IC INFORMATION Characters Name: Germany (Federal Republic of Germany) Age: Physical age is 20. Actual age is unknown, but at least from the Unification of Germany in 1871, which would make him 142. Canon: Axis Powers Hetalia Canon Point: Current times. Species: Country Gender: Male Orientation: Bisexual. He's gone out on a date with Italy in the series, so it's very clearly not 100% heterosexual!
History:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Germany http://hetalia.kitawiki.net/index.php?title=Germany Appearance:Here Personality: The most noticeable trait Germany has when considering his personality is his seriousness and strict nature. Whether it is cleaning or battlefield situations, Germany takes them all very seriously. He is almost always seen with a scowl on his face and if not that, a neutral expression. It isn't that he is always angry, but it's just his serious nature showing through. Complaining isn't something that is heard with Germany. It grates on his nerves most of the time and would much rather a task be completed silently. He is a perfectionist down to the core, so every task must be done correctly. His strict attitude applies to himself and others, as seen in his multiple training sessions with Italy and Japan. He holds himself to incredibly high standards, constantly training and being on the move in order to keep himself in top condition. Being strict is just something that is natural to him. He has things scheduled down to the smallest detail in order to make the most out of his time and run things in the most efficient way.
Germany has a bit of an issue with mess and disorder. Everything has a place and must be just so for him to feel comfortable. His neat freak nature is apparent in the series in one particular episode where Italy cooks in the kitchen. The entire time he is cooking, Germany is wiping counters constantly to try and clean up. In his songs, he mentions more than once that if someone is going to cook (and dirty the kitchen), they should just not cook at all. Laundry must be folded neatly, even things that he has been wearing and just took off. It all goes back to his desire for a clean, neat environment. Germany also has a habit of reading manuals completely before taking on tasks, just so that he is informed and doesn't make mistakes.
At times, Germany does have a temper. He tries to keep himself composed most of the time and pushes things down that bother him. This is a big issue, though, as it leads to violent outbursts. Many of his headaches and temper issues come from dealing with Italy, who frustrates Germany on so many levels. They are on complete opposite sides of the spectrum, where Germany is neat, orderly, and strict and Italy is messy, lazy, and cowardly. When he has had enough, he usually lashes out at Italy verbally to try and get him to right his behavior. With having so little patience, Germany has had difficulties at world meetings. The other countries fight and talk over one another, irritating Germany. So he lost his temper and yelled at them, setting a schedule for them to follow so that everyone wouldn't be talking over one another.
The words "scary" and "intimidating" have been used to describe Germany in the series by other characters. This is likely due to his stoic appearance and awkward nature. Most of the time, he isn't terribly talkative with others, so he comes across as the strong, silent type. Combine that with the traits mentioned above and he certainly comes across as intimidating. However, Germany isn't so scary at all at his core. He is at a loss when it comes to dealing with other people. He doesn't understand how some people think, nor does he know the appropriate way to respond to them. Most of the misunderstandings he has with others come from the fact that he can't read them and doesn't know how to respond. So instead of saying something strange, Germany will usually just keep quiet and stew in the awkwardness.
Making friends isn't something that comes to Germany easily. With the traits mentioned above, most people are wary about approaching him. Also, it takes a while before Germany would consider trusting anyone. That isn't saying that he doesn't want friends, though. Behind that tough, serious exterior, he really wants someone who understands him. When he does make a friend, he is incredibly loyal to them. He goes out of his way to help them, even if it means putting himself into danger. Germany seems to always come to the aid of Italy, despite being called on countless times for both serious and frivolous issues. His loyalty stretches far beyond what the average person's would, going as far as to refuse giving his enemies information about his allies and their situation, despite facing the threat of torture.
Germany certainly isn't afraid of hard work. Everything is some kind of training to him, including the strict schedules he makes for himself. He goes through different kinds of physical training, ranging from running laps to lifting weights. He would rather be prepared for any situation that might come up than not prepared. He isn't completely about work and schedules, however. He knows the importance of having down time and regularly takes time out to go drinking with his brother. In fact, drinking beer is one of his favorite things to do in his spare time, along with eat wurst. It's just a matter of balancing the down time with all of the other things he has scheduled.
Abilities: Does the ability to understand/deal with Italy count? Other than being able to withstand more damage as a country and having the fast healing, I don't think there are any special abilities. Other:
[A very disgruntled Germany appears before the camera, perfectly centered in the middle of the screen. The papers he woke up with are in a neat stack and held in one of his hands.]
I have taken the time to read through these papers, as well as the information that you all have collected during your time here, so we can skip the initial confusion of suddenly waking up in a strange place. Also, I made note of which countries were here as listed in the phone. However...
[His eye twitches just a bit, from irritation.]
LESSOR! I demand a meeting with you! Abducting numerous people from their homes without permission or notice is unacceptable! If you fail to send word, I will take this as an act of war.
[He takes in a breath and sighs it out afterwards, reaching up to pinch the bridge of his nose. Calming breaths, calming breaths!]
I have already surveyed the house and there don't appear to be any listening devices. I've also taken notes on the area that was "given" to me. Everything seems to be completely normal, if not American in style.
[He pauses for a moment, then looks back to the screen.]
Italien! Japan! When you get this message, contact me.
That is all!
[End transmission~]
Third Person:Late. Italy was late for training. This was nothing new, of course, but that didn't make it any less irritating. They held these training sessions for a reason and Italy was already behind enough as it was. He was cowardly and ran whenever something frightening became a possibility of showing up. He wanted to take naps often. It really rubbed Germany the wrong way sometimes.
However...There wasn't much that could be done about it. Italy was just like that by nature and Germany had tried hard already to change him. Besides, it wasn't as if there was nothing redeeming about the country. There were times when his kindness and consideration for Germany touched him. So every now and then, he could afford to forgive him. Even if just a little.
With a heavy sigh, Germany turned on his heels and made his way back into the house. He was already behind schedule for the day, so there was no sense in waiting around for Italy to show up. It was a waste of time. He headed into the kitchen and paused in his stride. Something was amiss. Germany's eyes scanned the room, narrowing slightly as if that would help him single in on what had changed. It took him a while, but there it was. A large smear of food on the counter. He clenched his teeth and stomped over to the sink, grabbing up his dishrag. Then he went to attacking the smudge of food, wiping at it quickly. There was only one person who would leave his kitchen like this.
"ITALIEN!" Germany yelled out, scrubbing at the counter still. "When I get done here, you're going to drag yourself outside and do twice the laps!"
Of course, that was after he was done.
OTHER Housing Request?: Being put with another Hetalia would be pretty great! Did you read the rules and FAQ?: Yup. Would you like your application to be unscreened?: Sure.
REVISION REQUEST Your app is looking great so far! However, there are some changes to be made before full acceptance can be given:
Please rewrite or provide new links for both your first and third person samples. Both did not accurately display your ability to portray Germany's character ICly. Also, the third person sample is more focused on two characters than just Germany than his thoughts, actions, and self.
Please reply with your changes within three days time. Thank you!
[The video turns on and a very stern looking Germany is seen looking directly into the camera. Of course, the stern expression always seems to be on his face...unless he's forcing a smile. Then it just gets scary.]
First. One of you are missing a dog and a child. The child and dog appeared in my front lawn, digging up the garden which I had just finished planting.
[He glances back at the kid, who looks absolutely terrified of the big scary German man. If he is stuck in this place, he is going to have his house look like he wants it to. And he most certainly doesn't need animals and children ruining his work. He turns the camera around so that the kid and dog can be seen, looking fairly dirty.]
If these two belong in your house, send word immediately and I will escort them home.
Secondly, this dog is far too big for a child this size to be trying to walk. A small or medium sized dog would be a much better fit for someone of that height. Otherwise, you end up with this situation where the master has no way to control the dog and the dog ends up in someone's garden.
[He pauses for a moment to take in a breath and sigh it out. Honestly...He wasn't trying to lecture! It just came out that way when he was just trying to be helpful.]
If you are interested, I am willing to teach your dog basic obedience commands. That way, when you want it to do something it will li--OI! Dog! No! The couch is not the place to use the bathroom!
[The video abruptly cuts off.]

[Third Person]
His muscles burned and ached, but the end was in sight. The blond pushed himself extra hard in the final lap, as he was trying to beat his own personal record. Germany skidded to a halt, pressing the button on the stopwatch he had been carrying in hand during his path around the paved track. He hummed quietly as he looked over the time, nodding in satisfaction. Thirty two seconds faster than last time. While it was his best to date, he was sure that he could do better next time. However, it would have to wait until the next day. There were still things that needed to be done before he could relax too much.
He glanced over at the rising sun. The colors in the sky were quite stunning. Germany had been so focused on his training that he hadn't even noticed until it was nearly too late. He glanced down at the watch on his wrist, noting the time. There wasn't much spare time he had in his schedule, so Germany took one last look at the lovely display before turning on his heels and promptly heading back toward the locker room in the building nearby. Inside, his clean clothes were exactly where he left them. They were folded neatly, as to prevent them from being wrinkled. After all, there wasn't anything worse than a disheveled uniform. He sat himself down on the bench and pulled off his boots with a quiet sight. They were then set off to the side.
The blond's mind wandered back to moments earlier, when he had looked to the sky. It would have been nice to have been able to sit outside and watch the sunrise. If he compromised on that, though, it would throw his entire day off. As he pulled the shirt over his head and began folding it, he had a thought. "If I complete my schedule on time today, I'll stop by the market and buy some wurst and beer." He said to himself. Germany's lips quirked up into a small smirk, which was the most he could manage most days. There wasn't anything better after a hard day of working than a nice cold beer and some wurst.
Now if he could manage to get through the day without wanting to strangle Italy for slacking off or running away, it would be even better. It wasn't likely, but hey. Germany could dream.
