History:

In the town of Beika, house address 2-21, stands a tall Western manor. There lives one young male by the name of Kudo Shinichi, a 17 year old high school student. But he isn’t just any highschooler, he’s in fact, the Savior of the Police. Yes, known as the Detective of the East, he spends his times solving cases as an amateur detective. His name is known far and wide within the police force and Japan as the only son of the world wide mystery novelist father and legendary actress mother. However, his fame is not entirely because of his parents but his own skills of deduction. There’s no case he can’t solve and the police are always ringing Holmes of the 20th Century up to solve their cases for them. Who knew detectives could be so popular, enough to have a fan club?

As if his brain wasn’t enough, god granted him looks and athletic ability. Shinichi had picked up soccer to hone his athletic ability (just like Holmes practiced fencing and boxing) and boy was he some soccer player. From the first year he joined in middle school, he had immediately become a regular Midfielder. From then on, his skills grew enough to become scouted by the J-League. Except he quit once he advanced to high school, so he could spend all his time for solving cases and reading mystery novels. He was quite a mystery freak. Afterall, his house had mystery novels from all over the world. You can imagine he grew to up to be quite a bookworm. His special favorite was none other than the great Sherlock Holmes. He practically worshipped that detective and strived to be just like him (which included picking up the violin). Once you had him start about Holmes he never stopped talking about him and everything about him. He has to be the biggest fanboy of Holmes in Tokyo. It was that bad.

But as you could see, yes, he had everything that anyone could ever wish for –money, fame, and looks. On top of that, his parents were in Los Angeles so he basically lived alone in the huge manor with no restraints. What could go wrong?

Well.

It all happened one day when he went on a date with his childhood friend, Mouri Ran at a theme park called Tropical Land. There, just as always, he solved a murder and was praised by the police, bystanders, and etc. As they were walking home his eye caught sight of a very suspicious man in black. His curiosity getting better of him, he chased that man and caught sight of a blackmail transaction occurring. Too involved with spying on the two, he didn’t notice another man in black coming behind him. Struck down with a bat, he was forced to swallow an experimental poison that an organization had created called APTX (apotoxin) 4869. However, instead of killing Shinichi like the men had hoped, he was shrunk to the size of little child. With the advice of his next door neighbor and good friend, Professor Agasa Hiroshi, he hides his true identity and moves into his childhood friend Ran’s house, whose father was a private detective.

Thus starts the life of Edogawa Conan, the first grader.

Things were tough at first, no one would listen to a child, he had to redo his primary education, he didn’t have strength and stamina, and worst of all, he couldn’t just walk into a scene and solve a case. No, he had to shoot Ran’s father, Mouri Kogorou with a watch-shaped sedative gun, then use his voice changing bow tie to speak and solve the case in Kogorou’s voice. This was a huge blow to Shinichi’s pride, who always liked his name being linked with the solving of the case. Yet, as he learns, being a kid means you gotta suck up that pride.

He later meets with a girl that had created the APTX4869 who had taken the drug in hopes of suicide, but instead ends up also as a young child. Formerly named Miyano Shiho (codename Sherry), she now hides herself at Professor Agasa’s house as Haibara Ai. She provides to be a source of information for the men that had attacked Shinichi and a strong ally as she is going through the same thing. She also brings the hope that a cure for the APTX4869 to be made so Conan can return to being Shinichi.

Haibara identifies the organization as just the Black Organization, a mysterious syndication that involves in the crimes ranging from blackmail to assassination. The exact reasons for the organization is unknown, but we do know that they were interested in immortality as the APTX4869 seemed to have been made to obtain that. Another thing known about the Black Organization is that as you can see with Haibara, their codenames are all names of alcohol. The person that had forced Shinichi to drink the drug was Gin and the other was his partner, Vodka. Others known are Vermouth, a female master of disguise, Chianti and Korn, snipers, and Kir, a double spy for the FBI/CIA. The latest member he had found out was Bourbon, who specializes in gathering information. It had turned out to be none other than Amuro Tooru, a young detective that had just entered their lives to be "Mouri's apprentice".

Conan has teamed up with an array of people including the FBI, Okiya Subaru, a supposed medical student, his parents, and the phantom thief, Kaitou Kid to find information and fend off the threats of the the Black Organization in hopes to destroy it and get his actual body back. All the while solves cases as Mouri Kogorou, keeping his identity a secret from Ran whilst trying to keep (more like start) a relationship with her.

...It’s hard being a 17 year old stuck in a 7 year old body.

Appearance:

Edogawa Conan; oversized glasses, and usually wearing short pants. during deductions he can look confident, but when necessary looks completely like a child. a little small for his supposed age of 7.

Kudo Shinichi; usually found with a confident look on his face and cool blue eyes, often wearing either his school uniform or something light suit-like clothing

Personality:

I don't want to write about detective, I want to be one! The Modern Sherlock Holmes!

Ever since Shinichi debuted at 16 as the high school detective that solved every case he was in, the public has been fanatic about him. The newspapers all describe him as calm, collected, and cool. The modern Sherlock Holmes. Naturally, he's quite smart. But his intelligence isn't just book smarts; he's equipped with street smarts and a vast array of knowledge such as medicine, biology, technology, physics, psychology, and law. He knows a little bit of everything, and what's more, he has the ability to be able to piece it together the correct way with a flexible mind the ability to think outside the box. As he often says, his hero and idol is Sherlock Holmes. The way he deduces crimes is similar, and investigates a crime scene with a careful eye. Also like Holmes, he's quite logical as well. He rarely panics (unless those he cared were in a dangerous situation) and even during tight situations, he uses his brains.

You were always so self-assertive before...

But just like any teenage kid with talent and fame, Shinichi's always been a quite prideful. He's not as bad as to be called a snob, but he definitely wasn't humble. He enjoys the spotlight, and when the newspaper cameras were aimed at him, he's always posed with a confident smile. His high pride often made it hard for him to admit his faults. His intelligence has made him look down on people as well, and well, he often looks down on the police. There were times where he just pushes through the Inspector's stops and goes ahead with what he thinks is correct (which, usually is right). At times Shinichi would just take hold of the scene and start ordering around on what the police to do. Of course, they weren't often stopped because he was right. To some, he was rather annoying with that confident smirk on his face, at it did make him look like a snob at times.

Will you just shut up with the Holmes this, Conan Doyle that already?! You mystery otaku!!!

But those faces were Kudo Shinichi the detective, of the public. To Mouri Ran, his childhood friend, he was just a childish, mystery fanatic. And, well, he was. His world revolves around mystery and his lover would be cases. If something interested him, he would drop everything there was and run towards it. The worst was when he got started talking on Sherlock Holmes. On and on he would talk about it, with no regard to the person listening to him, or the setting. During his date with Ran, 95% of the conversation was just him talking about how awesome Holmes was, much to the annoyance of Ran.

To her, he was just a childhood friend that needed to be looked after like a little brother. And she's not wrong on thinking him as a little childish. He doesn't like to admit his real feelings readily, and when bad things or reputations come up on the things he had liked, he becomes grumpy and ends up disliking it completely. Also pretty competitive as well, he likes to take on challenges and win. If someone picks a fight on him, he takes it with full intent to make them regret ever picking a fight on him. He tackles on cases like a gleeful child in front of a toy. And doesn't move from in front of it until he's satisfied. Thanks to his great concertation, he shuts out everything else. Including sleep and eating, so Ran has more than often scolded him for forgetting to eat. Of course, concentration is a good thing, but for him it's a little too much at times, and the reason he became Conan in the first place was because he was too engrossed in the scene in front of him.

I don’t care about a reason for a person killing a person, but there’s no logical reason for a person helping a person, is there?

Although Shinich can be quite childish, and have high pride, he's caring for the people that he loves. It's hard to enter his bubble that he considers someone close, but once you do, it's even harder to get out. To those he cares, he'll do everything in his power to protect that person, even if he got hurt himself. Underneath that cool demeanor that the public seems him as, he's quite a passionate, emotional being. He also has strong sense of justice and morals. He believes that no murder, no matter what the reason, should be forgiven, but at the same time he believes no person, no matter how bad, deserves to die. Which means he would reach out a helping hand to anyone, even a criminal. A prime example of that would be when he went to New York and along with Ran, saved a murderer from falling off a safety ladder. At times, his fastidiousness and wanting to protect all lives cause him pains, but that's also probably the reason, despite his personality flaws, people stick by him and care for him.

There's no win or lose in this. No first or second. There is only one truth.

But let's also say it here, that although he has strong morals and sense of justice, he isn't exactly on the side of the police. It's more obvious as Conan, but to him, a detective is not the symbol of justice, but a pursuer of truth. Whether it brings good or bad results, he searches for the hidden truth in the darkness and pulls it to the light. That truth, along with the actual crime, is to be judged by the police and court. So, during his search for truth, he has no qualms of breaking a few laws here and there. (mainly in tapping suspects, swiping evidence from the police, and breaking in) If possible, he often give advices to criminal worth sympathy so that they could lighten their sentence. But to the criminals that show no sign of guilt at all, he often well... tends to catch them quite roughly (aka kicking a soccer ball at their face) or corner them psychologically. He's been described as "a holder of keen intellect that looks through a person's heart with the cunning of a demon." So, he's definitely a criminal's worst nightmare at times. He's said before that he enjoys the thrill of cornering a suspect as well, so definitely far from "just hero".

However, for all the cornering of suspects he does, there is one thing he does not approve. And that is "a detective that corners a suspects to suicide with their deductions is no different than a murderer." Ever since he messed up and caused a suspect to burn to their death, he has taken utmost caution to keep the criminals alive.

You're a tricky case! All these unnecessary emotions get in the way, even if I was Holmes it would be impossible... to correctly read the feelings of the woman I love!

Shinichi is definitely naive with romance and the topic in general. Sure he likes girls fawning on him with all those fan letters, but his heart has always been set on one person only, and that's Ran. It took him about 5 years to actually admit he liked her... to her. (it was obvious to everyone else) In a way, he's quite a romantic, as he likes to use cheesy methods to make her happy. However, after he's become Conan, he's gotten better at saying necessary words to soothe her worries, but at the same time, the existence of Ran is so important to him, that he's thought at times that it would be better if he gave her up, since he's only made her cry. He knows that he can never chose Ran over cases, and that makes him feel guilty. He has told her countless times to wait for him, that he'll come back (as Shinichi) even if he died, but at the same time, he feels guilty of binding her. Yet, when he sees her still waiting for him, it makes him happy and the goal of returning to Ran's side is what drives him most during his time as Conan.

On a more lighter note, like any shonen manga hero, he's actually pretty dense to feelings towards him. He has a quite a few girls, younger and older interested in him, but he... never seems to pick it up. The mystery of emotions is apparently something difficult for him to solve.

You can't stand on the stage anymore. Nor can you stand under the sunlight.

Once Shinchi had become Conan, there was quite a lot of things that changed about him. And the biggest was his ego. He's still confident in his deductions, but he no longer yearns for the spotlight and in fact does his best to not let his name be released to the public. He’s learned to stay in the shadows and move the pieces from there. Being a child, means he's not often taken seriously and brushed off. To convey what he's found and figured out he has to explain it in a very roundabout way, or use the voice of an adult. The lack of physical strength also caused him a huge pain at first, but he's learnt to accept it.

Perhaps one of the biggest weapon Conan has is his ability to adapt to his environment quickly and switch the gears in his head in a blink of an eye. Instead of having trouble of getting used to being a child and spending most of his time bitter about it, he's adapted, and what's more, found a way to use this disadvantage, to his advantage. Conan is resourceful, perhaps even more than Shinichi. He uses his environment to the best of his advantage to get through everyday happenings or dead-or-alive situations. He has the ability to lead and maneuver from the front or from the back. He sees the whole picture and figures out the best way to make something happen.

You're quite good at acting like a child.

Shinichi's mother, Kudo Yukiko, is a former renowned actress, and those acting skills has definitely passed on to Shinichi. Since he lives a life of lie now, he has to keep the facade of a child in front of adults. And he's quite good at it. At times, his over-the-top childish act drops guards in adults, and that is Edogawa Conan's main weapon. Nobody really suspects a small kid. He can act like a curious young boy nosing around. He can drop hints as if a child found something unusual. He uses his age and appearance to full benefit while asking questions and favors. To many adults, Edogawa Conan is a cute, curious, at times bratty, but polite and intelligent child that has a knack of finding odd things at crime scenes.

The child he acts is the child that adults perceive as a "cute kid". Conan's learnt to throw away shame at times to be seen as a kid so that he can solve the case properly. He's flatters and babies up to adults, making you just want to pat his head and mother him. But to criminals he often starts questioning in this fashion as well, so it can be quite terrifying to them. To the elementary kids though, he acts like his normal self which causes question marks in them when they see him talking all sweet to the adults. He's also gotten quite good at taking care of kids as well, encouraging them at times and having fun with them at different times.

Stop running. Don't run from your destiny.

Although at times he's been surprisingly mature on some parts even when he was Shinichi, he's gotten more maturer as Conan. He's learnt to restrain his emotions, and take in limits. But he never gives up. No matter how much the odds are facing him, he tackles it head-on and never turns his back to it. His strong will, always looking forward, is something inspiring to people around him. At the same time, it causes them worry. He's always been reckless, he goes forth with no fear and will do anything to hunt for the truth. Even if he's beaten down, he comes back up again. To the last moment, he continues to fight. He doesn't show weakness to people often, and he never cries. No matter what.

That strength is something that is bright to some people, and stirs interest in the people of the dark parts of society. But it's just that what is needed to defeat a crime syndicate, as he's called the "silver bullet" to end the Black Organization by Vermouth.

Abilities:

The main weapon of Conan is his intelligence and his ability to use it. Since he's great at using every resource around him, he can probably survive in the wild if he needed to. However, he's not just a bookworm. A former soccer ace on his team, he has quite the reflexes and athletic ability. He also has mad skills on the skateboard as well, able to do flips, ollies and block bullets. It's not just skateboards he can control well though, he is able to drive a car and motorboat, maneuver a helicopter, paraglider, and plane.

He's also an expert marksman with the gun. He can shoot a string from a helicopter and he rarely shoots off target. Weapons-wise, he also knows how to dismantle a bomb as well. He's seen to be able to hack a computer as well.

Despite his glasses, he has great eyesight. He also has great hearing as well, as he’s able to hear the slightest change in sound. Although he can’t sing to save his life, he has perfect pitch and knows what note is perfectly. He can play the violin too, yet has a destructive sense of singing. It’s quite a mystery... However, his biggest weakness would be his lack of stamina and strength as he’s stuck in the body of a 7 year old. It also seems he has a weak immune system as well, seeing that he gets a cold quite often.

In addition, Edogawa Conan always have several gadgets with him to aid in hid investigations and self-defense (because he's fucking Bond. James Bond). They're disguised as clothing accessories and all created by his next-door neighbor, Agasa Hiroshi.
Voice Changing Bow Tie : A voice changer shaped like a bowtie with speakers on it. Through it Conan can use voices from a young girl to an old man. It can also be connected to button-shaped sticker speaker so he can say his deductions from a distance.
Stun Gun Wristwatch : A wristwatch that is able to shoot a thin needle painted with tranquilizer once. The effects of the tranquilizer is strong enough it can apparently "knock out an elephant for 30 minutes". The watch can also double as a flashlight.
Criminal Locator Glasses : Not only do these glasses used as a disguise to hide his face of Kudo Shinichi, it lets Conan stalk people. ... ... or, well, suspects. Remember the button-shaped sticker speaker? Well, he has another button-shaped sticker, but this time it's an oscillator. And these glasses are able to track it. The right temple tip of the glasses can come off and become a transmitter as well, which he can also hear with is glasses. But wait, there's more! It's able to turn into night vision mode, and also be used as a binocular!!! Basically it does everything but aid people with bad eyesight to see.
Kick Power Assisting Shoes : These shoes enhances the foot muscle electricity and magnetic shit (don't ask for details). The power of the kick can be adjusted by the dial on the side, and it seems there are three levels. But, with just the middle power he kinda, broke a full-grown tree in half, so let's not even ask just what happens when using the highest power. Conan can also use this to aid him in jumping just a little higher at times.
Anywhere Ball Dispensing Belt : it looks fucking lame. I mean, the belt inflates a rubber, soccer ball and can dispense it at the wanted size. However, it kinda deflates in just 10 seconds so Conan needs to be fast on kicking it. Also, at max, the soccer ball is able to be inflated to the size of a hot air balloon.
Elasticity Suspender : It’s suspenders. That are elastic. And it stretches to forever. You can tie to heavy objects and pull them up. Or you can bungee jump off the Tokyo Tower with it.
Detective Boys Badge : A transceiver used by the Detective Boys to communicate with each other. Also is an oscillator.

Other: Quite the soccer fanatic, it's probably something after mystery he loves to do. Also, Word of God states that only half a year has passed since Shinchi became Conan. ... even if five Valentine cases have happened...

First Person: sample post + threads

Third Person:

Conan had said no. Many times. So. Many. Times. But Ran, Sonoko, and Sera had somehow gotten him into a karaoke box. Fighting back the urge to make up some reason like "Professor Agasa was asking to blah blah blah" and such, he sat on top of the chair, sipping the orange juice with a frown on his face. He looked like a kid that didn't get the toy he wanted. Or in this case, a kid who was forced to go somewhere he didn't want to go.

After couple of turns done by the three high school girls, Sera had given the mike to him. Conan shook his head claiming he didn't sing. It wasn't like he disliked singing, no, but he knew he wasn't the best at it. ...Despite his practicing. Ran had been laughing wryly and Sonoko was just plain snickering. Sera had no idea why they were acting like that, and just as pushy as always, Conan had been cornered into doing what he the worst at.

The intro rang throughout the small room. Ran just smiled at Conan knowing what was coming, Sonoko put her hand to her ears (that woman!) and Sera just looked on cluelessly. Opening his mouth widely, he let out the first note.

"That boy that looks good in basket shoes~"

Sera's eyes turned into dots, but Conan ignored that and continued singing. He had warned her beforehand!

As the song kept going, Ran's smile looked like it was plastered, Sonoko was facepalming, and Sera was just frozen in spot at Conan's singing. Dammit, this was why he hated karaoke!!

A quick question! Conan is around 5~7 at body, but 17 mentally. If he was to turn 18 here, would he be put in the parent slot, despite looking like a complete child?
