IC INFORMATION
Characters Name: Shion Uzuki
Age: 23
Canon: Xenosaga
Canon Point: Start of the third game
Species: Human
Gender: Female
Orientation: Straight. She's pretty hung up on her dead fiance, who was male. And in the end, she gets shacked up with the dude who pined over her for three games, so it's pretty safe to say she's into guys. THOUGH, there are some pretty heavy f/f undertones in her relationship with her android, KOS-MOS, so... I'm okay with either sex for a spouse tbh!

History: One of the most involved histories ever, sorry!
Appearance: worst shoes
Personality: When we first meet Shion, she is a stubborn and headstrong girl. She's endured a lot of pain and loss in her past, but she hides her sorrow with an enduringly cheerful attitude. She's very polite to people she first meets, and she is very energetic and outgoing. She tends to keep most people at arm's length (such as coworkers or people she meets under normal circumstances), so they don't really see anything past the bright and happy scientist. In reality though, Shion's cheerful disposition is a front, a mask she uses to hide her pain and loneliness.

Shion has a difficult time truly connecting with others. She has faced the loss of many loved ones in her past, and it has seriously damaged her ability to get close to others. Also because of these losses, Shion's life was overwhelmed with the fear of death at one point. After the death of her fiance, Kevin, her outlook was bleak, and it seemed that life was just an uncertain waiting period before death. The only thing that managed to distract Shion from this state was her work.

After Kevin's death, work became the most important thing in Shion's life. It was the one thing she could completely throw herself into without the fear of being abandoned. She also felt that the KOS-MOS project, which is WHAT she was working on, connected her to Kevin, as he had created it. Shion is often delighted by KOS-MOS's progress, and seems to care more about the project than she does about her own safety. She feels the project is the only thing left that ties her to Kevin, since he created it. So it's the most valuable thing in the world to her. Since she has uncovered some of the crimes that may have been committed by those who have created the technology that has made their way of life possible, Shion has found a new sense of purpose. Investigating the UMN and Vector industries, which she has thrown herself into just as fully as she had with the KOS-MOS project.

Shion can be considered something of a technology genius. Shion was asked to join Vector because of a paper she had written, before she had completed much (or any, maybe) college education. And though KOS-MOS's initial designs were completed when she joined the project, Shion had a huge part in developing KOS-MOS's OS, and upkeeping the android. She also has some background in Realian (synthetic humans) psychology and had hoped to be a therapist, helping Realians adjust to life among normal humans. Despite her scientific knowledge, she can be terribly naive at times, and can even seem to totally lack common sense. Her actions are often driven by her emotions. When she becomes distraught or angry, her stubbornness is almost impossible to abate, and she often makes decisions or takes actions without any regard to her personal safety or as to what the outcome might be.

She can also be extremely oblivious to her surroundings at times. This is best illustrated with her relationship with Allen Ridgeley. Allen has been Shion's coworker for years, and he has always harbored a pretty intense crush on her. His advances are sometimes the victim of circumstance (his declarations of love being down out by the sound of cargo doors opening, etc.), but at times, his affection is displayed right in front of Shion, and she doesn't acknowledge it at all. It's never completely clear whether she is intentionally ignoring it, or if she is really so naive that she doesn't understand that he has feelings for her. Most of the time, it seems to be a strange combination of both. She is STILL mourning Kevin, years after his death, and she doesn't have romance on her mind because of that. It seems like the idea that someone might fall for her is completely foreign to her now. Shion only sees Allen as someone else to bitch at a coworker and friend anyway.

There's also the aspect of Shion's strained family life. As a child, Shion admired her brother greatly. She especially looked up to him when he entered the military. But when her parents were in danger, she really thought Jin would rescue them. He did manage to rescue Shion, but not their parents. Because he didn't get there in time for her mom and dad, her feelings toward him kind of changed. She still remembers that respect she held for him as a child, but in a way she blames him for the deaths of their parents. While she blocked out her memories of that incident, she still holds a lingering resentment and fear of abandonment. That is why one of Shion's greatest fears is that her loved ones will die or leave her.

Abilities: Shion's weapon, the MWS (multi-weapons system), amplifies Shion's strength and speed. Whenever she fights using her weapon, she can hit much harder than normal. It also has a few other functions, like it can electrocute others or produce a blade made of energy. She has a few special attacks relating directly to using her weapon:

Break Bash - Single: heavy break (break being a gauge that, when filled, renders the enemy unable to attack for a few turns and lowers their defense greatly) attack + higher critical to human enemies.
Lunar Blade I - Single (short range): medium physical attack.
Lock Shot - All: medium beam ether attack + seal boost.

Otherwise, like many Xenosaga characters, Shion can use Ethers which are Xenosaga's equivalent or typical RPG magic spells. These are actually the product of nanomachines inside the person's body. Shion's ethers are as follows:

Analyze - Analyze an enemy's data.
Medica S - Recover small amount of HP.
Medica S All - Recover small amount of HP for all allies.
Fire Bolt I - Small fire attack.
Beam Bolt I - Small beam attack.
Ice Bolt I - Small ice attack.
Satellite I - Small beam attack to all enemies.

Things that probably wouldn't be affected by the humanizing of arriving at Holly Heights:

Cooking: Shion really enjoys cooking, especially curry, which she always makes sweet. She's rather good at it, as she worked as a waitress and cook at a cafe while attending high school.
Martial arts: Shion was trained, from a young age, in martial arts by her grandfather, and later by her brother. She's proficient with swords, and hand to hand combat. Her kicks are supposed to be amazingly strong.
Science and Engineering!: Her lack of common sense might seem to indicate otherwise, but Shion is actually very intelligent. She has a pretty intimate knowledge of KOS-MOS's inner workings, outside of her black boxes, of course. She's considered very skilled by many in her fields.
Being durable: Shion has survived countless gnosis attacks that would have killed an average person, an FAE (fuel-air explosion) that killed everyone around her who wasn't inside a mecha unit, and many other things. She's pretty hard to kill!

Other: SO, back in Shion's universe, there's sort of a god that lives in a higher layer of reality, and the god is called U-DO. Being a descendant of the immigrant fleet, the first people to flee earth back in the day, Shion has the ability to connect and communicate with U-DO. She usually passes out when she communicates with it, and it's a huge strain on her health.

U-DO is also... a battery of sorts for their universe? Things like their ESes (giant mechs) and KOS-MOS draw their energy FROM U-DO. SO if a character like KOS-MOS (or Abel, since he is U-DO's physical lower domain form) ever applied at Holly Heights, either U-DO would have to exist there, in the number domain of Holly Heights OR KOS-MOS would never be able to regain her android form, OR there would have to be an alternate means of powering them.

lmao SORRY XENOSAGA IS THE MOST COMPLICATED UNIVERSE EVER but I guess what I am asking is would it be possible for U-DO to exist there?? Honestly, if he DID exist there, it wouldn't change much? U-DO is simply a being which observes and powers the lower domain. It doesn't get involved past asking inane questions when Shion connects with it. SO YEAH. :'D

First Person: here!

Third Person:

"I don't get it."

Shion sat at her kitchen table, looking a little frustrated. In front of her, the cellphone she had received on the first day was in pieces. It had been meticulously disassembled, and each piece was laid out, carefully organized on a towel. She picked up the small motherboard again and turned it over in her hands, frowning at the simple circuitry.

"It's primitive technology... The technology used to gather people from so many different universes had to have been more advanced than this. Unless, of course, we were just given the bare minimum to keep ourselves occupied with. Either way, there's not much I can do with this."

There was a note of disappointment in her voice. She wasn't even sure what she had expected or hoped to find inside the cellphone. Answers? Something she could use to try to find the UMN? There were so many puzzling things about Holly Heights but the lack of the UMN was what plagued her the most. The network was supposed to reach everywhere! Into every corner of the entire universe. So how could they be outside of its range? Where were they?

She began to put her phone back together quietly. The process was a lot faster than she thought it would be, and once again, she was left with little to distract her from all of her perpetually unanswered questions.

Housing Request?: Random! Also, outside of her home at 1454, Kagura frequents 1428 most of the time, so if I could avoid that house too, then great.
Did you read the rules and FAQ?: yep
Would you like your application to be unscreened?: sure
