CANON UPDATING

CANON UPDATING
Canon updating will be simple.

Out of game, all that has to be done is replying to this post with your character in the subject line and filling out a short form. Only three little things to do.

In game, your character will fall asleep as their old self and wake up as their new selves. They'll remember all that happened in their past as if it was a memory they had forgotten. It's unexplained why it was repressed, but they remember now and that's the big thing.

Here is the form to fill out for canon updating:

AGE UPDATING
If your seventeen year old turns eighteen, they have to be moved to an adult slot! Please just let us know in a comment and we will re-randomize him into a house with a spouse.

New Canon Point: Mid chapter 67, before going to the Musashino Daiichi match
Differences: Knows the outcome of his team's run for summer Koushien, and knows of the injury that befalls his catcher. Less afraid of failure as a result, with a boost to his self-confidence and slightly more prone to letting his emotions run high in a positive sort of way. More or less, he's still largely the same person, as isn't a whole lot of time that passes between the end of Nishiura's tournament bid and their second training camp session.

Also +1.5 cm height. Also memories of getting pantsed by one of his teammates in front of some of the others.

New Canon Point: End of Chapter 183
Differences: The training camp has happened and Karasuno has defeated Aoba Jousai and are in the 5th set with their match against Shiratorizawa. Kageyama has grown substantially when it comes to his volleyball skills. He's learned to toss to Hinata in a way where the ball "stops" and drops at the point of impact. He's learned to trust his teammates more. He's still growing, of course, and is still awkward as hell, but he's overall he's just gotten stronger in volleyball.... getting stronger as a person is still a long, drawn-out process....

New Canon Point: Chapter 353, right before the 2nd day of the 42nd Interhigh
Differences: A lot has happened! Manami will have gone through some growth after the 41st Interhigh. He comes out of it (after a number of conversations), a little more responsible, a little more aware, and a bit more appreciative of the people around him. (He's also shown to be much more of a shitty child.)

Losing to Onoda does a number on Manami, and he does a number of immature things that shows some childish thinking. From shouldering zero responsibility before to trying to putting too much responsibility on himself, he basically suffers and burdens himself with too heavy thoughts. However, through the efforts of his upperclassmen (Izumida, Kuroda, and Toudou especially), Manami is able realize how insular his thinking he is and mature from it--at least at little. He appreciates his team a lot more.

He no longer sleeps through every practice or skips every interview, and he is more able to or puts a little more of an effort to connect with people. It's not a frequent occurrence by any means, but he calls Onoda after the preliminaries for the Interhigh and leaves him another water bottle. His thought that he'd accept it next time with a smile is remarkable because the year before Manami would've never thought of losing or contacting Onoda in that way.

How dismissive Manami can be to people that don't interest him is also shown in spectacular form when he matches up against Teshima in the 42nd Interhigh. As Teshima is an average cyclist, Manami casually disregards and brushes past Teshima multiple times. However, the events that lead up to the results of the mountain checkpoint displays how Manami's opinion and appreciation of a person can change, and he comes out of the first day of the 42nd Interhigh recognizing Teshima's strength (even though he's still going to be shitty to him).

New Canon Point: Chapter 72

Differences: The nature of the canon doesn't show a very obvious progression of time, sans a little something this chapter, so a lot of the differences Nozaki has experience have to do with his relationship to other characters/changes within his own attitude. However, firstly, the one thing that has changed outside of Nozaki's own behaviour is him witnessing that more of his friends know the identities of who helps him out with his manga (i.e. Wakamatsu and Mikoto find out about the other's duties). So, with that knowledge, Nozaki would likely be less likely to stick to the same level of secrecy in game as well.

The new level of comfort around his friends also extends to being able to rely on them for suggestions that'll aid his work - beyond simply observing them - as he'll actively ask them for contributions, trusting that they'll have learned enough about his methods and his characters by now. He also seems to have gained a lot of trust and fondness for Chiyo in particular, from believing that her ideas are so good that he won't even need to review them (as he did with others') to openly showing her affection because the fact that she doesn't believe his work is embarrassing means a lot. His closeness to Chiyo seems to have grown well past the initial assistant turned friend because he'll make remarks like, out of all their friends, it would be a situation where she leaves him that would surprise and hurt him the most.

Of course, it's not only Chiyo whom he's gotten to enjoy spending time with. What were more acquaintance-like relationships with others at school, like Kashima and Yuzuki, have grown into stronger friendships, where he'll take to spending time with them and helping them out with things in their lives (without any ulterior manga motives). The same goes for his relationship with his editor, Ken, who he seems to be getting on friendlier terms with (as he gathers crumb after crumb of little info about Ken via their interactions), and creating a more mutually understood work relationship.

That's about it - basically, tldr, he'll wake up having levelled up in friendship and trust and being more appreciative of everyone around him.

New Canon Point: During the Oya game in the fall tournament (roughly episode 25 of the second season)

Differences: On our last episode of Sisi Hadn't Finished the Series Yet, Seido was in the final match to make it to nationals. Since then, Seido lost in the tournament and began training for the fall. Haruichi gained a starting position on the team, changing from pinch hitter to second baseman, taking the place of his older brother, who has since retired, and gaining his number as well. In the fall tournament, he was chosen to be the three-hole batter, a position of importance, and is since trying to do his best to live up to it.

Most recently, he was told by the new and upcoming coach that he'll never play again if he continues to use a wooden bat, which is a leftover from his childhood (and, really, his own stubbornness) as well as one of his basic character identifiers. Needless to say, this made him even more stubborn, and he fully sticks it to said upcoming coach by slamming home a home run in the Oya game, which is his new canon point. ♥

New Canon Point:Chp 372, during the second day of inter high

Differences:

A lot has happened to him. Teshima's gone up to his third year of high school and it's all excitement. As captain, he started his year off by inducting a new member into the open regular's slot. That ended up being more drama than necessary. If he were a reasonable human being it would have gone more smoothly. From there, he went into their annual training camp that he's never finished in his previous two years. Winning or losing this race meant giving up his captainship and place on the regulars for inter high. Given he's promised to go with Aoyagi, not winning was not an option. If he was reasonable, he would have combined this and the last race to fill the last slots, as mentioned to him here, but Teshima can't be reasonable to save his life. This includes almost throwing the qualifying race to even be the prefecture rep for inter high. Granted, a lot of this is also because Teshima is the type to believe in his teammates and their abilities. He's the type to trust then even when they don't trust themselves. He believes in miracles and hard work paying off. It's just ... some of the other's are a little more realistic than that.

That is where Interhigh starts, and a whole lot more drama because sports manga can't be simple, and Teshima makes nothing easier for himself. He's very smart, but his way of approaching choices and decisions are very nonchalant, which start a lot of the cropping issues. Paired with situations with individual members and his personal low self-esteem about his own riding, this was A Time for him. He was split from his best friend and that was terrible. His former best friend is being cold to him and that's terrible. Manami ignored his existence until Teshima's persistence and general selfless dumbassery earned his respect. In fact, a lot of the strides that Teshima takes to make up the slack boosts him from a nameless rider with average skills to a fan favorite for the race who gets ahead through hard work. He doesn't have time to feel bad about himself when he has to maintain Sohoku's win.

When he's finally split from Aoyagi during the second day is when things start going downhill fast for him. Fighting with Aoyagi and then accepting he's probably not going to get to race with him anymore was really tough for him. His riding hasn't been up to snuff the same as usual since then. Paired with ridicule from his teammates and feeling the brunt of the race taking its toll on his body, this is just not his day.

Differences: A couple of hundred chapters of new memories and a bunch of new people he's met, and with that comes a generally happier Gintoki. He has more close friends and has learned better to trust people to take care of themselves as well as him, and not just take care of others. Slowly, he's sort of figuring out how to not despise himself so much. Not that it stops him from being a gross and annoying little shit.
