Kiyotaka Ishimaru... how do I begin to explain Kiyotaka Ishimaru.
Headmaster: Kiyotaka Ishimaru is an amazing student. Student #1: I hear his hair is naturally that spiky. Student #2: I hear he's been offered a spot this year... at Hope's Peak Academy. Teacher #1: His most prized possession is his prefectual badge of honor! Student #3: One time he met a minister of defense at a rally... Teacher #2: And he told him he was admirable. Student #4: One time he gave me detention... it was awesome.
There is nothing more important to Kiyotaka Ishimaru than his passion for adhering to the laws of justice and retaining order with his fellow classmates. He prioritizes "simplicity and fortitude" above all else. He supports hard work and extraneous effort, which is exactly what he's put himself through to attain the top spot in his class ranking, and therefore earning his title of "Super High School Level Hall Monitor". Which is what he is, a hall monitor, an advocate of school spirit and good behavior towards all.
He's a major stickler for rules; the first time Naegi introduces himself to the group, after wandering into the entrance hall, Ishimaru points out that Naegi is late and thus has been holding everyone up; he then declares that this tardiness will be reported to the school officials as soon as possible. The fact that they've all arrived in this particular part of the school in such a strange manner certainly isn't enough to phase Ishimaru. After all, his focus is primarily on being the best he can be in his current learning environment.
Despite his laudable success in the disciplinary field, Ishimaru can prove to be a little ungraceful, specifically with his social skills. He doesn't seem to grasp what a "normal" conversation is (in fact, he believes all conversations should be "short and to the point"), and expects everyone to follow suit introduction-wise. He does possess a sense of humor, however, although this "humor" appears to be more awkward in taste than what is usually perceived as funny. He's extremely histrionic in his actions and gestures, as he tends to over-dramatize nearly everything. He's very lively and will not hesitate to point, laugh, and shout with true inner intensity. This attitude and constant enthusiasm is described as "tiresome" by Naegi.
It's likely his obsession with rules and order prevent him from fully understanding other human beings and their actions on most fronts. Needless to say, he's not a people person. He believes everything has a set "time and place", and that cooperation can get anyone anywhere, which would actually be more ideal if they weren't all trapped in a barred school of despair with the only way out being to kill each other. It's not as though he's completely unrealistic, in fact, he's just got far too much mercy in him for his own good. When he comes off as insensitive, it's usually thanks to his inability to grasp that not everyone acts in a certain written manner, or looks a certain way (which is why he mistakenly calls Sakura a boy when she is really a girl).
As Ishimaru is already a model student, he finds it his job to take action as a leader and influence his fellow classmates to follow his set example. To achieve this, he remains entirely optimistic throughout the game, giving pep talks whenever they may or may not be needed, and reassuring every one of his classmates of the reality of the situation: that if they work hard and work together, justice will always win in the end. For this reason, he knocks on everyone's doors one morning to gather them all for breakfast, firmly believing that eating together will unite them more than ever. He's faithful and righteous, something he hopes he never has to give up, even at the threat of true despair.
Abilities: Aside from being loud and awfully animated, he's got no supernatural abilities to note, as of now. But he's a goal-orientated person! Very supernatural, indeed. Other: He's got really thick eyebrows that could probably pierce hell.
