It was funny, really. As much as Hope's Peak had induced despair in his classmates at one point or another, Togami hadn't really felt anything comparable at all while he was there. Irritation, certainly. His "classmates," after all, were hardly anywhere near competent, and those that were anywhere near remotely close were insufferable. But far from wallowing in despair as others had, Togami had enjoyed the thrill of something as high-stakes as Hope's Peak. Or at least he had until certain people decided to disregard the rules of the game, but that was neither here nor there.
What was funny, he thought, was that if someone were attempting to drive him to the point of desperation, something like this had a far better chance of succeeding than anything that bear had dreamed up previously. It wouldn't work, of course; he was Byakuya Togami, and if he were to break down in response to something like this, then he wouldn't be worthy of being the successor to the Togami family, now would he?
Togami poured over the documents he found waiting for him after his arrival. The lease seemed standard enough--something to go over later regardless of how standard it seemed, of course--but that wasn't what interested him. His attention was focused on the marriage license, and the more he looked over the document, searching for some sort of loophole or a disclaimer that 'hey this is all just a joke!,' the deeper his frown grew. It was true he wasn't entirely familiar with whatever laws might be governing this place (not yet, anyway), which is why Togami made up his mind. Standing up, Togami crumpled the marriage license into a heap on the table, next to the other, neglected documents scattered around it, and reached for the phone that had been left for him by their oh so gracious landlord. After all, if the other people in this place weren't completely useless, there had to be at least one lawyer among them, right?
