History: Lord Wolfram von Bielefelt is the third and youngest son of Demon Queen Cecilie in the Great Demon Kingdom, which exists in a world parallel to regular, modern Earth. Most demons, who resemble humans but have elemental powers, live within the Kingdom's borders and follow the rule of their chosen King and the spiritual will of the Original King, who founded the nation. His half-brothers, Lord Gwendal and Lord Conrart (commonly called Conrad by Yuuri), managed the Kingdom when Cecilie stepped down, following a bitter war with human nations that ended with no gain. Having grown up spoiled in the castle with little regard for others' feelings, Wolfram was an absolute brat with a deep hatred for humans, even refusing to acknowledge Conrad as his brother due to Conrad's human father. Like many other demons in the nobility, he yearned for any excuse to start another war with human nations, rather than sit by idly.
The Original King's spirit ordered that the new Demon King be born on Earth, then brought to the Demon Kingdom at age 15 through water-based pathways the Original King opened himself. Yuuri Shibuya, a plain Japanese student, was literally flushed to the Demon Kingdom and expected to take on his predetermined role immediately, despite not being told anything beforehand. Angry at the choice of King, Wolfram insulted Yuuri's human mother in the middle of dinner in front of his brothers and mother. In retaliation, Yuuri slapped Wolfram's left cheek - which, unfortunately for Yuuri, is a means of proposal among the nobility in that world. Embarrassed, Wolfram challenged Yuuri to a duel and lost to Yuuri's astonishingly powerful demon magic, proving his ability to be King. The rest is wacky history in a wacky world.
Wolfram's attitude did a speedy flip the next time Yuuri came to the Kingdom, seeming to take the accidental engagement seriously and getting insulted when Yuuri suggested taking it back. He began following Yuuri everywhere he went, sneaking into the King's chambers to sleep next to him, and calling Yuuri unfaithful whenever he spoke to someone else. Wolfram was still a bratty young prince, but his hatred for humans quickly dissolved as Yuuri pushed forth his goal to make peace with humans. He started calling Conrad by his first name and spoke to Yuuri's parents with the utmost respect in their first meeting on Earth. A young human girl named Greta tried to assassinate Yuuri, hoping it would gain favor with her foster parents; after learning her story, Yuuri adopted her, and Wolfram also declared himself Greta's father through their engagement. Between establishing a new family and trying to prevent international war, it got too busy for Yuuri and Wolfram to seriously discuss their engagement - not that Wolfram would let Yuuri end it.
After establishing himself as King, Yuuri and his retainers set out to find four Boxes scattered across the land. These Boxes contained parts of the Originators, a terrifying force that almost destroyed the world 4,000 years ago. The Original King sealed the Originators' power away in the Boxes, but the seals were deteriorating. Each Box's destructive power could be unlocked by a body part inherited from the family lines of ancestors who fought with the Original King, called a key. Wolfram and his brothers all had a key to the Boxes, with his own key being his heart. They were all tricked into surrendering them by the Original King's spirit, causing Wolfram's heart to stop. His body was taken back to the castle and frozen while Yuuri fought against the Original King. Yuuri discovered the Original King had lost control of his will due to the power of the Originators, and had been possessed by their evil intent. Yuuri was able to vanquish the last remnants of the Originators, freeing the Original King and restarting Wolfram's heart. With a final burst of power, the Original King opened a pathway back to Earth, claiming it was the last time he could send Yuuri home. Knowing how much his fiance loved Earth, Wolfram told Yuuri to go, sobbing as he watched Yuuri leave for what he assumed would be for good.
With their beloved King gone and the Original King no longer picking heirs for them, the demon nobles had to choose their own new ruler, which fell onto Wolfram. In the beginning, he would have been a ruthless, bratty king with the goal to wipe out all human life. After working with Yuuri, however, his beliefs and intentions for the Demon Kingdom were the exact same as Yuuri's. He too desired world peace and diplomatic talks instead of warfare as solutions; even though he doubted it was fully possible to avoid war, he vowed he would follow Yuuri's footsteps and create the Kingdom his fiance envisioned.
Naturally, after this decision, Yuuri surprisingly discovered he was able to return on his own and landed in the Demon Kingdom once again. With the relations he had established before, the nation was more than happy to let him resume as King, with Wolfram more than happy to resume supporting Yuuri, as both a partner and jealous fiance.
Personality: On the surface, Wolfram's personality is easy to figure out. He has all the features of a young, spoiled prince: hot-tempered, quick to pick fights, and looking down on those he deems inferior, whether it be social status or race. He started out only respecting two people: his mother Cecilie and his eldest brother Gwendal, whom he believed should have become King. He was as proud as any demon could be for his nation, and searched for any excuse to prove its strength. Watching his brothers go to war and soaking up his late father's hatred for humans made him a difficult person to approach, unless that person was actively looking to be insulted. He detests anyone who betrays or abandons their loyalties, and will usually refuse to make amends with anyone deemed a traitor.
Yuuri's influence may not have changed much on the surface, but everything else for Wolfram changed deep down. His loss to Yuuri over their accidental engagement seemed to humble him; Yuuri may have been the only person to ever tell Wolfram to shape up in front of a dozen other people. It was insulting to hear, sure, but Wolfram realized that despite their fight, Yuuri was still willing to work with him as a friend, not a servant. Wolfram is too proud to fully admit how different his beliefs are now, but he believes his actions speak enough: he loves the Great Demon Kingdom as much as Yuuri, and Yuuri does a bizarrely fantastic job at stopping conflict; it only makes sense for him to support Yuuri's goals unconditionally.
Wolfram isn't one to sugarcoat what's truly happening. His brothers and the King's retainers tend to avoid giving Yuuri a complete rundown of current events, but Wolfram insists on telling Yuuri what's going on, plain and simple, as an uninformed King makes a weak King to him. Should anything happen to Yuuri, he acts impulsively until ordered back by one of the few people superior to him. Wolfram accepted Yuuri's adoption of Greta without question and became her second father. For someone who spent all his life despising humans, starting a family with a human girl is phenomenal. Despite being inexperienced young parents, he and Yuuri take care of Greta as though she's always been theirs. He's oddly insistent on declaring all sorts of creatures as their children, from bearbees to fire-breathing dragons, and has risked his life to save human children from a fire. Having grown up in a big family himself, a strong family unit is important to him. In his first visit to Earth, Wolfram called Yuuri's parents his own, already treating them as in-laws, and adores Yuuri's human mother. Wolfram now understands that he must show respect to gain someone else's respect, though that's an effort he'll only do in rare cases - he's still learning.
It took very little time for him to admit his love to Yuuri, though it wasn't returned. It's a lot for Yuuri to take in, especially when he's busy trying to be a teenage Demon King and prevent world disaster, but Wolfram understands that. He sometimes tries to subtly push for physical affection, but he never insists that Yuuri marry him, and won't ask for it until he's certain Yuuri is ready (in the novel versions, they almost do get married due to outside pressure, but Wolfram calls it off). He undoubtedly fancies the idea of marrying in the future (Yuuri's mother enjoys giving him wedding ideas), but after some time following his new King, Wolfram develops a trait no one thought possible before: selflessness. Wolfram ordered Yuuri to return to Japan when everyone thought it was his last chance to, putting aside his desires just for Yuuri to be with his parents again. Even more shockingly, he was chosen to become the next King during Yuuri's brief absence. No longer did he desire wiping out the human race or overtaking outside nations - he decided he would rule peacefully as a tribute to Yuuri's wishes, even if he doubted his ability to be as good as a King. With Yuuri's return, he's more than content to support Yuuri as not only a fiance, but as a partner and honest friend. It doesn't show much, as he still seethes whenever Yuuri talks too friendly to someone else, but every so often he'll mutter a small compliment.
Abilities: Wolfram's main and most powerful ability is the use of fire magic. He can summon beasts made of fire to attack whatever target he chooses, which often take the forms of lion-like creatures. While in human nations, however, demons are unable to use their magic (except for Yuuri) and the suppression on his magic can make Wolfram feel ill. He can also use it for minimal, basic healing, in the event he actually feels like healing someone else. Wolfram is one of the Kingdom's top swordsmen and, like his brothers, has military training and his own personal army. He knows battlefield strategies and often teaches new recruits, though his emotions can get in the way and make him a clumsy and impulsive fighter. He knows running headfirst into battle isn't wise, but Yuuri does it all the time and Wolfram can't help following along to keep his fiance out of danger. When he's not wanting to burn or stab something, he's an incredible painter with a natural talent for realism, though he prefers to paint in an obscure interpretation of cubism that can barely be called art.
Other: He gets seasick very easily, likes wearing frilly pink negligees to bed, and keeps a marriage license hidden in his clothes in the event that he and Yuuri end up in a life-or-death situation and may not get out alive in time.

Third Person: Having to live in a world so radically different from one's homeland was something that Wolfram had hoped to adapt to a bit quicker than he currently was. It reminded him of Yuuri's initial confusion for having to live in the Demon Kingdom, and Wolfram's goal of proving it wasn't that hard to adapt was crumbling splendidly. He already knew the basics from his few visits to Japan - strange switches that turned on artificial sunlight, yes, big metal birds that could fly several countries over in a matter of hours, sure - but a life of luxury and pampering from Yuuri's mother meant he rarely operated any of these human devices on his own.
He frowned at the stove-top, as though it were an enemy blocking his critical path. Why did a device need so many switches to operate? He'd watched Jennifer use it but never tried himself. Staring wasn't producing any results, so Wolfram picked one of the knobs and turned it, jumping slightly when it clicked and ignited a small, blue ring of fire. Alright, so he was able to activate one of these...things. Progress.
Chopping vegetables was next: a far easier task that any simpleton could do and one that didn't require any poking of buttons. It also turned out to be a great stress reliever, as Wolfram sliced out all of the day's frustrations onto a helpless carrot. Perhaps adapting to this place would take a while longer after all, but he'd prove to Yuuri he could do it, just so the idiot wouldn't have to worry about him.
