Remilia peered expectantly around the shop, her pink shoes clacking on the wood as she strolled among the merchandise. It was all junk, bits of devices she could tell were broken without even being able to identify them. She reached out, anyway, and picked up a twisted piece of metal, turning it over in her hands ones before dropping it carelessly back on the table. Something underneath it cracked. She turned to the next table over, apparently heedless of the damage. This time, she tapped a row of wooden objects with her claws, stopping on the last object in the line.
A wooden box, as far as she could tell, with a circle of plastic laid over it. What really attracted her attention was the curving metal horn attached, opening at the top like a flower. She trailed a claw up the side, letting the whine of movement on the metal curl into the air.
"Oh, my...," she mused. Turning to face the shopkeeper, she cleared her throat. "What's this?"
He didn't look up from his book as he replied, "A device from the outside world."
She huffed impatiently, glaring at him. "I know that. Tell me, if you'd be so kind, what it does."
That was not really a request. She watched him as though she was bored of the whole place, but with her wings unfolding on her back to make her figure more impressive. She fluttered them impatiently as she waited for his answer.
"It plays music. Turn the crank and lower that arm."
That seemed to change everything, her red eyes lighting with curiosity once more. She even turned the crank herself, and delicately guided the strange arm down to the surface of the disk. When the music began, scratchy though it was, she clapped her hands in delight, bobbing on the tips of her toes. "How lovely! Yes, Sakuya, we'll take this one!"
At the first sound of her name, the maid had already detached herself from the wall, and was carrying the device to the counter with her mistress smiling at her side. She was already planning how to put her new acquisition to work.
"Once we return to the mansion, Sakuya, you'll set it up in the garden. I believe I want some music with my afternoon tea."
