Ichirou Takami, Eyeshield 21, reserved

Appearance:
A tall (192 cm), slender young man with black hair, usually kept slicked back. But even like that, it's ever so slightly wavy and not too short. When his hair is not brushed back and his bangs are falling over his face? They go well down to his lips. His face is fairly narrow, slightly elongated, and it's all the more pronounced by high and well defined cheekbones. His eyes are dark. Simply put, he has very distinct features to go along with the long legs and lean body. He wears glasses and dresses smartly when he's not in some sort of sports attire or his school uniform.

Personality:
Making the best of the traits he does possess, accepting and working around the limitations of his body forced on him by a childhood injury, Takami is the perfect picture of the hard-working, determined type. Even when outright told that becoming a quarterback with his leg -- which not only made him slow for a football player, but also rendered him unable to dodge, two things necessary for a quarterback -- was impossible, he made that dream into reality. He practised, he trained, he honed all the other necessary skills, like his throwing, and precision. Much like Hiruma himself, Takami is very intelligent and cunning, able to read people, predict their next movements based on his observations (and he is very observant as well, of course). He knows how to perfectly utilize his team-mates' abilities in the most efficient manner, how to work with them seamlessly with his own style of play; that ends up earning their team, the next-generation White Knights, a win, even against their school's Golden Generation that graduated and played in the university league.

Ninety-nine percent of the time Takami is a polite and composed young man. He respects authority and his upperclassmen, even when they insult him and his abilities. He knows when to suck it up and not talk back, he knows when it's pointless to argue. It doesn't mean he doesn't have confidence in himself, he does, even if might not be rock solid, but his resolve and determination help him keep it stable. It's a simple matter of knowing better and knowing what matters at the end of the day. For the most part, Takami tends to regard most things fairly calmly, especially during games. Some things can still make him lose his composure, but it's much easier to do so outside of all the matters concerning football. Because when it's not football related? He is easy to make uncomfortable, it's fairly easy to surprise him and make him almost flail.

That one percent of the time? Well, the match with Hiruma comes to mind. Hiruma is, apparently, the only person who truly manages to bring forward Takami's darker side. Hiruma doesn't really bring out the worst in him, but he certainly is challenging for Takami to deal with, and he puts him on his toes, making him go above and beyond his best. Which also goes to show the respect Takami has for Hiruma, his intelligence and skill.

He's patient, but even Takami doesn't have unlimited patience. Even he can be pushed far enough to lose his temper almost entirely and snap to the point of punching an underclassman. Proof of how rare (almost never!) it happens, is when his team-mates comment on how they can't believe Takami could do something like punching his team-mate Sakuraba. Even then, after he snaps? It only lasts a brief moment before he regains his composure, apologizes, and leaves to cool his head. The reason for the punch? The fact that Takami has waited years for someone like Sakuraba to come along, a receiver who could match his height, so he could make use of his tall stature. He patiently waited for Sakuraba to "wake up," so to speak. So when that didn't happen, when Sakuraba continued chasing the one he had no chances of catching up to physically (Shin) and almost gave up on playing due to it? Well, Takami snapped.

Takami is mature, but he's not above using underhanded tricks to pursue his dreams: that is to play good football with the best, against the best. Such as easily accepting Agon's offer, despite knowing full well what it was about. Which was going along with Agon's plan to sabotage the already-picked team representing Japan, so they could play in the first match of the World Tournament against the Russians.

He is humble, however, and modest. Takami doesn't desire spotlight for himself. He's perfectly fine being a part of something, working with others to achieve his goal; to win. He enjoys teamwork, and just like about everyone else in Eyeshield 21, he simply doesn't give up. Moreover, Takami is willing to do everything he can in his power to go further: his reason for entering a medical school and pursuing a surgical career? To heal his injury.

On field and off, Takami is fairly friendly and easy-going. He has a very mellow attitude, not meek or shy. He puts up with a lot, with stupidity, obnoxious behaviour, anything at all. It's difficult to put him off, though he's also not above noticing and acknowledging these things. For example? Ootawara's blatant stupidity. But at the same time Takami won't exactly be the one to point it out first.

Abilities:
Takami's most distinct ability, so to speak, is his intelligence, skill of observation and ability to predict people's actions based on said observations. He's also painfully precise and accurate in his throws. He's a quick thinker, can keep a pocker face when he finds it necessary, not even leaving anything for Hiruma, of all the people, to read.

He can benchpress 85 kg, but compared to other football players is a slow runner due to an injury.

Otherwise he's simply a regular human with no special abilities to speak of.
