IC INFORMATION

Characters Name: Western order, por favor.
Age: In years, if possible.
Canon: The name of the canon, as specific as possible. For example Final Fantasy VII not just Final Fantasy.
Canon Point: Exact page numbers and panels aren't necessary, but being specific is good.
Species: Note that any species other than human will become human. Animals, aliens, even human like beings. You're going to become homo sapiens like the rest of us.
Gender: Both physical and mental.
Orientation: FILL THIS OUT IF YOU HAVE A CHARACTER THAT IS OVER 18, NO BUTS. Here at Holly Heights, we don't discriminate against anyone's orientations. That being said, if your character is gay, we aren't going to make them take a wife when housing plans are given. Gay marriage is completely legal. Please give us a short and simple reason you think they are gay/straight/bi/etc if they don't have an explicitly stated sexuality. Please keep it short, though. We do know it's tempting to tl;dr about things like this. Long story short, the real question is Would your character be more comfortable with a wife, husband, or either?, so that we know what houses to place them in.

History: Links will suffice, but please write it out if the links are insufficient.
Appearance: A picture will be sufficient, but we'd never turn down a written explanation.
Personality: This should be the biggest part of the application unless your history is written out. There should at least be 3 paragraphs OR 300+ words. No links. Using old app sections for this AS LONG AS THEY ARE YOUR OWN is reasonable.
Abilities: Please note that in this domestic paradise, powers will be taken. Will you get them back? If you behave, perhaps. Please list any special powers your character has and any natural talents that they possess. This can range from flying to having nice handwriting.
Other: Anything else you'd like to include? Put it here.

SAMPLES

First Person: "Action brackets", this will be your cell phone, webcam, and text related communicating. At least eight sentences is required. You may link from a musebox, a meme thread, or a previous roleplays tag for this section. When linking singular threads, however, make sure that they are at least 10 comments long from YOUR character to accurately judge. Can be taken from any community or musebox. 18+ threads are permitted to be linked.

Third Person: This is more like a log entry and action related. It should could more "he/she" than "I". Please give us at least two paragraphs OR 10+ lines or text. You may link to a musebox post or previous roleplay log for this but only if you didn't link for your first person and vice versa. Also remember that this isn't fanfiction and should act like a log post would . Just rambling on like a novel isn't writing a log. LOOK HERE FIRST To keep things tidier, there are now two application posts! One for screened applications and one for unscreened applications. Simply click on the post to take you to the post you'd like to put your application on.

WORK AND YOU
Let's make one thing very clear. The NPCs, while being pretty brainless and flighty, are very protective of their place in Holly Heights. Who knows why. They love it here, I guess. You should too by the way!

That being said, there aren't too many job opportunities for a character unless they want to make one for themselves or if you want to make one for them.

Making one is the equivalent of them running their own business. They are free to make any kind of business they wish, be it a flower shop or adult entertainment, whatever you'd like that to entail. This means that they are taking the initiative to start their own business and they will run it themselves, or with others if that's what you'd like to go for. The process is quite simple. They decide to start their own business and suddenly, there it is, fully functioning in the Gate of their choice (either the Pleasure or Shopping). How convenient! Your friendly, neighbourhood landlord knows more about your character than they think he does.

If a character wouldn't want to run their own business but still work, that's okay too! You can make whatever business you want for them without having them own the place. Characters can just browse the bulletin board or the working district and see a help wanted sign in the window. However you want to make it work! Please note that once you make a building without having a character own it, there's a chance that someone else might want their character to own it or work there. Permission must always be asked from the original owner, and that can be something done via the player or via a mod contacting the player.

THERE IS AN EXCEPTION
Because most jobs that can be taken from the mall are jobs that can be made to your characters liking themselves, there aren't preset jobs for them to take. However, this is not true for those that wish to teach school. School teachers may apply on the locations page, and will be listed under each school as well as what subject they wish to teach. This applies for all four schools.

MAILBOXES

MAILBOXES
There is no post office as of yet. To send letters to be received on other characters mailbox posts, here's how they work in game.

Simply write whatever you wish to sent on a piece of paper or what have you as well as the number of the house of the person you want to send it to. Place it in your mailbox, close the lid. It will immediately be sent to the appropriately numbered house.

One can also place fitting items in the mailbox and have them sent, as long as the house number is written on them or fastened to them in some form or fashion. This can range from gifts to the carefully crafted pipe bomb, so be careful! When a character receives mail in their box, their mailbox flag will go up so that they know they have received mail.

When you send someone a letter (i.e. comment on their mailbox post) it is assumed their reply is being sent back to you, even though the thread will continue on on their post. It basically just tells who initiated the mail and then so on and so forth.

WELCOME TO HOLLY HEIGHTS

The Lease
Hello ________________! Welcome to your new home. I'm sure you want to get settled in immediately but there are a few things I need to clear up with you so our agreement can commence as soon as possible.

First of all, your new address is now ____ Holly Heights. Congratulations! You've got quite a lovely home. I should know, I own it. At least, partially. You did sign a lease with me after all. You have wonderful taste! I'm especially fond of the french doors and the convertible. That's yours too, just in case you've forgotten. I know I feel a little groggy after waking from a nap, so it's no big deal if you did. I've dropped you off with your new keys, so don't worry.

Moving on, I guess I need to tell you about those, don't I? One of them is obviously the key to your house and car. It's the one with the little number on it. Try not to lose it, although I can give you a few extra if you need. You should also have four other keys, I do believe. A red, yellow, green, and blue. Those are for the communities gates. I can't afford to have who knows what kind of crazies running around here helter skelter.

The green one gets you in and out of your little housing community. You don't have to lock it behind you, it'll do that by itself. The blue key is for the working world where you can go buy whatever else satisfies you and work. Nothing is more satisfying than a hard earned living, I don't think. Red gets you into the finer things in life. The arts, fine dining, the fruits of all your labor. Take a night on the town every once in a while. Or all the time, if you're the type. Just make sure to keep up with the tab. You've got a credit card but there's another key to worry about here. If you're one of the more scholarly sorts, or a small child or teenager or whatever they call those young people these days, then this key is for your schooling. Don't play hooky or there might be a certain punishment in order. An education is very important for young minds, don't you think?

Now, for everything else. Of course you can't live here without the proper paperwork, and don't worry, that's been taken care of! There are a few things I'd like to give you.

First is your new credit card! It would be a shame to walk around penniless with all these wonderful things to spend your money on. Oh, but you only have five hundred big ones to start with. Remember what I said about working hard for a living?

Also, you'd be pretty lost here without a cell phone. Take a look inside! Look familiar to you? Maybe not? Don't worry if it's not, it's pretty easy to get used to them after a few tries. Have fun texting!

For Those 15+
Another thing is that, of course, with new wheels comes new responsibility. Hopefully you know how to drive or know someone that can teach you! Don't worry, I've already got you all squared away with the DMV. Which is me, by the way.

For Those In Any School
Don't forget what I said about school! You don't need to fret about acceptance; I've got it all squared away. Here's your new school ID so you can get on campus quite easily. That is, as long as you have your keys with you.

For Those Entering A House With Family
I know if must be hard coming into a foreign place alone, but fear not! You have the luxury of having a family already. I've done the work for you, it's alright. I hope you find my choices suitable to your taste. Don't believe me? Go on inside! You can thank me by enjoying your new life.

CANON UPDATING

CANON UPDATING
Canon updating will be simple.

Out of game, all that has to be done is replying to this post with your character in the subject line and filling out a short form. Only three little things to do.

In game, your character will fall asleep as their old self and wake up as their new selves. They'll remember all that happened in their past as if it was a memory they had forgotten. It's unexplained why it was repressed, but they remember now and that's the big thing.

Here is the form to fill out for canon updating:

If your seventeen year old turns eighteen, they have to be moved to an adult slot! Please just let us know in a comment and we will re-randomize him into a house with a spouse.

COMMUNITY TAG SYSTEM

COMMS & TAGS
Here at Holly Heights, and well, most other RPs, we like to keep things organized. For all of your RP needs, there will be a community. Tags are usually on a player decided basis. They are laid out as follows:

❥ hollyheights - Where most of the RPing will happen. This is where most posts containing video, text, action, etc will take place. This will also be where landlord announcements are made, leading to a possible log post later in the week/month.
❥ shadygates - The place where logs happen, be they mod logs or player logs. These will have a format that is pretty uniform.
❥ poolside - Where OOC action happens. This includes mun intros, hiatus announcements, tossing ideas around, what have you.
❥ cocktailparty - Memes will happen here, mostly. All of them will have nothing to do with in game continuity unless you have rhyme and reason to make meme happenings into game happenings. That's why it's a crack community.

There will only be one mod account and NPC account, lessor.

Tags will be as follows for both hollyheights and shadygates. Tagging your own post is mandatory, but tagging posts that you comment on is up to player discretion.

Character: Each character, once accepted, can freely make their own tag, as long as the tag is written in western order.
Type: *action, *video, *text
Location: Based on the four gates, they will be !housing, !working, !pleasure, !alumni.

UPON ARRIVAL

LEASING FOR DUMMIES
Okay so hopefully you get the idea by now. You wake up in front of a beautiful house with a car in the garage. You've been plopped into a world where you have a free house, a new family, access to food and other amenities, and the biggest goal is for you to be happy.

Some basic, need-to-know technicalities are:

• All characters have a set of keys to their house and car and to the four gates surrounding the city.

• They will receive a detailed lease agreement confirming their situation, explaining the gates and their districts, and also the basic law of the land.

• All characters will now get a Holly Heights credit card. There's $500 to start them off with, but all other money must be earned.

• They'll also get a cell phone. This can be theirs from home if they had one previously or a new one if they never have or currently don't from their canon point.

• Included with these is a drivers license for characters 16 and older.

• Student-aged characters will receive ID badges for their school with their grades on them quite plainly. Grades are up to the player, but keep it realistic and consistent with their ages unless there is reason to do otherwise.

• If adult characters have been placed in a house that already has family members, they will receive a copy of their marriage license as well as their lease.

From here, your character can do as they wish. Do they rebel and try to get out? Do they go with the flow and get a job, foster the community? Do they break rules or stay on the straight and narrow? It's all up to them and ultimately up to you.
