IC INFORMATION Character's Name: Nanako Dojima Age: 6 Canon: Persona 4 Canon Point: The end of the game (the true end) Species: Human Gender: Female Orientation: N/A
Due to her mother's death, Nanako is responsible for her and her father's chores, who both live in the rural town of Inaba. Despite her young age, she juggles the household tasks with no trouble while her father sparsely comes home from work. When the protagonist stays with the two for a year, he helps her face her loneliness and abandonment her father caused her and joins them together as a family again.
Later on in the story, Taro Namatame throws her into the TV world, which causes her to fall into a coma. She then dies on December 3rd, but miraculously recovers a day later. The following spring, she sees the protagonist off when he leaves Inaba to return home, remarking that she will someday marry him. Appearance:Here! Personality: Nanako is very mature for her age and has never complained about the work that gets dumped onto her. She is independent and can cook, clean, and do laundry at the young age of six in her late mother's place.
However, her timidness towards strangers is noticeable. She seems to be instantly flustered when others mention how young or cute she is, further proving her shy nature. This, along with her innocent behavior (singing along to the Junes commercial, telling Dojima (her father) not to fight with Souji, calling Souji "big brother," ect.) and being easily pleased/impressed, an example being when her father bought her a t-shirt with a platypus on it from Junes shows that there is a childish side to the grown-up Nanako.
She does not seem to have any friends from school or anywhere else until the protagonist begins to get closer with her. Her father is always caught up with work, and never goes through with his promises to her. This includes a vacation he said he would bring her on, yet she ended up spending it with Souji at the Junes shopping district because he never came home from work that day.
As such, she is lonely and feels unwanted by her father, which is revealed when she asks him if he is going to forget about her, just like he "forgot" about her mother once she died.
❝There aren't any pictures of her [Nanako's mom] at home. He [Nanako's dad] probably threw them all away... Is he going to throw me away too...?❞
The television is her prime source of entertainment and is also how she spends her leisure time; she is often absorbed in simple quiz shows and the Junes commercial.
She has always wanted to go to Samegawa River, a place her and her family went every year before her mother passed away, but her father was always too caught up with work to take her.
When all of this bottled up rejection inside of Nanako from her father finally hits her, she runs away from home to Samegawa River, where Souji comforts her and helps her realize that Dojima does love her. Abilities: N/A Other: N/A
SAMPLES First Person: [ She has some experience with technology (really, just the TV), but Nanako has never worked with a video camera before. She's not really sure what to say, anyways, but she'll give it a try regardless. ]
H-Hi, I'm Nanako! [ She bites her lip, looking around. She's a little confused. Alright, maybe a lot confused. ]
This place doesn't look like Inaba anymore, or even inside the TV. And daddy's not here, neither is big bro. And this isn't my house, either... [ A gesture towards the house she's standing in front of. ]
And worst of all-- [ Her voice becomes noticeably sullen. ] --there's no Junes here!
[ Anyways, back to the point. ] Um, if anybody out there knows how to get out of here, could you tell me how to leave? I've got to get back home before daddy comes back from work. [ She offers a shy smile, finally settling down and looking straight at the camera. ]
Thanks a whole bunch, if you wanna help... goodbye. [ One hopeful Nanako ends her video with a half-hearted wave. ]
Third Person: The only thing she can really think to be right now is confused. She doesn't know how she got here, in a city she's never been in, in front of a house that isn't hers, on a lawn chair she doesn't remember having.
Nanako isn't really worried about her family because she knows her hero, her big brother will come and save her just like last time. Like he always does. But instead of letting him do all the work, she can at least try and find a way out of here on her own. It's not like this place looks as dangerous as the TV world, anyways. She'll be alright on her own.
Hopefully.
First thing's first; she should try and remember where she is. She gets off of the lawn chair and thinks for a minute, pacing back and forth and all. Hollyheights, was it...? Yeah, that was definitely it. Even so, she wasn't sure how close this place was to home, let alone to Inaba.
The Landlord(?) gave her this video-camera-phone-thing that she's holding, so she figures she should use it to ask the other people who are here if they know how to get out. She can do it all on her own, like a big girl; big bro will be so proud!
Time to make use of it and get some help.
