He hasn't been shown displaying any sort of sexual or romantic attraction towards anyone. Answering the "real" question behind this section, that is "Would your character be more comfortable with a wife, husband, or either?" is still tricky. Platonically? He'd be comfortable with either, though perhaps leaning more on males as (at least as far as adults go) he has more experience with them. What matters to him more is the person / personality. In a more sexual sense? Hard to say, he's very apathetic about romance and sex in general.
Tall and muscular, but not bulky, redhead with a pair of sharp, amber eyes. His hair -- fairly short, but not too short -- is usually messily spiked up, aside from two strands that always fall over his forehead and the sideburns. His expression is usually set into something like an apathetic frown and he can be seen smoking very often. He might also look perpetually tired due to the creases beneath his eyes.
Mikoto has been described by Kuroh as the King with the shortest fuse. Which may be at odds with how we see Mikoto in the series. He seems apathetic, almost lazy, sleeping a lot and seemingly calmly putting up with a lot as well. Part of the reason for this may be that when he became a King, he did actually shelve a part of that short-temper for the sake of his Clan, which by the way, speaks of great maturity; the ability to change oneself for the better for the sake of others. Another part might be that he has never been short-tempered in the "stereotypical" sense, if you will. He feels anger pretty much immediately when a reason comes, but he doesn't necessarily always act on it immediately.
Which is why his short temper is much different than, for example, Yata’s short temper.
But he does make decisions based on that anger and he sticks to them, stubborn as a mule one could say.
But anyway, this also begs question why does he go to such lengths for his Clansmen? Why does a man with such a visibly bad attitude does anything for the sake of other people? Because Mikoto has a big heart, as said by Kamamaoto. He comes to care, on very personal levels too, about every single person that comes to him, about every single person that wishes to join HOMRA. And while after Totsuka's death he did try to distance himself from them, it didn't mean he cared any less. I’d be a lie to say it was just for them, not for himself, but the reality is that it was most likely both for him and for them.
Obviously though, Mikoto's not a man without flaws, though. He is selfish in the sense that he was stubborn with his decision to be the one to slay the Colourless King, he was selfish in wanting Munakata to kill him when necessary, he was selfish in how his (in a way unnecessary) death would affect his Clansmen, his friends. But he wasn't selfish in the HOMRA raid on the Ashinaka High School, because he knew Munakata would be there and that he would do the right thing. That is kill him before he caused a disaster.
Mikoto also isn’t the type to enjoy power, mostly because he doesn’t enjoy what comes with it, which would be the loneliness. When people started looking up to him after he became the King, they started alienating him at the same time. They put him on a pedestal and he didn’t really like it, as he just wanted to be a part of it all too. What good was being a King when he was being excluded out of most everything, as all those things were deemed beneath him? And it’s a shown fact that he does enjoy being with his Clansmen, even if he only ever shows it in very subtle ways.
He's also the type that enjoys fighting for the sake of fighting, but not just any fight. He enjoys a challenge.
In their youth, Izumo also described Mikoto as someone who hates people sucking up to him and that held true throughout the years, if in a bit more mellow form. After all he wasn’t really upset with Yata’s idolization.
Lastly, Mikoto can be rude, he might sometimes appear to lack manners, he certainly doesn’t exactly care about appearances or what people think about him. He speaks very little and generally only when necessary. And he tries not to make a big deal out of the good deeds he does. One could say, he's also a lot like a cat: he can sleep anywhere, at any time, he does what he wants and he eats any and all food he's served.
Abilites:
Control over the fire element; his power manifests as a red (or well, it's kinda more pink) Aura around his entire body, or any body part he chooses. There aren't really any named attacks in K, but the Aura can be used both offensively: to enhance his physical blows, blast through walls with just the use of Aura, even cut, etc, and defensively: he can shield himself (and anyone around him) from other attacks.
It's all fancy talk, but there're also some more mundane advantages to his abilities, such as not requiring a lighter to light a fire, or being able to warm (or even dry) his body instantly by raising the temperature around himself. He can also keep the temperature around his near vicinity higher for an extended period of time, for example in winter.
Those are abilities based on the fact that he's a King, or more specifically the Red King. Otherwise Mikoto is also fit, quite nimble and agile for his height, and an experienced hand-to-hand fighter / brawler.

[ it's said before Mikoto brings the phone up to his mouth, gruff and clealy annoyed, and so quiet that it's barely picked up by the phone's microphone. he decides against addressing HOMRA for now, he'll find them or they will find him. if they're here at all. he hasn't checked the entire contact list, noticing it was wiped and replaced, going for a public broadcast to all instead.
he can feel his Aura blocked entirely and it's unpleasantly unnerving though it doesn't chip away at his confidence at all. even if it is annoying. it's something he avoids mentioning in any fashion-- ]
