finish that he’s greatly respected, not only by his subordinates, but his peers in the military as well as President Paradine, the ruler of Strahta.

His book smarts never left, but rather than fear the battlefield, he learned to become part of it, even coming up with his own, non-standard weaponry and artes to accompany it. His defenses may not be the strongest, but he makes up for it in speed and strength, where he excels greatly.

It’s not until his biological father, Aston, is slain in battle that Hubert returns to Lhant. In part, it is to aid their efforts, but there were political motivations beyond that that aided in him being brought there. But the Hubert Oswell who returns to Lhant almost seems like a shell of who he was; the same face, but a different personality. He is seemingly fearless, both on the battlefield and with his words. After bailing Asbel out and pushing back Fendel’s forces from an invasion, his words have bite. Scathing and outspoken, he appears cold not only to Asbel, but to his own mother. His duties to Lhant come as obligation from how he speaks. There is sarcasm, and a no-nonsense policy. Fully (and perhaps rightfully) believing that Asbel is not worthy or ready to be the Lord of Lhant, he challenges his older brother to a battle. Clearly overpowering him, he does exactly what one wouldn’t expect a brother to do: He exiles Asbel from Lhant and takes control of the territory. Bullshit isn’t something he tolerates, whether it’s his brother, adoptive cousin Raymond -- or even Garrett Oswell himself. He doesn’t tolerate it, and he’s not afraid to say that or turn the tables in his favor if need be.

His walls stay up, and they stay up high for as long as it’s possible. Even when it comes to family, it’s not until the situation becomes dire that he even begins to falter. With the livelihood of Lhant, Windor -- and soon enough, Strahta, all at risk, it’s only then that he lets Asbel have even a sliver of his trust. Of course, that’s the start of breaching his barriers and seeing what else he’s made of, but that doesn’t meant he allows anyone at all to be trusted easily. While Asbel slowly earns it, and both Cheria and Sophie never really have to work for it at all, there are two wild cards. Malik and Pascal are strangers to him, mysterious in their own ways and both raising flags of suspicion for him. He even goes as far as accusing Pascal of hiding her origins, though it was for naught, as she claimed that nobody had bothered to ask. It’s the sort of insolence that infuriates him, but can acknowledge at least a bit of correctness in it. It’s really not until he’s saved from danger that he begins to have a change of heart; the fact that they’d done so even after how he treated them served as something of a sign that they were worthy of his trust -- and even a bit of camaraderie.

His demeanor is generally considered to be composed and dignified in addition to being authoritative, and he does his absolute best to uphold that ruse.

But underneath all of that, the traces of young Hubert haven’t faded completely. Even with bitter feelings, cynicism, and the many other more serious sides to him -- he still cares deeply for those around him. Even though he’s not very good at expressing his various feelings, they exist. Little baby Hubert grew up to be a tsundere at his finest.

There are some things he’s decent at being overt with: Asking Cheria if anything happened between her and Asbel yet made it clear that he was aware of her feelings, and he had little shame in asking. But direct displays of care are something far more easily masked -- such as when he asked Asbel to fight him in the Strahta Desert en route to Fendel. Upon Asbel’s win, he stated it was to “test the limits” of Asbel’s power in order to protect Strahta. The ruse isn’t believed by Malik, though, and he calls out the real reason for it: To protect Asbel’s pride. Having defeated his older brother once before, it was an opportunity for Hubert to lose on purpose to even the scales between them. Roundabout is certainly the name of the game when it comes to showing how he cares, but the efforts don’t go unnoticed.

Later on, his ways of caring actually causes a bit of a turning point in his development. Seeing Pascal have a bit of a scuffle with her jealous older sister, he finds himself able to commiserate with her situation. For the first time since they’d met, he found himself able to actually relate to Pascal, and then used that understanding of sibling squabbles to comfort her (and become friends, though he claims he didn’t agree to that). Following that point, despite all of his frustrations with her, it’s made pretty clear that he’s begun to develop romantic feelings for her. This doesn’t become nearly as prominent until Lineage & Legacies, but the course of time shows his care coming out in different ways, despite how often he finds himself both frustrated and exasperated with Pascal’s actions. That, in conjunction with the way she saved him on Mt Zavhert seem to breach his walls at tug at his feelings a lot more than he would have expected.

He’s pretty good at denying them... for a while. Saying things that imply how absurd and ridiculous it is, the idea that he could feel that way. But eventually, he even starts replying to her using “Pascal logic,” causing even Asbel to take note that something was up. Pascal becomes a frequent reason for things pertaining to Hubert’s actions later in the story. He does protect her from danger, and even actively avoids something of a marriage arrangement because he wants to pursue her and confess his feelings. This ends up not panning out very well for him, but not for a lack of effort, that’s for certain.

Hubert does have the ability to get flustered very often, and not just when it comes to dealing with the people he cares about. Sometimes, it almost seems like he goes looking for it; many of his conversations with Malik end this way, as well as a fair amount of his interactions with Pascal. His straight-laced nature clashes with their more loose ways of conversing -- even Asbel notes in one of the victory quotes that he seems to like being flustered, a testament to how often it happens.

The reasons why -- well, they’re pretty varied. Sometimes it’s something as simple as the length of Cheria’s skirt, or the way Malik (and later, Richard) tease him about blossoming romantic feelings. But other times, it’s really about what a nerd he can be. Vehemently denying his interest in the Sunscreen Rangers (the Ephinean equivalent of sentai series) to later correcting incorrectly stated canon facts about said series, right down to which color ranger he should be (he thinks Red, though Pascal thinks that it goes to Asbel, which bothers him). He’s kind of a stickler for canon; he’s that fanboy, who overhears a conversation and has to correct everyone who doesn’t know it as well as he does.

Another thing that flusters him? “Strahtan military secrets,” the worst kind. Those are the ones that link back to his inner nerd -- the fact that his dualblades are based on comic books he and Asbel read as children. Somewhere within tending to his duties, there’s definitely a part of Hubert that likes the idea of being a big, cool, hero... Even if getting him to admit it is an impossibility to the highest degree. Since, after all -- he’s a very serious and uptight guy.

When he’s not flustered, expressing his disdain for the actions of others, or being totally serious, there are still a lot of deep-seated feelings that he has. When it comes to Aston, they seem endless. His bitterness and lack of understanding for why he was sent away to be adopted is one that haunts him well enough, so much so that when he discovers that it truly was for his own good, he doesn’t really know how to take it. Now knowing that Aston did that to prevent him and Asbel from fighting for the title of Lord, and give Hubert a chance to succeed on his own, it changes things for him a lot. ”How am I supposed to hate him now?” is the question he asks upon realizing how misplaced his sour feelings were -- though not entirely his fault, as Aston did a poor job of conveying this to start. His feelings of bitterness do end up manifesting with some guilt; he becomes very adamant about telling a sailor reluctant to return and see his father, because “once he’s gone, it’ll be too damn late.” He projects a bit of his own feelings and experiences on the man, then gets worked up in making sure to convey just pointless it is to hold a grudge, now understanding that he took it all for granted. Though normally very outspoken, his shrill approach was enough to earn him the title of “hot-blooded,” surprising his comrades and giving quite a bit of insight to how he truly feels about his father’s death.

Knowing all of that information is a good shift in perspective for Hubert, though. It further motivates him to excel at the things he was already setting out to do, and obeying the wishes of his father by succeeding in Strahta and making the life for himself that he wouldn’t have been able to by staying in Lhant.

Ultimately, though, Hubert is very much the same at his core. Even with his misgivings, or how scathing he can be at times, he is a good person. His actions always come with the best interest of those around him, even if at times his execution is unsavory or roundabout. He’s a dorky, caring guy under the guise of a Very Serious Military Man, somehow simultaneously able to embody both sides excellently.

Abilities:
Physical combat is the name of Hubert’s game on the battlefield, his abilities (artes) are plentiful. Many of his artes revolve around basic strike techniques with his dualblades, though his weapon is incredibly non-standard. It’s also capable of being split into dual-pistols, as well as something of a bow in certain cases.

Though he’s able to switch with relative ease, switching between blades and pistols does leave his defenses down. Still, he’s very versatile, with a wide range of artes that can easily combat most of his enemies from both close and long ranges. In addition to this, he also does have two healing spells -- Healing Wind (a single target regenerative spell), and Antidote (which cures status ailments). A full listing of his many artes can be found here, for reference.

IC INFORMATION
Characters Name: Jonathan "Than" Getslinhaumer
Age: 16
Canon: The Most Popular Girls in School
Canon Point: Episode 23
Species: Human
Gender: Male
Orientation: IDEFK. He's sorta canonly gay. Even though he insists he isn't. Currently he's dating Brittnay Matthews, so you could make the case that he's bi, and he's hung around Shay van Buren too. But no, he's gay. He's just in denial. Cause he kissed Tanner and seems to have repressed boners for him. By the end of season two, he doesn't think he's gay... So let's just say he's open opportunity.

History: Than honestly doesn't do much in terms of plot, only appearing in twelve of the thirty episodes so far, but his appearance is usually A Big Deal. At least for him.

We first see Than in episode four, where he hangs out rather suspiciously in the boys locker room while the football team prepares to hit the showers. While Than's modus operandi is supposed to come off as cool and badass, it only comes off as creepy. The conversation he has with the football team leads them to believe he's gay, though he denies it passionately. Later, after being completely ostracized by the football team, he starts crying because he has no friends, crying even more when he's told not to stare at the football team's butts when they go to hit the showers.

Than disappears until episode twelve, where he escorts one of the popular girls, Shay Van Buren, to prom. He tries to be chummy with the football team but is again rebuked. He spends most of the prom alone, in fact, watching the football team perform a One Direction son in episode thirteen and quietly pining.

Than's next appearance is in episode sixteen is again in the boys locker room. The football team tries to explain how his gay double entendres aren't double entendres, but Than denies it and boasts that he can have any girl he wants. He then approaches Brittnay Matthews, a cheerleader, and awkwardly propositions her for sex. She somehow agrees via his unintentional reverse psychology tactic under a single stipulation: he can only put his penis in her butthole (which he readily agrees to).

He apparently charms Brittnay enough that she wants to keep him around. He accompanies her to the mall in episode eighteen even though she quickly tries to ditch him and joins her banging his head against a locker in episode nineteen.

They go on a date in episode twenty-three to see a Ryan Gosling movie. While Brittnay is in the bathroom, he encounters one of the football players on a date with his gay partner. He doesn't notice when they tiptoe around his sexuality, not even realizing that they're a couple or what they mean by calling Brittnay his beard. He leaves them on an awkward note, following Brittnay to see the movie.

Appearance: Check it out. He's a Mattel 2011 Barbie Fashionistas Wave 2 Cutie Ken ftr.

Personality: Than desperately wants to be popular. He's always seen wearing aviator glasses and a blazer with no shirt, all part of his "bad boy" appearance. He hangs around the football team and only bothers associating with popular girls. He goes to great lengths to maintain his appearance of cool badass and has a strong urge to adhere to the perceptions of popular, but that's all they are: appearances.

Thing is, Than fails miserably at being popular — and apparently has been since the third grade. Everybody becomes exasperated when they see him, disassociates themselves from him, or outright tells him to kill himself. He cries about having no friends and even has to nickname himself in order to have a nickname at all. He calls himself Than instead of Jon and gets upset whenever anybody calls him Jonathan or any variant that isn't Than. (Apparently he tried to nickname himself Uncle Jesse from Full House but nobody got the reference or would play along.)

It's because he tries so hard that he fails so bad. He either thinks too hard about what he's going to say or says it before he thinks it through, leading him to explain himself to the point of being an awkward mess. He doesn't get sarcasm, explains his jokes because nobody laughs at them, and always retorts with bad comebacks. He's blunt and forward which wouldn't necessarily be bad things if he didn't say the absolutely wrong thing at the single most wrong moment.

Part of the reason he's so awkward is because, at this point in the canon, he denies and hasn't realized and/or accepted his sexuality. He thinks he's completely straight, which becomes an issue when he wants to take a shower with the football team or becomes curious at any mention of butts or potential dude-on-dude action. He is eager to learn about gay sex but tries to appear disgusted at the idea. He's not subtle about it. At all. He says a lot of things that sound like an invitation to gay sex but denies any intention of meaning it. In fact, he says and does a lot of things that lead others to believe he's gay without realizing it himself. (See: "I'm the asshole! Just fuck me!")

He doesn't just repress himself though. Than has to go and be a homophobic prick about it most of the time. Despite the fact he goes around coming onto guys, he gets all huffy the second it seems like gay sex is about to happen and blames it on the other person. He's pretty rude with his relationships with girls too, though you'd think they'd get what's wrong with him since he cries at just the sight of vaginas. He's that gay.

Than probably tries to deny any part of himself that is attracted to men because it doesn't adhere to the image of popularity he has. (Later in episode thirty he announces that he was only pretending to be gay in order to fit in, even though he actively seeks out glory holes and other gay men.) He gets extremely shocked when meeting popular gay guys or gay couples in general. Outside sexuality, Than's so desperate to fit in that he quietly accepts everything. He leaves when people tell him to and badly tries to play things off even when they bother him. He's actually a sensitive guy who just wants to be a cool kid, but he'll settle for anybody who isn't obviously disgusted with him.

You'd think he'd pack up his bags and accept the rejection after all the hate, but it only makes him all the more tenacious. Whether it's continuing to shout after his Tanner who tries to ignore his existence or consistently showing up to the boys locker room even though he's been told to stay out, Than doesn't take no for an answer. Which kinda makes him a dick. And it doesn't help that he tends to blurt out insensitive or gross things.

While it's likely that he attended prom with Shay Van Buren just to boost his popularity and because he didn't want to go alone, it appears that his relationship with Brittnay is more sincere. While they originally hooked up with nothing more intended, they later start dating. He does a lot for her without asking anything in return: he joins her when she bangs her head against a locker without even asking why she's doing it, agrees to leave her alone when she asks for it, and lets her use his wallet to buy anything she wants on dates. As Brittnay points out, they have a lot in common: they both like Ryan Gosling movies and hate the football team. They also both like men. Yeah, it's complicated.

Abilities: None. He's a regular human. Barbie. Thing. Unless you count gay double entendres as an ability. They totally are.
Other: He can ride a unicycle without a seat, he loves all the episodes of Full House, and Magic Mike is his Bible, jsyk.

First Person: [video]

The name's Than. I'm looking for my girlfriend. My totally hot, not-a-dude girlfriend. You've probably seen her. Wears a cheerleader uniform, kinda loud, about this tall, and, uh, she curses a lot. Like, all the time. Did I mention she's my girlfriend and totally hot? And a girl. 100% girl. Trust me, I've seen her girl parts and they're... [shuddering] Gross! I mean, hot!

Oh yeah, one more thing! There's been something that's bothering me. Some of these houses have dudes in the houses and it's like they're dude-married. It's, like, whoa! Right? Dudes married to dudes! Married? More like...gay!

Anyway... If anybody has seen my girlfriend, give me a ring. Or not! Hey, if you just want to hang out or something, that's cool too. We could totally hit up the gym and take a shower together. You know, guy stuff! So, how about it?

Third Person: Than was quickly realizing that people in Holly Heights were nothing like people in Overland Park. He walks up to a guy in the shower and asks if it would be alright if he joined, only to get a shocked expression before the man scuffles away with a mysterious grin.

Which is weird, now that Than thinks about it. A smile like that, was the guy trying to come onto him? Cool. Er, no! Weird! And gross! Than isn't sure how he feels about that but it totally isn't good. The guy was definitely weird, especially his reaction, and Than felt weird about it right back at him.

At least guys in Overland Park talked to him about it. He'd like to think he had a good relationship with the guys, like he could talk to them about anything. They were friends, right? Yeah, totally... Best friends...

"Man, I miss those guys," he muses to nobody in particular. He thinks of Tanner and suddenly it feels like the water's become much hotter.

Canon: Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL
Canon Point: the very beginning of 116, just after V's conversation with Kaito about their shiny new transporter and how Yuma absolutely can't be told about it
Species: Human
Gender: Male
Orientation: No preference. Chris has never shown a canon interest in anyone (because he's only ever pulled out for plot), but he's from the future in a series with friendship and acceptance as themes and all his significant relationships are with men (he grew up in a family of all boys and his closest friend is a boy), so I don't think he'd really care. He's going to object more to being kidnapped and forced to live with a stranger than that stranger's sex or gender.

History:
(Note: The wikia uses dub terminology, and I...don't, so tread with caution.)
http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Vetrix_Family
http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/V#Biography

Appearance:
he is 6'1" tallhis hair is amazinghis boots totally have heelshe has this shiny bracelethe gets this mark on his face when he duels

Personality:
V is the calmest, most stable member of the Tron family, to the point where he often seems cold and aloof, especially around people who aren't family. He's always been considerably calmer than his brothers, but most of the coldness showed up after Dr. Faker attempted to murder their father and he vowed revenge on the man. He also tends to be the most rational and logical out of the three brothers, following in his father's footsteps of seeing the world through a scientist's eyes and acting upon what's in his head more often than what's in his heart. This is most obvious at the end of his duel with Kaito; even though he desperately wants to win and feels he has to win, when it becomes obvious that there's nothing he can do to win, he accepts his defeat quietly and calmly.

His aloofness even reflects itself in his deck. V plays a Burn deck, which means a lot of cards that just inflict damage on the opponent and not a lot of monsters attacking, and a lot of cards to prevent the opponent's attacks from getting through. Even his Numbers card is a card that allows nothing to get near it and inflicts damage through effects rather than attacks. Like his deck, he doesn't like to allow anyone outside his family to get close to him so he won't be hurt by them later, and he tends to direct Tron's plans from behind the scenes, rather than going out and causing trouble himself.

However, under the aloofness and rationality is an extremely passionate, driven, angry young man who practically had his entire world destroyed, first when he thought his father had been killed, and then when his father came back as a hateful little boy who was only vaguely similar to how he'd been before. V was there on the trip where his father was "killed", and he was undoubtedly the closest to his father, so his "death" struck V the hardest. His actions from then on were motivated almost entirely by thoughts of revenge and hatred. He even threw away a close friendship that meant a great deal to him because he found out the boy he was friends with (Kaito) was Faker's son and he couldn't stand to be near him anymore.

V also has a bit of an ego and a ridiculous amount of pride. He often mocks his opponents for thinking they could possibly be a challenge or for being a waste of time during duels, and he seems to enjoy proving that he is better than them. He is a fairly good duelist, so it isn't entirely unfounded, but it does also make him seem more his age. When another duelist does manage to land a blow on him, he practically goes into a rage and all his rational, non-emotional thinking goes out the window. He's easily talked out of it again, but the potential is there.

Most importantly, though, is that V is fiercely loyal to his family, especially his father. All of the brothers are, really, but V is the only one of the three who has never wavered. He's absolutely devoted to Tron and does whatever he asks without question. The one thing guaranteed to piss him off other than an affront to himself is an affront to Tron, even if it's as simple as his brother talking back a bit. His anger and need for revenge are a direct result of being so devoted to his father.

He truly cares about his brothers too, although he does care for III a little more, because he's the youngest and not nearly as obnoxious as IV. When Tron gives an extremely dangerous card to III to help him win a duel, V is obviously concerned about it. He keeps his feelings about his brothers much closer to his chest than his feelings about Tron, however. And he is a bit more distant from them than they are from each other, because of time spent apart and he tended to hang out with his father a little more while he was still the right age anyway.

He also still cared about Kaito even while they were enemies, because he sees Kaito like a brother and bonds like that don't just go away. By they time they faced each other, he'd already even considered that it might be silly to hold a grudge against Kaito for something his father did (briefly considered, and then dismissed because he was angry and it was too late to back down anyway). While they were still enemies, this mostly manifested in taunting Kaito about the state Photon Mode was putting him in and then beating the crap out of him in a duel to get him out of the tournament and his duties of Numbers Hunting and taking care of his own brother, so he wouldn't have to suffer any more. (That sort of tough love is pretty par for the course for him too, because he used to beat the crap out of Kaito to make him a better duelist while he was still acting as Kaito's mentor.)

And then he lost his duel and got some sense knocked into him, and Tron lost his duel and...yeah, and Faker was forgiven and the Arclights could finally move on with their lives and leave anger and revenge behind them. Yay.

V is still pretty calm and aloof, but he isn't nearly as angry any more (there's still hurt there, because that's not going to heal instantly, but at least he can smile again) and he's a bit warmer toward people he considers friends. Just a bit, unless that friend is Kaito or his brothers. With them, he's comfortable enough for friendly banter and teasing and smiles that aren't just smirks. He still doesn't always agree with Kaito on the right move to make at times, but they're comfortable enough with each other that despite their history, those disagreements pose no threat to their friendship and they can quickly be set aside if needed or if they're just getting tired of arguing. Presumably, he's patched up his relationship with his brothers well enough too, because they've been able to spend a significant amout of time in a submarine without killing each other.

He'll never be the kind, almost friendly boy he used to be, but at least now he's actually happy again.

He's also become a bit overprotective of Yuma Tsukumo, which is pretty understandable since Yuma is the one who finally got through to Tron and helped the Arclights the most, and he's really the only friend III has outside his family, and he's only thirteen and has had to go through all sorts of crap, and he's just a rather likable person in general. V thinks quite a lot of him, but he doesn't like the idea of Yuma getting into more danger than absolutely necessary. Like using an untested device to travel through dimensions to an unknown world. Yeah, that's totally safe for a thirteen-year-old. V didn't even want Yuma to know about that possibility because Yuma would jump on the chance to go and that's dangerous.

In fact, V's gotten a bit more proactive too, because he was fully prepared to go through that device himself to help Yuma, despite the danger (in fact, it probably would have been even more dangerous for him to go). And he helped build the device in the first place. And he's the one who went out of his way to build the bracelets he and his brothers have so they could keep their powers. He still prefers working behind the scenes, but he's still out there doing things and isn't making his brothers do all the work anymore.

V can also be kind of a dork, usually by doing something so over-the-top it becomes ridiculous. There's a point when everyone is dueling on a roller coaster and he decides to stand up on his roller coaster car to attack his opponent, with a card that took him out in one turn without any hope of blocking it. Much as he doesn't always act like it, he is still only 20 years old and he has kind of a flair for the dramatic (much like his younger brother), though he'd deny it and be a little bewildered if anyone actually pointed that out to him.

Abilities:
Powers:
The Crest - Once upon a time, the Arclights had these shiny crests that appeared in various places on their bodies and glowed and gave them various powers like:
-immunity to the influence of the Numbers cards
-immunity to having their souls stolen
-Teleportation via a kickass sort-of wormhole
-(V) limited telekinesis (nothing heavier than himself, can't move anything too big too far or for too long without getting tired)
-(V) limited mind control (only for short periods of time, easier on people who are already inclined to do what he wants)
-(Tron/III) memory manipulation
-(Tron) manipulation of his powers and others' (giving or taking them away)
-(Tron) taking away other people's Numbers/souls
-(Tron/III) direct contact with Astral beings (being able to see them and hurt them)

These crests were directly linked to the Arclight boys' souls, so if they exhausted themselves by losing a duel, they lost their souls to their father and fell into a coma. They probably would never have woken up again if Tron hadn't had some sense knocked into him and taken some pity on them. And that was supposed to be the end of it; Tron supposedly exhausted his powers after that and the boys had all lost theirs after losing their duels.

That wasn't the case, though. Tron kept his powers, and Chris invented a set of bracelets for himself and his brothers so they could tap into those powers and use them too (and not have them be connected to their souls this time). He also put in a video chat system, so they could communicate with each other. It's hard to tell just what powers were kept or what can be used now that they're spread among the four of them (they're probably just weaker, keeping the super-standard stuff and nothing else, but we're probably not going to find out either way any time soon), but the ones that have been hinted at or shown so far are:
-teleportation (probably via the kickass wormhole, that's a pretty standard ability for anyone with these and similar powers)
-immunity to the influence of the Numbers cards
-force-shield to block effects of other people's powers

D-Gazer Tattoo - The D-Gazers are part of Zexal's newfangled way of dueling--instead of dueling with holograms, the D-Gazers connect wirelessly to create a world of artificial reality to duel in instead. The Arclights don't use regular, mechanical D-Gazers; instead, they have tattoos that form around the left eye that work like a D-Gazer instead. Nor are they the only ones. Because Zexal is silly like that.

Skills
Chris assisted his father and Dr. Faker in their search for other dimensions when he was about 15, so he's pretty damn intelligent and has at least a passing knowledge of theoretical physics and applied physics (and seeing as his deck is space-themed, he probably has some interest in/knowledge of astrophysics as well). He also has some amount of programming knowledge/advanced computer skills--the world of Zexal is more advanced technologically than ours and has holograms and integrated artificial reality and Chris is able to manipulate both with ease. He also has some engineering knowledge, since he and Kaito designed and built an interdimensional transporter together. He is pretty much a science and math kind of guy.

He can also pilot a helicopter.

And he's also a top-tier duelist! Which basically amounts to being a good strategist.

Other:
-Chris is 6"1" and weighs 150 lbs. Thank you, Astral, for the exact measurements.
-He is a Rich Kid like whoa and has never lived in anything as small as a suburban house in his life (other than a submarine, but c'mon, who owns a submarine). Even when he was living with Dr. Faker and probably had almost nothing to his name, it was in a huge tower with tons of rooms and stuff everywhere. Living in a house with only two bedrooms will be an Experience.

It was a bit chilly when Chris reached the designated area and started setting up. Not too surprising, really; it was a little late in the year for it to be anything but chilly at night. It was just something that came with the territory. And anyway, it was always going to be colder when the sky was clear, like it was right now--clear and dark and scattered with stars. Not as dark or as starry was he would have liked, but it was hard to find anywhere completely devoid of light pollution here. At least it wasn't Heartland, but then, he could also leave Heartland to find a nice dark spot when he wanted.

Still this spot wasn't too bad. It had taken a while to figure out where it was darkest and furthest away from the brighter lights, and it often depended on what other people where up to that day. It had taken a while to actually get a telescope too, a good one that still wasn't too much trouble for one person to deal with, so there hadn't been much rush. Maybe it would have been nice to have everything ready a little earlier in the year...though he hadn't exactly arrived in the middle of the summer. It couldn't really be helped.

There's a very content look, almost a smile, on his face as he puts the last piece in place and runs his fingers over the cool metal casing. It's been a long time since he had a telescope of his own, too...of course, he could use Faker, while he'd been living there, but he'd generally been too busy, and the idea that Tron would have allowed such hobbies was laughable. He'd been too busy or upset for almost any hobbies for so many years...

Chris shook his head a couple times to get himself to stop thinking about that and sat down to start calibrating the telescope and lining it up with something interesting. He certainly wasn't busy now so he was going to enjoy it while he could. And anyway, he should probably have it set on something by the time someone else showed up. The post he'd made about this earlier had gotten a bit of interest, so there would probably be someone showing up soon. Kaito, at the very least, and maybe their other friends from home, although Chris was hoping they wouldn't be the only ones.

Characters Name: Takeshi Yamamoto

Canon: Mafia Babies (canon overview)
Canon Point: end of chapter 409/post canon
Species: Human
Gender: Male/Male
Orientation: Though it's not stated explicitly in canon what team he's batting for (heh), I'm going to say that Yamamoto really doesn't have a preference. He's also only 15 so I honestly don't think even he knows much about his sexuality, nor has he really given much thought into the dating scene. Still, he's a sweet and easy-going guy and isn't one to base who he likes on gender; if he likes you, he likes you, regardless whether you're a boy or girl.

History: Baseball Derp (character overview)
Appearance:

Yamamoto basically looks like your average Japanese boy next door with brown eyes and perpetually messy black hair. What sets him apart from others is his ever present bright smile and his athletic physique; he's pretty lean and wiry with a good distribution of defined muscle tone all around. He's also rather tall for his age and honestly looks more like a high schooler than a middle schooler.

Canon Point: Post-Series
Species: Human/Center Nova
Gender: Female
Orientation: Unknown despite what the ending might lead you to believe. Like a lot of idol groups in Japan, 00 has a dating ban, and contact with men (that aren't family) outside of giving handshakes and autographs is forbidden and can lead to scandal if caught.

History: wikia
Appearance: cherry cherry boy cherry cherry girl
Personality: Chieri is something of a complicated person. She's pretty, talented, and most definitely popular- that's for sure- but Chieri is also very lonely and insecure, owing largely to her childhood. Having lost her mother and older brother at an early age, and having a father who's never there, Chieri grew up with only the family servants to keep her company, having no friends except for the three girls she met one day on Lancastar- Nagisa, Orine, and Yuka- though even then, she didn't see them again for another four years.

Initially, Chieri comes off as a very cold and unfriendly person, seeing everyone else as rivals, and urging Nagisa to due to do the same if she wishes to succeed. Although she has moments of kindness at times, the other girls, mainly Yuka, are turned off by her attitude. Despite this, Chieri continues to hold onto her dream- to join AKB0048 together with the three girls she met as a child, and when she berates Orine for losing her composure over a hater, it's because she doesn't want the other girl to give up. Chieri warms up over time, though still maintains something of a friendly rivalry with Nagisa. Still, Chieri remains insecure at times, and almost quits the group during two separate occasions, feeling she doesn't deserve to be there. Chieri also isn't afraid to speak up for herself; when put on trial at the beginning of the second season, Chieri speaks in favor of being an idol, rather than accept accusations of being brainwashed to avoid being prosecuted.

Chieri admires Oshima Yuuko the 9th, the current successor to the Oshima Yuuko name and the leader of AKB0048. When she's chosen as a stand-in for Yuuko, when some of the successors are sent to attend a peacekeeping ceremony, Chieri makes it a point to observe the older girl and study how best to emulate her. Chieri might not like peppers, but if Yuuko likes them? Pile 'em up on Chieri's plate, too! Yuuko's trying out 'sexy' poses? Chieri... will attempt that too (and wind up horribly embarrassed when caught by Nagisa). Chieri and Nagisa's rivalry also extends towards their mutual admiration of Yuuko; both would like to be successors to the name, though neither want to force Yuuko out of the group in order to do such due to one person being able to be a successor to a certain name at a time.

Chieri's relationships with the other girls is fairly complicated. Although she sees them as friends, outside of her friendship with Nagisa, the other girls view her less than favorably at first. As time passes, they warm up to each other, though Chieri and Nagisa's rivalry hits a few awkward snags at times, as Chieri feels jealousy and insecurity at how Nagisa seems to shine with a radiant aura, something Chieri worries she herself lacks at first. Still, Chieri is willing to put herself on the line for the sake of her friends, as shown at one point when she and Nagisa discuss becoming a Center Nova, an idol whose radiance shines the brightest of all, as well as has the power to move time and space, to bring back Yuuko, the leader of 0048, who attempted but failed to become a true Center Nova during the attack on Akibastar, the idols' homeworld.

Although he was never around during her childhood, and although he denied her her dream, Chieri still tries to believe that there's still good inside her father deep down, and that she can reach out to him; she holds onto one fond memory of him carrying her to bed, insisting that he was the one to do such (even though her butler stated he was the one to carry her, instead). When Nagisa tells her about how she was able to win her own father's approval by talking to him, Chieri resolves to do the same thing with hers, even though his company manufactures weapons for DES, a group that hates idols and wishes to eradicate entertainment from the galaxy. Unfortunately, despite sneaking onboard a ship bound for Chieri's homeworld, things go wrong when she attempts to speak with him; her attempt at reaching out to him through song ends when he is murdered, and Chieri is left horrified and depressed at this, as her only chance at trying to make him understand is lost forever.

While her father's death has a huge impact on her, Chieri attempts to slowly pick up the pieces... by trying to lose herself in practicing her dancing at first. Although she still has yet to come to terms with the loss of the last remaining family she had, Chieri resolves to push forward and help the girls take back Akibastar and bring back Yuuko, though still remains saddened over her father's death. Although 00 has a rule against killing DES troops (despite the fact that they won't hesitate to use lethal force against 00), Chieri still nearly comes close to killing a DES trooper who harasses Suzuko during the battle for Akibastar, knowing DES most likely is behind her father's assassination. However, she shows him mercy at the last second, instead singing to him ('Kono Namida wo Kimi ni Sasagu').

"From now on, instead of fighting, listen to our song!"

Indeed, Chieri recognizes that deep down, even the DES troopers aren't that heartless, and by extending her hand to another trooper that tries shooting at her, invokes the Center Nova phenomenon.

Beyond that, it's said that once a Center Nova reaches the peak of her radiance, and finds harmony, that she's 'spirited away' to another world beyond the reaches of time and space, where the disappeared Center Nova sing forevermore in order to protect the future of entertainment.

First Person: here, here, and here

Third Person: (reusing my third person for Route 29)

Chieri knew she shouldn't be so accepting of loneliness, but it was just all too soon, all too much, for her to fully process her father's death. She had almost reached out to him- she wanted to believe as much- but with a single shot that chance had been lost to her forever. It was perhaps why, during the evenings and in the shadows, she would eventually get up and practice, not particularly any dance in particular, but wanting to take her mind off the present. Oshawott sat nearby, seeming worried for her well-being, but Chieri paid no heed as she practiced the steps to 'RIVER', 'Aitakatta', and 'Beginner', in no particular order.

There was no music with which to accompany her dance, but she didn't care; it would have been distracting, in the end... or maybe it's just that Chieri wanted to keep from thinking too much about things- music would have been a distraction. Still, the silence eventually bothered her, and she began to sing to keep pace with the dancing.

"There's a river running in your heart too, the river of hard times," she sang, "Even if things don't go too well... Even if you drown sometimes, just try again- don't give up."

Eventually, exhaustion got the best of her, and Chieri sank to the ground, once again left to her own thoughts. The darkness was inviting once more, and she accepted it for now, too spent to truly try to put on a brave front again. Why was she here, really? She hadn't fully figured that out yet, beyond that they were supposed to journey around and collect Pokemon. If you had to ask her, it was something she could see Sonata doing, maybe alongside Makoto and Suzuko, but Chieri just wasn't certain she could handle doing this, not right now, at the least. Heaving a sigh, Chieri slowly got back to her feet, and headed back to her hotel room, to get ready for bed.

"Come on, Oshawott," she told her Pokemon partner, "I'm done now; we can sleep."

IC INFORMATION
Characters Name: Apollo Justice
Age: 22
Canon: Ace Attorney
Canon Point: Just following the events of AA4 - Apollo Justice
Species: Human
Gender: Male
Orientation: Heterosexual (Apollo never really gives any indication that he has any inclination towards a particular sexuality at all, so this is the most likely option.)

History: Apollo Justice on the wikia. And the summary page for his game.
Appearance:
Personality: Apollo has a bravado and confidence in himself that is counter-acted by the fact that he is so obviously uncertain of himself when put in the spotlight - he usually behaves in a very self-assured manner, but the moment he’s put under pressure he reveals his true, self-doubting nature. This is something he tries his hardest to hide at all times, to mostly inadequate effect. When the nerves hit him hardest, he will put up his front more solidly than ever, after practicing his Chords of Steel for a few hours in the morning, which only leaves him sounding raspy and more ill-prepared than he already was. Basically, you can tell when Apollo is nervous because he starts to yell louder and gets so lost in his own thoughts afterward that it’s difficult to tell why exactly he was yelling to begin with.

While he has the highest respect for people older and more experienced than he is, if someone gives him a reason to doubt them, he has a tendency to drop all pretenses of respect instantly. For example, Apollo had idolized Phoenix Wright, but upon discovering that Phoenix had manipulated him into using forged evidence Apollo wasted no time in punching the older man and proceeded to treat him in a sarcastic, teasing manner for the rest of his story, despite Phoenix becoming his mentor of a sort.

Apollo is actually a very vain person and puts a lot of effort into his appearence. It’s one of the things that gives him so much confidence in himself. When he’s looking good, he feels good, and he performs better. So he is a very cleanly person, at least where his own person is concerned, and judges people who don’t take care of themselves as well as he takes care of himself. Once again, the way he thinks about Phoenix is another good example of this.

At heart, Apollo is a very trusting, stubborn, self-driven person. He always believes in his clients 100% and is very devoted to discovering the truth behind every case that presents itself to him. The truth is very important to him, and while he may not go to any length to find it, he is more than willing to dig as hard as he can to pull it out.

There are a few more small points of interest to Apollo’s personality. Firstly, he is passionate about his work. He believes in justice whole-heartedly, hence his name. And he will always be happy to pursue it. He loves being a defense attorney. Secondly, he is not so great with technology. He doesn’t use computers much and he doesn’t drive either, preferring to bike. Lastly, linking in with the previous point, Apollo is something of an old-soul fuddy-duddy. He gets flustered at the mentions of anything inappropriate (ie ‘panties’) and he doesn’t care for loud environments or rock’n’roll music. And he doesn’t really understand a lot of people who are actually around his own age, falling in with a much older crowd as to his tastes. Of course, that just makes him all the easier to pick on and all the more entertaining for those around him.
Abilities: Apollo is a naturally perceptive person and a very good defense attorney. He is good at analyzing a situation and projecting the most likely train of events. He is also very good at picking apart things people say, discovering the nuggets of truth hidden within.

The only ability that Apollo has that could be deemed as something ‘unnatural’ in any way would be his Perception: he has the ability to pinpoint the nervousness in other people and use it to his advantage in manipulating the truth out of them.
Other: Apollo’s ability is a genetic thing, but is mostly ineffectual without his bracelet. He will be losing his bracelet upon his entrance into Holly Heights.

SAMPLES
First Person: An old thread from Route 29 when it was still on Livejournal. If you’d like something else/more, just let me know.

Third Person:
“Almost… got it…”

Apollo’s eyes were fixed on the mirror before him. He was just finishing up his morning routine in the bathroom at his new home, which meant that he was applying gel to his hair in copious amounts and making sure that his prongs were sticking up just right. His eyebrows were furrowed in concentration and his tongue peeked out just a little bit as he put the last bit of gel into his hair and then carefully stroked his prongs, making sure they were solidly in place.

“There!” As Apollo was about to congratulate himself on a job well done, he heard a door open somewhere in the house and startled, causing his hand to slip on his still-drying hair, sending it awry of his careful placement.

Letting out a distressed sound, Apollo glared in the general direction of the offending noise. “Could you keep it down out there?!” He yelled. Of course, most of the house had probably gotten sick of his yelling by this point, but Apollo sincerely wasn’t used to living with other people anymore and it was really throwing off his usual routines.

With a grumble to himself, Apollo turned his eyes back to the mirror, beholding the horror that was his ruined hairdo.

“Back from the start,” he mumbled as he rinsed the gel out of his hair and began to meticulously reapply it.

[personal profile] elfiehopkins 2013-09-01 11:29 pm (UTC)(link)
History:
Elfie Hopkins is 22 years old and for lack of a better word she's a slacker who lives in a sleepy hunting village in England. One thing that keeps Elfie occupied in this dead end village that she calls home is the fact that she’s a wannabe detective and has been ever since her mother’s death when she was a child which she blames herself for. When she was a young teenager around 13 years old she was out with her geeky best friend Dylan Parker one evening. They had been gone for quite a while and her mother who was worried about them had gone out to look for them. She knew that there was a hunt going on in the village and she was afraid that something had happened to both Elfie and Dylan. Straying too close to the hunting party Elfie's mother was shot and killed by one of the hunters. Elfie has always had her suspicions that it wasn't an accident and this was her first 'big case' to try and find out the motive behind her mother's death...of course this was all just to cover up her own grief and guilt. Her father was completely broken by the events and has never been the same since though he did re-marry to an alcoholic woman who isn’t fond of Elfie and Elfie isn’t fond of her.

Elfie and Dylan occupy themselves in this small village by investigating the local population and upsetting them with their imaginative allegations. Everything changes however when the Gammon family, a group of trendy city dwellers move in next door to Elfie…

The Gammon's weave tales of adventure and seduce the villagers, offering them exotic trips around the world which they're in the business of. Or at least that’s what they’re telling everyone anyway. It's not long before the villagers are jet setting off, heading to bag the top 5 in Africa or heading off a desert to ride camels through the sand. However, these local people never make their flights and they never return to the village. To begin with Elfie is just as charmed by the Gammon's especially the father of the family, Charlie. He wasn't like any man she had ever met before and he seemed to...understand her. Until she gets suspicious again that is. So, Dylan and Elfie together start to investigate the Gammon's life. Bloody violence and pandemonium start in the village and it's not the blood of the animals that are being hunted anymore. Elfie finally uncovers the truth about the Gammon family and it's worse than she ever could have imagined in her wildest nightmares.

Charlie, the head of the family had been a missionary in Papua New Guinea and lived with a local tribe there. As he lived with them he went ‘native’, adopting their customs one of them being cannibalism. It’s in Papua New Guinea that he met his future wife and eventually they had two children a boy and a girl. When they moved away from Papua New Guinea Charlie found it difficult to move away from the life had been accustomed to, influencing his wife and his kids to join in on his diet. For years and years they’ve moved from place to place sending families on these trips only to catch up with them on their way to the airport, kill them and eat them. This is exactly what they have planned for Elfie’s village. There are many clues that point her to the truth and eventually she does find it out. She’s not quick enough to save Dylan’s father or her father and step-mother, all being killed by the Gammon family. When Dylan goes missing she fears the worse and heads to the Gammon house ready to take them out. She manages to kill the children and mother without too much difficulty, finding Dylan in the house and still alive. Then Charlie returns home. She has great difficulty fighting him off and it’s one of the local men, the butcher in the village that ultimately saves them from death, shooting Charlie and killing him.

After the events in the village both Elfie and Dylan decide to leave to go to the city where Dylan has been accepted into university. They leave the past behind as boyfriend and girlfriend to start a new life and a new adventure together.

Appearance:
Here and Here!

Personality:
Elfie likes to portray herself as a kind of a ‘tough girl’ and a rebel. The way she dresses and the fact that she’s likes to smoke a lot of weed indicates that clearly. She’s often getting herself into trouble with the locals of the area and this indicates clearly that she likes to break the rules and doesn’t really care what other people think about her. At least the people who aren’t worth it anyway which in Elfie’s eyes are very few in number. There are very few people that she lets herself get close to except for her only friend in the village Dylan Parker. This shows that she’s an extremely guarded person who could even be described as a bit of a loner. Elfie is also a very stubborn person. Everyone in the village tells her to stop with her investigations and to leave the Gammon’s alone but she doesn’t listen to them. Instead she’s determined to get to the bottom of anything suspicious going on in her neighbourhood. This again shows that she obviously doesn’t really care what other people think about her. She’s not exactly the most cheerful of people either; she even describes herself once as being ‘miserable as fuck.’ As a result there are very few emotions that she shows other than…well, being miserable.

However, underneath Elfie’s tough exterior there is a vulnerable young woman underneath. Even though her mother has been dead for nearly ten years now she’s still broken by her death. The guilt and the hurt that she felt on that day are still as prominent as it was before and it’s the reason that she acts out so much. She also feels unloved by her father and her step-mother but because of the type of person she is she keeps her emotions and concerns bottled up inside. Honestly, Elfie just wants to be accepted by people and she wants people to understand why she does the things she does instead of shutting her out. Her vulnerability is also shown when Dylan gets an acceptance letter from a university in the city. She shows that she’s slightly selfish as she doesn’t want him to go fulfil his dream but stay there with her. However, again she’s only hiding her true emotions which is a common trait of hers especially when it comes to Dylan. Love clearly isn’t something she’s comfortable with expressing and this is shown clearly when it comes to Dylan. He kisses her and instead of admitting how she feels about him she just pushes him away as a reflex. Affection isn’t something that comes easy to her either. When she does finally admit to how she feels for Dylan he mentions the fact they’re now an item and her response is: “Shut up, Parker.” She does smile with him though, showing that she is capable of being something other than miserable on the exterior from time to time.

As Elfie is essentially a wannabe detective there are many personality traits that she has which help her to achieve this detective’s mind. She is extremely good at piecing information together immediately linking the fact that Charlie had gone ‘native’ with the fact they were cannibals. This also shows that she’s an extremely intelligent, observant and persistent person, never giving up on her investigations even if others think she’s just being farfetched.

Abilities:
Though Elfie doesn’t exactly have any special abilities or qualifications to show how intellectual or not she is Elfie has a great detective’s mind and she has an extremely good imagination. Her mind can pick up meanings behind things that other people might just gloss over and her imagination can make up the wildest stories with the simplest of details.

Other:
Get ready for some English slang and an extremely miserable Elfie especially since she doesn’t have her weed on her. Also she may feel the need to investigate pretty much every person around this place she get ready for some questions.

SAMPLES
First Person:
Alright, whoever the hell is in charge here seriously has some explaining to do. I mean what kind of freak just kidnaps people and brings them to this place? I’m sure it’s just great here and all but I’d rather be at home right now. People need me. This is a matter of life and death here. No one is paying the least bit of attention to me, are they?

[She sighs a little]

And another thing, where the hell are all my things? I need my tape recorder. And my stash. I refuse to stay here without either. Honestly, whoever’s in charge here? You do not want to fuck with me. I’m going to figure out what whacked up shit is going on here and I’m going to get to the bottom of it.

[And with that Elfie is gone.]

Third Person:
Elfie groans a little as she slowly wakes up from her sleep. She is definitely not a morning person and she would prefer to stay in bed all day if she could but Parker’s usually in her room and waking her up before he heads off to classes in the morning. I guess he just wants to make sure she actually does something productive with her day. I mean Parker is a good egg but that’s one thing about him she doesn’t particularly like. When she opens her eyes she immediately closes them again, the light blinding. After a few moments her eyes open once more and they widen once they realize they’re not looking up at the ceiling of her small room but at the sky. She sits up quickly, looking around her. It’s that that she realizes she’s sitting on the lawn outside a house and in a deck chair.

“Holy shit that must have been some strong stuff we were smoking last night, man…”

She gets up from the chair, staggering a little as she feels a little lightheaded but she quickly righting herself. She looks around once more, eyes squinted as she takes in her unfamiliar surroundings. She walks towards the house, noting that the envelope on the door has her name on it. Her brow furrowing again she takes it off, opening it and reading its contents.

“You have got to be shitting me. Is this place for real?” Maybe she’s still high or maybe she’s dreaming? No, this feels far too real to be either…

She moves to her pocket to take out her tape recorder, almost like an automatic reaction. She wants to record everything running through her mind right now before she forgets it…but it’s not there. Pursing her lips she shakes her head.

“Someone around here has a lot of explaining to do.”

IC INFORMATION
Characters Name: Elize Lutus
Age: 12
Canon: Tales of Xillia
Canon Point: End of Tales of Xillia
Species: Human
Gender: Female
Orientation: Elize spent a lot of time in seclusion, and though her journey with the others helped her open up to people, her idea of attraction isn't very well developed. She has a crush on Jude, but she doesn't have much basis for it other than the fact that he was her first best friend. But she does have a dream to get married some day. Her preference is for guys. She probably wouldn't understand being married to another girl.

History: A lot of Elize's early memories have been forgotten. Only when she returns to a familiar town does she begin to learn about her past.

Her parents were killed when she was very little by a bandit, and she was found and sold by a woman who turned over orphans to laboratories that were studying the technology of Boosters. Elize was a specimen they were particularly proud of, as she had a closeness with her Booster 'Teepo' that no one else had managed to come even close to.

In the early stages of the game, when Milla, Jude and Alvin first encounter Elize, it's in the small town of Hamil, where she was told to stay in a shack in the back of town and never leave. It's because she leaves that she meets the party on their first crossing through Hamil. Jiao, who looks out for her on a number of occassions, is the one who told her not to leave the shack, and protects her. The villagers do not treat her kindly after all. There are a few who try to befriend her, but the general consensus is that she should be shunned.

When the party finds her the second time, it's at the mercy of the townspeople. And it's for that reason that Jude asks she be able to come with them - at least until they can find her a better home. However, she and Teepo prove to be more than dead weight when they show what they're capable of, and she ends up tagging along with them for the long haul, with the exception of one short break in which the party separated for a short time after Milla's supposed death.

The group travels to destroy a large Spyrix known as the Lance of Kresnik. Though their enemies change a few times. They fight the Rashugal army for it, only to have the other army stand in their way - desiring to use it. They maintained their own stance and resolved to destroy it.

However, when the issue of a thing known as the Schism came to the forefront as well as the knowledge of a second world - Elympios, their focus shifted. They sought to find a way to protect both worlds - people and spirit alike by destroying the Schism by defeating Maxwell and promoting the use of not Spyrix - which kills spirits - but a new thing known as Spyrites, which does not. Though the concept was in its infancy, they saw it as the only way to help both worlds, and even when it pit them against the Chimeriad and Gaius, they fought for their beliefs... and won.

In the end, they all went their own ways, but kept in contact regularly with letters.

Elize came to live with a friend they met on their journey - Driselle. She gave up Teepo, putting him to sleep, and began going to school and making other friends her age.

Appearance: here

Personality: At the start, Elize was a shy, awkward girl with next to no experience communicating with others. The only 'friend' she had was Teepo, a pink and purple talking doll. It seemed at first that the two were completely different. However, the truth is that while Teepo may have it's own way of saying things not unlike a personality, Teepo is notedly used by Elize often as someone who says the things she can't or is afraid to. Because of her timid personality, Teepo is often the one to dish out insults or cruel words when she has those kinds of feelings towards others. However, she doesn't always agree with the way he says them, which denotes a certain amount of emotion gets lost in translation from her feelings to the things that come out of Teepo's mouth.

While she lacked experience with others or communication skills, that by no means meant that she lacked a desire for them. It was exactly the opposite. Elize was very happy to meet Jude and the others, and became very attached to the idea of having friends and getting to be good friends with them.

She's always nervous the first time she meets someone. But she's also filled with a great curiosity about people. When she gets to know them, she likes the idea of getting to know little things about them like what kinds of food they like. Her speech can often times be found to have stuttering or a pauses in it, but it's improved a lot through her experience with her friends. She's shy and speaks softly, but her confidence has improved. While she still wouldn't brag about anything, she knows that she can be useful somehow to her friends and she believes that her place is with them.

Elize hates liars, and she's not incapable of being mean or holding a grudge. It's less malicious than it is the result of her taking her hurt feelings out the people who she blames for that. Examples include her treatment of Alvin, who betrays the party on multiple occasions and the way she treats everyone after they refused to help go after the memory piece of Teepo's that was taken from the doll. For a long time she does nothing to hide her dislike of Alvin, calling him a big fat liar and generally being rude to him personally and through Teepo. After the incident where Teepo's memory was lost, she became detached and angry at everyone. They were her friends and she blamed them for their inaction, because at the time she couldn't understand their reasoning. She let her hurt get the worst of her and she said a lot of mean things that she later regretted.

While she is still young and makes the mistakes and misunderstandings that a lot of young children do, she also has her own kind of wisdom. It's a simple wisdom, not necessarily linked to smarts as much as it is to emotions. She speaks what she feels a lot, and manages to find a lot of answers that way.

She also enjoys doing "girl things" like going out shopping.

When told stories of a scary nature, she can be a bit naive in believing things that are obviously told just to mess with her, such as the tale that wyverns snack on the souls of little children. Her reactions are usually entertaining in that she gets skittish and jumpy.

The girl is quick on her feet.

Elize is strong in the sense that, while she may be fragile, she's full of determination. Even if she gets knocked down or gets confused and isn't sure what to do next, Elize always tries her hardest to get back up and keep moving forward. She also has a great deal of heart, being the first to sit down with Alvin after all of his screw ups and be willing to try and understand him as well as offer him her friendship again. If you open up to her on an emotional level, even if you screw up - she's likely to show at least some sympathy. She also understands the feeling of being alone, with no one else on your side - and tends to take the side of those who have no one else in their corner.

Abilities: Elize is a master of abilities called artes, and performs a wide range of them with the assistance of her best friend Teepo - a booster. She's capable of performing strong artes and melee attacks. Her weapon is a wand that prioritizes the strength of artes, as opposed to physical. By itself, they are just differently decorated short sticks meant to help people channel mana and make their attacks even stronger.

When linked with someone, her partner ability is 'Teepo Drain', in which Teepo takes energy from enemies and converts it into HP and TP for her linked partner.

Other: At the end of the game, Elize puts Teepo away in a box - a step towards independence - a sign that she wants to learn to speak for herself and grow a little stronger still.

SAMPLES
First Person: post

Third Person: From inside the shop, if you glance out the front window for a moment, you might catch a blond head of hair and then a small face peering in from the outside. Elize had come shopping with her family, but they had gone their separate ways, each having their own things to buy. So Elize had shyly been browsing from the outside, different buildings that caught her eye. This one, however, it was the smells that really caught her attention. With at least an hour remaining before she needed to meet up with her family again, she decided to check it out for herself.

It was a cute cafe with adorable interior design and a lot of delicious smells coming from the inside. It was fairly busy, and full of different customers chatting away or enjoying their orders. Elize heard her tummy rumble and decided to step inside the Honeybee Cafe and get a little something to snack on.

After she was handed a small, cute bag with her pastry, she looked around anxiously for a place to sit. Sitting by herself was pretty much out of the question. So she rocked on her toes, took a deep breath, and gathered her courage to find someone friendly looking that she might be able to sit with.

"Um... excuse me. Do you mind if I sit here?" Her eyes shift a little, nervously, but she stands her ground, a small smile on her lips. If she wanted to make new friends she would have to be the one to reach out.

Re: Eric Soult | K | Not Reserved

[personal profile] redstray 2013-09-02 01:44 am (UTC)(link)
History: Here
Appearance: : Eric is a tall, lanky slim built guy. He has shoulder length blond hair and bangs that can easily hide his blue eyes. He generally wears a blue and white hoodie that’s a bit too big for him with camo capris pants and loafers. One ref and another ref
Personality: Eric is a very blunt young man that almost always comes off as rude in the beginning. When he first goes to Homra, Eric refuses to speak anything but English to Yata because Yata had been rude in their first meeting. Only after gentle prodding from another member of the group, Fujishima, does he begin to say things more politely. Because of the way he lived before that, he didn’t need any manners. Or rather, his manners were linked to the way he was believed to be, a dog.

He is also a very quiet person. Generally seen just sitting and not moving from that spot for hours at a time, or following someone else as they do an errand, Eric is very awkward in actual social situations. Having a hard time giving his opinions (unless to make fun of something or someone) or talking about himself, he is either soft spoken and shy or snaps at people; there is rarely an in-between. He needs to be kept an eye on him at times, because he rarely eats, either forgetting or refusing to do so, because he feels that he hasn’t done anything to deserve it.

Eric does not think very highly of himself. Because of the environment he had lived in for quite some time, he refers to himself as a dog, something that obeys orders from his master and receives food as a reward. If his use were to dry up, he would be killed, so he tried to remain useful in order to live. Even though he wasn’t treated nicely by his former group, he remained because of his loyalty, saying that it was his whole world before Homra had defeated them. He had never even thought, or believed that he deserved, to ask for help, believing he was nothing more than a lowlife dog. Now that he is a part of Homra, Eric sticks with them; Homra is his new home. His loyalty to them showed even earlier, when he was shocked and worried over accidentally hurting Fujishima, whom had saved his life and helped him while he stayed at the bar. He had been trying to kill Totsuka at the time, as he had been ordered to. He had to kill Totsuka or Mikoto, or die trying. Even though he had tried to follow through with it, he wasn’t thinking of killing anyone, it was mainly just for survival.
Having some of his childhood taken away from him, Eric can act sometimes innocently towards something he’s never experienced, seen, or heard before. He hasn’t had many opportunities that a lot of other people have had and do on a daily basis. He’s gotten excited at the thought of shopping and buying a present for Anna, whose birthday was approaching, having probably never done that, or at least not since he had gone into Hikawa.

Because of his time with Homra, however, Eric has gotten better and has opened up. No longer as awkward as he was before, he is able to voice his opinion on occasion, eat a bit more frequently, and be able to interact with more people. He still is quiet and shy and can still be rude and blunt to others he doesn’t know as well, or doesn’t like. His manners have improved though he will occasionally forget them. Homra’s influence has given him a better life and has slowly been replacing his bad memories with good ones.

Characters Name: Franziska von Karma
Age: 13
Canon: Ace Attorney
Canon Point: Case 4, Ace Attorney Investigations
Species: human
Gender: female
Orientation: She's thirteen and nothing's set in stone.

History: link
Appearance: here
Personality:
At the age of thirteen, Franziska von Karma has yet to become a prosecutor. Taken from her canon the summer before she takes her bar exam, she has yet to be disillusioned by the realities of law, the justice system and her family. She wholeheartedly believes in their family creed: "to be perfect in every way", and no one is more perfect than her own father: Manfred von Karma. Though she lived most of her life in Germany and her father practices law in the United States, her relationship with him is one of hero worship and dependence. In her own words, her father is the "anchor of her life" and without him, she wouldn't know where to go. Her father provides her with anything she could ever want, and in turn she made it her life's goal to be a prosecutor just like him... and her so-called little brother.

Overall, Franziska is a little girl with a superiority complex. She graduated university earlier than everyone else. She's about to get that job that makes her better than everyone else. She's from a prestigious family, with good breeding and good manners (in her opinion). As far as she's concerned, she's better than you and whatever you may come to be. That is why she's a bratty and bossy child.. She orders grown men around like she's their boss because in her mind, she already is. She hits them with her crop because they're fools and they deserve the punishment. (Or reward, depending on how close to a smile their winces of pain look like.) And does her father let her act like this? Yes, pretty much. Manfred isn't a very hands-on parent.

But there's one person who could make Franziska feel inferior, and that's Miles Edgeworth, who her father took under his wing when she was two. Franziska had to work hard to graduate at the age of thirteen. Edgeworth took to Manfred's teachings quicker than she did. Edgeworth works with Manfred in the United States. She was left behind in Germany. He's her adopted little brother (even if he's older and he's not really adopted) yet he's shaping up to be a better son to her father. She has a vicious competitive streak that gets worse when he's around, as she constantly makes contests out of things with the prize being who's more deserving to inherit the von Karma name. While she might claim to not like him, they do care for each other, even if their conversations are usually condescending in nature. Their relationship was described by a random guard to be a dysfucntional little sister-big brother relationship, to which Franziska's main objection was on who happens to be the younger sibling.

Despite her attachments to her family, she was raised away from them. And she doesn't have many friends her age, as one would expect of someone who graduated university at the age of thirteen. She speaks like an adult but has the temper of a brat. And she hates being treated as a child. She's not entirely unkind. Most of the time she believes that she's doing the right thing. And she does show some empathy when Kay Faraday's father dies. But she has a long way to go in terms of maturity, and the harder she tries, the more frustrated and childish she becomes.

Give her six more years and she'll grow up to be that whip-toting, revenge-seeking, spiky-haired-attorney-chasing we know today.
Abilities: squishy human girl with no supernatural abilities whatsoever

First Person:

What foolish manner of foolishness is this?!

First you abduct me, then you provide me with this hovel and now you would like me to believe that another man is my father? This man can't even compare to Papa! That would be akin to comparing a foolish ant to a planet! A mere mortal to a god! A vending machine bought pastry with the finest cakes in Germany! My Papa is a great man, a noble man, a man with strength [ she swings a very supple stick ] and conviction [ and again ]! And when he finds out, because he will find out, your boots better be big enough to hide in because there shall be no escape.

[ Clearing her throat, because that is what grown-ups do. ]

Nevertheless [ she wags her finger condescendingly at the screen ], this fool of a lessor need not wait for my Papa's wrath. I, Franziska von Karma, prodigy, shall deliver it with full force. I may not be a prosecutor yet, but that doesn't mean that I would let a foolish criminal run without impunity. Just you wait. Justice will be served.

Third Person:

She never had to go grocery shopping before. But here she is, with a basket full of groceries (milk, nutritious cookies, nutritious pastries and other essentials), standing in front of the cereal shelf. She grabbed one box of cornflakes, turns it around to read its nutritional facts and squints. It's healthy, that much she can admit, but regular cornflakes taste bland. She grabs another box, one with raisins and almonds in it, but it was a cheap brand. Who knows what those inferior ingredients could do to her health?

She looks up and finds a box of quality cereal on the top shelf. And it has honey clusters. Honey clusters! Those are healthy and go great with milk. She shoves her boxes back on the shelf and reaches up to get the expensive one. She can't. She's too short. She scowls and tries again. Nope, that half-second wait did not miraculously make her taller. She jumps. Still no dice.

Letting out a slightly undignified grunt of frustration, she kicks the shelf.

History: CAN I USE THIS? It's a wikia. . . . .
Appearance: She's small, petite with blonde hair and blue eyes. Here is a good picture of her, although there is blood.
Personality:
The first time we see Lily Rammsteiner, she's bright—a little ditzy, a little air-headed and a little slow. If she were a shounen character, she'd be the cheer of the group, the one who smiles even in the face of hardship.

However, she's not. Moreover, she doesn't have the sort of willpower that shounen characters all typically have - no, Lily is a coward and Lily is weak; that's why, when the little voice that tells her to let go of everything and do what she'd like best, do what pleases her, do what's fun (some might call this voice the devil; Lily knows it's herself), she lets go. To be fair, her situation is a pretty shitty one - she was reared up as a child of destruction, a living weapon and forced to fight day in and day out. As a result, Lily's initial personality - one of happiness and sunshine - is tainted, darkened by the fear that haunts her life, the fear of dying, the fear of not being good enough, the fear of being discarded. Losing herself becomes her coping mechanism, but at the same time, losing herself becomes something she fears, too - because she doesn't remember, everything becomes black and she wakes up again with blood on her hands that might be her brother's. Lily recognizes it's not something she should do - she doesn't want to hurt her siblings! But it's something that she finds herself slipping into, over and over again, and it's so much easier for her to lose control, because it makes her feel better. Fear rules over her life, and Lily just wants it all to stop.

Nevertheless, she does try to keep herself from succumbing to the voice - but she's largely dependent on Heine to bring her back from her rampage. In fact, she's largely reliant on Heine - and her siblings - for her mental and emotional support. Without Heine, Lily becomes frantic and panicked - he's her one, faithful comfort. When she's scared, he comforts her, and when she goes berserk, he stops her - and when she can't be brought back, he's the only one who can kill her. Although Lily doesn't consciously acknowledge this fact, perhaps it's another reason why she keeps him so close - because she doesn't want to hurt her family, her siblings and her comrades, the only people she's known her life, and she knows Heine is the single person who could best stop her from killing them.

At least, there's one other coping method that Lily goes to - not that it works very well. She becomes despondent, zoning out of the conversation and retreating to the depths of her so that she doesn't have to think about her fear. This, however, doesn't work when there's a current, real danger - when there is, she's the fastest person to go berserk and start killing. Thankfully, in Holly Heights, a large part of her fear will disappear - not only will she not be without the voice that comes with her collar and her invulnerability, but she's also no longer subject to experiments and with the fear of certain, inevitable death in the laboratory. That being said, that doesn't mean she won't be scared of anything at all - having been locked up underground for all her life, Lily doesn't have any basic concept of any natural thing - not the sky, not clouds, not even the sun or the grass or flowers or freedom. She won't know what to do with herself when she doesn't have a schedule, when she doesn't have any regulated meals or experiments, when she can make her own decisions. It's scary, and it's completely unlike her canon at all - but, the good thing is that she doesn't have the voice at all. In other words, her first coping method is completely out of the question - there's no voice to tell her to let go have fun, much less any strength to go berserk with.

Also thankfully, there's nothing to be scared of in Holly Heights! Because of its slice-of-life setting, and because violence above the comedic sort seem to be scarce, if not completely out of the picture, Lily will ( although still frightened and fearful of everything ) be able to come out of her traumatized shell and return to her cheery self. She'll learn to interact with people - but a problem Lily might face while in game is extreme jealousy. Being so tightly knit with her family in canon, and being around them all the time, Lily is needy - especially of Heine's attention - and being apart from him, being shown that Heine is growing without her, might prove to become a problem. She is, after all, just a human girl - and her psyche is fragile already, to the point that she's incredibly dependent on Heine, and to an extent, Giovanni. However, at least for Giovanni, she'll want his attention, want to be around him, but not his comfort - she doesn't rely on Giovanni so much as they mutually rely on each other, clinging to each other and mutually co-dependent.

Besides that, she's naturally a ditzy and all-smiles girl with a vast imagination - although she's become severely crippled by her upbringing, Lily is capable of change, and with the right nurturing, Lily can return to the bright and cheery girl that she was when she first woke up - it just takes time. However, as I've said before, she doesn't have great willpower - if she doesn't develop inner strength in Holly Heights, her regain will be an inevitable backslide all the way to her canonical personality, being scared of everything and unable to smile without trembling. Hopefully, though, this will be developed in time for her to keep from completely somersaulting and backflipping into auto-berserking when she gets scared.

Abilities: As a genetically modified human, Lily is capable of nearly-instant regeneration, as well as fighting - with her bare hands, or with a gun that she's also capable of using. However, when she fights it is after she's succumbed to the little voice in her head, so she is unable to control herself, effectively going berserk and killing everything - both enemies and friends. But she's really good at killing!!!!!!!
Other: Lily's collar is essentially part of her spine and her nervous system, so I'm wondering if her entire collar will be gone or if it will just be de-activated!

Re: Hanako Ikezawa | Katawa Shoujo | Reserved

[personal profile] timidscars 2013-09-03 09:45 pm (UTC)(link)
History: Hanako's childhood began fairly normally, up until she was eight. On the night of her eighth birthday as she and her parents were sleeping, a fire started. Her mother shielded her from the flames, and died in the process. Her father perished as well in the fire. Only Hanako was pulled out of the burning house alive, although she suffered severe burns over the right half of her body. Alive, but in critical condition, she was brought to a hospital where she spent several months recovering from her burns. She made it, but was horribly scarred in more ways than one. She blamed herself for her parents' deaths and wishes she had never been born, as if she had never existed, her parents would not have perished in the fire.

Once she was well enough, Hanako was brought to an orphanage. Here she began to develop her self-consciousness and fear of others. The fact that she was bullied throughout middle school due to her scars certainly didn't help any. Although the staff at the orphanage treated her kindly, she felt like an outcast. People constantly stared at her scars, unnerving her. The only escape she found from everything was reading books in the orphanage's library. She watched as other children were adopted until she was one of the oldest left.

Instead of going on to high school, Hanako was instead sent to Yamaku Academy, a private school specifically for disabled children. Although she was in a place where everyone had their own scars, disfigurements, or other ailments, there were still those who stared at her and judged her. She took to skipping class from time to time, hiding in the library where it was quiet and she could be alone. The school also made her see a therapist during her stay, hoping to help her. She eventually met a blind girl named Lilly, whose dorm room was next to her own. Lilly became the first person to actually 'see' who Hanako was beneath the scars. The two soon became nearly inseparable friends, although Hanako's psyche still didn't improve much.

She still preferred solitude and quiet, rather than the company of anyone other than Lilly, although she soon befriended Lilly's sister Akira as well. However, she still had a tendency to skip class to be alone. As her birthday approached, she'd become more and more distant, a husk of a person. On her birthday, she shuts herself in her dorm room, refusing contact with anyone. Although she would eventually come back out after a few days of solitude, it worried Lilly greatly. Lilly acted almost like a mother figure towards her, as well as a friend. Hanako deep down didn't like the fact that Lilly seemed to go out of her way to protect her, but never spoke up about it.

Hanako and Lilly would have lunch together everyday in a quiet room that few ever went to. They ended up referring to it as the tea room, and became one of Hanako's sanctuaries. Sometimes Hanako would cook something for lunch to share with Lilly, although she wasn't the best at it. They would also occasionally play a game of chess, one of the few things she enjoyed. During what was to be her final year at Yamaku, a new student was transferred into her class. A young man named Nakai Hisao. As he introduced himself and looked over the class, she shyly covered her face. She met him again later while she was reading a book in her corner of the library. Hisao walked over to her and began trying to talk to her, which startled her. She remained for a moment before retreating, too shy to be capable of holding a conversation.

As the days passed, Hisao began showing up to the tea room, having been invited by Lilly to have lunch with them. Still rather nervous, her conversations were short, but she slowly became more comfortable around him as she got to know him better, and would become her second friend since her arrival at Yamaku. The trio would meet for lunch nearly every day, and Hanako opens up a bit towards Hisao. Eventually, Hanako's birthday approaches, and Hisao and Lilly decide to throw her a little party beforehand, as Lilly had to travel to Scotland to see her parents. She actually enjoys the party, and her gifts from them both. Then Akira shows up and her gift? Wine. For the three minors. Needless to say, the three of them get drunk and end up spending the night in Lilly's dorm room. Nothing happens between the three of them, except for the nasty hangover they'd receive in the morning.

When Lilly and Akira leave for Scotland, Hanako accompanies Hisao to see them off and wish them a safe trip. School went by fairly normally for the next few days. Then Hanako stopped appearing in class as it got closer to her birthday. She shut herself away in her dorm, not wanting to come out or see anyone. Hisao stops by to deliver handouts from their class, but she stayed silent. He remarks to himself that she seemed almost like an empty husk. This goes on for several days, before Hisao tries to reason with Hanako, and threatens to call Lilly. She simply tells him to go away, not even answering the door. He gives up and calls Lilly anyway, who informs him that the same thing happened the year before, and she would come out when she was ready.

Several days after Hanako's 18th birthday had passed, she did indeed start returning to class and her normal activities. Then Lilly and Akira returned, which Hanako was glad for. With the holidays coming up, Akira offers to let the trio stay at her summer cabin for the holidays in Hokkaido. They do end up traveling to the cabin for the holidays and plan to have an enjoyable vacation. However, Hisao begins to have a heart attack, which horrifies Hanako and Lilly, which forces them to go back to the cabin while he recovered. It's after this that Lilly tells Hanako that she and Hisao are now dating, which Hanako approves of, glad for her friends.

They return to school and their normal routines after the holidays. At some point, Hanako is approached by Natsume Ooe, and Naomi Inoue, members of the newspaper club with an offer to join them. Hanako accepts the offer, and ends up doing rather well, mainly with computer work for the school newspaper. She ends up befriending the two, and occasionally spent time with them when she wasn't hanging out with Lilly and Hisao, which was now somewhat less frequently now that the other two were dating.

Nearing the end of the school year, Lilly reveals to Hanako and Hisao that she will be leaving for Scotland again, but this time for good. Hanako accepts this, knowing that they would still be friends, and wishes her well. She then plans to spend her summer vacation with her friends from the newspaper club, traveling across Japan. This is the point where she is being taken from.

Appearance: Right here~

Personality: Hanako is an extremely reclusive and quiet girl, who seems to be afraid of other people to the point that she will panic from most social contact. This is mainly due to her appearance. As a child, she barely survived a fire that killed the rest of her family that left her horribly scarred both physically and emotionally. She is very self-conscious about her appearance, often covering her scars with her hand or a hat. If she's being stared at, she becomes extremely nervous, and will leave the area in search of a place where she can be alone or with someone she trusts.

In addition to her fear of others, she hates herself deep down, blaming herself for her parents' deaths. She's prone to panic attacks when cornered or certain things are brought up - especially her birthday, as the accident that killed her family happened on her birthday. One thing she despises the most is being treated as weak. She doesn't like to be reminded that she's broken, especially from people she's trusted. Hanako finds it very hard to trust people due to her own psyche and the fact that others have always seemed to stare, make fun of, or bully her due to her appearance. The only person she truly trusted at first was a blind girl named Lilly, another student at Yamaku Academy. As Lilly was blind, she couldn't judge Hanako based on her appearance as others did, and they became nearly inseparable friends. However, she did end up making a few other good friends whom she was able to trust as well. Those who looked past the scars and just wanted to befriend the girl beneath them.

Although Hanako shies away from contact with others, there are things she enjoys, which are the few times when she rarely smiles and opens up a little. She spends most of her time in the school library reading, and when feeling stressed will often skip class to sit in a back corner and read. She also has a slightly competitive side, shown when she plays chess or other games. She also spends time having tea with Lilly on a regular basis, and sometimes even likes to try and cook, although Lilly suggests that it doesn't always go well. Even if she isn't the greatest at some of her hobbies, it doesn't stop her from trying to succeed at them.

Hanako is very soft spoken, and people often have a hard time hearing her. She tends to think a lot about what she's going to say, as if she's afraid she'll mess up, although she does stutter often. When she's relaxed, she doesn't stutter as much, but it increases when she's stressed, and her whole body becomes visibly rigid and she may begin to shake. From the point Hanako is being taken from, she isn't quite as nervous around others as she used to be, due to her friendships with Lilly and Hisao. She even goes so far as to join the newspaper club, becoming friends with its members, and planning to spend her summer vacation with them, as Lilly was leaving for Scotland.

Abilities: None

Other: Hanako has no special powers or abilities. She does however have an unhealthy habit of being extremely antisocial, as well as shutting herself in around her birthday. Hanako is also prone to panic attacks, and appears to suffer from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.

History: Hetalia-Wiki & Actual History
Appearance: here?? but no, seriously, here. THE FACES ARE ACCURATE, OKAY???
Personality: Stalwart and by the book, Germany is a very serious sort of guy. He has a very commanding and sometimes intimidating demeanor about him, one that makes it hard to tell the difference between a lecture and a regular conversation. While it can be hard to tell at first, he's really just a gruff sort of person; a guy that's prone to yell and make his irritation rather clear if he can't keep it contained any longer (which does tend to happen). Rarely is there ever a smile on his face and it's difficult to catch him at a moment when he's actually relaxed, for those moments seem to be few and far between. There will be more on that later, though, I promise!

He's the type to follow the rules to the letter, the guy that reads the whole manual to take in every single detail. While this does make him rather efficient and almost unwaveringly loyal in many cases, it also makes him weak in the sense that he's obligated to follow orders even when it's something that he doesn't agree with or stick with people that he's not necessarily fond of. It's safe to say that if he makes a promise to someone or comes to some kind of agreement, he's not likely to go back on it. He's definitely a man of his word, even in cases where such a thing would make him suffer himself; it actually sometimes can border a little more on stubbornness than anything else though. Since he is so big on rules, it almost goes without saying that he's rather strict in many aspects.

He doesn't have a high tolerance for mistakes or messes or cowardice (don't even get him started on how irritating whining can be), preferring for things to be neat and tidy. If you make a mess while cooking, he'll be there to clean it up before the mess really sets in. He's the sort to question whether you should really be doing something if all you're going to do is make a mess out of it (or the kitchen). Going along with this, he is very detail oriented and into collecting data; be it about a person or a place (I mean, let's be real, he had a journal devoted to Italy's every day activities). He takes great pride in all that he does, preferring to make sure that his work is done well and avoiding shortcuts.

All of this makes for a seemingly confident person, even though he does lean more toward being pessimistic. His stoic and angry personality does waver at times though, particularly when it comes to talking to women or about relationships. In these instances he becomes rather flustered and embarrassed, making communication particularly difficult. While he can't really talk to grown women and doesn't really make the effort unless it's business related, he seems to have no trouble talking to younger ones and acting as a father figure to them (grade school or younger only). He's also not very good at taking compliments, becoming flustered at those as well (or more speechless, rather).

Underneath all those layers, there is a slightly different personality; though it doesn't really show itself all that often. He likes to cook, particularly sweets, though that is more of a guilty pleasure and not something that he would ever broadcast to others. It's more like a secret hobby, all things considered, and he seems quite happy when he has time like this to himself. It also seems to make him rather content to read and spend time with his pets (dogs, of course). It is also indicated that he likes to makes things with his hands and do delicate work, but it can be problematic sometimes because he feels he's too meticulous and his fingers are too 'fat'. This side is definitely rarely seen, because it's hard for him to trust other people and really 'be himself'.
Abilities: He doesn't really have any 'special' abilities, I don't think. He's good at yelling and I suppose there's other typical country stuff? Good constitution and healing stuff.

Michael Arclight (III) | Yu-gi-oh! ZeXal | Reserved

[personal profile] roseatepuzzler 2013-10-01 05:10 am (UTC)(link)
History: (I apologise if these links cause any confusion—the wikia prioritises dub names over original names.)
 ~ here & here ~

Appearance: Slightly petite for his age, Michael is roughly 160cm. He's somewhat shorter than his eldest brother was at the same age. Though, to be fair, his brother is ridiculously tall. Michael also takes after his father less than his brothers. He's slight and more on the lithe side, so an educated guess at his weight would put him at around 45kg. He has short, two-toned pink hair, with a lighter rose on top and a burnished maroon beneath. Three sections of whorled bangs frame his rather large, rather expressive green eyes. In general, Michael tends towards brighter tones and colours in his choice of clothing. In a word, he's cute.

Personality: Michael is a well-natured, well-mannered, and well-meaning young man. He's the youngest brother of the Arclight siblings and, as could be expected, he exhibits several symptoms of being the last-born. It is fairly obvious that he is the favourite child. Even when he and his brothers were much younger, he would be given gifts when his brothers were not. (Incidentally, these gifts would be cards related to things that their father was researching. These cards would become Michael's favourites, and so he is greatly influenced what by his father devoted his life to.) This favouritism caused some tension with his older brother Thomas—the middle child—but it's easy to see that any strife this may have caused, did not cause serious physical altercations or engender ill-feelings between the brothers. If anything Thomas' jealousy has subliminated over the years into part of his nuanced inferiority complex but, as for Michael, he does not naturally hold grudges for things done against him. (For things done against his family, however—that is a more complicated matter.) He is also nothing but loyal, loving, and protective of his brothers. In fact he cherishes time spent with them and derives pleasure from doing things for them. Though that isn't to say that he isn't above manipulating them from time to time. He knows that he can, and that they will let him. As such, he's not used to being told no. This of course causes problems.

Other tell-tale signs of being the baby of the family he displays include being slightly spoilt, being sensitive to others in the extreme, being slightly touchy-feeling (tactile), being eager to please, being a bit of a show-off, being used to being afforded some respect, and being more highly favoured. Michael is afforded more respect than Thomas by both their older brother, Chris, and their father, Tron. He does not gloat about being considered more reliable than Thomas, but that does not mean that being treated in such a way does not go to his head. He takes his role in the family's mission very seriously, but then this is also due to his dutiful nature.

The thing is, Michael is extremely easy to manipulate in the right circumstances. Tron takes advantage of this when he needs to have Yuuma removed from the field to ensure that his plans are secure. At this time Tron is no longer the father figure Michael recalls from his memories—Tron used to be Byron Arclight, a highly intelligent, highly respected, and highly successful scientist who worked with physics and different dimension theories. Byron was partners with a man named Dr Faker, for whom Michael's brother Christopher was also working as an assistant. Eventually Dr Faker sacrificed the lives of Byron and Yuuma's father in order to gain access to an alternate dimension known as the Barian realm, from whence he acquired the power to save the life of his youngest son, Haruto. This act orphaned Michael and his brothers. Chris attempted to find his father while Michael and Thomas were sent to stay in an orphanage. When Chris was unable to find their father, he left Heartland with his brothers.

That was until their father miraculously reappeared—or at least someone like him did. What they got back in their lives was not their father Byron, but a child-like man named Tron. Because Byron had fallen into the cracks between the dimensions, he had roamed there and been transformed into a diminutive figure with no sense of compunction. The only thing Tron says he can feel is the need for revenge, though he cannot feel hate or rage, not in anyway that matters. He needs his sons to feel these emotions for him.

So this is where Michael's sensitivity comes into play. Michael is fiercely loyal and protective of his family, and when Tron declares that their mission is revenge against Dr Faker, Michael really takes that message to heart. At one point he declares that he has no capacity for anything other than revenge, that all he can feel is hate. He says this even as he is in the midst of crying after breaking down and realising that his family is no longer what it once was, and it isn't how he wants it to be. He is convinced that the only way to save his family and make them happy again is to defeat Yuuma and sacrifice Dr Faker's son, Haruto. And though he is firmly convicted about doing anything necessary for the family's cause, at times he seems hesitant or to be having moral qualms. After witnessing Yuuma's duelling first hand, Michael grows interested in Yuuma. Unlike his brothers, he senses that something is different between what drives Yuuma, and what drives them. And what is different is, is their motivation—they are all fighting to protect something dear, but their methods are very much different. That is, Yuuma would not hurt someone for the sake of his mission. Michael is able to realise this, and he accepts that Yuuma would never fight for revenge, and he admires Yuuma, but in the end he remains loyal to his family and his goal to save them, and so challenges Yuuma to a duel. He is touched by Yuuma, but he is also willing to sacrifice him on the alter of his family's (and his own) ambition, if that is what it comes to. This also reflects Michael's more internalised, sensing, and holistic nature. When confronted with something that is making him anxious or doubtful, Michael will observe, engage, reflect, and then draw conclusions. However, that does not mean that he will always take things to their logical conclusion in a meaningful, insightful, and honest way. He may admit consequences, but he may not face them. This is a sign of his immaturity (and, let's be fair, his age!)

Michael is also the only one in the Arclight family who shows concern for Haruto when Haruto is being harmed by Tron (though he does not stop Tron from hurting the boy, again giving a greater weight to what his family needs, versus what his conscious needs.) All the while Michael feels isolated, lonely, and lost despite having regained his family but he does not vocalise this. All of this only comes out when he breaks down later on. But for now it's worth noting how far down the hole Michael will drive himself for the sake of his family, of his own volition. It's remarkable how far he will go in order to obtain what he wants, which is to have back his happy, normal family that's proud of him.

In order to bring about the conditions to defeat Yuuma, Michael willingly undergoes an excruciating procedure to obtain a new power. His father also gives him two cards which will help him obtain victory, though victory with them would most likely come at the cost of his very own soul. At first Michael does not hesitate to use such dangerous tools for the sake of his family. In fact he becomes downright cruel and callous and almost capricious—becoming much like his brother Thomas—when it comes down to defeating Yuuma. He tears down him bit by bit. He alters his memories, literally steals his self-confidence, apparently kills Yuuma's partner Astral, and separates Yuuma from his group of friends. Michael also abuses beloved cards he received from his father before his father changed. All the while Michael laughs manically; the deconstruction he's engaging in could be said to be giving him a sense of sadistic satisfaction.

But this is not quite the case. What happens is that Michael is overwhelmed by his loneliness and sorrow and, under the influence of the powers he has been given, he becomes not submerged, but he snaps. Though he's usually collected, conscientious, and a sweetheart, between the pressure from his family, the pressure he puts on himself, and Yuuma's insisting on being able “to understand” him, the darkness, bitterness, resentment, and jealousy in him break out.

It's interesting that much of what Michael takes away from Yuuma are things that Michael himself lacks: friends, unwavering self-confidence and a sense of security, his support system, etc. He's also willing to sacrifice things he used to value to get what he wants. What he's doing, is engaging in essentially a mighty, violent catharsis because he's a spoilt child who's—among other things jealous—of Yuuma, for having what he regards as an “easy life” compared to his own. This jealousy is tied up with a discomfort with himself that Michael doesn't actually admit to having, but it's fairly evident in an earlier episode. He begins crying when seated at Yuuma's family's table because he's so touched by the familial atmosphere. His own family is not like this—and yet this is exactly how he wishes that they could be once more. This is what cements Michael's conviction to take Yuuma on in a duel even though Michael knows that duelling for revenge and hurting Haruto are not good. He makes his decision, he will do what needs to be done to get what he wants. Then during their duel, Yuuma rubs Michael raw by insisting that he can understand him through duelling. This kind of attitude must strike Michael as flippant, dismissive, and enraging. For someone who's spoilt and not happy with himself because he can't have something, it's just too much.

It sets him over the edge.

And so over the course of their duel Michael works through his rage. At the end, Michael is severely worn down by using the powers given to him, and he reverts back to his default self. He's unwilling to hurt Yuuma and his friends any longer. Michael loses the duel and, before falling into a coma, he declares that Yuuma is his first real friend and beseeches Yuuma to save his family. During their duel it seems that Michael is displaying confidence but, what it really is, is that's he's carried away by a hideous abandon that he's finally allowed himself. It's not until after the duel, and his family is returned to something like normalcy, that Michael is able to finally cultivate a healthy sense of self-confidence. It's also clear from this experience with Yuuma that Michael thinks of himself as a protector.

This marks a major turning point for Michael as a character: for the first time he's looking outside of his family for help. And, not only is he trusting someone outside of his family for the first time, he's also allowing responsibility to fall elsewhere, at least for a while. Otherwise Michael is prone to taking a wealth of responsibility onto himself. When his brothers Thomas and Chris get into a squabble, he tries to keep the peace between them. Later on, when he appears again to help Yuuma, he feels a strong sense of duty towards his friend. He also feels responsible for what he did to Astral, and wishes to repay that debt. Though he smiles often and easily, he can become quite serious!

Characters Name: Itachi Uchiha
Age: 21
Canon: Naruto
Canon Point: Post death and revival by the reanimation jutsu. After he releases everyone from said jutsu.
Species: ninja human
Gender: male
Orientation: Asexual by choice. As his goals were meant to lead to his eventual death, getting into a relationship wasn't even an afterthought - nor was he the sort to engage in casual sex in the meanwhile. It simply wasn't on the agenda. He might be a little more open to it after his death, but he wouldn't seek out that sort of company on his own and if anything did form, it would take quite some time to develop. As far as being married in the game goes, gender will not be an issue for him and either will be treated the same.

History: Naruto Wiki

As I draw only from the manga, the anime filler arc mentioned in part II does not come into play.

Appearance: About 5'10" with long dark hair that he keeps in a ponytail aside from bangs that fall on either side of his face. Japanese in appearance and fairly pale. He has lines under each eye that make him appear older and/or more evil than he really is. His left eye is permanently shut and won't open. His right iris is black, but can change to red. (Image with both eyes.)

Personality:
It's said in the manga that, having seen a great many atrocities at the end of the second ninja war, Itachi had the wisdom of a Hokage (the leaders of their village) by the age of seven. While this may be a bit of a stretch, it's true that he's always been mature beyond his years, as seen by how quickly he progressed through the ranks. He was aware of the dark nature inherent in his clan and the eye techniques they inherited and actually feared for the safety of the whole village because of this. He was more capable of seeing the bigger picture.

Unfortunately it was because of this that he ended up getting drawn into the situation that he did. In the end, he chose the safety of the entire village over that of his clan, and thus was instrumental in the latter's demise.

He loved his brother more than anything, which is why his condition for murdering his own kin was that Sasuke alone got to live. He thought that by filling his brother with hatred for him that he could become the villain and their family's name wouldn't be tarnished in his eyes. Once Sasuke completed his revenge, he would return to the village and start the clan anew.

This isn't how it happened, of course, as his brother's hatred was easily manipulated so that he followed a darker path, deciding to destroy the village instead. Though Itachi's words to him after his resurrection have him at an impasse (so not all hope is lost there) Itachi counts this whole matter as a failure and leaves the task of saving his brother to Naruto, who he thinks is more capable.

His problem, as he later admits, is that he took everything into his own hands and didn't trust others to help him see it through. He took every precaution imaginable, but in the end his method was based around shallow lies that were easily later uncovered and he had no one to back him up should something go wrong. He blames this decision on arrogance, and the belief that he was strong enough to handle anything. Itachi warns Naruto, when it appears as though the boy is trying to take everything on his own shoulders as well, that this path will only lead to failure, and that he should rely on those who believe in him to help as well.

Throughout the series, we see Itachi as a soft-spoken but cold individual. He easily overpowers Naruto, Sasuke, and the others in early encounters, and yet in the end has an odd way of leaving them alive despite the fact that he could have killed them easily if necessary. This was mostly so that he could continue to foster hatred in his brother, but also served as a method of testing out the strengths of his friends just in case. The possibility that things would not go as he'd planned wasn't lost on him, which is why he would later leave a genjutsu in Naruto that was meant to stop his brother from attacking the village as a last resort. (Though this would then be used to stop him instead, which was probably for the best as this way Sasuke can make the decision not to attack the Leaf Village on his own, rather than being ordered to through genjutsu.)

Planning for his death at the hands of his brother is what allowed Itachi to live with the guilt of what he'd done to his family. Sasuke would bring him to justice. He hardened his heart, lied, and said and did whatever he needed to in order to foster that hatred in him. (And it could be said that some of his own self-loathing was twisted around and forced upon his sibling in that effort.) Even having been brought back to life, simply reminding him of what he's done won't be enough to get much of a rise out of him, as he's been living with it for years. That isn't to say that he can't angst with the best of them, but it's typically saved for moments of quiet contemplation.

Although this world offers a peaceful existence, he doesn't think he deserves such a life and Sasuke deserves to be living back in the world they came from. His brother still has things he wants to accomplish. He will be displeased to find himself in his new surroundings because of this.

He has very few hobbies outside of training, as he just didn't have time for them. The official stat books says he enjoys visiting confectioneries. I play him as a vegetarian, as it makes sense for his character and his favorite/least favorite foods also make it a strong possibility.

Abilities:
Itachi is an incredibly capable ninja with a wide array of techniques at his disposal. Most involve the use of his Sharingan, an eye technique inherent to his particular clan that makes them incredibly powerful and can only be unlocked through strong emotions (generally hatred). Without this, he is also able to use both fire and water elemental attacks. A full list of his abilities is shown on the right bar of the page linked in his history earlier. The only one he doesn't have access to at this point in canon is the Tsukuyomi, as that was specifically tied to his left eye. He of course won't have access to any of his genjutsu or ninjutsu in the game.

Aside from this, he is highly physically capable - though his stamina will be greatly lessened due to the removal of his illness (It was already lessened because of it before his death). If he was losing sight in his remaining eye before he died, it was likely restored with the Edo Tensei, so I'm going to allow him full use of it. He has extremely high accuracy as well.

Other: When he used the genjutsu he did to stop Kabuto so he could end the Edo Tensei, his eye remained opened but dulled. Technically the eye should have shut completely, as was shown to happen with the eyes Danzo stole once he used a similar powerful technique with them. I believe the fact that it didn't is a result of the zombie-ish state Itachi was in at the time. Now in a fully living body, the eye will shut itself and remain that way.

First Person:
If you could go back in time - only within the span of your lifetime, mind you - and change one thing, would you do it? Do you think you'd have the right, knowing how the choices you've currently made affected your life and that of those around you? Do you think it would be as simple as making one decision differently, or do you think outside factors had too much of an influence in the long run?

...I apologize. I'm not usually the sort to come forward with these sorts of existential questions. Perhaps it's because I've been here long enough to see how commonplace they are as a means of filling time.

I don't want exact details. Your personal lives are your own. But sometimes we all have to ponder what we'd do if we had such an opportunity, and how much things would change should we use it. It doesn't seem so impossible now, does it?

Or perhaps it's best not to think on it too much at all, as we might get our hopes up for something that will never come to pass.

IC INFORMATION
Characters Name: Alit
Age: A couple thousand give or take, appears 13 in human form.
Canon: Yu-Gi-Oh! Zexal (note: Uses dub names along with all other links)
Canon Point: Post episode 86
Species: Barian
Gender: Male
Orientation: Alit is clearly portrayed as bisexual in canon (as much as one alien life form can be anyway), initially displaying considerable interest in the female lead. Who he then drops like a hot potato for the main character.

History: Alit & Barians in general

Appearance: Human form & Barian form
Fairly short, the shortest of the Barian Emperors, but physically he's also the strongest, due in part to the fact that he was a gladiator in his past life. He adheres to a pretty rigorous training routine that not even his fellow Barian, Gilag, can keep up with. Therefore he's incredibly well built for his apparent age. He has an olive complexion and only slighty less ridiculous Yugioh hair than normal. Brunette, short and flips up at the ends with his bangs covering his right eye. His eyes are bright green but his left eye will turn red while dueling, allowing him to to witness the ar vision of duels in Zexal. He dresses pretty normally but also wears a number of gold rings.

Back home he's just your typical, red, mouthless alien with weird horns and all kinds of clashing bling

Personality: As one of the seven Barian emperors and thus a villain in the series, Alit comes across as somewhat unique. On one hand he demonstrates dedication to the mission of the Barians. On the other, that doesn’t stop him from getting mixed up in the affairs of the protagonist in ways that might call question to his loyalty. The fact is that Alit is the sort of character that tends to follow his heart. Alit often acts quickly and sometimes rashly, only stopping to reflect on his actions in the aftermath if he has cause to do so at all.

On the other hand if Alit finds something boring or not worth his time, he may show an inclination to just disregard it. He comes across as having the least conviction of the Barian emperors at times. He finds it annoying when their leader asks him to do any work he doesn't find worthwhile and he doesn’t display much interest in the affairs of his comrades either with his presence completely absent for large periods of time. In spite of this indifference, he still has enough pride to take these responsibilities seriously, not unlike a soldier that acts out of duty more than an absolute faith in his cause.

He really comes around when he finds something that appeals to him, whether it’s some person or goal to strive for. When he sets himself to a task he doesn't let anything get in his way until he accomplishes it or, occasionally, something distracts him away from it. He duels Yuuma at least four times in the series, more than almost any other character, due at least in part to the rivalry he decides that they share. Whether motivated by duty or passion, he exhibits unbridled persistence and determination to see it through.

Though he occupies the role of villain, Alit also possesses a strong sense of morality. He completely rejects the idea of using underhanded tactics or cheating, going so far as to take a stand against his own comrades and protect Yuuma and his friends when he feels they get caught unfairly in a trap. For him, a fight doesn't mean anything if it's not carried out honorably. His pride as a duelist means more to him than his status as a Barian. Furthermore, he's the sort of character that is interested in far more than just winning. Which is not to say winning isn't important to him but it's equally important that two opponents have fun in a duel and give it their all regardless of the dire stakes they are fighting over.

Alit is also the sort of person that invests himself wholeheartedly into a task which means he feels his losses just as hard as his successes. Sometimes this is used to fuel his determination but it can also come at a price. Under the influence of Don Thousand, the Barian god, Alit is turned against Yuuma, proclaiming he hated him after a previous loss which was clearly not the case at the time. This incites a great deal of anger and increased obsession and eventually leads him to forgo some of his morality -- although not all of it -- in order to seek revenge. He reacts impulsively to these feelings and it isn't until he loses again that he is forced to confront the confusion and pain brought about by his actions. Unfortunately this development was left without resolution up until now.

For the most part though -- certainly from when he will be pulled in to HH -- Alit is the sort of character who acts honorably and respectably with a certain measure of pride to boot. One of the most intriguing aspects of his character is that he never allows the juxtaposition of his duty to the Barians nor his interest in their enemy to bother him. He's loyal to both but rather than worry about any conflict, he just deals with trouble as it comes, living moment for moment and enjoying himself as best he can.

Abilities: Alit is an adept fighter. He's incredibly fit and can out pace many of the other characters in the show physically (he literally punches one of the guardian spirits into submission when everyone else would have just dueled it okay). In his past life he had a reputation as a gladiator that survived to the modern era. He only ever fights with his bare hands, even against armed opponents. In the show we see him training far more often than sparring but his style seems to be a mix of boxing and martial arts.

Aside from that he has Barian powers which are mostly pretty vague.
Have a list:
[x] Teleportation via portals, including travel between the Barian and human worlds
[x] Shapeshifting between Barian and human form, requires a high energy environment like the Barian world or a sphere field
[x] Increased tolerance to pain
[x] Mind Control to varying degrees
[x] Activation of card effects outside of a duel

It's is unclear whether these later two powers are really his or those of Don Thousand though. They would also be completely irrelevant here and I doubt he'd even try to ask for any of them back.

Other: He uses boxing puns when he talks sometimes. It's pretty lame.

First Person: Alright, before we get started, let’s get one thing out of the way. The name’s Alit and don't you forget it.

[He gives you all a moment to let that sink in. Yep, he’s pretty nice like that.]

Now, I think I’ve got the basics down. This is some kind of new world like the human world. I guess I can accept that. And we’re stuck here for the long count because some weird guy out there thinks we’re better off playing house than dealing with important shit where we belong. Pretty cheap shot if you ask me. And annoying but I guess it could be worse.

[Expelling a small huff, he slumps back in his seat. If it seems like he’s taking the whole kidnapping thing rather well, there is a reason for that.]

What I really need to know is how to find this landlord jerk. No one can tell me and apparently he’s the only one that can get my deck back. Seriously. What kind of duelist would I be without one? We may be stuck here but that's no excuse to lose focus. I made a promise and no one's gonna get in the way of that.

IV - Thomas Arclight | Yu-Gi-Oh! Zexal | Reserved

[personal profile] fanserdistic 2013-10-01 06:08 am (UTC)(link)
Personality:

The very first impression that one might have of IV (if lucky), is that of a very humble and charming young man. Many would describe him as friendly, polite and gentle. This is the public image that IV has build for himself, that he projects to the world and to his fans and that he has become very good at holding up when he needs it to. (As Tetsuo put it prior to dueling him: „There is no duelist gentler than IV.“)

He appears to be quite glad to please his fans, to invite them to duel with him, give them his autograph, allow them advantage over him in duel, compliment their strategies and plays even or maybe especially when they put him in a corner... fanservice is his motto after all and he is not tired to make sure his fans know that.

Once the time comes for him to drop his mask though, it doesn't take long to become very clear just how much of an act it is: beneath the act, IV is loud, arrogant, prideful, dramatic and takes quite a bit of satisfaction and pleasure out of hurting and humiliating his opponents - no matter how much and maybe even especially because they might have initially looked up to him. In fact, he admits to despising his fans, because he considers every single of them to be terrible at dueling (with exception of his greatest fan of course).

He doesn't hesitate to use whatever leverage he has to corner his opponent and gain an advantage (and enjoy their suffering) - whether it is by luring them to a battle field that puts them at utter disadvantage or showing them live footage of their suffering younger sibling. That is what he calls his true fanservice after all. ("I shall offer you hope! Then snatch it back! It’s at this moment that human beings make the most beautiful faces. To let you have those expressions… that’s my fanservice!")

IV is emotional and has an easily flaring temper, he wavers a lot between laughing and sneering while in utterly critical duels or when his buttons are pushed – like Tron did during his duel with Ryoga by constantly insulting him and his ability and ultimately abandoning him to help out his opponent.

In fact, IV is very much the odd one out in his family - unlike calm and polite III or calculating, rational V, IV is disrespectful, outspoken and rather easy to irritate or anger - he is the only one of the brothers to ever question or talk back to Tron, he calls out V when the other criticizes his methods (because it really isn't like Numbers Hunting is that easy and if V has a problem with how he does it, then he can go and do it his own damn self), and generally seems to hold a lot of anger and resentment when in close proximity to the older members of the Arclight family.

Even so he ultimately has always done as he was told - whether it is to duel the younger sister of his opponent-to-be to the point of critical injury, set up said opponent to fall from grace by pretty much forcing him into looking at his deck and subsequently cheating, and then string said opponent further along into seeking revenge from him - because for all that he might question and complain, IV very much tries to please Tron, to be acknowledged by him, and tries to prove himself, hoping that one day maybe it will be enough for their father to return to his original self.

IV is painfully aware of his status as The Unfavorite in the family - neither Tron nor V ever express confidence in his abilities, and compared to III he is often left in the dark to parts of the grand plan and either only told belatedly or ends up being blind sighted by them (a little warning about Ryoga having been given Shark Drake would have been appreciated. Just saying). Even so he doesn't even think to step up for himself when Tron insults him and III within the same breath - III is The Favorite, the one who would do absolutely anything for their family and if that still isn't enough, then honestly, what chance does IV have to do anything to their father's satisfaction. Overall his relationship to III appears to be much closer - and much less hostile - than to V or Tron. Though he is just as unhappy when it's III that reprimands him and he snaps at him just as he would at V (though maybe with just a little less heat), the two of them seem to cooperate well in general and are shown to be a quite effective team during there tag match with Yuma and Kaito (it's implied that the two of them have teamed up several times before).

Despite his status and his troubles with his older brother and father, IV is ultimately utterly loyal to his family – he may question, he may complain, he may act utterly obnoxious or throw a temper fit when irked, but he cares about his brothers and their father and ultimately, all he has done – no matter how horrible – was for the sake of Tron becoming the father they once had again and he wishes nothing more than for Tron to put faith into his ability to defeat Ryoga and later Dr. Faker so he can carry out their family’s revenge and put the whole affair to rest. Needless to say that he utterly snaps when he realizes that Tron doesn’t care about what he or either of his brothers do or have done for him, that all three of them have all been pawns all along and doesn’t realize just how Tron is manipulating him as he immediately tries to prove him wrong and show that he isn’t just a pawn by utterly crushing Ryoga.

Ryoga is ultimately a person that IV has a lot to settle with – both of the Kamishiro twins are. He has hurt Rio (though he had no idea that the card he was given by Tron to use against her would set the place aflame and carried her out of the burning building, receiving the his scars in his face in process), he has lured Ryoga from trap to trap – first causing him to be excluded from the National Circuit, then luring further into the World Duel Carnival – and (rather unintentionally) set him up to become the assassin that Tron desired, he does at all points acknowledge his own fault in all of it (“I have no plans to run away! I will settle things with you here and now!”) and is revealed to be remorseful upon losing to Ryoga. In fact, he asks Ryoga to hate him for all that has happened instead of Tron and to save him instead – which is an extremely great admission of faith and respect coming from IV.

Ultimately, Tron is later defeated by Yuma, finds back to his original personality and the last seen of the Arclight family in the first series is all four of them watching the first half of Yuma’s duel with Kaito and then leaving presumably to rebuild their rather dysfunctional relationships to each other and to prepare to the upcoming assault from the Barian World.

When IV reappears in the second series, he is still loud and boastful as ever and still dishes out his fanservice when he finds a proper opponent (even if that opponent is a jellyfish bastard who really needed a handicap anyways – and whether that’s really a proper opponent is up to debate), but he is much, much more emotional stable than before and far less prone to violent mood swings. He hasn’t lost any respect and faith he has in Ryoga - even if encouragement is laced with insults (“I see now! So you’re not even a man! You’re a useless older brother that can’t even save his freakin’ lil’ sister! Stand up, Ryoga!”) – he understands Ryoga’s determination to protect Rio and sincerely wants to help him with it, partly to repay Ryoga and Yuma for their role in Tron’s return to sanity, but also because of his own role in Rio’s previous injuries (“Seeing your sister suffering and unconscious again like this leaves a bad taste in my mouth… That’s why… I’ll use my fanservice to beat the hell outa this guy in an instant!”).

He’s also shown to have become quite capable of being as serious as the situation needs him to be, pointing out that the fake numbers Mr. Heartland spread around on Vector’s say are bad news and telling Yuma’s group of friends to remove any they might have picked up from their person.

In the end IV is not that different from most teenagers (loaded as his family may be) – depending on the situation he can be polite and pleasant, rather serious, or a tease to the point of being obnoxious, and though his temper has calmed some, he still can – and will – throw a fit, if he feels like it. Can’t make things too easy for V, can he?

Age: 30
Canon: Atlantis: The Lost Empire
Canon Point: After shooting at the balloon and her presumed death
Species: Human
Gender: Female
Orientation: Straight, though little to no interest is shown on her end during the movie. It is known she was married for a brief period of one year and is presumed a widow. Helga Sinclair | Atlantis: The Lost Empire | RESERVED

[personal profile] unemotes 2013-10-01 03:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Personality:
Helga Katrina Sinclair is a Lieutenant, and serves as a second-in-command to the expedition sent to find the lost city of Atlantis, responding only to Commander Lyle Rourke. She is a serious and stoic woman, possessing an analytical mind that is ideal for military planning, strategy and tactics. She has a very no-nonsense and unapologetic personality, and dedicates herself and all her efforts to whatever mission is at hand. She is calm and levelheaded in situations of stress, constantly looking for new forms to deal with the problems that come up, situations in which her intelligence and incredible resourcefulness are extremely valued assets. She shows herself to be unemotional and distanced from the others, but despite appearing to be emotionally detached or even morally questionable, she's not entirely cold-hearted, or free of her own doubts. When it is found that the city of Atlantis is not only not abandoned, but also a society struggles to survive there, she shows reticence in proceeding with the mission. But being a military following orders, she immediately discards those doubts when Commander Rourke says they will carry on with the plan.

Trained since she was a child in several kinds of combat arts, Helga is very skilled in hand-to-hand combat, as well as many forms of small-arms combat, and later on started tactics and firearms training as a teenager, under Commander Rourke. She is not only strong and quick in a fight, but she also uses her wits and logical thinking, coupled with her calm and self-control, to analyze her opponents and learning their weaknesses, then aiming for those exactly. As such, she is a very good judge of others' strength and her own, and knows exactly where her weaknesses lie and how to work with them. It's also her ability to evaluate others and her eloquence that make her a very charismatic person, persuasive in her words and actions, even a little deceitful if must be - whatever it may take for her to reach her objectives. She is a very active person, with a hint of an adventurous trait that she sees fulfilled in the missions she is sent on. And no matter what may happen, she is determined to reach her goals, and perseveres in any and all situations.

When Commander Rourke issues an order, she is the one to make sure that she sees that order followed to the letter. She is tough and aggressive, even a little mean sometimes, and gives no room for familiarity between herself and any of the members of the expedition. She is strict and harsh, ideal traits as a coordinator, trainer and enforcer, making her generally disliked as a person but that matters little to her - she is there not as their friend or colleague, but as an officer and their superior, someone with a job to do and orders that she will follow no matter what.

Helga was born and grew up in a military family, and since young learned what it meant to follow orders, to show respect to those that ranked higher than her. She is diligent and dedicated, and towards Commander Rourke she shows a deference and loyalty that surpasses any doubts about his morally-dubious ways and objectives. She is, above all, a woman who will follow her superior towards a goal, which comes off as inevitably uncaring and ruthless when she leaves members of the expedition behind to get buried alive along with the rest of Atlantis, when her and Rourke retrieve Princess Kida's crystallized body - the only thing keeping the city alive and protected. This doesn't mean, however, that she's entirely unwary and exploitable, quite the contrary. Although she had shown blind trust and respect for Rourke so far, when he threw her off the hot air balloon (to alleviate the weight so that he could reach the surface and take the princess along with him), and after she fell from an extraordinary height, she still found in herself the strength to commit one last act of pure and simple revenge for his betrayal, by firing a flare gun at the balloon and preventing him from ascending any further. If she was to die, then she would get back at the man responsible for it by dragging him down with her.

As a last note, Helga is a great example of how people are neither black nor white. There are always grey areas in us, and sometimes we act upon those just as much as we will want to do something that's wholly right or wrong. To say that she is entirely evil is wrong, but she's not good either, not by a long shot. She is capable of compassion but she can easily ignore that part of herself in order to complete her task. Throughout the expedition, she conducted herself the way most military soldiers would, even as the circumstances presented moral issues that she struggled with, even if only briefly - there were others, and it was her job to make sure they got followed through, not only by her but also by the rest of the expedition members.

Abilities:
Helga is a lack belt in Aikido (yondan rank), expert in the techniques of Henka Waza, Tanto Dori and Tachi Dori.
Besides most common small arms, she is also skilled with tactical combat knife fighting, Colt throwing knife, bo staff, kama, field tanto and katana.
She has a vast knowledge of firearms, from maintenance to proper usage, so much so that she has taught rifle and shotgun when she was in Quantico.

Other: Nothing I can remember!

Canon: Touhou Project.
Canon Point: Post-Subterranean Animism.
Species: Youkai.
Gender: Female.
Orientation: Nothing in canon indicates Parsee's sexuality one way or another. I'm going with no preference because I interpret her self-loathing as being so intense that she would view anyone taking a romantic/sexual interest in her as a miracle. (To say nothing of how she's super old by human standards, a species she doesn't even belong to, both of which could also be factors in such an indifferent mindset toward gender preferences.)

IC INFORMATION
Characters Name: Kazumi Subaru
Age: 14
Canon: Puella Magi Kazumi Magica ~the innocent malice~
Canon Point: Post-canon
Species: Human
Gender: Female
Orientation: It's never really touched upon in canon -- Saki had some romantic feelings for her, though it's pretty much outright stated that they stem from Kazumi being a clone of Michiru. She's very close with the other Pleaides but their relationship is closer to being a group of sisters and she never shows any romantic inclination in any way towards any of the characters.

History: [ Here. ]
Appearance: Untransformed -- From the last chapter of the manga. Her hair is black and her eyes a reddish-purple. Transformed - the cover of the final volume. Kazumi is in the middle.
Personality: At first, it's hard to tell just how much of Kazumi's personality is entirely her own and just how much she inherits from Michiru. All we know for sure is that her love of food and her cooking skills are directly from her predecessor -- and, in fact, she not only states to the Pleiades that she is a separate person but also reacts badly when Saki mistakenly refers to her as 'Michiru'. She explicitly states that she can't move forward unless she has her own body and not one created by the Pleiades to revive Michiru. Kazumi considers herself a separate person and there are great differences between her and Michiru. The main difference is that Michiru was very mature for her age and acted as a big sister figure to the other girls. With Kazumi, this is reversed, with the other girls serving as older sister figures for her.

She has a great deal of love and respect for food, an attitude she inherited from her grandmother who stressed the importance of never wasting food and respecting the lives of the animals whose meat had been used for your meal. She believes strongly that people who don't leave leftovers are inherently good people -- after all, a bad guy never finishes anything and certainly not a meal!

Kazumi herself never leaves any leftovers, though this is more to do with the fact that she just loves to eat. Whenever she's hungry, that issue will be the forefront of her mind -- when she woke up naked and confused in a briefcase of all things, the first thing she demanded of her supposed kidnapper was food. If she's upset or distressed, she'll almost always have something to eat. This is another attitude she inherited from her grandmother, who told her to listen to her stomach if she was upset -- because if she was hungry, that meant she still wanted to live.

Kazumi is an energetic young girl, who never seems to tire out. She's a little hot-headed and her moods sometimes swing between emotional extremes in the blink of an eye. Still, she's cheerful most of the time, though she can come off as a bit of a ditz and often has rather over the top reactions to things -- especially food. Kazumi loves to make friends and meet new people -- she's naturally a very charming young girl, though she's mostly unaware of her charisma and therefore unable to tell when she is in fact being charming. When she makes a friend, she's loyal to the end and cares deeply for them. She goes to great lengths to protect her friends, often at her own expense -- she risks turning herself into a Witch in order to win a Grief Seed to save her friends from the same fate.

Because of this, Kazumi considers betraying one's friends to be one of the cost despicable things a person can do. When it appears that the Pleiades have betrayed her and are attempting to kill her, she does not hesitate in leaving them for her own safety and actively hiding. When she does eventually confront them for answers, she makes sure she is totally in control of the situation and never fully forgives their actions -- apart from Kaoru and Umika, who prove their love and dedication to their friend -- though it's possible that, given the time, she may have done so eventually. She's sympathetic towards Kanna Hiriji, despite all the awful things she'd done, though this may be attributed to Kazumi feeling kinship with her, as they were both 'artificial' humans, created with magic.

She's also very childish for her age -- she's a middle-schooler but she looks and acts a fair bit younger. This is most evident when she's with her friends Umika and Kaoru who are both high schoolers and come off as much more mature than Kazumi. This isn't to say that she's completely immature -- she has an incredibly strong sense of justice and responsibility, though she tends to hold other people by this same ideal and is often surprised when they don't match it. She hates unnecessary conflict, especially of the physical kind and will never resort to violence if she thinks there's another option. However, she's not afraid to fight when it comes down to it and works very well in a team -- she was often the linchpin in the strategies that the Pleiades came up with.

Ultimately, Kazumi is a girl who just wants to be happy and make other people happy. Her love of food and cooking and her hatred of conflict are all testaments of that. When the people she loves are happy, Kazumi is happy and that's more than enough for her.
Abilities: Kazumi is a Puella Magi, her universe's answer to being a magical girl. Thanks to this, she has various abilities, some useful and others... well, less so.

Weapon & Magic: Kazumi's weapon of choice is a large cross-shaped staff that is apparently made of metal. It works as both a close-range melee weapon and can be used to fire magical beams (which seems to be her main use of it). Her attacks have a large range and excellent accuracy and are shown to be powerful enough to cripple most witches. Her final attack is Limiti Esterni (Outer Limit) and in the final chapter, she is shown performing a combo attack with Umika and Kaoru called Meteora Finale (Final Meteor).
Physical Abilities: Like all Puella Magi, Kazumi has extremely heightened physical prowess. She is much stronger than a normal human and has much more endurance, able to take a blow that would incapacitate a normal person and come back swinging. The downside to this is that her magic as well as her entire physical being is dependant on her Soul Gem and it exceeds a distance of 100 meters from her body, she will, effectively, die until the Soul Gem is returned to her. Should she use too much magic without clensing her Soul Gem with a grief seed, it will corrupt and Kazumi will turn into a Witch.
Other: Kazumi is a mind-blowing cook. Give her a recipe and she'll not only improve on it, but she'll make your tastebuds weep with delight. Her signature dish is strawberry risotto but she's good at cooking anything she turns her hand to.

Personality: "Harley Quin-zel. Rework it a bit and you get Harley Quinn, like the classic clown character, Harlequin… the very spirit of fun and frivolity!"

Sounds about right, doesn’t it? Well, mostly right. For while Harley Quinn has spirit, and while she’s certainly no stranger to fun or frivolity, this clown isn’t all smiles.

Consider her childhood. Life can’t have been easy for a sweet young Brooklyn girl like Harleen: daughter to a con-man father who always knew how to sweet-talk his way out of anything and a poor mother who, above all else, wanted her children raised right (as in, completely unlike their father), to say nothing of her unmotivated brother, apathetic and unwilling to even try to work, despite the mounting responsibilities he undoubtedly faced. She must have had a lot of pressure riding on her as she pursued an education at Gotham State University, and understandably so. To have been accepted thanks to a gymnastics scholarship, to then pursue a degree in psychiatry? Even so, she was still able to pass with flying colors and get her psychiatric degree.

She didn’t crack under pressure. Not yet, anyway.

That wouldn’t come until later down the road, when she first entered the halls of Arkham Asylum. Not as an inpatient, but as an intern. And the more she learned of the Asylum and its patients, the more fascinated she found herself by one of its most infamous attendees: The Joker.

Harley Quinn and the Joker. Perhaps one of the most complex, twisted relationships ever explored within the vast reaches of the DC Universe. In the foreword for Mad Love, creator Paul Dini describes Harleen’s fall for the Joker not as “a victim’s tale,” but “a cautionary one about what happens when someone loves recklessly, obsessively, and for too long.” In many ways, the Joker is responsible for helping shape her into the woman she is today, for whispering countless promises and sweet-nothings into her ear, for convincing her to follow his chaotic teachings and wildest ambitions. But the true tragedy of Harley’s fall for the Joker is that in the end, the path to insanity is a choice that she, herself, made.

As a couple, they’ve had their ups and downs, albeit far more violently than most other couples in the world. Despite the Joker’s undeniable cruelty, Harley almost always finds herself coming back to him. But her devotion isn’t always placed in the wrong hands; in recent times, Harley’s been pursuing more of an independent lifestyle along Selina Kyle (a.k.a. “Catwoman”) and Dr. Pamela Lillian Isley (a.k.a. “Poison Ivy”), fellow supercriminals in a transitionary movement towards reform. And no matter who she finds herself allied with, be it the abusive Joker, her fellow Gotham City Sirens, or even somebody as weaselly as the Riddler, Harley won’t hesitate to defend her friends and knock whoever’s threatening them right back down on their butts, smiling as she does so.

Always smiling. In spite of her difficulties in life and the downwards spiral she may never recover from, Harley’s always quick to bounce back from anything, putting others at ease (or giving them grief) with a bubbly disposition. She’ll smile, she’ll laugh, maybe she’ll crack a dumb joke or two. But is this who she truly is? Or, like the white grease paint she applies daily, is it just a mask she wears to protect herself from the pain that surely eats away at her?

Yeah. Not so funny anymore, huh?

At first glance, one might assume Harley’s just stepped out of a cartoon. Which, to an extent, is true, given her jump from the beloved DC Animated Universe into comic book canon. Really, though, seeing her in action? She practically is a cartoon character. She most frequently speaks in a thick, exaggerated Joisey accent, only really dropping it when she’s truly serious about something. But very rarely does she allow herself an opportunity to be serious. Or mature, for that matter.

For a woman her age, she can be incredibly childish, still sleeping among a mountain of stuffed animals and toys. Among her fellow Gotham City Sirens, she’s content to be the kid of the group, lounging around at home and playing video games as Selina trains with Wildcat and Pam interviews for a high-profile position with S.T.A.R. Labs. Though there are plenty of hobbies she enjoys as an adult as well: shopping sprees, fancy dates and nights on the town, as well as taking care of her babies. Well, she’ll call them “babies” and treat them like puppies, but they are, in fact, two wild, dangerous hyenas (affectionately named “Bud” and “Lou,” like the comedic greats).

Harley once admitted that she finds herself drawn to the appeal of “extreme” personalities, and she herself is no exception. Nearly every action she takes, every reaction she makes, can be pretty extreme. She’s just as prone to laughing fits as she is to explosive outbursts when provoked. And when she really finds herself pushed to her limit? She can be pretty damned terrifying, as we discover towards the end of Gotham City Sirens’ all-too-brief run when she finally decides to do something about the Joker once and for all.

Honestly, despite the loud personality she proudly boasts of, she’s still very much a damaged and emotionally compromised person inside. Her on-again, off-again relationship with the Joker is a troubling example of both her vulnerability and her codependent nature, which tend to either get her into trouble or alienate her quickly from her peers (probably both) as soon as that relationship status changes. As one of Poison Ivy’s closest friends, Harley’s relationship with the Joker is a pretty tricky subject. Harley still cares deeply for “Red,” as she refers to Ivy, but has the potential to manipulate Ivy’s trust to her own advantage, as we unfortunately learn in the climax of Gotham City Sirens. Though she’s a devoted friend to Ivy, her love for the Joker is stronger, and it can twist Harley into doing some pretty horrible things.

“So maybe I’m crazy,” she’s sure to say, “but aren’t we all a little crazy in love?”

Abilities: Harley's an olympic-level gymnast and acrobat, capable of moving pretty fast on her feet and packing a powerful punch. After receiving a shot from her gal-pal Poison Ivy, Harley not only gained an immunity to most toxins and poisons, but her agility and above-average skills in martial arts were given a pretty hefty boost as well.

Lastly, though it's often easy for her fellow rogues or her enemies to gloss over, beneath Harley's childish and aloof exterior lies the intellect of a genius. Before her corruption and fall into criminal activity, Harley graduated from Gotham State University with top honors in the field of psychoanalysis.

Edward Nigma (The Riddler) | DC Comics | Reserved [2]

[personal profile] deciphering 2013-10-02 06:13 am (UTC)(link)
History: Wiki
Appearance: Here

Personality:

”It wasn’t the money I wanted. It wasn’t the action I sought. I just liked the attention.”

Imagine, if you will, That Guy. It isn’t very hard to do; you already know him because you’ve seen him in every school, at every office, standing in line at every grocery store, post office and gas station. He’s tactless and awkward, the kind of person who not only invites himself into conversations but who also jumps at the chance to prove himself – or, more specifically, prove that he’s right. For the life of him, he just can’t seem to understand why he’s not the most popular or well-liked person, but God help you if you think for one moment that he isn’t going to try his hardest to change your mind. He’s going to be somebody, damnit, because even a pompous, rude asshole gets more respect than a good for nothing nobody.

Hold that mental image. Give That Guy a swanky all-green ensemble, a predilection for riddles, and the world’s worst case of OCD, and congratulations – you’re one step closer to figuring out Edward Nigma. Granted, there are more particulars to his personality than just that, but the uglier ones are what people tend to pick up on much more quickly than the nicer ones upon meeting him for the first time. And while it would be easy to say that he’s an egocentric, self-centered jerk who would sooner die than willingly deny the world a microsecond of his greatness, the truth is that he’s much more complex than he appears to be. On the surface, Edward is flamboyant and charismatic – a born showman who takes to the limelight like a duck to water. He’s incredibly intelligent – a genius, even – and to say that he delights in proving this very simple fact to others would be a severe understatement because, at the end of the day, Edward’s intellect isn’t just his defining characteristic: it’s his crutch. He speaks verbosely and articulately, engaging in clever wordplay as a means of both showing off and testing the company he’s in to see if they’re smart enough to be worth his time, and has an unflappable, charismatic air about him that lends itself very well to furthering the impression that this is a man born for the stage. Ironically and kind of predictably, this is also what alienates him from others.

See, Edward isn’t just a genius – he’s an insufferable genius who will leap upon every chance he gets to prove to others that he’s intelligent. His need for attention matches his intelligence; everything he’s done, every impulse he’s had and even the persona he’s crafted for himself over the years as the Riddler, a criminal mastermind characterized by his use of riddles and wordgames, has been molded by an unhealthy obsession for acknowledgment which goes all the way back to his childhood, back when he wasn’t Edward Nigma but Eddie Nashton. As a child prodigy, the fact that Eddie was different from his peers was something that was always used against him, be it by the rest of his classmates or his abusive, delusional father. If he wasn’t being bullied at school, he was being beaten by his father who was convinced that his son was smarter than him. As a result of growing up in such an abysmal, loveless environment, Edward learned how to play the system at a very young age, learning quickly that the easiest way to gain recognition was to cheat. When a contest was announced at his school with a prize offered to the first child who could solve a supposedly impossible puzzle, Edward quickly leaped upon the chance to participate and even went so far as to sneak into his teacher’s office after school so he could practice the puzzle over and over again until he knew how to beat it within a few seconds. This behavior only worsened as he grew, as did his need for attention. Finding work at a carnival managing a rigged game booth wasn’t enough, and neither was working as a delivery man. Even when he finally seemed to find his niche in the criminal underworld as an informant and safecracker, it still wasn’t what he wanted because he wasn't the center of attention. In that respect, he’s the best suited to life in Gotham City as a supervillain because it indulges his perpetually hungry desire to be noticed and admired.

He doesn’t see breaking the law as a means to an end for the sake of making a quick buck (although you can never have too much money, make no mistake there!). No, when he breaks the law, it’s art. He openly brags about this like it makes him unique and special, acting like he’s God’s gift to organized crime, so it doesn’t really come as any surprise that even amongst his fellow rogues he’s considered a tremendous prick. Still, being the type who prefers brains over brawn, he's forced to make use of allies, minions and the occasional team-up. In a weird way, this makes him even more of a threat because he always has to be one step ahead of his enemies, so he’s always scheming and plotting. Ultimately, he always ends up undone by his own pride in some form or another or, more tragically, by his insanity that manifests itself as a bizarre, self-destructive form of OCD. He has to leave a clue at the scene of a crime. He has to come up with some convoluted riddle in the form of a trap or an ambush. Even when Stephanie Brown, the daughter of one of his old partners, comes to him with questions about her father, he talks to her in riddles and doesn’t let up even when she’s on the verge of pummeling his face in. In stark contrast to some of Batman’s other well-known rogues like Zsasz, Poison Ivy and Maxie Zeus, Edward is completely aware that he’s mentally ill and reacts very strongly when his issues are brought up. This is how Batman is able to beat him when he finally solves the riddle of his identity. Preying upon his arrogance and addiction to puzzles, Bruce reasons that Edward would never go public with his identity because a riddle that everyone knows the answer to is worthless. Edward, of course, concedes.

Of course it helps that he also threatened to sic the League of Assassins on him, but that excuse is much less edgy and tragic, so who cares?

Following a severe head injury during the height of an organized villain attack on Metropolis in Infinite Crisis, Edward spends the following year in a coma. When he awakens, he discovers two things: number one, he appears to have amnesia, and number two, the worst of his OCD has been curbed meaning he no longer has an obsession with riddles. This brings us to the next side of his personality: that of a reformed criminal. After discovering that independent detective work and security consulting is much more lucrative than robbing banks, Edward decides to try his hand at going straight and working as PI. This is hardly as selfless as one would imagine it to be. Once again, going back to his sole reason for becoming a criminal in the first place, he’s not in it for the money or the excitement. Rather, he’s in it for the fame. From the moment he makes his debut as a detective working on a well-publicized murder case shortly after he awakens from his year-long coma, it’s plain to see that Edward takes to his new life very well, putting on a show for the media and turning even a simple interrogation into a flashy show with cheek and wit. He doesn’t fare much better when he’s forced to team up with his former archenemy Batman; he doesn’t hesitate to flaunt how valuable his criminal input is with a case like this and still finds it in himself to throw quips around when Bruce lets him ride in the Batmobile (“Nice car. First time I’ve ever been inside it conscious.”).

Still, there are some noticeable improvements. His arrogance has mellowed out considerably in the years following his reformation. The sarcasm remains, but it’s not malicious so much as it is prickly. Empathy also comes easier, but selflessness? Still a major work in progress. That doesn’t mean he doesn’t have his moments of genuine kindness, though; he gives in and agrees to help Selina and Ivy find Harley even after initially and adamantly refusing, he helps the three of them clear their name when they’re framed for murder, and he even offers to let Batman share the limelight with him following the end of a particularly harrowing (and for Bruce, personal) murder case. His softer side is further evidenced in his interactions with Oswald Cobblepot, aka the Penguin. When Cobblepot decides to stay in Gotham where a group of Intergang hitmen are due to be arriving with orders to kill him on sight, he tries to talk him out of staying and even goes so far as to give an awkward but heartfelt confession that he’s always considered the other man a friend and intellectual equal. No one pressured him to do or say these things. Even when he’s given an opportunity to make off with a batch of expensive and highly secretive experimental chemicals that Wayne Enterprises hires him to find, he ultimately does the right thing and returns them to their rightful owner despite that it would be more profitable to sell them illegally.

Nonetheless, he can still be very vindictive and even sadistic if the opportunity is presented to him. The Riddler never was known for being one of Batman’s crueler villains, and although he genuinely seems to be trying to stay out of trouble, that doesn’t mean he’s forgotten his darker side. When he and Batman are attacked by an armed thug, he shoots the man with a flaming arrow and would rather watch and taunt him as he burns, leaving Batman to rescue him. He lies as easily as he breathes and will routinely wheel and deal to save his skin, preferring guile above all else to outsmart his enemies. To further add to his vicious potential, he was also at one point years ago possessed by the demon Barbathos, resulting in a brutal, inhumanly cruel Riddler who was perfectly willing to kill on a whim and even drag innocent children into his games with Batman, something unheard of when it comes to him. While it definitely can be argued that he was not in complete control of his actions, Barbathos was in no way forcing him to do any of these things against his will; the potential was there and all the demon had to do was prey upon these desires and amplify them.

His past is still a very sore subject for him but, true to form, he always tries to either make light of it or avoid addressing it altogether. Whenever Edward is forced to confront it, he almost always does with an undertone of bitter discomfort. When the husband of one of his past victims attempts to murder him, he reacts with hostility when Batman shows up to save him, arguing that he can’t even remember half of the things he did as the Riddler. While that may be true to a degree, he doesn’t show much regret when pressed on it; if he has any, it’s most definitely kept hidden away along with the rest of his insecurities.

”Riddle me this, Eddie: how many more shattered people are out there who owe their miseries to your antics?”
“Look in the mirror and repeat the question, Bats. We’ll have coffee sometime and trade answers.”

In spite of his egocentric ways and quirkiness, Edward is in essence a very insecure person who masks his feelings of inadequacy and loneliness with charm and smarm. He tries to come across as sophisticated and witty, and sometimes it works but other times it just isolates him even more from others. The abuse he’s endured from his father has left a deep mark on his psyche; it’s implied at some point that he was beaten so severely in his childhood that he had begun to sincerely believe everything his father had said about him, that he was a moron, an idiot, a cheater, so by the time he did manage to genuinely gain recognition for his intelligence at school even he couldn’t believe that he didn’t cheat. He has a self-loathing streak and routinely evens his cockiness out with moments where he mentally browbeats himself, arguing that what he’s doing is pointless and that his reformation is a “Good Samaritan act” even if he doesn’t quite believe it himself. He wants to have friends and wants to believe that there are people in his life who could very well be his best friends (Oswald, Selina, Harley), but he’s been betrayed far too many times to really find it in himself to truly trust them and their intentions.

Ultimately, Eddie is That Guy but he’s also so much more – and he has the potential to be something even greater. He’s dramatic, eccentric and egotistical; petty, high-strung and bratty, but also awkward, well-meaning and charming in his own strange but sincere way. As he seeks to understand who he is, was, and will become, the riddle becomes even more contrived and convoluted. Maybe it's impossible to change who he is at his core, but until then, he's going to hang on and enjoy the ride for as long as possible.

And besides, if Dick Grayson could give him props for trying, then really, how bad can he be?
