[Satoshi isn't the type to show his face around all the time or bother with lengthy introductions, so a quick message will do the job well enough.] I would like to start keeping a personal tally of any crimes anyone has seen here, small or large scale. Additionally, I'm looking for people who have had juror experience in the courts here. It doesn't matter if it's anything from a lost cat or elaborate theft - I just want to make sure residents' stories match the city's documents. Any story or experience will help. It seems crime in general is fairly rare here.

[There's a pause, as though there's something else on his mind, but the silence doesn't last long.] Call back on this number if you have anything to say. Thank you. [The message stops there.]

Third Person: The first thing Satoshi noticed was how light he felt as he stood in the middle of what appeared to be a town square.

Which was a strange thing to observe indeed, considering that he was clearly in some place that he'd never seen before. The surrounding housing and layout were definitely different as he ran a mental checklist of the possible places he could be: simple, grid-designed, and modern, which pointed to classic mid-west America if nothing else, though how he ended up all the way across the Pacific was entirely another matter. Most people would assume a potential kidnapping plot or even some alien invasion, but there were more bizarre possibilities in Satoshi's life that made more sense than kidnapping or space invaders.

He frowned as the thought of his father came up first. The man was getting his hands in far too many places and was undoubtedly displeased with Satoshi's speech about leaving his family's artwork alone. It was a wonder Argentine was still intact enough after having stone towers collapse on top of him. His father knew they would be there, and he knew how to set up explosives in advance, and worse of all, he knew Satoshi would work with his family's worst enemy. It would make sense for his father to knock him out and stuff him on the next plane abroad, leaving him with full, unsupervised access to Hikari art.

A second possibility was that some painting swallowed him up and he was locked in its world (a weird thing to say, but it had happened to people plenty of times before), but he'd been nowhere near any hungry paintings for the past two weeks - unless his father had snuck into his apartment and shoved one over his face; then, well, that was also likely.

Dark came up as a third possible culprit, as he was always guilty or up to something ridiculous, though Satoshi believed that Niwa Daisuke would never allow it.

And Niwa...

Satoshi had been thinking about him quite a lot lately. There was no doubt his ancestors were rolling in their graves at the idea of them being friends, but that wasn't Satoshi's problem. He didn't have to be a creator of monsters like them, and hopefully his future death would be the end of the line for his family, along with the death of...

Satoshi immediately froze.

A light breeze blew around the bulletin board and whipped at his clothes as he stood in front of it, unable to focus on any of the papers pinned there. He felt light. It was easier to stand up straight. He almost felt empty.

He gasped suddenly and clutched his shirt over his heart. Surely it was too good to be true. The beast inside him was surely still there, simply taunting him by hanging in the furthest reaches of his mind. There was no way...

Satoshi forced himself to breathe evenly and began to concentrate. No matter how hard he tried, he felt nothing. It was though his body was truly his own, and not some monster's vessel to throw around.

He wouldn't get his hopes up just yet.

With a swallow, Satoshi released his shirt and returned to the bulletin board. He needed to know his location first, then his supposed new house. He wasn't sure if he really was given some new place to stay, but there was no harm in checking it out first. There was no such thing as too much information to gather, especially considering all the possible circumstances of how he got here.

Tomorrow's town hall meeting seemed to be a good enough start. Time and location memorized, Satoshi began his trek to his assigned housing. He'd rest up, do the meeting, hit the library for a bit more city information, then catch the next transportation out of here and ensure this never happened again. There were too many things he had to do, and with so little time left to do them.

As he crossed the neighborhood streets, his mind wandered back to Niwa. If nothing else, being stranded here at least meant that Niwa couldn't be hurt by him.

Revision - personality

[personal profile] arcticartist 2013-07-07 04:06 am (UTC)(link)
Personality: Cold, aloof, and usually uninterested in anything that doesn't have to do with Dark, Satoshi is not the easiest person to chat to and he tends to stay quiet until he needs to speak. He prefers to immediately talk business and get it over with, though people who are more insistent and prod him into conversation can eventually warm him up a bit. The distance isn't something he necessarily asked for, but as a result of carrying Krad in his body - Krad is obsessed with Satoshi to the point of wanting to ruin anyone who gets close to him, so the distance is more out of fear and protection to others than disinterest.

Satoshi doesn't want to hurt anyone and can get emotional if his actions cause someone suffering. Even if that should happen, he recomposes himself quickly and gets back to business again - mainly to solve the consequences of his actions as efficiently as possible, then he often hides away for a short while. Krad often makes a mess of things and Satoshi feels obligated to clean up afterwards every time. His life is hectic enough, so he prefers efficiency to avoid wasted time and potential consequences. Satoshi gets a little more harsh when someone wants to discuss more personal matters, such as his family or himself. He doesn't want to get anyone involved with his family matters and avoids discussing it when he can, as people who do get involved with his family often suffer as a result. Even when injured or after passing out from fatigue, Satoshi will insist he's perfectly fine and will try to leave the area to recover alone.

Currently, however, things are a little different. Satoshi is now slightly less afraid of getting close to people, as Daisuke has sworn that their family rivalry won't destroy everything they hold dear and that they can still live independently with independent aspirations. Having a friend nearby to support him helps Satoshi keep his mental and physical states in check, and also helps him retake his body if Krad has control. It's a friendly reminder to him that the world will still be okay despite his family's legacy. He is unlikely to strike a conversation out of the blue unless he needs something, but despite how to-the-point he is, he's not mean, and those who are stubborn enough into kindling a friendship (Daisuke) will eventually win him over. He simply never had a chance to grow up as most kids would, making it hard for him to connect to his peers, though making friends with others at his age isn't a major concern to him.
