History:

One thousand years ago, Quon and his clan were discriminated against and chased out due to possessing special powers, based on the individual (the first of ‘Attractors’, as they would later be called). They chose to live on their own, embracing their unique abilities and isolating themselves from those who would hurt them. Quon, however, wasn’t especially interested in any of that. As his powers hadn’t awakened yet, he preferred to play around and slack off, compared to his younger brother, Towa, who was kind and gentle—to the point where he would even help out someone from the town, despite them being the ones who hated Quon and co.’s kind.

Quon would come to regret this for years to come, however, when one day, as his clan was preparing for a festival, he left to do his own thing, uninterested in it all. Rather than returning to a happy and warm village, though, he came back to find his entire clan murdered out of prejudice. It was then that Quon’s powers awakened, and as is common for Attractors, he lost control of them, causing him to go berserk and slaughter all of the townspeople.

Afterwards, whether he would’ve chosen to continue living or simply end his life there was irrelevant—one of his newfound powers was immortality. The ancestor of one of his present friends found him and took him in, and from there, Quon eventually vowed to dedicate his life to protecting Attractors like him in order to make up for his failure and to atone for having killed.

Flash forward to one thousand years later. Quon leads a group of Attractors, who exist to shelter those like them—primarily children—and teach them how to control their abilities, as well as give them a new life. Heavy prejudice still exists against them, with an organization known as Custos existing to capture/kill them. Consequently, as one of the only fighters, much of Quon’s time is spent locating new Attractors when they awaken and saving them before Custos can get to them. On the side, he takes care of his garden, with the Attractors’ base being disguised as an establishment known as “Fantasium Garden”, built on the land of Quon's original home and open to the public.

For the most part, Quon’s life is fairly repetitive, following the above pattern. Things go awry, however, when one of their enemies—a cyborg known as Epsilon/Shun—turns out to be an Attractor. Deciding that he’s a friend even if he previously fought against them, Quon saves his life and takes him in, despite being aware of the risks. This proves to be the base’s undoing, as Custos hacks into Shun and has him reveal the location of the base and disable the barrier surrounding it. Although Quon’s friends manage to evacuate unharmed, Fantasium Garden is destroyed via missile—and Quon is killed.

Appearance: Ta-da.
Personality:

“I want to save them all. And that won't change in a thousand years.”

So, a lot of Quon’s personality can be summed up as “want to protect everyone”. Specifically, all the Attractors. It’s not really clear whether this policy applies to all humans, given that he wasn’t really initially aware that the cyborgs had genuine consciences and the Big Bad ends up being an Attractor himself, but seeing as how his friends end up saving all of Custos—their enemies—at the end, one can assume their actions reflect what Quon himself would do. Furthermore, Quon does end up rescuing every one of them.

But yes. Dear God, does the boy have a complex about protecting people. If you’re an Attractor, he will do everything he can to save you, even if you’re a serial killer, just tried to kill his friends, etc. And should he be unable to do so, he will blame himself for it and become noticeably disheartened. It’s why one of his friends derogatorily calls him "hero" and criticizes him for it—because he can’t save everyone. It gets to the point where he comes across as a bit self-centered and self-righteous, as he treats it like it’s specifically his burden (though granted, he’s essentially the sole fighter of the team, so it’s understandable that he kind of feels like it’s all up to him). While he has no problems with receiving help, he doesn't seem comfortable leaving it all up to someone else, even if they tell him that they've got it. He’s entirely aware that he’s got a complex about it, as evident when one team member tries to stop him, and Quon replies with this:

“You know. There’s no point in trying to stop me.”

Because there isn’t. He says it himself: he doesn't ever give up. As he’s been fighting for hundreds of years, Quon is an incredibly determined person. If there’s something he wants to do, then he’ll go all out to accomplish it. It does take a certain kind of will, after all, to dedicate yourself to the same ideal for presumably several lifetimes, almost entirely unwaveringly.

This all stems from his past, however. The Quon of one thousand years ago was nothing like how he is today, really. He was kind of brash. More importantly, he was a slacker who wasn’t really out to help others. From that point on, he seems to have molded his personality after his brother’s. He vowed to work as hard as he can and protect everyone to atone for having failed everyone before. At the very least, he would never repeat the mistake of his past ever again. He also decided to take upon the burden of having killed, due to his power incontinence, and dedicate his life to helping others learn to control their own abilities. His desire to protect everyone comes from severe survivor guilt on his part, as his inaction in the past may have costed him the lives of everyone he held dear.

He’s also extremely forgiving, as seen in his relationship with Epsilon/Shun. As his more cynical friends point out, Shun is an enemy. He’s captured and killed countless of their friends—so they shouldn't trust him with anything or have even saved him. Of course, Quon isn’t stupid—he’s well aware of that risk. However, as a murderer, he’s going to give a fellow murderer—and most importantly, one of their own kin—a chance. After all, as he states, if they're going to be judging people, then he himself should be the first to be judged. No matter how idealistic he's being, he says it straight to Shun, who himself points out how illogical it is—he’s choosing to trust him, even though he’s aware that Shun could easily then choose to betray that trust. Even when Shun ‘does’, Quon’s soft nature shows, as he refuses to seriously hurt Shun, knowing that he’s acting against his will.

As mentioned, Quon believes that if anyone should be criticized for being a murderer, then it should be him. Altogether, Quon doesn’t seem to hold a very high opinion of himself. While he doesn’t often go around outright deprecating himself, you would think that someone who’s saved countless lives would be a little more arrogant. Not Quon, though. It’s because of this that, when the others find out that he’s killed before and begin doubting him in spite of all that he’s done for them, Quon takes no offence—after all, he’s harder on himself than anyone else is on him. He tries to always be conscious of his burdens, never forgetting why he fights or why he cares so much for those around him, to the point where he certainly values their lives over his own. However, he never lets it get out of hand. In some ways, he sees himself as a monster, yes, but he also knows that no matter what, he’s still human.

That said, for a guy whose life revolves around helping others, Quon’s rather distant. While he's very polite and enjoys spending time with his friends, he’s more often than not seen alone. This likely stems partly from his immortality, as while it doesn’t stop him from making friends, it means that he knows that he’ll outlive them all (and as he’s had friends from the previous generations, presumably has done so many, many times). As well as that, he's not really out to socialize. He doesn’t mean to come across as cold—he’s just somewhat aloof because his life is so centered on his desire to protect everyone that it doesn’t always seem to occur to him to actually have a life.

His long life also shows up in other quirks of his. For starters, he can be a bit, well, weird, such as being kind of forward (striking up a conversation with strangers out of the blue, making comments that could easily be interpreted as flirtatious or creepy, suddenly holding people’s hands, etc.). One can assume that living for over a thousand years has not exactly done wonders for his social skills—that or he’s just learned to not care by this point, given his generally stoic nature. For that matter, he’s also very calm about most things (e.g. Yuri sticking her breasts in his face). While it’s not too difficult to fluster him once in a while, it’s not all that easy to get to someone who’s lived for a millennium either. He's also tsun-proof, much to one of his friends' misfortune.

What can cause him to lose his cool, however, are two things: one, his friends in danger, and two, Towa. He’s more prone to being emotional when his friends are being threatened, and God help you if you mess with Towa. While Quon never becomes seriously unhinged, he’s far more likely to lose his temper (because even he has one, yes) and fly into a rage. He’s even pushed to the point where he considers going against his ideals, as seen when he comes close to killing Kamishiro, the leader of Custos and a fellow Attractor, who essentially killed Towa—however, his selfless side wins over and he ultimately decides that his policy of saving all Attractors applies to him, even if he feels no sympathy towards him. His past as a whole seems to be a bit of a sore spot for him, with a friend even commenting on how, despite his age, he still hasn't quite managed to come to peace with it. Because of that and his hero complex, he's capable of being rather sorrowful and moody at times.

There are also implications that, for all of his emotional strength, he still has moments of insecurity. He doesn’t like to show them, as he’s far too concerned with others than to highlight his own issues, but for all of his age and maturity? Quon is, again, still human. Even he has (something of) a breaking point, where his weariness and desperation become clearer. He’s lived for over a thousand years, after all—as should go without saying, that’s a very long time to be alive, particularly when he’s generally either criticized for what he does or taken for granted. He never asks for recognition, of course, but even he, in his weakest moments, needs reassurance. For someone who hates failing, he, deep down inside, still wants to be told that at least he tried his best.

In short, he’s a pretty nice, if not aloof, guy with a bad case of Chronic Hero Syndrome.

Abilites:

Firstly, there’s his Insania form, which he can transform into. In this form, he has enhanced speed, strength, agility, and durability, as well some degree of energy manipulation—he’s seen using wings and blades made of energy. He also appears to possess some hydrokinesis and metal manipulation, though he doesn’t use those as often as regular physical combat.

As well as that, even outside of his Insania form, he also seems to have mild telepathic powers, in that he can detect other Attractors to some extent and, at one point, enters a telepathic link (albeit at great risk to himself).

His main ability is his regeneration, in that he can recover from any wound, including fatal ones and things such as removed limbs. The time it takes to heal seems to vary from wound to wound, and in some cases can be extremely painful, apparently. Because of this, while it’s possible to kill him, he won’t stay dead forever.

In a non-supernatural sense, it can be assumed that he’s still somewhat physically capable—he’s fast enough to dodge bullets at a distance and agile enough to go around on people's rooftops, at least.

And for something that has nothing to do with combat—he’s also a good gardener.

Other:

• 148 cm/4’10 tall (aka yes, he's a shorty)
• Blood type B
• Doesn't sleep much unless he's recovering—too busy patrolling otherwise
• Favourite food is instant noodles, stating that it’s “the kind of invention that only comes around every thousand years”

First Person: Thread(s) in a voice-testing comm & Dear Mun post!

Third Person:

One of Quon's first thoughts upon regaining consciousness was that it didn't hurt.

Healing could be excruciating—just as painful as gaining the wounds themselves sometimes. It was a worthy price to pay for, well, not dying, but immortality didn't go as smoothly as some might imagine. Consequently, to dimly recall losing his hand and being shot repeatedly (among other injuries) only to wake up as if he'd just fallen asleep—it was a rather disconcerting sensation. By all means, he should be crying out in pain right now.

Even ignoring his body's condition, however, it was far too peaceful. He remembered fighting. The details didn't occur to him immediately, but after a few moments, they became clear. Custos attacked, and—wait, how were Shun and Yuri holding up? They were in danger—and he needed to figure out where he was, now.

He had to protect them.

After sitting up, Quon glanced around the area, which only served to confuse him further. Either his friends had decided to develop a rather strange sense of humour and dump him on a lawn chair, rather than in a bed, or he definitely wasn't where he was supposed to be. All things considered, he shouldn't have expected to wake up in Fantasium Garden—not when they had to flee—but this was still unsettling. If anything, the utter normalcy of the scene made it that much more unnerving, particularly for someone who had been rather disconnected from the ordinary for several years.

The fact that he didn't see anyone he knew made the latter case more likely (that, or few had managed to survive, but that was a possibility he didn't want to consider). This really wasn't where he should be. That said, though, he still had no idea how he'd ended up here.

"Maybe death finally caught up to me..." he murmured, getting out of the chair. He didn't know if he could even die, bullet to the head or not, but he at least knew that sitting around wasn't going to get him anywhere.

There were people who needed him, after all.

IC INFORMATION
Characters Name: Vriska Serket
Age: Six sweeps, which equates to about 13 human years
Canon: Homestuck
Canon Point: After getting backstabbed by Terezi
Species: Troll
Gender: Female
Orientation: Bisexual by nature - most of her romantic interests (certainly for the two quadrants that aren't platonic) have been male thus far but her moirail (someone who, theoretically, keeps her more vicious tendencies in check) was female and her relationship with Terezi toes on black-romance at times, although Terezi isn't interested.

History: Vriska history. The link under "Canon" also gives a plot overview and links to the summaries of each of the Acts which covers the broader plots a little better.

Appearance: In her natural form, Vriska has the typical grey skin, yellow eyes and candy-corn coloured horns of her race. In her case, her horns are asymmetrical with the right one bent to an outward point and the left branching to curve up in a crescent shape. She has cerulean blood, which places her towards the bottom of the upper ranks of troll society and which is reflected in, amongst other things, the lipstick she wears (her lips are naturally black). Her left eye has seven pupils arranged in a cluster, and she has blue butterfly wings which she received after going God Tier.

On arriving to Holly Heights, she will lose the grey skin, horns and wings. She will therefore appear as a human with a mass of black, wavy hair, glasses and slightly-too-pointy incisors. She will arrive wearing her God Tier robes which are varying shades of orange with a sun symbol on the front of her shirt and a hood which somehow covers all that hair (and which has holes for the horns she will no longer have). Her eyes will look more human and minus the extra pupils in her left eye, and will be the same cerulean as her natural blood colour (which will now become human red).

Personality: Vriska likes to present herself as a master manipulator, the best of the best at everything she does and generally thinking herself better than everyone else. She is forever boasting about her skills and about all of the irons she has in fires, and overall likes to make out that she is a Big Deal. Because she apparently thinks so little of almost everyone else around her, she is not afraid to manipulate, backstab or outright walk all over someone to get what she wants.

Scratch the surface, however, and Vriska becomes a lot more complex. First, her claims of being a master manipulator are more than a little exaggerated. Though she seeks to emulate her ancestor, Mindfang, whose journal shaped much of Vriska's formative years, the truth is that Vriska doesn't have the subtlety or really the patience to truly master the art of manipulation. Instead she will bully, harass and insult others to try and provoke them into doing what she wants if she can't outright mind control them and her need for instant gratification means she often allows her frustration to get the better of her because things aren't going the way she wants them to. This trait, along with her overwhelming sense of pride, means she herself is ridiculously easy to manipulate.

It is this fact which mostly fuels her rivalry with Terezi, who can manipulate others without powers far more effectively than Vriska can even with her powers. This is something of which Vriska is incredibly jealous, largely down to her inherent insecurities - she knows, deep down, that she is not as big a deal as she likes to make out and this feeling only intensifies as the other trolls begin to shun her more and more. Of course, rather than try to better herself she channels her energies into more grand schemes and high-risk strategies, the biggest example of which being her role in creating the demon Bec Noir. She wanted to take the credit for his existence, hoping it would give her bragging rights, but she also did so because she then wanted to be the one to go out and defeat him.

On the one hand, this can be seen as another instance of Vriska being a glory hog, wanting all of the attention and praise and for people to acknowledge that she is the greatest, but it also stems from the aforementioned insecurities. She had hoped that if she could become the big hero, save the day and save everyone's lives, the other trolls would forgive her for her past actions and start to accept her again. Because Vriska has done some absolutely reprehensible things which even she knows are beyond what is acceptable, despite that her upbringing taught her that she was supposed to be that way. Although it should be noted that Vriska is, as a whole, terrible at taking responsibility for her actions and will blame anyone and anything else if it stops something from being her fault. This can and has gone to ridiculous extremes in the past, up to and including her attempt to bully Tavros into apologising for being crippled, even though she's the reason for him being crippled in the first place.

Much of Vriska's attitude and behaviour can be put down to the fact that she has never really stopped to think about who she wanted to be. She assumed that she was supposed to follow in Mindfang's footsteps, leading to further frustration when she couldn't quite match up and this is one of the primary causes of her abuse towards Tavros - she was forever trying to get him to live up to the Summoner of Mindfang's journal but pushed way too hard in the process. Likewise her mostly blase attitude towards murdering others stems both from necessity - she had to feed her lusus or else she herself would be eaten - and from troll society as a whole, which encouraged violence from the higher bloods. Thus, when she feels remorse for killing Tavros she doesn't know how to handle it or what makes him so different from the countless others she's killed or injured in the past - including Aradia, whose death she feels no remorse over causing.

Ultimately, Vriska talks a good game and she certainly has some skill but she allows her pride and her jealousy to cloud her judgement, which in turn only exasperates her feelings of inadequacy - which, in turn, feeds into the vicious cycle of her behaviour. She can be helpful when she wants to be - she did, after all, provide a lot of assistance to John and even helped him become God Tier - it's just that her methods are often questionable at best, downright cruel and brutal at worst and even at her nicest it would be a push to call her a good person.

Abilites:
Vision Eightfold Appears to serve as a form of x-ray vision and allows (or at least allowed) her to make use of Doc Scratch's magic cue ball, which was otherwise unreadable. This is the original purpose of her seven-pupiled eye.

Mind Control To a limited degree. She can fully dominate the residents of Prospit and Derse as well as the Consorts of each planet, all of whom exist only within the medium of SGRUB. Of the trolls, she can only manipulate Karkat, Sollux (half the time) and Tavros, although those she can manipulate she entirely dominates. When it comes to humans, however, she is only able to force them to sleep or to wake up - it turns out she is the cause of Jade's apparent narcolepsy.

Thief of Light Vriska is able to literally steal luck which means that in any situation which is luck-based, she can influence the results to work in her favour by stealing her opponent's luck. This appears to work through her seven-pupiled eye.

God Tier This is the reason she has wings and it also grants her conditional immortality - unless her death is just or heroic she will revive.

Dicekind Vriska's weapon of choice. Her main weapon in canon is the Fluorite Octet. This works by Vriska rolling all eight dice, the resultant combination of numbers correlating to the attack or power she is granted as per this page. Obviously, the full list of 8^8 possible combinations isn't available but we do see the names of some and even how some - for example Ancestral Awakening - work.

Other: Vriska types in cerulean and, as with all trolls, has her own typing quirk. In her case, this involves replacing the letter b and any "ate" sounds with the number 8, repeating vowels or punctuation marks 8 times and making 8-eyed smilies.

First Person: What the ever-loving FUCK is going on? First I get stabbed in the back by that bitch Pyrope. Now I wake up in this stupid lawnring where it's far too bright and all of a sudden I'm human? Is this some sort of sick joke? One last "fuck you, Vriska" from paradox space because I haven't had nearly enough of those?

Well listen up, whoever created this bullshit memory that I somehow landed in. I have all of the levels. All of them. Also all of the luck. So you want to start something, why don't you show yourself so I can finish you and get back to what I was actually supposed to be doing before blind justice investigates decided to stick her nose where it wasn't welcome.

Third Person: Vriska sat silently, staring at her hands. She had killed and maimed countless times before and yet, for some reason, this one seemed different to her. Her chest felt constricted, her own body siding against her for what she had done for no reason other than she could.

Well, that wasn't strictly true. He had sworn he was going to kill her, hadn't he? Had even been all set to charge at her, only she had been too quick for him. No, that wasn't right. He had been too slow for her. Just as he always had been. Just as he had always let her do what she wanted to him because he was too much of a coward and a loser to stand up to her. And this time, the cost had been his life.

Mindfang, too, was to blame for this. If she hadn't left behind that stupid journal, detailing her life of adventure and plundering, Vriska would never have thought to pursue Tavros at all. Were it not for the tales of the Summoner, the one to whom Tavros was supposedly related, he would have been nothing but an orange-blooded corpse fed to her lusus. But, just as she had tried to emulate Mindfang's kismesissitude with Dualscar only to find Eridan a let-down, so too was Tavros to dash her hopes.

And yet, for all she tried to assure herself that she was fine, that she'd done what she was entitled to as a blue blood and as a troll, the knot in her chest wouldn't go away. Tavros wasn't some faceless lusus-fodder; they had progressed through the game together and even if he had left her to die more brutally than she would have liked, he had still seen to it that she acquired the powers she had now. That had to count for something, didn't it?

Her ears pricked up as the sound of a commotion made its way towards her and she pulled herself to her feet. There was no time for dwelling now. Something was going on and she was obliged to see what that something was.

IC INFORMATION
Characters Name: Wocky Kitaki
Age: 19
Canon: Apollo Justice
Canon Point: Post AJ-case 2.
Species: Human
Gender: Male
Orientation: Heterosexual. He has a canonical female love-interest in game, and seems to ever only show interest in the opposite gender.

History: There is a brief description here! He only shows up in one case, so there's not really a lot.
Appearance: what a gangsta.
Personality: If you needed to summarize Wocky in one word? It'd probably be "interesting".

Really, there's no other way to put it. You don't even need more than a single glance to realize that; take a look at his hairstyle, his clothes--not to mention the first word out of his mouth is probably a screamed out "Biiiizoyyyyy!". In this case, odds are the first impression isn't wrong.

Wocky is the type of person who takes his background and title very seriously. A member of the Kitaki family of gangsters, Wocky is known as the member who takes pride in being the core definition of one. It's his philosophy to take fights as they come, protect the ladies, and be the baddest dude possible. Does this mean he's a tad bit reckless, a bit too open with his opinions, and almost annoyingly confrontational? You bet! Wocky's almost like an excited little kid when it comes to playing into the ideals he wants to play into. It takes a whole lot to talk him down from something once he sets his mind to it, and once he's deeply engrained himself into a belief or person, he'll set himself aside completely for them. This devotion to what he believes in is both admirable and blind. He truly dedicates himself completely to whatever he decides to.

This sort of loyalty ties in to the lesser seen side of his personality. While he's a person who concentrates his efforts on appearing as a tough untouchable gangster, there's a softness and kindness underneath the rough exterior that many people close to him say is easy to miss in the calls of fight fight fight. Really, he's a guy who cares about the people he wants to care about--you see it with Alita, who he protects under his "gangster code". He won't stand for injustice and tends to only act aggressively when something is in the way of his beliefs as a bad dude. Women? Won't get his fists. Children? Also safe. He's got a good heart underneath his questionable style, and is actually quite a charming individual once you get past the slang and threats.

Of course, good person doesn't mean smart person, and it's pretty clear that Wocky's not exactly a clever fox. He often gets terms mixed up ( "quacker" and "quack" ), and seems to think that running straight into an ambush is a smart move. He doesn't seem to catch on when someone's deceiving him, and well... when that someone is someone close, he'll almost stubbornly deny all truths, even if it's all piled up in front of him. He's a very naive sort of person, as easy as it is for him to talk about busting caps. This kind of... well, stupidity, almost, makes him seem pretty fearless. And he is, sort of! I mean, he has no problem running headfirst into situations without so much as a second thought, only because that's what he feels bad gangsters should do.

That's not to say that he's incapable of change. His aforementioned good-nature means that, when things do go through his head, he's not going to... deny when something is a better option, or when something is "more right" than what he's doing. Although he doesn't abandon the gangster life at the end of his case, he does go into a life with less killing and more baking, as the Kitakis move from Gangster Gun Fights to Gangster Bakery. While he initially rejected the pleas and ideas of his father, Wocky later seems to see what exactly is better, and adapts accordingly. His run-in with the law and the betrayal of someone he loved dearly kind of... opens his eyes a bit. So he is completely capable of change! It's just hard to get him to that point, sometimes.

Abilites: NONE. Just a regular human in a game about lawyers.
Other: He uses so much slang i'm sorry.

First Person: There's an old post here but I can provide a sample if you'd like something more!

Third Person:

For Wocky, the hardest part to get used to in this big, old place was not the fact he had been kidnapped. No, that part was actually quite simple ( in fact, he didn't even often think about it. can you call that prioritizing? ), and not even close to the biggest concern. For Wocky, the hardest part to get used to in this big, old place was the fact that he, somehow, had gotten married without his knowledge.

Dizzam was really the bare bones summary of his thoughts, accompanied only by pacing around the living room and a finished flop on the couch. Dizzam. He was all for spontaneity and shotgun weddings in the name of love, but Landlord? Was treading on some dangerous grounds in that department. It was whack, really--shacking up with someone he hardly knew, with kids that he didn't even remember having.

That was really whack.

"That L-man's got some serious guts, getting me hitched out of nowhere! Only one fallen angel's got this G--"

He cut off there. Right, that little engagement was no longer a thing, it seemed. But it still seemed a little bit rushed, a little bit-- ugh. If he was placed in this kind of position, what would the best course of action be? He had a responsibility here, right? A real man would face this kind of commitment head on, without running away.

At first he thought about maybe getting a lawyer ( those Gs seemed to solve a bunch of things, it seemed ), but now he thought better.

Yeah, he was going to be a damn good old man. He was going to be the best damn old man this place had ever seen. He had been placed in this position, and a real man would face it head on!

Talk about prioritizing.

IC INFORMATION
Character's Name: Yoko Ogawa ('Ogachin')
Age: Unknown, but presumably older than 25
Canon: Prism
Canon Point: End of Chapter 6
Species: Human
Gender: Female
Orientation: Bi

History: The alcoholic, free-spirited, terrifyingly liberal homeroom teacher for the main cast of Prism.

Not a lot of precise details of Ogawa's history are known, but what we do know is that she has travelled the world a fair bit; she mentions moving into a dorm in London because of her family situation (whatever that was; we never hear that part) and she travels to Belgium for a short while during Chapter 6. Whilst she was living in England (presumably as an international student), she went out with a girl her age in the dorm; they were open about their relationship and it went well. Evidently she moved back to Japan at some point, again we don't know why; Ogawa looks back on it fondly, but it's evident she's put it behind her and moved on ('moved on' meaning moaning about wanting to fall in love again whilst drunk and advising Megumi; she's that sort of person), and presumably passed her teaching assessments somewhere along the line. She currently lives in a flat on Ibiza island (a small island near Japan, not actual Ibiza).

That Ogawa is a foreign languages teacher is an assumption on my part, but makes sense in the context of her travelling; we know she's been to England and Belgium at a minimum.

Within Prism itself, Ogawa acts as a combination of mentor / mostly-responsible-adult to the main pairing, giving advice and support when asked for... and comic relief, since this is Ogachin we're talking about.

Appearance: The manga is black and white, which obviously makes some details hard to call, but Ogawa is a fairly tall, adult woman likely in her late 20s / early 30s with medium length probably-brunette hair and a fondness for turtlenecks, trousers and booze.

Personality: As noted earlier, Ogawa is very much a free-spirit; she encourages people to make their own decisions and do what they feel will make them happy rather than holding themselves back. She is also - surprisingly - a responsible adult; she helps defuse the situation when Hikaru and Megumi are accosted by homophobes, she advises the both of them when they ask for it; helping Megumi come out to her friend and giving relationship advice to Hikaru. Despite being... well, herself, she serves an 'older and wiser' role serving more like an embarrassing but reliable older sister to the two than anything else; she'll help you, then embarrass you forever for it as long as she lives.

She's a lot more serious when she's actually working during teaching hours possibly because she's sober though I suspect this is mostly her taking the teaching part seriously as much as anything else (most of the times we see her are when she's drunk outside of class), though she seems to be quite friendly with the other students (her class call her 'Ogachin'; whilst she tells them not to she still signs off with that when leaving a note in Chapter 6). She is... very liberal, as noted before; she drinks freely when she can, travels the world, helps her students hook up (when asked to) and teases them for it... generally she tends to work hard, play hard. There are very few quiet moments around Ogawa.

Though Ogawa does get involved in Megumi and Hikaru's lives, she is still very hands off; she encourages them to make their own decisions and gives them advice but only actively intervenes when asked to (admittedly Megumi is not aware of that last part) or if they're actually in danger (the aforementioned accosting incident). She's generally a laid-back, carefree, probably a tad lonely goofy big sis figure.

Abilites: None; ordinary human.

Other: Why do so many of my characters have alcohol problems...

Okay, so waking up with a hangover in some random place wasn't that strange - confusing, yes, a little disturbing, true, something that hadn't happened in a while definitely since her student days but at least it wasn't the first time so she generally had an idea of how to go about piecing together what happened where and how to get back in time for class that morning. Waking up in a foreign country though... yeah, that was something new.

And with a shiny new lease agreement.
And with a shiny new car.
And with a shiny new marriage certificate.

Definitely definitely new. Stumbling along the way to contact the wider community through her cell-phone, Yoko tries to fumble a way out of this one.

"S-So um... does anyone know what I had to drink last night?"

Canon Point: 409 Chimera
Species: Human (abnormal)
Gender: Female
Orientation: Helen had had relationships with both men and women

History: helen @ wikia | my written history
1850 August 27: Helen was born to Gregory Magnus & Patricia Heathering
1866 Helen questioned her father as to why Board members of the Royal College were afraid of him
1880's Helen attended Oxford and learned medicine, although she was denied from receiving her degree despite her high marks. Helen later met James Watson, John Druitt, Nikola Tesla and Nigel Griffin and formed a group known as 'The Five'. Helen persuaded her father to show her his greatest work, taking her first steps into the abnormal world. After obtaining a pure sample of the blood of ancient vampires, The Five began working with it to create a serum - the one which gave them their abnormalities
1888 Jack the Ripper began terrorizing London. Helen tried to stop him to help him and failed. Her engagement to John was broken off and with the help of James and Nikola 'paused' her pregnancy by freezing the embryo
1898 Helen & James' help was sought by Adam Worth in the hopes of saving his daughter Imogene from death. Due to the nature of her condition there was little that Helen could do and subsequently both her and James were blamed for Imogene's death. The (UK) Sanctuary also gained its first permanent resident
1900's Following Imogene's death Helen and the other members of The Five were sought out by the King for their 'talents' (although rather as freelance assassins than their actual abilities) in the hopes of stopping Adam Worth
1909 Helen's father travelled to Bolivia in search of a feathered serpent (Quetzalcoatl)
1912 Helen was aboard the Titanic and was saved by Emily Brown
1917 Helen went to Egypt with Nikola in search of the tomb of Tutankhamen where they spent five years searching for it before Howard Carter discovered it
1932 Helen recruited Barney to the Sanctuary Network
1943 January 7: Helen faked Nikola's death, January 18: Helen was in Poland when the Nazi's entered the Warsaw Ghetto and watched as they raised it to the ground
1944 June 5: Helen, James and Nigel travelled to France (Carentan) as part of a resistance group, aiming to stop a plan that was being put into place by the Nazi's
1945 May 7: Helen was present in Reim when the Nazi's surrendered
1950's Helen treated a Bigfoot after he'd been shot, giving him a place on her staff after he refused to leave
1985 Helen rescued Will Zimmerman from an abnormal which killed his mother
1986 December 8: Gave birth to her daughter, Ashley
1990's Helen 'adopts' Henry and brings him to the Sanctuary, keeping him under her care
1998 The north tower of the Sanctuary underwent renovations
2008 Helen recruited Will Zimmerman to the Sanctuary. The team also run into trouble as they catch the attention of the Cabal, a centuries old organisation whom also holds an interest in abnormals - but not for the same goals. Despite keeping tabs on the Cabal they manage to set off a deadly virus that turns abnormals into vicious killers, something that needs more than just Helen's help
2009 After defending abnormals from an attack by the Cabal The Five meet, travelling to Bhalasaam in order to retrieve the Source Blood in order to devise a cure. Following this Helen's daughter Ashley is taken by the Cabal, using the stolen Source Blood to turn her into a weapon. Helen defends the Sanctuary Network against the Cabal and with no choice left Ashley sacrifices herself in order to save both her mother and the Sanctuary. Helen at first struggles to grieve for Ashley, refusing to let her go. When Ashley's birthday comes round she struggles with it again, unable to ask for the help and comfort that she needs
2010 Months later saw the world nearly destroyed after an abnormal known as Big Bertha was discovered and was used to create tidal waves. Although originally stopped in her efforts Helen, along with Will, managed to calm Big Bertha, getting her to rest again. After communicating with the spirits Will received a message from Helen's father, one that opened up a whole new world - and brought back a former enemy - to them all
2011 After travelling to Hollow Earth Helen attempted to keep relationships open, although they were yet unable to trust 'surface dwellers'. After believing Adam Worth dead Helen continued regular Sanctuary operations, although when problems arose - particularly with temporal fields - it was discovered that Adam was in fact not dead. After learning of his plan and being unable to stop him Helen followed him through a portal that he'd created, travelling back to 1898

1898 After following Adam Worth to London Helen had to try and prevent him from curing his daughter, Imogene, from her illness to prevent any alterations to the timeline. After doing so, and realising that she was unable to return home, Helen travelled to Napal under the name of Helen Bancroft
1916 Helen travelled to New York to meet up with Nikola Tesla, securing a position at Lahore University
1921 Helen attented a private symposium in London hosted by Viscount in honour of Albert Einstein
1948 Helen worked with Fuller at Black Mountain University, North Carolina
1956 In Peru Helen was on the Board of Directors in the Great South American Mining Corporation
1964 Helen opened a provisions store in Cooper Pedy, Australia
2011 Helen returned to Old City, making her way back to the Sanctuary in order to tend to the problem that had arisen from the Hollow Earth abnormals after the original Helen had left for London. Putting her plan into motion, Helen cut of ties and funding with the world's governments, taking the Sanctuary Network 'rogue'. This ran into troubles after the government retaliated by creating SCUI - a government division that aimed to capture and 'study' abnormals, although not in a way that Helen liked. By working against them, by freeing abnormals and stopping them where possible, along with trying to help the Hollow Earth abnormals to set up their own living arrangements Helen ran into trouble. Although it would seem unexpected Helen knew that the possibility for it was there. When there appeared to be no way to go, with conflicts on both the human and abnormal sides Helen put her end game plan into motion; the final culmination of her plan involved the destruction of the Old City Sanctuary, with all residents from the Sanctuary Network and those under her protection from Hollow Earth returning to a new Hollow Earth
Appearance:
Helen is played by Amanda Tapping | icons. Helen stands at 5'9" (in flat foot) and 5'12" or 6' in heels. Her hair reaches just past her shoulders and is dark brown (dyed) in colour which she wears down, either straight, slightly waved or in curled waves, or with part of it clipped back. Helen also has blue eyes. Although Helen was born in the Victorian Era (1850), she dresses appropriately for the current day due to living through the years. Helen's dress is moderately conservative, often featuring suit jackets, long sleeved tops or shirts with skirts/pants or occasionally dresses. Helen's footwear consists mostly of heels, though often she will wear boots. She also have various long coats and jackets depending on the need of her mission. Although Helen is 274 she hasn't visably aged since she was 36 when the experimentation with the blood of the Sanguine Vampiris began and Helen received her abnormality of longevity. When conducting an autopsy or other medical work, Helen will wear a traditional lab coat fitting of being a doctor.
Personality:
One of the first things to know and remember about Helen is that she is first and foremost a Victorian woman. While she may not hold high many of the standards expected of a woman from that time it doesn't change her upbringing and overall demeanour, and whilst she has adapted to integrate herself with the changing times she is still the same woman at heart. She is a particularly private person, a mix from her need for privacy in her work, her experiences but also due to her upbringing. Helen doesn't talk freely about her feelings and will take care of others before herself. If Helen does talk about herself or her past it is usually in brief detail and the conversation is rapidly cut short if it takes a turn into matters that she is unwilling to discuss. Even those that Helen considers herself friends with know very little about her life, barring her long-standing friends.

Etiquette is something that Helen holds to the highest regard and will let you know should something that you do or say cross her boundaries into disrespect or bad etiquette. A testament to this was in an alternate timeframe when, even though the world was ending, Helen requested that the young girl that she was with told her her name – stating that ❝ proper etiquette would be to offer your name in return ❞. Helen also has a lot of pride for herself and her work and does not take kindly to anyone demeaning that or her authority. She's an intelligent woman and very loyal - if she cares about you or you're a friend she will protect you and will do so regardless of any other influences. Helen employs a strong "do no harm" ethic due to her status as a medical doctor and her wish to protect any abnormal and person. She is unwilling to harm or even kill any individual without a spectacularly good reason, often placing her own life in danger above that of whom she would rather save, an example of this being John Druitt whom she has tried to save for over a century despite his actions towards herself and others.

In her work Helen employs some strict sensibilities which aide in protecting both her work and her patients. While she may not relax often, and only takes a weekend long break every seven years, Helen does know how to relax and enjoy herself. She knows how to make light of a situation and has a distinctive sense of humour, though it's only seen when the time is appropriate. As well as being protective over people’s lives she is also protective over their beliefs or interests. Helen has long understood the personal dangers of the job, the lack of being able to communicate it to others ( ❝ dinner parties are hell ❞ ) and allows her staff the relaxation and personal time that they so need. Her protective nature is also very compassionate and though it may be hard for Helen to relate to others she does truly try.

Helen is a strong woman both physically and mentally. It takes a lot for Helen to lose control over herself in a situation or to act rashly or without calm. One thing, or rather person, which does alter this is Helen's daughter Ashley. Whenever Ashley is in danger, or even when she was kidnapped by the Cabal, Helen fought for her and even placed her work in danger to rescue her daughter. Another individual who causes Helen to lose clarity in situations is John Druitt. Despite his actions Helen was unable to fully sever her feelings for him or truly hate him due to their past, instead burying them deep. Whilst Helen may have feared John when he first came back into her life, his actions and events that unfolded have shown that he will not hurt her or the Sanctuary. While she may not fully be able to trust him, Helen is able to place enough trust in him to allow him to help. Her own actions of wishing to help him shows that she does still care for him also, whether or not she will admit it.

Helen is an incredibly proud woman, something that she has been ever since she was a young girl. One thing that Helen prides herself on most is her knowledge and skills, as along with day to day life she requires them for her work. She is also proud of them because they are statements of what she has accomplished in life and her dedication to what she does. Helen is dedicated not only to her work but also to those that are involved in it. It is her job to protect not only her patients but those that she works with.

Helen is also incredibly stubborn and has admitted that she is incredibly used to gtting her own way, and it has been mentioned that there hasn't been a compromise that she hasn't just steamrollered through. By having worked independently for so long (despite the government funding) Helen has been able to act for herself and built up the Sanctuary Network through her determination. An example of this is when Helen first studied to become a doctor. Despite having the knowledge, skill and becoming licensed the Royal College refused to allow Helen to practise medicine, although that did not cease Helen nor her quest to become a practising doctor. Helen requested that her father share his work with her and began to help him research, later legally practising medicine after further laws changed and she was permitted to do so.

Although Helen doesn't regret her actions that brought about her longevity there are many things in her life and many actions that she has taken that she does regret. She has commented that in her life she has taken many risks, but after having to 'watch' her life for 113 years (after travelling back in time), this has allowed her to see that not all of the decisions that she has made were the best choices ( ❝ watching everything unfold again, for better or worse. Watching every mistake I made play out again. I had to let terrible things happen, Will, and do nothing to change them ❞ ).

Due to Helen's extended life she has seen the world change many times and knows that she will again. Though she keeps herself apprised of global affairs, mainly to protect the abnormal community, Helen herself is less involved with them than she was in past years. Political affairs also hold less of an interest to Helen and, unless she is specifically asked, she will keep away from them. When Helen is not researching abnormals she makes time to present lectures on varying abnormal theories, though she has been told that her lectures are rather boring.

    SUPERNATURAL ABILITIES
Helen possesses the abnormality of longevity which has permitted her extended lifespan and youthful appearance - as told by James Watson she hasn't changed since spring of 1886. Her longevity comes from her blood, something which is unique in itself. Due to injecting a serum derived from the Source Blood Helen's blood contains Vampiric properties (although she is not a Vampire herself). Along with longevity, the properties within her blood grant Helen extra 'perks' within her extended life. Helen is able to survive with very little sleep, stating previously that she only requires a couple of hours each night and only does so when her patients are asleep themselves - although Helen often goes without that when things are busy or of a pressing nature. The Vampiric properties also provide Helen with a heightened immune system (she was immune to a toxin that had been designed to infect abnormals) and likely has a heightened immunity to colds and illnesses also. Helen's immunity, however, has limits. As Helen is not immortal (and does not possess accelerated healing likes the Vampires) and is only human she is capable of dying, something that has happened previously. The Vampiric properties also make Helen extremely durable. An example of this comes from John Druitt (who had also been injected by the Source Blood along with Helen's own blood) who was still conscious after receiving a 10,000 volt stun and three tranquilisers. Helen herself has also shown this - after being caught in an explosion she received only minor injures and was able to continue moving after being hit by a sonic blast. Finally, Helen's blood also has the capabilities of extending life (as it is her blood that extends her own life).
    OTHER ABILITIES
Helen is also a medical doctor and specialises in xenobiology, cryptozoology and teratology (along with human medicine). She studied and became a licensed doctor in the ninteenth century, pushing the boundaries of science with her research into abnormals - research that she continues today. Helen is also knowledgable in most areas. Given the need for secrecy within Helen's work she cannot call in a specialist to the Sanctuary and therefore has needed to know and learn the skills herself (for example canon has shown her conducting autopsies, delivering abnormals, conducting brain examinations, surgeries and genetic research). Helen is also skilled in chemistry and it was her own work and research that allowed The Five to derive a serum from the Source Blood.

Helen is also a polyglot and speaks many languages (more than we'll ever know). In canon she's shown speaking eight languages (including English) and is also knowledgeable in Ancient Vampire, forms of Sign Language and Latin. Due to her position in the Sanctuary Network (including her travelling and setting up Sanctuary's in other countries) it can be assumed that she is knowledgeable (to a passable level) in various other languages - especially those where her Sanctuary's are located.

Helen is also a very capable woman and a fighter. She's quick at thinking on her feet and shows little fear, mostly due to the amount of things that she's seen in her life. She's stronger than she looks (she took on Jack the Ripper and won), far more durable (she was caught by the fire and blast of a plane explosion and sonic blast) and has been described (on multiple occasions) as a threat. She's skilled in hand to hand combat as well as various weaponry (although she favours either a stun gun, tranquiliser gun or a regular gun). She's also a skilled pilot, can manoeuvre a submarine and drive in both left and right hand drive cars. She can also ride a motorcycle. Her fake (and foreign) accents are also not too shabby.
    WEAKNESSES/LIMITATIONS
Helen's first, and main weakness is that she is still human. Despite the Source Blood and her abnormality she is still human and susceptible to injury and death. She can be killed by normal means (and has been previously) and despite her heightened immune system can still become ill (for example radiation sickness).

Another of Helen's weaknesses is her compassion. If Helen cares about you (which is likely if you don't anger her nor piss her off - with exceptions) it will cloud her judgement somewhat and she will place saving your life above anything else - especially her own life. Two of her sorer subjects for this are her daughter (Ashley) and her former lover (John Druitt). In the case of Ashley she would do anything to save her. When offered the trade of Ashley's life for the Sanctuary Network Helen declined, as although Ashley is important to her and she wished to save her she couldn't sacrifice her work - but she did this with a plan in mind to save Ashley (and doubts that the Cabal would have given Ashley to her). After Ashley died she remarked (when seeing visions of her) that she was her life, even going so far later as to find a way to end her longevity so as to be able to die of 'normal' ageing. In regards to John? Despite what happens and what he does she is unable to kill him. Speaking of him, particularly negatively, despite his actions will result in an unpleasant look from Helen or provoke some irritation in her. Despite her attempts to hate and revile him for his actions it is hard to fully cut off all other feelings for him. He is the one person that she has truly loved and it's possible that she still feels that love for him - something that she will never admit nor wish to act on due to the pain, anger and their (especially his) past. It is these feelings that make Helen prefer to help him rather than put an end to him, especially after Ashley's death - she was their remaining connection and now he is her remaining connection to Ashley and she couldn't bear to lose them both (especially not after the losing Nigel, James and then almost Nikola also). Additionally to this, Helen will place the lives of both abnormals and humans above anything else, preferring to stun or sedate something rather than kill it - her gun is more often stocked with tranquilliser rounds than bullets. Helen will only kill something as a last resort or in the face of extreme danger.

One other thing that Helen seems to do badly with is looking after herself. Despite caring for others and the role that she takes within the Sanctuary and in others life Helen is spectacularly terrible at looking after herself - something which is exacerbated in a crisis. Helen often has to be reminded to eat - which sometimes still becomes forgotten due to the crisis - and often refuses to sleep whilst something is happening or until she knows that all of her residents are safe and/or asleep themselves.

First Person: one from sirenspull | or one from scorched

Third Person:
One hundred and thirteen years. At first the prospect of solitude for such a length of time had seemed ridiculous, never mind impossible - this was the woman that took a weekend length vacation every seven years; she simply couldn't manage any more. But she had been wrong. As the days had gone on Helen had found it a little easier to relax, a little easier to slip into a life of peace and... well, nothing. One hundred and thirteen years may still have seemed like a long time but as time went on it seemed more bearable.

She'd had much to think on; one hundred and sixty years had been a long time, particularly when she'd never given herself this opportunity previously. It was an understatement to say that much had happened to her, although with as much pleasures that were also part of that Helen had a tendency to remember the more painful parts of her life more quickly; especially Ashley. Helen may never admit it but as much as she blamed herself for her daughters death she also blamed John. Who he was and that damned ability of his. Without that-

She was ten years into her solitude. Ten years into her damned one hundred and thirteen year 'vacation'. Even still there were things that she didn't wish to think on - couldn't bring herself to think on. Her outburst towards John had made her realise how much pain and anger she still felt towards him. He'd hurt her more than she ever wished to acknowledge and being confronted by that, by seeing her past had made her realise just how much she still hurt. They may have been on more amicable terms when she'd left for London but he was one of many wounds that refused to close.

As much as her life afforded her Helen still viewed it as a curse. Outliving everyone that you knew, watching your friends, even lovers grow old and die? And sometimes without being able to grow old. She didn't see how she could view it as anything else. Her only thanks with it was that she wasn't immortal - one day she would die, either through coming to the end of her life span or through other means. And even though she'd managed to find some peace in the past ten years it was then that she believed that she would truly find peace.

IC INFORMATION
Characters Name: Katniss Everdeen
Age: 17
Canon: The Hunger Games
Canon Point: Catching Fire, end of Chapter 12, just after the announcement of the Quarter Quell
Species: Human
Gender: Female
Orientation: For all intents and purposes, Katniss is heterosexual. Though not demonstrating much of an interest in such things for most of her life due to a focus on other priorities (like providing for her family and staying alive), the “star-crossed lovers” charade with Peeta in the arena begins to awaken some very real feelings, which only become more prevalent and confused as the series progresses.

History: Here!

Appearance: For a girl her age, Katniss is small and thin; in fact, she was one of the smallest tributes during the 74th Hunger Games. She has dark hair (usually held back in a braid), olive skin, and gray eyes. She will be played by Jennifer Lawrence, the same actress who portrayed her in the recent film adaptation.

Personality:
“Katniss is the mockingjay. She is the thing that should never have been created, that the Capitol never intended to happen. In the same way they just let the jabberjays go and thought, ‘We don’t have to worry about them,’ they thought, ‘We don’t have to worry about District 12.’ And this new creature evolved, which is the mockingjay, which is Katniss.”
-Author Suzanne Collins, “The Last Battle: With ‘Mockingjay’ on its way, Suzanne Collins weighs in on Katniss and the Capitol” (Interview located here)

Like that titular and symbolic mockingjay, the new species of bird created when the genetically-engineered, Capitol-sponsored “jabberjays” began to mate with female mockingbirds in the wild, Katniss Everdeen is the product of a host of unforeseen circumstances. In the dark, dystopic future of Panem, a nation of oppression, where the majority suffer on the whims and excesses of the few, where children are forced to their deaths annually for the sole purpose of spectacle, that brazen uniqueness about her, that distinct spirit that just can’t be taken away, is something that truly stands out. And ultimately, the feisty “Girl on Fire” goes on to inspire a revolution.

Katniss hails from District 12, the smallest and poorest of Panem’s districts, and in particular from the Seam, the poorest area of the district. Up until volunteering as tribute for the 74th Hunger Games and then being whisked away to the Capitol, poverty has been the only reality that she has known, and thus survival, the drive to do whatever it takes to survive, is practically hardwired into her DNA. To only add to this, the Everdeen family has had to overcome great personal tragedy. When Katniss was just eleven years old, her father, a coal miner, died in an accident in the mines. After his death, her mother fell into a depression so severe that she was unable to care for Katniss and her younger sister, Prim. Thus, Katniss was forced to step into the role of the main provider for the family, taking on a huge number of responsibilities at a young age and thus being forced to grow up very quickly.

Because of these early life experiences, Katniss had to become independent and self-reliant. With a deceased father and a virtually absent mother, there was no one to care for her or to guide her gently through the world. Using skills and knowledge taught to her by her father before he died, such as archery and identification of edible plants, Katniss began to turn to the woods as a way to provide for her family, eventually teaming up and becoming hunting partners with Gale Hawthorne (who would later become her best friend). While hunting and trading hunted game on the black market is technically illegal in District 12, law enforcement tends to be lax, and the enforcers (or “Peacekeepers”) tend to interact with the general population than what may be seen in other districts. Thus, Katniss is able to continue to go into the woods, not only using it as a means of providing food, but also as a place of solace. According to Gale, Katniss never smiles except when she’s in the woods.

While being as self-reliant as she is, Katniss also possesses a strong instinct to protect her loved ones, or those she sees as needing her protection. This is, of course, most evident in the case of her younger sister, Prim. Katniss loves Prim more than anyone else in the world, and would literally do anything for her, including make the ultimate sacrifice; when Prim’s name was called at the reaping for the 74th Hunger Games, Katniss volunteered to take her place almost immediately. This is an instinct that carries her through many aspects of her life. For instance, during the Hunger Games, Katniss begins to feel protective over Rue, the 12-year-old tribute from District 11. Rue very strongly reminded Katniss of Prim, and thus the instinct carried over naturally. As time goes on, however, others begin to enter the fray of people Katniss fights tooth and nail to protect. In particular, Katniss has a strong desire to keep Peeta Mellark, her fellow tribute from District 12, alive, a desire that only becomes stronger as their lives become progressively more intertwined.

Because of her experiences, and her strong determination to both survive and provide for her loved ones, Katniss has allowed herself to become hardened and closed-off, pushing her own base emotions off to the side. They simply do not serve a purpose in her world. And besides, who knows who could be seeing your weakness and using it against you later? In her view, it’s best to keep that collected head that is useful on the hunt, and she has quite a talent for staying logical in a variety of situations. But such a modus operandi may come with a price.

By being so narrowly focused on her own life goals, and not being very well tuned-in to her emotional side(outside of her love for her family, of course), Katniss does not readily pick up on social and emotional cues from others. For instance, Gale has been her best friend for five years, and not once did she even entertain the possibility that he had romantic feelings for her, until he kissed her that one day after she returned from the 74th Hunger Games. (For most of her life, romance hasn’t been something to register on her radar; multiple times over the years, she has stated that she does not want marriage or children, due to the possibility that those children might be forced into the Hunger Games themselves.) She goes along with the “star-crossed lovers” charade with Peeta in the arena, not realizing until after the Games are over that it might not have been so much of a charade for him. This doesn’t just apply to the romance department; it took years for Katniss to come to the realization that Madge, the Mayor’s daughter, was actually her friend.

Limits to Katniss’s knowledge can also be seen in the realm of politics. Having grown up in the poorest part of District 12, and most likely not having had access to better education, her worldview is understandably narrow. For instance, on the night before the 74th Hunger Games, Katniss does not quite understand what Peeta means when he states that he still wants to die as himself, rather than allow the Capitol to simply use him as a piece in their games, and becomes angry with him after this conversation. However, as the trilogy progresses, her political awareness becomes more sophisticated, and there comes a point when she begins to understand what had been unconsciously inside of her all along: that she resents being someone else’s pawn, that she wants more than anything to defy those who are trying to make her their pawn and break free of their control. Upon the end of each book in the trilogy, whether she realizes it or not, by what appear to be small, simple acts, Katniss always manages to find the third option, the one unforeseen by those in power, the ones that want to target her.

At the end of the day, Katniss is still very much a teenage girl (at her canon pull point, she is seventeen years old), and one that has been thrust into horrific circumstances and had nightmarish experiences to boot. As canon progresses, she grows increasingly frustrated by her situation, and can be prone to lash out at kindness offered to her with hostility. Careful emotional control will invariably spiral away from her in moments of extreme distress, giving way to the other, more destructive side of the “fire” in her personality. She can be rash and impulsive, and demonstrate one hell of a temper during these states, as evidenced by a number of canon events. For instance, in Catching Fire, upon learning that she will have to return to the arena for the second time, Katniss runs off aimlessly, puts her hand through a glass window, and gets drunk as a skunk for the first time in her life. Upon being told by Haymitch, her mentor, that Peeta has been picked up by the Capitol, in her rage, she proceeds to scratch at Haymitch’s face with all of the strength she can muster.

Abilites:
Katniss is a normal human from a non-fantastical world (just a grim dystopia), and therefore has no supernatural abilities. She does, however, have a number of skills and a whole host of knowledge that enable her to survive horrible and extreme circumstances. Thanks to careful teachings from her father during her childhood, Katniss has exceptional skill with a bow and arrow, even to the extent that she’s able to shoot squirrels in the eye and an apple out of a dead pig’s mouth in front of the Gamemakers, and a good working knowledge of edible and poisonous plants. From hunting with her friend Gale, she has learned a great deal about traps and snares, and thus is more than capable of surviving and obtaining food even in the absence of her weapon of choice. Her nuanced skills in tree-climbing have also saved her life on more than one occasion, and, in general, she has a good head on her shoulders regarding what it takes to make it through hardship. And finally, though she may be reluctant to show it, especially after her father’s death, Katniss also has an exceptional singing voice that the mockingjays will stop to listen to (which is a sign of respect).

First Person: Old thread from Paradisa here

Third Person:
She’s walked this path a million times. It’s as natural to her as breathing. Every curve, every dip she can navigate without thinking.

In fact, as her feet tread those familiar steps, quiet and catlike, for once, she has no thoughts at all. She’s been granted a temporary reprieve from the images that continually haunt her nightmares and sometimes lurk just at the edge of consciousness during her waking hours. The sight of her own burning flesh. The full effects of tracker jacker venom she’d been able to narrowly escape. Those mutts ripping Cato to shreds, that had once stared up at her with very human eyes, one pair of which had previously been accompanied by the dying smile of a trusted ally…--

… No. Right now, she’s only focused on one thing. The destination before her.

With one quick, futile check for the hum of electricity, with one unceremonious slip under the fence, she’s back where she belongs. In the woods. In the one place where she’s free. She allows herself one moment’s pause, taking in her surroundings and inhaling deeply, letting that lungful of air rush through her bloodstream and detox every cell in her body of Capitol contamination.

Of course, she knows the moment will only be brief at best. The prospect of the Victory Tour is a dark cloud already hanging over her head, and she knows she can’t escape forever. Something in her, buried deep down, that she’s avoiding like the plague, knows that her life has been irrevocably changed. She’s a victor now, and when you’re a victor, there’s no going back.

But in this one brief moment, as her hand clutches her bow, as her senses calm and steady for the hunt, for the first time since stepping off the train and back into District 12, she feels like she’s home.

She’ll cling to that feeling for as long as she can.

Characters Name: Elijah Elkwood, also known by his alias as "Mr. Gabriel"
Age: 25
Canon: Todd Allison and the Petunia Violet
Canon Point: Shortly after their last appearance in chapter 9.
Species: Human.
Gender: Male.
Orientation:  Elijah won't be comfortable with a wife for the reason that since his early childhood he has been troubled and, quite frankly, traumatized by most females (Crazy murderous aunts, and a relationship gone wrong). He won't be comfortable with a husband either due to the fact that he disdains people in general, and his firm belief that they just as well disdain him. Elijah may as well be currently asexual, as he doesn't seem to be interested in pursuing relationships in the slightest. The only person he is ever comfortable around is Meredith.

History: Since there is no wiki for it yet, here’s the comic source! The setting of our story is 1920’s Melbourne, Australia. Yes, you got your flappers, your crooks, your “rotten bastards” and a handful of charismatic characters. The city is currently under a tense stand-still due to an array of five unforeseen bombings within the chain of government buildings. The suspected arsonist is a mysterious, unknown woman named only Violet- and the government has set up a specific team of specialists to bring her to justice. The story closely revolves around these events and the links between them and the characters that are introduced into each setting, one by one. Let’s rewind a bit, back to the place of Elijah Elkwood’s childhood...

As of yet, not much is known of Elijah’s birthplace, although it can be safely assumed he was born where he was raised; that being Perth, Australia. Elijah, as well as his family, are all Australian Aborigine. He lived with his Mother, his little sister: Petunia, and his adopted brother, Meredith. Elijah’s childhood, from what we can tell in flashbacks and side stories, is abundant in pleasant, happy memories and fond stories of sibling affection. Elijah’s sister, Petunia, recalls these memories as images of her previous life in Perth, surrounded by the protection and comfort of her brothers. In the comic she tells of Elijah’s courage and bravery when they were children, and of his intelligence and ability to prove himself as a encouraging older brother. He “stood up against things he thought were wrong.”, and according to Petunia: “Nothing could stop him.” Elijah, smart and confident, was said to be a quick thinker and a great conversationalist.

The artist Nozmo once briefly summarized Elijah in his early teens (15 years old), as a bookworm who always knew what to say or do in a sticky situation. He gave great advice and was always up for a all or nothing deal. Elijah’s old love of reading is definitely brought into light in the present setting of the story- namely, his clever use of words and phrasing. Years past, and Elijah and Meredith mature into adulthood. For reasons that are still unknown to us, he and Meredith set off to Melbourne, perhaps to start off in their careers in the booming world of politics. I will be taking Elijah from when he meets up again with Meredith in Parliament. (Ch. 9)

Appearance: ONE & TWO.  Elijah carries the dark complexion of the aboriginals of western Australia. His skin is fairly clear, and he has no visible markings as of yet. His hair is short, and everywhere! Well, sort of. It's just wavy, and tends to stick out in ends from all sides- that is if he hasn't pulled a comb through it (and even then one little strand always manages to stick up.) His hair is a unique shade of naturally light purple- his sister Petunia also shares a bright hair color like him. His eyes are a light blue color.

[personal profile] varmint 2012-09-01 07:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Personality: From the complex mind of Elijah himself, a multitude of personalities reside both in secret and in face. He has learned to keep his emotions in balance between the world he has stepped into and the one he ultimately left behind.

DEFAULT SUAVE JERK MODE.
Perhaps Elijah’s most common display of character- his keen, smooth-talking persona. Throughout the comic Elijah glides in and out of this state, and it is as natural to him as fitting on a glove. He retains a more level-headed piece of mind, and tends to come off almost as arrogant. Whether it’s making a deal with a slightly worrisome mercenary or having someone crash into him in the hall, Elijah maintains his perfected mask, although it will often slip at the tell-tale sign of a joke or a shock. Elijah knows when to “turn on the charm” so to speak, even if it is for something as diminutive as making small talk. Elijah has been known to use his sly demeanor to pull information from others, or change the odds in a certain situation. He isn’t easily intimidated when in this phase, although it’s safe to say Elijah’s overall atmosphere makes it very difficult to try and intimidate.

THE JOKER.
So really, Elijah isn’t always a venomous, grinning, otherwise intelligent business stick in the mind. With his own erratic plans conducted in his mind, come the triggers that release a very inappropriate sense of humor. Elijah finds things funny, both in a cynical and obvious way, depending on how he sees it. He had to hold back laughter after he and Meredith were blatantly hit on by one Mr. Cyril, and he could barely contain himself when poor Meredith had honestly and openly admitted that he was “romantic, in that old, funny sort of way.” (He actually COULDN’T contain himself and ended up in a laughing fit either way). Elijah is almost more light-hearted in this sense, as he often finds ways to amuse himself whilst trudging through work and evil schemes (whatever THOSE may be). While Elijah really has no problem taking jabs at other people, it doesn’t mean he won’t go out of his way to make others laugh. With Meredith, it was in the form of apology (although he would never admit it.) Making stupid faces until Meredith laughed was a confirmation that almost all was in fact, forgiven. It would be an overstatement to assume Elijah was something of a prankster, as he has never actually tried to prank anyone or spend most of his time finding things humorous- but it is something to take note of. The fact that Elijah, under the speculated layers of his skin, actually has a sense of humor (and bad taste, at that) is something all in itself.

THE BIG BROTHER.
Elijah’s world is centered perfectly on its axis, and it’s towering pillars are made up of his motives, his job, and the people he loves more than anything. Dark and daunting he may be, Elijah holds a firm grip on his affections towards his siblings. His love ranges from silly pet names to overprotective murderous mode: “What did he do?! I’ll fucking cut that son of a bitch!!” When it comes to his little sister Petunia, Elijah drops all inhibition and turns into a complete, slobbery big brother mess. He showers her with compliments, endearments, and fawns over her a great deal. To Elijah, Petunia is simply the “smartest, cutest, prettiest, everything about her is RADIANT,” and more. During their childhood, the author explains Elijah was the one who doted over her the most, although it was quite clear he and Meredith loved Petunia equally and without fail. It is rather uncommon of a villain to show such honest love and attachment to a (still living) sibling, but it is actually a grave reminder of how human Elijah actually is. His unconditional love for them only further proves the complexity of his own emotions. Elijah’s love does not only come in affections, however. When Petunia becomes upset because of Elijah and Meredith’s decision to move to Melbourne, Elijah promptly and seethingly stops her in her tracks and makes his intentions known, no questions asked. It was obvious that Petunia wanted to follow Elijah and Meredith into the big city, but Elijah knew- he could not place her in such a world. A world in which, even despite Elijah’s decision, found its way into Petunia’s life forever. After she left home on her own, she faced discrimination, segregation, and hardship. It was clear then, that Elijah wanted to protect her from what he knew he would eventually face.

And then there is Meredith, whom perhaps is the only other person who knows Elijah better than Elijah knows himself. Elijah and Meredith share a history reaching back to their childhood, when Meredith first came into the Elkwood family and was introduced to who would be his first and only best friend. As much as he dotes on his petite baby sister, Elijah also shares the same admiration for Meredith. When Meredith loses yet another game of chess and refuses to play again, Elijah pinches his cheeks and calls him “an adorable baby”. Clearly, Elijah labels himself as the older, playful big brother who would indeed do anything for his siblings, as well as do everything in his power to embarrass them. Meredith is not so easy to pester, however, and therein lies many of the problems he and Elijah face not only as foster brothers, but as a team. Elijah is openly honest with Meredith, almost to a fault. He exposes perhaps the few questions he has only ever asked himself in secret to Meredith, such as the one line that sums up many of his actions: “Meredith, am I a villain?” In the comic, we see that Meredith agreed that he was, but it was only when situations became worse did his expression show he was actually beginning to believe it. Elijah knows when to apologize to Meredith, although he doesn’t do it as well as he should. He feels guilt, especially when it has affected Meredith in some way.

THE VILLAIN.
Petunia once said, “Even now, Elijah is still the same, except sometimes when I look into his eyes, something in them is burning.” This sentence sums up perhaps Elijah’s most complex personality of them all. Aside from the mysterious entity known as Violet, Elijah seems to have made himself into the main villain of the story. Not only by action, but also by reflection of his own character, and of his own doing. It’s easy to see Elijah knows he does terrible things (kidnapping government officials, leaving your younger sister in the hands of a killer, indulging in torture and pain...) and it is true, that he knows the difference between right and wrong. Being the intelligent man that he is, Elijah can detect when others are affected by him. He labels himself a villain, and one must wonder if it is purely out of self-pity for himself that he does, or if it is perhaps a self-acknowledgement that he understands is long overdue. Instead of enlightenment, he feels hopelessness, or even an obligation to his new found identity. If Elijah truly has changed as his sister said, then he’s incredibly aware of it. Elijah often takes on a darker image that does not reflect his default, mischievous exterior- in fact, it overlaps it. What Petunia describes as a “burning” is perhaps Elijah’s own intent showing through from his heart. Just as his passion strives for the familiarity of his siblings, so does his passions for making sure his own plans and wishes all come true. As mentioned above in his motivation, it is most likely that something affected him during his early adulthood- something that changed him, or meant to change him all together. Whatever it was, it seemed to have done the trick, and has shaped Elijah into a dead on, one-track mind.

Third Person:It's 2am, and Elijah is in the kitchen.

On the small side table, to be specific- with a good few stacks of documents settled on one side, and newspapers on the other. It would've been a usual sight to see, him eyeing his work with a hand on his chin and the other balancing a pen between his fingers. But fortunately, for him, he wasn't dressed down to the nail- in fact his simple dress shirt was looked a little worn.

Elijah glances at his watch, then back to his papers. Something is in the oven- warm, and sweet. It smells pretty good...a more rural lifestyle wouldn't be so much of a dramatic change for him, really. But it had been some time- since he could properly place the emotion that was a domestic familiarity to the world.

No, nothing of marriage, or children, or valued legitimate jobs. That is, not until now...

IC INFORMATION
Characters Name: Momoko Touyoko
Age: not specifically stated, but I'd put her at 16 (she's a high school first year)
Canon: Saki
Canon Point: The national tournament arc, after her team's arrival in Tokyo to cheer on Saki's team
Species: human
Gender: female, physically and mentally
Orientation: lesbian; this is not explicitly stated, but strongly implied in her relationship with Yumi Kajiki, one of her teammates. Momoko clings to Yumi a lot (which leads to Yumi telling her "not here" when she does it in public at one point), and gets jealous of Yumi's budding friendship with another girl to the point where Yumi feels the need to reassure her that "nothing happened."

History: Momoko is the ultimate wallflower. She's so lacking in social presence that most people fail to notice her at all unless she does something outlandish, like randomly breaking out into song and dance. Deciding that the effort it took to get people to even acknowledge her existence wasn't worth it, Momoko gave up on the very idea of communicating with others, drifting through life like a ghost. That all changed when she entered Tsuruga Academy, though. She started playing online mahjong on Tsuruga's network, where her skills attracted the attention of members of the mahjong club. Momoko politely declined their invitations to join, but one of them--an upperclasswoman named Yumi Kajiki--was so taken with Momoko's abilities that she tracked down the classroom she was playing in. Yumi barged into that classroom . . . and, of course, was unable to tell that Momoko was there, even though she knew she had to be. Rather than give up, though, Yumi loudly declared that she "wanted" Momoko.

For Momoko, this was a huge surprise. No one had ever sought her out like that before, and it jolted her out of her self-imposed hermitage. She joined the mahjong club, where her lack of presence became a key aspect of her playstyle: her opponents tend to overlook what she's doing, playing into her hand without realizing it and allowing her to take risky moves without consequence. Momoko also gained an intense personal loyalty--well, something of a crush, really--towards Yumi. Spending time with Yumi brought Momoko to the conclusion that, perhaps, communication with others wasn't such a waste of time after all. She's since befriended the rest of the mahjong club, as well as the members of other school mahjong clubs hers competed against in a prefectural tournament. As of the latest chapters, Momoko and the rest of the Tsuruga crew have gone to Tokyo to cheer Kiyosumi--the winners of that tournament--on in the national inter-high competition.
Appearance: bam!
Personality: One might expect that Momoko's "talent" for being overlooked is the result of an extremely introverted personality, but this isn't the case; it's more like a physical condition. Momoko's personality is actually rather friendly, even outgoing under the right circumstances. She tends to be casual in her speech and in her dealings with others, and has no trouble bein' mucho affectionate when it comes to people she's particularly attached to (i.e. Yumi). As her hugginess with Yumi suggests, she has an excitable side--when Momoko is interested in someone or something, she tends to get really worked up about it, as is also seen when her teammate Satomi offers to tell her stories about Yumi's past.

However, you can't go through life as a living phantom without it having some influence on your behavior. Momoko's friendly personality is tempered with a certain pessimism, especially when it comes to her interactions with others. This isn't an angsty pessimism so much as it is a quiet, contented resignation. When relating her past, Momoko notes that she never found living the way she did particularly hard--she just sort of gave up, and that was that. Even now that she's left her self-imposed exile behind, Momoko still seems resigned to the idea that most people won't even notice her, and that she has little to offer even if they did; at one point she's shown thinking that her only value to Yumi lies in her mahjong skills. (She's moved to tears later when Yumi makes it clear that isn't the case.) As a result, she doesn't always make the biggest effort to get to know others; this can be seen in her tendency to refer to people by nicknames rather than bothering to use their real ones.

However, if one manages to pierce the veils of Momoko's social stealth and the resigned attitude towards relationships that goes with it, one has a friend for life. She latches on hard to people who manage that, with the most notable example being Yumi. Momoko is joined to her beloved upperclasswoman at the hip; they're rarely seen apart throughout the series, and Momoko shows flashes of a jealous side when Yumi starts getting close to Hisa, the head of the Kiyosumi mahjong club.
Abilites: Momoko is a fairly skilled mahjong player, but her main "ability" is her aforementioned inability to be noticed. Although it isn't supposed to be a literal supernatural power, it more or less acts like one, rendering Momoko practically invisible to most people. She's often drawn with ghostly tranluscence to represent this. It's worth noting that this only works in person--she can be seen just fine by people watching her on camera, for instance.
Other: nothin' really

SAMPLES
First Person: *Momoko is flopped out on her bed, holding her phone up in one hand with the camera on, a look of mingled worry and confusion on her face--mostly confusion.* So, uh, been kidnapped, I guess. Got some questions about that. Mr. Kidnapper, did you maybe mean to grab someone else? Well, since my name was on those papers, I guess that's a long shot. I'm usually pretty impressed when someone notices me, but not this time. And what's the deal with this new family you're tryin' to give me? I mean, just 'cause my parents sometimes don't realize I'm in the house even when I'm sittin' at the dinner table with them, that doesn't mean I wanted them replaced or anything.

*Her bemused expression darkens into something more gloomy and anxious* I wonder if Senpai and the rest've noticed I'm gone yet . . . I hope I can get outta here before they start to worry. Think I'll try sneakin' out tonight. And if you're really watchin' this, Mr. Kidnapper, don't sweat it--you won't even notice I'm gone.

Third Person: Momoko's face scrunched into a closed-eyed scowl as the morning sun started to beat unusually hard on her eyelids. Try as she might, its brightness was too much to sleep through--it almost felt as though she were outside.

Which, much to her surprise, she was. She blinked, slowly sitting up in the lawn chair she'd been lying in, looking around the unfamiliar yard with a bleary disbelief. To her further confusion, she realized she was dressed in her Tsuruga uniform. Was she dreaming? She dismissed the idea almost as soon as she thought of it--there wasn't enough cuddling with Senpai for this to be one of her dreams. If this was reality, though, that just raised more questions. Had she been sleepwalking? She never had before, but it seemed the most likely explanation. After all, she thought, it's not like anyone would've noticed her doing it--who knew how far she might've wandered in one night?

Not that it really mattered. The important thing was getting back home. Momoko dug her phone out, opening it to call Yumi--if anyone were to notice she was gone and start worrying about it, it would be Yumi. Only when she realized that Yumi's number was gone--along with every other number she recognized, replaced with a long list of ones she didn't--did it start to dawn on her that something weirder than sleepwalking was going on. Someone had brought her here on purpose.

The implications of that were baffling, but Momoko chose not to dwell on them for now. She dialed the first number on the list, planning to go down it one by one. She had her doubts that this would get her anywhere, but . . . it had a better chance of helping than approaching people on the street, right? "Hi! This might sound weird, but I was wonderin' if you could tell me where I am . . ."

History: Here is a link to a wiki page.
Appearance: Neal is a very attractive man. Like … ridiculously so. He’s 5’ 11” with a slim build, dark hair, bright blue eyes and a very nice smile. He usually dresses well, in classic designer suits, with a hat to match on top.

Personality:
Neal Caffrey, at face value, is an exercise in contradictions. He’s a conman with a heart of gold, educated but unmatriculated (and yes that is now a word), impulsive but calculating. So much of what he does may seem selfish and out for himself, but most of the time he does it for other people. He’s done a lot of growth over the course of his two years working with Peter, and at his core, Neal is witty, charming, and cautiously friendly. He knows how to use people and get them to do what he wants, but he’s also capable of being the best of friends, putting you before himself and having your back when your neck is on the line. He’s intelligent enough to try and play the rules, and most of the time does his best to do just that, but he’s got good intentions if nothing else.

At his core, Neal is about people. He understands the nuances of the way society works and the way humans read behavior. His attention to detail is not only what makes him an excellent forger but also an excellent conman, allowing him to blend into any situation by knowing the little details that will make it seem genuine. He’s willing to work hard, to put the effort in to make things perfect, rather than taking the blunt approach. There’s an elegance to his work that stems from his need to get all the details right, and it’s the reason why he can do what he does and minimize the people that get hurt in the process. In fact, a lot of what he does is for people, proving that it’s not just about how he influences them, but also how they influence him.

He starts out wanting to become a cop to live up to the memory of his dead hero of a father, and then runs in the opposite direction when he learns that wasn’t the truth, that he is the son of a dirty cop, and that his mother had lied to him. To an extent, he still has a respect for the law itself, and the spirit of the law, but not so much the letter of it. He sees the law as a line to work around, and the rules more as guidelines, and he tries to be a good person in his own way. While he is a conman who regularly breaks the law, he’s an art thief and in a sense, chose a victimless crime. He stole from people who could afford to lose, he doesn’t aim to physically harm anyone—he doesn’t even like to use a gun. He doesn’t want to hurt people, and in fact, he probably wouldn’t have made the moves as a conman that he did if it wasn’t for two people: Mozzie and Kate Moreau.

Mozzie is Neal’s best friend, and probably the second person that Neal is the most loyal to (the first being Peter). Mozzie and Neal are two people cut from the same cloth, which you wouldn’t really consider when looking at the two of them, but they both have the same kind of intentions. The only difference being that Mozzie is the one who’s usually looking for the big score. He’s the one who truly wants to subvert the law, while Neal enjoys the rush of the con. In the sense, they’re the perfect team, and they work well off each other—Neal is the smile and Mozzie is the brain. In the same vein, however, this also makes Mozzie the devil on his shoulder. He tries to get Neal to return to the life that he wants them to live, tries to sell him on the romance of it, which is one of Neal’s weaknesses. Mozzie is the one person who could sway Neal back to the darkside again, but at the same time respects Neal’s desire for his building a life and finding a family, something they both aspire to.

Aside from being charming as sin, Neal is a romantic, if that wasn’t inherently obvious by his appreciation of poetry and art. He has a thing for grand romantic gestures, and ninety-five percent of the time it’s the thing that gets him into trouble. Ninety-nine percent of the time, those gestures were the result of a woman named Kate Moreau. Kate was Neal’s first love, the woman he couldn’t save and one of the few people he’s willing to do anything for, even escape prison when he has months left on his sentence. Trying to save Kate led to a lot of reckless behavior on Neal’s part, and he made his name as a thief trying to win her back. When it came to protecting her, it could almost be said that Neal had tunnel vision, where she was the only thing that mattered, and since her death, Neal has been trying to figure out who he was outside of her. That was what really allowed him to grow and ground himself as a person. He could realign the center of his world to focus on more than one person, and see that being on the run wasn’t entirely worth it if you were going to be alone. That was really what allowed him to let Peter show him the benefits of settling down and building a life on more than just romance and that’s when Neal really begins to change.

Peter becomes the new cardinal North, so to speak, in Neal’s life. He’s the person that Neal looks to for approval, and one of the few law enforcement officials that Neal actually trusts. He is a father figure to Neal, almost in replacement of the one that Neal lost, and it’s because of that relationship that Neal can still find a way to appreciate the law, even if his real father didn’t respect it. He loves Peter’s love of the law, and his life is the one that Neal wants. He sees how happy Peter is with Elizabeth, and it’s the ideal that he wants his world to become. It has a stability to it that Neal never had with Kate or any of his other relationships. His expectations of people, and the pedestals that he place them on always seem to exceed who they actually are, but Peter is the one person who hasn’t let him down yet, and for that reason, Neal trusts him more than he would anyone else. Peter is truly honest, and while Neal knows that he’ll never be him—the rush of the con is still a large part of his life—it’s something that he can try to balance as best he can to make himself a better person. It won’t stop him from pushing those lines, however. He’s a bit like a child who’s starting to push his boundaries, trying to see how far Peter will let him go, and while Peter is always quick to reign him back in at first, there’s an extent to which he trusts Neal, which is also something Neal has never had, and has no reason to believe he deserves. Peter gives it to him, however, and he wants to continue to have it, so he does the best he can to stay in his good graces.

At the point in which Neal will be arriving in Holly Heights, Neal would have been inches from freedom, only to have it taken away from him. Agent Kramer, who was convinced that Neal would never be anything more than a criminal, planned to take him to DC, away from the family and life that Neal had built for himself, and keep him on his anklet permanently. Neal did everything he could to make sure that didn’t happen. While he didn’t know whether or not his sentence would be commuted, he knew that he would always have a place with Peter, which is what he wanted more than anything else. He had no intention of running, but when Peter gives him the go ahead, he trusts that, and prepares to leave everything he knows behind. It’s not the easiest decision he’s ever made, and while he could stay and tough things out, it would most likely involve going back to prison, and with Peter’s consent he ends up leaving his life behind anyway. It’s not an easy decision to make, but it’s what he needs to do to survive, and in the end, Neal can be counted on to do just that.

Abilites: Neal is a conman and a thief. He knows how to break into just about anything, can con you out of your last dime, and is a pretty proficient forger, if he does say so himself. Which he won’t. Well … he won’t use words.

Other: I apologize in advance for anything he may steal. Or to anyone he may snob at.

First Person: Journal post sample from [community profile] paradisa.

Third Person:
Neal closes his eyes on the plane, and when he opens them, he’s on someone’s front lawn.

It’s disorienting, if nothing else. Going from thirty thousand feet on his way to Cape Verdi, and suddenly finding himself in a neighborhood out of Leave it to Beaver is dizzying, and he doesn’t get up right away because of it. For a moment he thinks that he must be dreaming, but he can’t think for the life of him why he would be dreaming of this. This isn’t something he’s allowed to have anymore.

Not that he ever truly wanted it in the first place. He has always wanted some kind of adventure, legal or not. At first he got that thrill from the con, from working right under the FBI’s nose and having Kate to run with. Then he learned how to do it from within the FBI, while Peter gave him something to hold on to. He’s giving up everything for Neal right now, and where’s Neal?

Neal is sitting in the middle of suburbia.

He pushes up to his feet after a moment, turning slowly in place just to take everything in. There’s no Mozzie, no plane, no sign of anything that even remotely resembled New York. He doesn’t remember being hit on the head, and he doesn’t think he’s dreaming. Right now, he just needs to figure out what’s going on, and how he can move on. Standing still for too long means the FBI coming down on his head, and Peter didn’t just let him go for him to get caught so easily. In fact, it would be embarrassing if it did.

He adjusts his jacket, straightens his tie, and makes his way to the front door of the nearest house. There’s a package attacked to the door with his name on it, and he takes it, but he doesn’t open it right way. He’d rather talk to someone first, if anything. He just hopes that someone will answer the door.

IC INFORMATION

Characters Name: Mikagura Tomoe.

Age: Over 100 years old due to the terraformer, but looks around 16.

Canon: Tailenders.

Canon Point: After being ejected out of Shiro's car, before the epilogue.

Species: Never specified so we'll assume she's a human.

Gender: Female.

History: Since the links that I could gather aren't sufficient/don't delve deep enough, I'll sum it up as best I can.

Terraformers, devices used to make a planet habitable by humans in the same vein as Earth, find themselves operating on the planet Terulus in an attempt to reclaim the environment. However, before the start of the series, one of these terraformers malfunctioned causing large earthquakes known as "stampedes" upon the planet and would cause much of its wildlife to deform into mutant creatures. Due to these dangerous occurrences, large cities operated on gigantic sets of wheels were created to allow the inhabitants of Terulus safety from the inevitable earthquakes. A past time on Terulus, much like baseball on Earth, is a large racing competition where everyone speeds forward in an attempt to defeat the track record of the legendary Loser King, a man that disappeared 100 years ago. One such racer, Shiro Tomoe, ends up horribly injured after crashing during a stampede. A mysterious woman named Mikagura Tomoe infiltrates the hospital and offers Shiro a chance to life and get back on the track by replacing his heart with a special engine, dubbed by Mikagura the Tomoe Drive. However, this disallows Shiro from racing in the normal circuit due to being classified as the car he drives itself.

After informing him of the Planet Redevelopment Race, Shiro and Mikagura head to this insanely dangerous race. Shiro’s goal stays unwavering, aiming to defeat the Loser King’s record while Mikagura’s aim is the terraformer though she has her own hidden agenda past that. As the race commences, Shiro ends up once again on the track with his former racing associate Goodspeed, thought to have died in the same wreck Shiro had been in. It is revealed that Goodspeed had become an android so that he may race again, and the two zoom off into their competition. During the race, Shiro is informed that the car only has one ejector seat, Mikagura’s, and that what was presumed to be the Tomoe Drive was actually just a limiter ripped off by one of the race’s competitors causing the pair to go even faster. As the race continues, it is revealed that the Loser King is still alive and still racing toward the terraformer. It is revealed by Mikagura that the terraformer, due to changing the environment, also changes the flow of time. Goodspeed deduces that the mere minutes they spend racing on the track equates to years, and it explains why Loser King had ‘disappeared’ 100 years ago.

The only reason that Loser King was able to go so fast and, by extension, why Shiro was able to catch up to him was due to the fact that Loser King was the holder of a Tomoe Drive. Mikagura herself reveals that she had once been Loser King’s partner in the past. As Mikagura begins to succumb to the effects of the terraformer, Shiro proclaims that he is going to eject her out to Goodspeed to save her life and that he is going to surpass the Loser King. It is during this moment that Mikagura proclaims that Loser King had abandoned her, and that Shiro was her engine and she didn’t want to lose him. Afraid she was going to lose him to the endless current and overcome by emotion Mikagura kisses Shiro and proclaims that she will catch him one day. It is revealed that 100 years had passed since they had been under the terraformer’s effects, and that Mikagura’s assistant scientist had become a robot. Looking solemnly off at the distance, Mikagura sees a blur goes by and hears Shiro’s voice, showing that both he and Loser King had been able to escape their trap. The OVA’s final shot is of Mikagura’s chest, and it is revealed that she has replaced her own heart with a Tomoe Drive, which will now enable her to catch up with Shiro.

Appearance: A shot shown here from the movie shows Mikagura from the knees up. She is also shown to wear dark blue boots with white stripes up the middle.

Personality: Mikagura is a pushy, intelligent sixteen year old who isn’t above underhanded tactics to get what she wants. Just as every racer in Tailenders does, Mikagura has a need for speed and invented the Tomoe Drive for that very purpose. Mikagura isn’t the kind of girl to wear her heart on her sleeve, instead deciding to keep how she truly feels about a situation under tight lock and key until she has hit the breaking point. It’s implied that Mikagura has abandonment issues, witnessed by her over the top reaction to Shiro attempting to keep her safe which would mean leaving her for an extended period of time. She is also hailed as a genius for her age, and appears to know virtually everything about the planet she resides on. Mikagura is one of the only people who know the true fate of Loser King, and from what’s seen we can imply that he is a touchy subject for her. In fact, Mikagura wouldn’t have had any interest in Shiro whatsoever if his goal hadn’t been to get close to the man Mikagura had been chasing for years. As the movie goes on, Mikagura begins to bond with Shiro and sees the resemblances between him and Loser King.

Mikagura is romantically attracted to Shiro, most likely because he reminds her of a younger Loser King as well as his intent to keep her safe. Mikagura appears to also be the kind of girl that would only help someone if it would also assist her in the long run, meaning that she isn’t exactly the Good Samaritan type. However if something is able to ping her curiosity, as a scientist she may reconsider her position. Having invented a special motor for a car and appearing to be knowledgeable enough in its application means that Mikagura is also an expert mechanic, able to reach the intelligence of a pit crew all rolled up into one individual. The fact the car Shiro drives has an onboard keyboard that we see Mikagura operate the car using can also imply that she is well versed in electronics. Going at the speeds the Tomoe Drive unlimited can reach, coupled with racing through lava and the threat of the "stampedes" without even so much as a bat of the eyelash shows just how fearless Mikagura can be, with abandonment being the only fear that she seems to have. In conclusion, apart from everything mentioned above, Mikagura is your above average sixteen year old tomboy with a penchant for going fast and turning dying men into living vehicles.

Abilites: The only abilities Mikagura has are being a genius scientist and mechanic, which includes being able to invent an engine known as the Tomoe Drive that takes place of a person's heart and is able to reach speeds high enough to set something on fire.

SAMPLES

First Person: Hey, fellow captives. Those cars that are parked in our driveways, you know the ones we've given? I've already finished modifying mine with a prototype of my new Tomoe Drive. You can pretty much ignore the speedometer at this point. This thing going 80 MPH is just a warm up. If you guys want yours modified, just come find me. I'll be around. Don't think you're getting it for free though. Once we get some of these set up, maybe we can schedule a few races. Nothing like back home on Terulus but pretty close.

Third Person: The rush of wind from the open window flew through Mikagura’s hair, and she could feel her own heart beat pumping faster against her chest by the second. Every time her foot went back down to slam against the gas, memories of a red-haired driver plagued her. Once the car she was behind skidded to a complete stop, her eyes stared intently at the steering wheel. She was in a new community, had made new friends… so why was it so hard to forget Shiro? They weren’t just miles apart anymore, they were dimensions apart. It should have been easy for her to toss him into the pit of her heart… but it had been the same with Loser King. She had grown attached and lost him, and now Shiro was added to that list. All the tears that she could have cried had dried up on the way home in Goodspeed’s car. "Damn it, Shiro…" A gentle whisper that flew between the teen’s lips. She could still feel it too, the touch of his lips upon hers. Fingers found their way to brush along them, and those final words she had left with Shiro pushed their way to the center stage of her brain.

"I’ll catch you as many times as it takes."

Was she going to go back on her word just because the distance between them had multiplied. Mikagura Tomoe was many things, but like hell she was a liar. The vehicle was brought into her associated home’s driveway and she pushed it into park before twisting the key in the ignition. The goggles that had been placed down over her eyes were now lifted to set upon the middle of her head, and her trademark smirk spread her lips apart. The car door wasn’t pushed open, it was kicked open, and out popped Mikagura. Her home was given a look up and down, and she spoke out loud more to herself than anyone else. "Just you wait, Shiro. You’re still my engine, and you won’t get out of it so easily." If the man had actually been here, he might have smirked and offered some form of witty reply back to her. Relaxation was what was in Mikagura’s future, so after taking one last look at the vehicle behind her, the teenager bounded toward the entrance of her home.

Re: Asbel Lhant | Tales of Graces | Reserved

[personal profile] preserves 2012-09-04 02:01 am (UTC)(link)
Personality:
On the surface, Asbel seems at first to fit the stereotypical role of an upright protagonist; one who is chivalrous and strong, yet is humble enough to give his time and protect those around him. So while all of these treats will match up, there lies a more deeper personality than what on the inside.

As a child, Asbel grew up in a wealthy and upright family as the successor to the Lord of Lhant. This caused the boy to become rebellious to his father and lead to leaving or doing things without permission simply because he opposed the plans for his future. Instead of becoming the heir to Lhant, he instead insisted on becoming a knight. That way he would be able to protect his friends and those he cared about. Though noble reasoning, it didn't stop him from acting against those trying to protect him from the constant disobeying. Because of this he involved both his younger brother Hubert and Cheria into all of his mischief (often times even sneaking out his room) leaving a sense of "my way or no way" mentally. He wasn't the type to listen, and often huffed of complained about unsatisfactory situations- most of which were not for his benefit. It was not until he came in contact with Sophie that his personality slowly began to morph into a different direction. With Sophie now accompany them as a new friend, his dedication to protect those he loved only became stronger, and in the end chose the path of a knight while giving up his rights to Lhant.

From there Asbel was able to train under Malik and brought up in the ways of chivalry. Asbel then became a much calmer person; not as quick to lash out at someone for a foul comment or confrontation. It also came along with a new set of manners by addressing people properly or thanking excessively. The boy is far more soft spoken then his former self, enabling him to get his point across without making too much of a fuss. He also is quicker to become embarrassed, often seen flushed about uncomfortable situations and upon being complimented. However some of his old antics still remain. For once the boy makes up his mind, there is little anyone can do to stop that. He is stubborn in his ideals and remains committed with a certain task at hand. He's not afraid to voice his opinion or step in when the time is right. If he feels that something must be done a certain way, than you can be sure that is the path he will most likely take, yet not without the counsel of his friends first (yet even then he will most likely do this own thing... hence being stubborn).

Asbel truly admires his friends and often times claims that he could do nothing without them. He treasures those he is close to, and offers his help and support to them and even someone in passing. Yet because of the people he stays with, he is able to grow stronger on a more personal level, and allows their influence to mold himself into a better person.

Though through all his knightly-like composure and good manners, this male is still quite childish. His actions lean more towards the carefree style of life, and often times can be seen trying to coordinate various victory poses for his teammates. Asbel is also one to trust very easily; taking someone's word rather than sneaking around to try to find their true motive. He is certainly not one to judge, and finds the genuine side of people rather than their faults. Not only that, but his overall thought process when it comes to protecting those around him. Malik himself claims that his ideals are too out of reach considering Asbel would like to "save everyone". Yet it is because of those ideals that makes his desire for protecting those around him grow even more.

Speaking of protecting people, that's the name of this game when it comes to this protagonist. All throughout his life he has wished to protect others, and he be sure to let those around him know just that. He pushes himself to become strong for others, and truly believes that by doing this he will help everyone he comes in contact with. Even in the case where Sophie's real identity had been discovered and her true purpose revealed, Asbel still continued to want to protect her despite Sophie claiming she had to kill herself in order to get rid of Lambda. Asbel refused to accept this proposal and instead searched for another way to protect Sophie in order to let her live. Yet his need to protect others can sometimes cloud his emotions and thoughts from anything else. Usually rash decisions are made and doesn't think about the actions he takes before he does them.

Asbel is, in every sense of the word, oblivious. Not only in his relationship to Cheria whom, many times through the game, tries to showcase her love toward the male... only to be brushes aside, but sometimes even the understanding of serious situations. Asbel may not catch on as quickly as the rest of his teammates to something going on, or even a motive for another person's doing. He's not an analyzer and therefore will leave it up to his brother to figure it out or stutters while trying to answer a difficult question. Yet aside from his natural flaws, Asbel still upholds the faith to trust that his brother will make the right decision just as he did in the past. He even admits he is not a smart as Hubert, yet is willing to work through his obvious flaws to make a medium between the two. Such as using his brute over smarts.

Like most men, as stereotypical as this may sound, have a hard time expressing what exactly they feel. This is no excuse when it come to Asbel himself. During times of great sadness of something that upsets him, he will usually hide his emotions and replace it with rage. He tends to be loud when upset, and even lashes out on occasions if such boundaries are overstepped. At one point Cheria even recognizes the boy's anger and informs Sophie, whom Asbel was currently upset over at that time, stating, "Men are... bad at feelings. Sometimes getting angry is all they really know." Yet these feelings are usually sort lived and Asbel is able to understand his rash feelings and apologize.

Although those hard male emotions can get in the way, Asbel is actually very sympathetic. Towards the end of the game where the antagonize is established, the male instantly assumes that Lambda is just some big 'ol bad guy trying to destroy their world. Yet after peeking into his past and seeing the hardships Lambda had to face, he becomes sorry for him. Even in that situation with Richard stealing the eleth from their world, Asbel still saw the man as a friend and tried to save him despite all the harm he had caused to him and his friends. Asbel and able to forgive both of them despite their prior doings and have a heart to even the worst of kinds.

Overall Asbel is a kind, compassionate boy with a heard of gold. He tries, pushes himself too hard, yet in the end perseveres in his ideals and faithfulness for humanity.

Abilites:
Asbel has the ability of Artes which are skills throughout the Tales universe that enables someone to use certain hidden and strong techniques during battle. For basic artes Asbel has the sheathed blade artes which usually consist of kicking or even using his sheath as a weapon in battle, and drawn blade burst for when it is unsheathed. Mystic Artes are also another form, but in a much stronger sense which deals powerful blows from his sword that basis skills could not be obtained before.

Physically with the help of these artes Asbel is a quick fighter; using his sword with quick and agile movements to defeat an enemy. This compensates for his lack of book smarts with brute strength, and is able to use this to his advantage instead of something that requires a lot of prior knowledge.

Yet aside from the physical, Asbel as the ability of his words to persuade or get his point across. He may not be very talented when it comes to the domestic side of life, but while learning to be a knight some form of independent training may have been established. However, none of that is to say for certain. There is only derp.

Other:
Asbel has two different eyes which doesn't appear until the end of the Main Arc- one violet and the other blue. This is because when trying to protect his friend Sophie from sacrificing herself in order to defeat Lambda, the boy allowed Lambda to "look through his eyes" as the enemy sleeps dormant within him. Because Lambda has no proper form and can possess those he comes in contact with (usually those with a low will), Asbel let himself become the vessel while promising to always keep his guard up from Lambda as to not have him be fully taken over and in turn help destroy his world. Spiffy, huh?
He also likes curry!

First Person: Here.

Third Person:
Well... this was certainly something new.

Aside from arriving in this world, claiming a new responsibility and being stripped from his friends, Asbel was surprisingly taking things well. That was, until a greater foe would come to match his intelligence of the unknown and force the male into a situation he was uncertain whether he could overcome— driving a car.

The male has examined it on all sides; poking and prodding the wheels and even tapping against the glass to peek inside. It didn't look dangerous, and from his deduction concluded that it was indeed for transportation. How it worked however... well, that was a different story.

"If only Pascal or Hubert were here. They'd know what to do about this..." His tone was drained, quickly passing a hand through this hair as he stood, perplexed near the driver's side. He couldn't recall anything like this where he had come from. Wagons, perhaps. Those had wheels certainly, but this was way too high-tech. Maybe it was made by the Americans? This did seem to be up their alley with how difficult and complex it seemed to be. Yet without the help of his friends to answer any of his rising questions, the boy was forced to push mattered into his own hands. "This is suppose to be for me, right?"

Asbel had already attempted to open the door by pulling on the suppose lever sticking out from the vehicle. Yet, much to his dismay, the car still refused to open. Maybe there was... a different way? So with that thought he began his own private investigation by tracing it back to his arrival. The car has a lock on it, right? And locks need keys to open them!

Yet upon using those keys to finally attempt to unlock the door, a strange noise began to erupt from inside— lights flashing and blinking rapidly in front of it. What... what was going on? The noise forced the male to sputter back, staring wide eyed at the mess he had caused. He wasn't going to get in trouble with the neighbors, was he?

"A-an alarm!? Hey, no one told me about that!" Maybe... he should just walk from now on.

The manga never once touches on the reasons why he looks the way he does as though it isn't unusual at all for him to have razor sharp teeth and his pointed, elf-like ears. Hiruma's hair is bleached blond - previously black- and he has bright green eyes to further distinguish him from his Japanese heritage. He has peachy skin and a very tall, lithe build; though he is strong, it is clear he was not made for strength, however he is extremely athletic. His figure is meant to bolster his agility, evasiveness and quick reflexes. His clothing ranges from an American football uniform to the flashiest of suits to a school-supplied get-up. It's won't difficult for him to find comfort in new clothes, especially the ones that will be provided to him.

Personality: Hiruma's personality on the whole is rather bizarre and he demonstrates this in almost every situation, intimidating others with his eccentricities and his belligerent attitude. He chooses to approach his circumstances in a unique fashion; from the way he copes with stress to how he teaches people lessons, he is shown to be an amoral, vulgar character – an “anti-hero” in the eyes of the Eyeshield 21 cast. The Deimon quarterback is disreputable for being a foul-mouthed cretin whose violent behaviour scares the wits out of everyone he meets. He calls everyone by a specific nickname which starts with “fucking” and ends in the most descriptive feature of a person. “Fucking monkey” and “fucking fishlips” are two among many – anyone who disagrees with the derogatory name is subject to the wrath of his weaponry. He carries guns around everywhere and he always, always has one on him at any given moment. Hiruma even went as far as to build a weapon's silo underneath their team's clubhouse.

Being the excitable person that he is, when he's faced with exciting situations he tends to go all out to the point of ludicrousness. He celebrates things like well-executed plays by his team, touch-downs and winning games with flashy reactions including setting off fireworks, confetti, spraying fire hoses at large crowds and shooting dangerous weaponry into the air (a very common reaction, whether something happens as planned or not). He's prone to manic cackling during these activities when he's particularly pleased or is plotting something sinister... not to mention at the misfortune of people around him. He is rather easily entertained by such things as idiocy, overconfidence and failures and extremely quick to anger – say something uncultured about American football, mess with him personally or doing something inexplicably stupid. His short fuse is seen frequently, though one case is when Monta – the team's wide receiver – almost got disqualified for fighting with a referee. Hiruma ran after him screeching and firing bullets at him.

He holds no special regard for authority, his superiors, those he trains or any of the general populace. This is clear from the way he is constantly exploiting peoples' weaknesses through blackmail – where his infamous “Book of Threats” or the “Devil's Handbook” comes into play, a notebook supposedly filled with dirt on everyone he meets. He has managed to get funding for the American football club from the principal of Deimon High with relative ease as he threatened to tell the man's wife about an affair he was having. The extent of his manipulation is so notorious that his name is even known in the United States and when they travel there for training, they have no trouble getting into restricted places like casinos because of Hiruma and his extremely wide net of dirty information.

Known as one of the “brainy three” on his team, Hiruma is as intelligent as he is cunning. He makes up inventive ways of communicating to his teammates without the use of words to confuse their opponents, can see through enemy football teams' plays with ease and has an exceptional photographic memory. He can memorize an entire multi-paged booklet of unique sign-language cues the club manager, Mamori, created... in a matter of seconds. In Las Vegas at the end of the team's Death March across America, Hiruma won ¥20 000 000 (around $255 232) playing Black Jack by “counting cards”, basically keeping a running tally of all high and low valued cards seen by the player, an extremely difficult mathematical, memorization approach to the card game.

Hiruma hates the idea of showing his feelings to others. Having feelings would ruin his image, the carefully sculpted demon persona almost everyone but his teammates see when they look at him, would ruin the frightening factor, the element of surprise. He is verbally extroverted, but mentally introverted; he goes home alone, he sits alone on more than a few occasions (like on the Devil's Bats Death March across America) and shrugs worrywarts off. This is clear when members of his team – Musashi and Mamori – point out his struggles. He belittles the things they have to say, tells them it's all in their heads, replies sardonically in order to deflect the conversation away from himself...

He is goal-oriented – one of the main reasons why he acts the way he does. He says that “In American Football, you'll win if you scare the opponent outta their wits! You gotta become a badass in order to deal with the enemy!” Hiruma believes a lot of the game is about psyche-outs, tricks to confuse his opponents, taunts and intimidation. The writer of Eyeshield 21, Inagaki, stated that he intended to make a character “only concerned with winning” and who will do “whatever it takes to win”. He is unfalteringly stubborn, refusing at times to rest when he sees a goal is in sight – even when he received a broken arm in a later chapter, he asked Mamori to hide it with bindings so he could support is teammates. He's rarely ever seen slacking off or doing something that isn't for the benefit of the Devil Bats; his incessant hard-work is an important staple in the development of the Devil Bats, he even helps Musashi – a former construction worker who rejoins the team as their kicker – renovate and build parts of the football clubhouse.

He's selfish and exploits people to get whatever he wants whenever he wants, but at the same time selfless. He puts his team and their physical needs first – he is shown on the Death March to have neglected the health of his own legs while running in order to train the team's rookie players. It's clear that while Hiruma actively pretends not to harbour a conscience of any kind, on occasion he is sympathetic and even shows compassion to his fellow Devil Bat teammates. When someone tries their hardest and gives the absolute maximum they can possibly manage, he reaches out to help the underdog to bring their hopes up. When he made potential recruits for the American football team grab bags of ice, forcing them to climb the Tokyo tower before all of the ice had melted, Hiruma is seen assisting Yukimitsu – a cram school student with no talent at sports – at the last second by dropping an ice cube into Yukimitsu's bag, declaring that there was still one unmelted cube left.

And finally, more than anything, Hiruma is inspirational. He may be loud, crude and mischievous on and off the field, but when a chance to teach his team valuable lessons appears, he seizes each and every one of those chances. He is a walking, talking pep-rally for his friends, encourages his players to give their all whatever the circumstance and has a surprising amount of charisma that enables him to receive the hope and faith of his team, in some cases just by shouting “There's no fucking trashes that would think like that in the Deimon Devil Bats, right?!”
