IC INFORMATION
Character's Name: Phoenix Wright
Age: 25
Canon: Ace Attorney
Canon Point: Right after the third installment in the series.
Species: Human
Gender: Male
Orientation: Bisexual with a slight leaning toward women.  In canon, he has potential, arguable feelings for several people in his life--at the least, he is very platonically devoted to them (including both Maya and Edgeworth), without regard to gender.  I chose the marginal preference for women based on his college relationship with Dahlia Hawthorne.

History: Here!
Appearance: Here!
Personality:
Phoenix is many things, but first and foremost, he is a lawyer. Determined and resilient, he doesn't let much get in the way of doing his job the way he sees fit. He stands strong by the claim that he wins his cases because he knows his clients are innocent; he knows they're innocent, in turn, by believing what they say. In this way, then, Phoenix's faith in human nature is a strong point of his character--though it's also a bit of a downfall, as he tends to trust first and ask questions later. Still, he likes to think he can tell whether or not a person is truly good by just talking with said person a little while.

Although he thinks of himself as a good lawyer and a loyal friend, Phoenix realizes that he isn't invincible in any sense of the word. He knows when he's been beaten (or thinks he has), and when he gets desperate, he gets very desperate. He can crash and burn into a fit of despair quickly, but he always seems to bounce back to his usual, somewhat goofy self with the help of his friends.

Where those friends are concerned, Phoenix has a tendency to be incredibly reckless. He's been known to pull such crazy stunts as running across a burning bridge in an attempt to help a friend (in that particular situation, Maya Fey). In the same vein, however, he's also blessed with a sort of weird luck that keeps him from being hurt or even killed in the face of potentially life-threatening ordeals. Running across the burning bridge, for instance, resulted in his plummeting forty feet into a rushing river, only to come out with nothing more than a cold and a high fever for a day after the fact. In other instances, he's been attacked with a taser, swallowed a necklace, been clocked over the head with a fire extinguisher, and has managed to come out relatively unscathed from each of these events.

Although Phoenix tends to keep company with spirit mediums and other highly quirky people, he is still easily fazed by fairly everyday occurrences. He tends to be over-emotional at times, and panics equally when things get difficult in his job and when he's asked to front the payment for a dinner out at a restaurant, too. Sometimes he wonders if he lets people push him around too much--talking him out of his money and even convincing him to represent them pro bono in court--but he supposes it's worth it in the end to the see smiling, happy faces of his friends and acquaintances. So he plays the role of the slightly downtrodden underdog with as much grace as he can muster, and he cleans toilets and fumbles through tight situations, rides his bike in the rain and then somehow manages to pull together all the loose strings of his life and his vague evidence, and saves the day in court on a regular basis. Despite all of this, though, none of it seems to go to his head, and he thinks rather meekly of himself most of the time.

Abilities: Phoenix is very capable in court, and can talk his way out of messy situations with a sort of bumbling luck that comes across as finesse.
Other: I did apply (and got accepted) as Phoenix here some months ago. Unfortunately real life got crazy around that same time, and I never played actively. Things in my life are much more under control now, and I have every intention of being super active this time around!

Third Person:
It was the Fourth of July, and Phoenix was in his element.

Standing a safe distance from the surrounding building and any trees, he had positioned various fireworks--Roman candles, "flower bouquets," sparklers, smoke bombs and the like--safely in the ground before lighting them and ducking for cover. After each one, he laughed merrily and hurried off to set fire to another, and another, lighting up the early evening sky with brilliant color all the while. Fireworks were deeply important to him--some sort of callback to childhood and precious memories he did not want to ever lose--and he was enjoying every moment of this year's self-created display.

When an audience began to gather (probably spurred into watching by the man with ridiculous hair, giggling like a child as he set things on fire), it only further encouraged his half-crazy behavior.

"Happy Fourth of July!" he called to the crowd of mostly strangers, waving both arms high over his head. "Wanna help me celebrate?"

Whether or not they agreed, he was already back to work. He would continue for hours with his "calling" to shoot off the firecrackers, and would only lose a few eyebrow hairs in the process.
