In the town of Beika, house address 2-21, stands a tall Western manor. There lives one young male by the name of Kudo Shinichi, a 17 year old high school student. But he isn’t just any highschooler, he’s in fact, the Savior of the Police. Yes, known as the Detective of the East, he spends his times solving cases as an amateur detective. His name is known far and wide within the police force and Japan as the only son of the world wide mystery novelist father and legendary actress mother. However, his fame is not entirely because of his parents but his own skills of deduction. There’s no case he can’t solve and the police are always ringing Holmes of the 20th Century up to solve their cases for them. Who knew detectives could be so popular, enough to have a fan club?
As if his brain wasn’t enough, god granted him looks and athletic ability. Shinichi had picked up soccer to hone his athletic ability (just like Holmes practiced fencing and boxing) and boy was he some soccer player. From the first year he joined in middle school, he had immediately become a regular Midfielder. From then on, his skills grew enough to become scouted by the J-League. Except he quit once he advanced to high school, so he could spend all his time for solving cases and reading mystery novels. He was quite a mystery freak. Afterall, his house had mystery novels from all over the world. You can imagine he grew to up to be quite a bookworm. His special favorite was none other than the great Sherlock Holmes. He practically worshipped that detective and strived to be just like him (which included picking up the violin). Once you had him start about Holmes he never stopped talking about him and everything about him. He has to be the biggest fanboy of Holmes in Tokyo. It was that bad.
But as you could see, yes, he had everything that anyone could ever wish for –money, fame, and looks. On top of that, his parents were in Los Angeles so he basically lived alone in the huge manor with no restraints. What could go wrong?
Well.
It all happened one day when he went on a date with his childhood friend, Mouri Ran at a theme park called Tropical Land. There, just as always, he solved a murder and was praised by the police, bystanders, and etc. As they were walking home his eye caught sight of a very suspicious man in black. His curiosity getting better of him, he chased that man and caught sight of a blackmail transaction occurring. Too involved with spying on the two, he didn’t notice another man in black coming behind him. Struck down with a bat, he was forced to swallow an experimental poison that an organization had created called APTX (apotoxin) 4869. However, instead of killing Shinichi like the men had hoped, he was shrunk to the size of little child. With the advice of his next door neighbor and good friend, Professor Agasa Hiroshi, he hides his true identity and moves into his childhood friend Ran’s house, whose father was a private detective.
Thus starts the life of Edogawa Conan, the first grader.
Things were tough at first, no one would listen to a child, he had to redo his primary education, he didn’t have strength and stamina, and worst of all, he couldn’t just walk into a scene and solve a case. No, he had to shoot Ran’s father, Mouri Kogorou with a watch-shaped sedative gun, then use his voice changing bow tie to speak and solve the case in Kogorou’s voice. This was a huge blow to Shinichi’s pride, who always liked his name being linked with the solving of the case. Yet, as he learns, being a kid means you gotta suck up that pride.
He later meets with a girl that had created the APTX4869 who had taken the drug in hopes of suicide, but instead ends up also as a young child. Formerly named Miyano Shiho (codename Sherry), she now hides herself at Professor Agasa’s house as Haibara Ai. She provides to be a source of information for the men that had attacked Shinichi and a strong ally as she is going through the same thing. She also brings the hope that a cure for the APTX4869 to be made so Conan can return to being Shinichi.
Haibara identifies the organization as just the Black Organization, a mysterious syndication that involves in the crimes ranging from blackmail to assassination. The exact reasons for the organization is unknown, but we do know that they were interested in immortality as the APTX4869 seemed to have been made to obtain that. Another thing known about the Black Organization is that as you can see with Haibara, their codenames are all names of alcohol. The person that had forced Shinichi to drink the drug was Gin and the other was his partner, Vodka. Others known are Vermouth, a female master of disguise, Chianti and Korn, snipers, and Kir, a double spy for the FBI/CIA. The latest member he had found out was Bourbon, who specializes in gathering information. It had turned out to be none other than Amuro Tooru, a young detective that had just entered their lives to be "Mouri's apprentice".
Conan has teamed up with an array of people including the FBI, Okiya Subaru, a supposed medical student, his parents, and the phantom thief, Kaitou Kid to find information and fend off the threats of the the Black Organization in hopes to destroy it and get his actual body back. All the while solves cases as Mouri Kogorou, keeping his identity a secret from Ran whilst trying to keep (more like start) a relationship with her.
...It’s hard being a 17 year old stuck in a 7 year old body.
Appearance:
Edogawa Conan; oversized glasses, and usually wearing short pants. during deductions he can look confident, but when necessary looks completely like a child. a little small for his supposed age of 7.
Kudo Shinichi; usually found with a confident look on his face and cool blue eyes, often wearing either his school uniform or something light suit-like clothing
