THE NETWORK

THE NETWORK
This post will show you different examples of how the network looks. For a sample to show you some different functions, I'll use an account I own.

For starters, the networks look and style is sort of a Tumblr/LJ hybrid, but is styled mostly like Tumblr. Here are samples of various types of posts that can be created:

This is a published text post. In order to see responses, just click on link. To respond, click on message. Viewable only to the posted, publish(ed) shows whether or not the message is one they are working on or that you've posted.

This is a video post as is plainly visible with the huge VIDEO text. When you press the text it then plays. Pausing, rewinding, fast forwarding, making it large will happen when you click on the video, which when played will show options to do so at the bottom of the screen. When you respond to the post with your own video/text/audio, it will be like initiating a Skype call when the original poster replies, thus making a sort of stream.

Audio posts work the same way as mentioned above. Same controls, same Skype-like conversation initiation.

The default icon is what is shown along with the name they wish to go by. Instead of the default icon, the picture next to each post will generally just be a picture of your character that can't be changed since it's just a front-facing picture for identity, just like the ones on I.D.s. That little arrow dropping down from the icons will open a little menu that you can use to change some settings.

When you click on the name option, it takes you to another menu which has two options: anon or type.

Clicking on type allows you to type a new name in, which works sort of like Facebook used. If it's entered in like Springtime Roselace when your character has no relation to this name, it'll kick it out to the default name. For example here, Toris can input Lithuania if he wishes to go by that, and it will show up, but if he put in China, it wouldn't work. This is just to save people from going nuts with it.

If you'd like to use an alias that will work for your character, feel free to do so. An alias can be used like a username, for example I could very well say that the actual name is sakotis (as shown above), just like my dreamwidth account. Using usernames is perfectly fine in this field! This option is available for those who would like to display names or anything else to identify their character that isn't a username, such as people who would like to hide their identity or switch (such as my character). For the sake of the game, the default will go to your username that you've chosen for your character but feel free to do what you'd like otherwise.

Clicking on the anon option, your icon/picture will disappear and another one will show up in its place.

This will ensure that your characters identity is kept safe. This will also apply to comments and responses.

Clicking on the privacy option will bring you to another menus. Highlight the portion of text you'd like to filter and you then can click behind the to: and put in the name(s) of the person or people you'd like to filter the post too.

Clicking on delete will delete your post. Clicking on edit will allow you to adjust things as necessary, though for video and audio posts, there is minimal editing allowed if there is anything to even edit at all.

At the top of the network when you first go to it will be a drop down menu that allows you to film or record or type. By pressing the camera or record button on your phone, these will activate automatically making accidental video/audio possible.

When you click on a link to a post, the format then is like Livejournal, just with a green background and the comments are collapsed bubbles, much like these. A character can see any conversations that aren't filtered from them.
