ALL CHARACTERS 18+ MUST FILL OUT THE ORIENTATION SECTION THIS DOES NOT MEAN ONE WORD. IT MEANS AS IT STATES IN THE APPLICATION EXPLANATION. Only one sample must be linked. Please do not link two samples. If you are putting a housing request in please include a number. If you do not, then it will not be considered. The reason being is that simply putting a name does not help me if the character has not yet apped either. Discuss it together and find a house to put yourself in that fits with your slotting and preferences. Please make sure you run your app sections (personality/samples) through a word counter. I use this one! If they don't comply with the minimum word counts, then no dice. The age rule is non-negotiable. You can beg me to put your 14 looking character who is actually a gazillion in a kid slot all you want but it will not happen. You do not need to reply to your acceptance logged in as the journal. You just need to tell me the journal name so I can accept it to the communities.
Sugane Tachibana | Gatchaman Crowds | Not Reserved 3/?
If there's one word that comes to mind relating to Sugane Tachibana, it would straight-laced. Sugane is quite rule-abiding, obeying others without much question. Being a Gatchaman, his suit and abilities are said to reflect his personality; with his case, it shows that he can be very much as plain as he appears. His weapon is a sword, and just like a sword, he only sees what's in front of him and attack only when give the precise decision.
Sugane can also be said to be the perfect weapon or subordinate, he's very much obedient to his superiors and won't act unless specifically instructed to do so. Not only that but he also sincerely love his duty as a Gatchaman, he isn't going to turn down a cry for help even if he doesn't have to help them. His dedication for his work is admirable, whether night or day, he's willing to make sacrifice to his personal life to continue his work as a protector of Earth. It is up to the point where he tries his best to never complain about his work, no matter how much, at times, it can be unjust or unfair that he had to be on field alone or not allowed to interfere outside of extraterrestrial attacks. It is very easy to see him as a workaholic for all the work and sacrifice he makes for the sake of peace.
In fact, Hajime easily describes him with two things; 'That katana is beautiful, but it also isn't' and 'you just look straight ahead! You just walk straight ahead!'
With that being said as much as the previous points are Sugane's strength, they're also very much his weaknesses. His main one is the fact his inability to be flexible in situations, he admits it himself that he needs to be certain or under orders to act. Never did he act based on last minute decisions or things against orders. This gives him a hard time when things go out of plan or against his expectations; revealing his rather awkward, vulnerable side. This isn't the only downside either, due to the fact his dedication is almost near obsession, he often push people way without realizing it. It's shown that his tendency towards sacrificing any shred of interest outside of necessities and duties pushed people away, or even made them concern of his wellbeing. As consequence of his obsessive personality, he is a loner outside of his personal bubble.
Though it's a huge factor, it isn't entirely the sole reason for his behavior however. Part of this is also added to the fact that, at the end of it, he's actually a rather shy kid with low self-esteem. Many of his reasoning and logic do come from the fact he doesn't think highly of himself. 'I need to work harder' or 'there's no reason for anyone to actually talk to me' those kind of reasoning often plague his mind. He often starts with his line of thought with 'I shouldn't…' when approaching other people. It also likely be the route reason why he feels he only has one choice in life, it's often because he's caught up with his own thoughts that he hadn't took the time to see it from another's perspective.
He's aware of his shortcomings and flaws, however instead of correcting them, he initially just cut off more things outside of his duties as a protector of the planet. This is again due to the fact he feels that he only has very few choices on the matter and never considered that it's possible to make a third choice. As he had became a Gatchaman since the age of 14, one of the first few things he had cut away was his adolescence and forcing himself to grow up. Sugane sees any potential distraction as a great hindrance. Due to that mindset he is, in reality, rather… out of touch on trends and fads. Though being out of the loop is probably just the tip of the iceberg, keeping himself away from human interaction he also doesn't allow himself to feel much emotions, never giving away how angry or frustrated he can be with his job sometimes or how feels awkward among the other Gatchamen.
Sugane however is never an emotionless person, completely the opposite in fact. He often comes off as rather rigid or harsh, but that can't be any further away from the truth. After all, he couldn't be a total glacier if J.J Robinson had chose him to become a Gatchaman. If anything, Sugane just shuts down a good load of emotions, not as extreme as his fellow Gatchamen but it does come rather close. At the very core of it, Sugane is passionate of his job and loves people. He cares for those around him, even if he isn't entirely good at showing it. He exercises self-control but it's actually hiding someone who is rather affectionate. He protects the people and save them because he wants to live in a world where everyone can feel safe. And when push comes to shove, if someone proves him wrong, he does carefully looked through his mistakes and correct them. This is pretty much his relationship with Hajime, from time to time, she had proved his expectations wrong and slowly he's coming out of his shell.
He's slowly trying to make up the years lost, but for now he's still making clumsy baby steps out of the metaphorical shell.
