Growing up in the underground village of Ritona, Yoko lived her early childhood and pre-teen years there until gunmen had attacked her village and she moved to the above ground. She lived there with people from her own village and some from neighboring ones. While Yoko looked far from her age, she was also rather mature though a typical sassy teenager at some moments. She then finally met Kamina and Simon while trying to shoot down gunmen that had attacked their village. Once Kamina and Simon joined her above ground is when her adventure really began. Yoko joined them with their misadventure of trying to take overcome all the beastmen and gunmen that had come to rule the above ground. During this time, she slowly began to fall in love with Kamina, exchanging one kiss before he was killed in action soon after that. Both she and Simon were left feeling empty and bitter at the world. After the death of Kamina, She especially was defensive and had built a wall around her heart. After the time Simon had found Nia, Yoko at first was rather rude to the girl. Feeling a bit betrayed that Simon had found someone to mend himself as she felt more alone. When Nia proved herself to be kind that was when Yoko slowly broke down the walls around her heart. She, alongside Simon and the members of the Dai Gurren Brigade had fought battles, finally overcoming them and winning the land above ground once again for humans to live on peacefully. The story from there jumps to a few years into the future where Yoko had taken her separate ways with the others to start a new life. She had taken a new name, Yomako, to become a teacher for a small school on an island not too far from Kamina City. There she fell in love with the students as if they were her own children. She was always smiling and caring for the students, showing discipline when necessary in her own ways. Yoko rejoined the Dai Gurren Brigade soon after she became a teacher once she heard of the news of Simon being sent to jail and Nia's sudden change. Once she arrived she helped Simon escape and teamed up again with the Dai Gurren crew to defeat the Anti-Spiral. Around this time, Kittan pulled a similar move to Kamina, giving her a kiss goodbye before dying off. Even though She lost Kittan in the process,Yoko had known he was just like Kamina in being reckless for the greater good. After the defeat of the Anti-Spiral and Nia’s return, Simon and Nia were to be married although Nia at the end disappeared from existence. Yoko parted ways with everyone again. She went back to her small school, planning on staying permanently as the school teacher of the small island.
