IC INFORMATION Characters Name: Black☆Star Age: 15-16 years old Canon: Soul Eater Canon Point: Chapter 109, during their battle with Kishin Species: Human Gender: Male Orientation: Straight History:Here. Appearance:Here.
Personality: One thing everyone should know about Black Star is that he’s not satisfied with the top. Oh no, he’s always pushing beyond that. He craves more and he refuses to be surpassed by the people around him. It doesn’t matter that he’s a human and the person beside him is a god. He will surpass their existence no matter what and make a name for himself. With that comes an extreme amount of arrogance. He doesn’t like it when people take his time in the spotlight unless he lets them (mostly involving his friends) and gets extremely angry when others look down on him. He’s very well known for having a self-absorbed soul and can only resonate with his partner, Tsubaki. Black Star is also known for referring to himself as ‘Great’ or ‘Big’, never forgetting to leave out an adjective so people won’t make a mistake.
But his arrogance shouldn’t be taken as a weakness. He may brag and boast but Black Star is a person who will never give up and dives headlong into the most dangerous situations. He’s absolutely dependent on his physical strength and endurance to pull him through any situation and it rarely fails him. Once, instead of practicing by sticking his finger in a pot of liquid that absorbed the soul, he simply drank it all, a fatal move for about every other person but him. He’s also apparently fairly decent at studying but tends to flop on tests because he really just doesn’t care. Either way, any challenge that’s presented to him, he dives head first into it to conquer it. HIs physical skills, however, don’t reflect on his mental faculties. He tends to lag behind others in terms of smarts and can never be called a genius in book smarts.
But you can’t forget his friends. Black Star, like his friend and rival Death the Kid, is very protective of his friends. He’s fine with giving them a fair share of popularity and more than happily will share danger with them. But if anyone dares to harm them, either physically or emotionally, he gets extremely worked up. Enough so that he’d probably end whomever tried to do such a thing. Along with that, he tends to be a person who doesn’t hold grudges for the past. He moves on and forgets previous slights, either intentionally or because he simply wasn’t smart enough to remember.
Overall, Black Star can be relied on for his positive outlook on things. When he’s not being intentionally angered, he can often be found with a smile on his face and an uplifting word or two for those who need it. He sometimes tends to go as far as hiding his negative feelings so others don’t have to deal with it, using his positive personality to keep everyone upbeat and on the ball.
Sadly, despite being a ninja, being loud and obtrusive is his default status. Many times, he can’t sneak worth a damn because he’s too busy announcing his presence to his foes. He often gets ragged on for this but he makes up for this with pure power, impressing and defeating his foes in giant explosions. Still, he often ignores orders and develops a form of tunnel vision, seeing only himself and the most powerful foe in a fight to the death. This works to his detriment at times, as he fails to see his own weaknesses until they’re shoved in his face and he’s beat down. Ironically, despite his attempts to peep at Tsubaki, his weapon, in the bath, Black Star is shown to be among the least perverted person among the main characters during the time all the characters swapped gender.
Abilities: Black Star is universally described as the most powerful meister in Shibusen. All his boasting isn’t in vain as he’s trained hard to reach this level.
In terms of physical strength, he can lift rocks that are practically fifty times his size without issue. His speed is off the chart and that’s without enhancement from pairing with a weapon. With Tsubaki, he can move fast enough to create clones that are real and not after images. All that combined with his skill makes him an overwhelming opponent for most people.
He’s also capable of using Soul Menace, which allows him to use his Soul Wavelength offensively. Black Star lacks skill but makes up for it in sheer power, using it to blast others in extreme explosions of power.
Hilariously, unlike other meisters, he lacks the ability to detect souls. Instead, he relies on his other senses, which are hyped up, to detect his foes. All five of his senses are in tune with each other, allowing him to detect people from long distances away. It’s pretty much a ninja skill on the level their own.
Black Star is also capable of changing his wavelength into something akin to Madness. It’s a dangerous technique that grants him a lot of power in return for coming close to going insane. But with Maka and her ability to nullify madness nearby, he can use this near indefinitely.
Third Person: Hold on a moment. There was something....ah, there it went. Black Star flicked the booger off his finger and waited for everyone else to show up for practice. When it came to school work, it seemed like he was always falling behind. He was always left behind after class and all that. Maybe in his dreams, he could see someone like Maka snickering at him behind his back.
But outdoor activities! HAH! This was where he’d shine. He’d barely even have to work to pass everyone. Especially when that Death the Kid was always intentionally pacing himself behind everyone else to get his perfect time. Whatever. He’d put in his all no matter the lack of competition. If he didn’t, well, he’d do a thousand laps around Shibusen. No one would call him lazy or unmotivated, even if he tended to just stare at paper tests. That didn’t count at all.
The fact that no one was showing up, that was a problem. You know, now that he thought about it, he had no clue where he was. This kind of green grass didn’t really exist in Nevada...right? Eh, if he waited here long enough someone would show up. There’s no way he’d make some kind of mistake like appearing in the wrong place. Whatever Holly Heights was in the first place.
