History: Here. The only material not covered is Judal telling Sinbad that the Kou Empire and Sindria are at war, Kougyoku's spar with Sinbad and how she becomes friends with Alibaba, which both happen during the second Sindria arc.

Judal arrives in Sindria and tells Sinbad that the Kou Empire is enemies with the country. Kougyoku is shocked to hear this. She doesn't give Judal an answer when he offers to make her a general, but she asks Sinbad for an audience later on and apologizes for Judal's behavior. Soon after that is her encounter with Alibaba when he recovers from his curse. He teaches her how to make a flower crown. Later on, when Kougyoku shows him her flower crown while he is practicing his Djinn equip, she offers to spar with Alibaba, who is reluctant to accept. Sinbad takes her up on the offer instead. Although Kougyoku uses her Extreme Magic, Sinbad wins the spar. She and Alibaba become friends after they reveal their pasts to each other. Kougyoku insists on becoming friends because they share similar backgrounds. She is ecstatic when Alibaba agrees.

Appearance: Here.

Personality: Sheltered rich girl who doesn't have any friends due to her social standing. You know the type, but I can't end my app on that note! There's more to Kougyoku than that. Honest.

To be fair, she doesn't seem like this at all when she first appears as an enemy to Aladdin and his companions. She is vicious in battle, and her tongue is as sharp as her sword as she tells her minions to get rid of the "trash" that dared to touch the Kou Empire's Magi. In Balbadd's court, she is shown to be a princess who is capable of standing her ground and negotiating as a representative of her country. If she wants to do it, she you bet she will! That is the way she lives her life. The headstrong Princess Kougyoku is a force to be reckoned with! Until she is pacified by Sinbad.

After she falls in love for the first time with the strong and handsome king of Sindria, we begin to see another side of her. She is usually a chipper and girlish person who is easily excited. Her face flushes quickly at the sight of her crush or the sounds of a dangerous plot that threatens her! Battles where she can use her power to the fullest get her heart pumping! And joy comes to her just as swiftly when she accomplishes something, no matter how big or small. She is proud of everything she can do well! And very ashamed of the things she can't do. She needs people to feed her ego, which admittedly, isn't very big to begin with. Yes, what they did was cool, but she was pretty good, too. Right? Right.

But while we can assume she is as educated as any other member of royalty, Kougyoku is not as wise as her brothers and she is quick to jump to conclusions. She doesn't observe the smaller details and this ended with her making quite a diplomatic mess out of everything once! In a sense, Kougyoku is also innocent: she is easy to influence, so she often gets caught up in the moment and fails to see what the other party is leading her on. An example of how bad it can get: Judal once tricked her into taking a bath with pigs! The same old trick doesn't work all the time, though; she does have moments when she can discern truth from lies, such as her love for Sinbad actually being unrequited.

It isn't only love that Kougyoku has problems with. As the daughter of the current emperor and a prostitute, Kougyoku's position isn't very high. To add to that, she is eighth princess in line for the throne. Eighth! Because of this, she led a lonely life. Living in a castle full of people who had either thought lowly of her as a bastard child or put her on a pedestal as a princess, Kougyoku never had any real friends to speak of and often played with her attendants or by herself. She is awkward when it comes to making personal connections, often turning her head when she attempts to be cordial. Her shyness makes her easy to spot in a row of court ladies with their heads held up high. She is willful, true, but she is afraid of standing up for herself against the authorities--namely, her family. Her low self-esteem is a big part of her personality, but it wasn't until she was appointed as King candidate that it took a turn for the better. She once confided in Alibaba that she was grateful to Judal and her brother Kouen for recognizing her and giving her a chance to shine.

She still sucks at making friends.

Ultimately, Kougyoku is driven by a desire for a place where she is needed, a place where she is loved. It's clear in her thoughts, emotions and behavior--the constant affirmation she needs to placate her insecurities, the happiness she feels when she finds acceptance, and the urgency to protect the people important to her.

Abilities:

Nerfed. She possesses a Metal Vessel in the form of her hairpin which holds Vinea, the Djinn of sorrow and isolation. With this Djinn, she can manipulate water and use it to attack her foes. She is talented in using her Djinn and performing Djinn Equip, which enables her to equip her weapon and even her entire body with the power of her Djinn. As a Metal Vessel user, she is capable of performing Extreme Magic.

Since these abilities will be null upon entering Holly Heights, she will only be left with her swordplay and her talent for playing make-believe by herself. Yeah.

Other: i don't actually have any gifs
