Growing up in the underground village of Ritona, Yoko lived her early childhood and pre-teen years there until gunmen had attacked her village and she moved to the above ground. She lived there with people from her own village and some from neighboring ones. While Yoko looked far from her age, she was also rather mature though a typical sassy teenager at some moments. She then finally met Kamina and Simon while trying to shoot down gunmen that had attacked their village. Once Kamina and Simon joined her above ground is when her adventure really began. Yoko joined them with their misadventure of trying to take overcome all the beastmen and gunmen that had come to rule the above ground. During this time, she slowly began to fall in love with Kamina, exchanging one kiss before he was killed in action soon after that. Both she and Simon were left feeling empty and bitter at the world. After the death of Kamina, She especially was defensive and had built a wall around her heart. After the time Simon had found Nia, Yoko at first was rather rude to the girl. Feeling a bit betrayed that Simon had found someone to mend himself as she felt more alone. When Nia proved herself to be kind that was when Yoko slowly broke down the walls around her heart. She, alongside Simon and the members of the Dai Gurren Brigade had fought battles, finally overcoming them and winning the land above ground once again for humans to live on peacefully. The story from there jumps to a few years into the future where Yoko had taken her separate ways with the others to start a new life. She had taken a new name, Yomako, to become a teacher for a small school on an island not too far from Kamina City. There she fell in love with the students as if they were her own children. She was always smiling and caring for the students, showing discipline when necessary in her own ways. Yoko rejoined the Dai Gurren Brigade soon after she became a teacher once she heard of the news of Simon being sent to jail and Nia's sudden change. Once she arrived she helped Simon escape and teamed up again with the Dai Gurren crew to defeat the Anti-Spiral. Around this time, Kittan pulled a similar move to Kamina, giving her a kiss goodbye before dying off. Even though She lost Kittan in the process,Yoko had known he was just like Kamina in being reckless for the greater good. After the defeat of the Anti-Spiral and Nia’s return, Simon and Nia were to be married although Nia at the end disappeared from existence. Yoko parted ways with everyone again. She went back to her small school, planning on staying permanently as the school teacher of the small island.
Yoko is like a Russian nesting doll, she has layers people have to go through some harder than others. This bittersweet, gun-slinging woman is the type of person who has a small wall around themselves until you become closer whether by fighting or simply talking.
On that outer wall, she shows her main emotions of being snarky-a bit sassy as well if someone makes any rude or obscene comment. She will have a bit of an attitude sometimes but she will not be disrespectful unless enticed to be mean. If you approach her in a friendly manner, she will be polite and friendly as well.
Yoko also has a bit of a temper if ignited. Being a fiery red head is the perfect way to say how Yoko is when she is angry or annoyed. She’ll lash out at moments, depending on how bad her mood is or her situation with the other party.
It also can be the opposite. She can be emotional during life or death situations due to her past of losing loved ones. She does not cry often but when she does it is rather intense and she will keep to herself about it. You will not see her cry publicly unless the situation is heavy for Yoko. Yoko has a big heart for people she cares about or who are important to her and if they are hurt or worse--she will lash out emotionally and do her best to protect them even if she is the one hurt in the end. She is protective of anyone she has taken a liking to.
While Yoko may not look like she cares what you think. Yoko actually is rather self-conscious. When someone speaks badly about her, for example they tell her she dresses too improper. She will roll her eyes but soon enough you will see she has a little more clothing on. She is a modest woman and a hard worker. Yoko is also very smart and a fast learner to things she is not familiar with. Yoko truly has a good head on her shoulders and while she may be stubborn, she is very friendly and always one to share a laugh with. Yoko isn’t one to be nice to every person she meets right off but give her a little time. Once you become a friend for Yoko, she will be a very good friend to try and go out of her way to help you sometimes.

Third Person: The warmth of the sun and the sound of the pool’s water rippling were the first things Yoko felt and heard as she woke up. She rubbed her eyes, opening them slowly and was already making note to prepare for the day for her students when she realized that she wasn’t lying in her bed. Instead she was lying back in a comfortable chair with the sunlight basking on her body. Yoko sat up quickly, suddenly alert and on guard. She had no clue where she was or how she arrived here but she was very suspicious. It looked very pleasant enough but the last time she was in a setting like this she was in a trance. Which seemed impossible considering the Anti-Spiral was long gone but she could never be too sure. Yoko stood up and a clink alerted her to glance down to see the ring of keys. She bent down, picking them up to inspect them closely. Yoko looked around once again- to the pretty houses lined up in perfect rows, the nice vehicles, the pleasant weather—all of it seemed so….perfect. Yoko gazed back to the keys and noticed one with a number; it seemed to match the houses so why not give it a shot? She grasped the key ring tightly and stood up straight. Yoko was going to find her answers to the many questions that rang in her head if it meant being a little forceful with others but she was going to approach the residents as polite as possible.
